Teacher and student bond is awesome! They really get to know each other after years together. RSM covers the same subject in more depth than public school. Great for providing challenges for gifted students. Enrollment is HOT! Try to get in as soon as you can.
The best math school in the region. I have been using this school for last couple of years for my daughter and this year my 6y.o. has started it as well. This is a solid math foundation, good old abstract math that leads to success in engineering field. My daughter succeeded in state math competitions and got into the national program that will help her continue to grow in math area. Kudos to Darena, who leads this school in a wonderful way, helping kids to succeed.
RSM offers a fantastic program. The students are taught a strong foundation in concepts and learn proficient problem-solving skills. The curriculum is age appropriate, challenging, well-planned and customized. In addition, the school is organized, responsive, easy to work with and supportive. My two children have grown in both knowledge and confidence because of their experience at this school. We are grateful to have such a resource in our community and highly recommend RSM to any family looking for an excellent math education and experience for their children!
We are an rsm family for the past 7 years. 2 of my kids have attended rsm. The principal is a devoted educationalist and the staff are dedicated, committed to providing the best academic and social experience for the kids. Not only is there stress on affective teaching, but also on overall development of the child. She encourages and inspires the kids to become confident leaders
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. this place made me actually actually enjoy math, the teachers are amazing, and so are the kids. the curriculum is immersive and it’s interesting. i loved it so much
Dont go to this place. Unless you are comfortable with math. I was a student here and it was really hard to understand what the teachers were saying due to there accent and language problems.
Even though my mom forced me to go here at first, Ive grown to love this place. The teachers here are amazing, and thanks them and their hard work, I can sleep during my math classes at school and still get an A.
I have 3 children with individual learning styles and strengths. They have been going to RSM for 4 years and LOVE it. Theyve had different teachers and I can say that:1. each child is challenged and stretched while2. still having fun, growing in love of different math topics and deepening their self confidence.3. They love thinking about the homework. The volume is not much, but they need to look at it and think about it, practice noodling on a problem.4. They never complain that math is boring.5. They never say its too hard.6. The teacher makes it FUN and show how concepts apply to real life.7. My kids learn how to think and solve problems, not recipes by heart. Even when they see a problem type they dont know, they have enough confidence to just think about it and try different approaches.8. The other students are fun and the classes are well balanced.9. Competitions offered are difficult and doing well earns respect of others.10. Fun contests are engaging and truly encourage a love of math.I am pleased with how much my children have benefited and hope others will discover this gem in our community. The teachers are hand selected not just for math teaching ability but also for love of teaching children. The report card comments and parent teacher conferences (when needed) are very insightful and valuable.
Two of my children have attended the RSM for the last couple of years. The school and the teachers have been extremely valuable for my childrens education and math skills. The teachers are very nice and very experienced and lead the kids through a deep learning with hard work in class and for homework. As a result my children are top of their class in public school. I would strongly recommend RSM to anyone who wants solid math education for their children.
We love Russian School of Mathematics Bellevue! Both of my children go there, my daughter in 5th grade and my son in 2nd grade. We have referred several families and they all now go there too! My kids love the teachers, the other students. My daughter in particular has gained so much confidence and strength in her math abilities. STRONGLY recommend you try this school.
This is our 4th year at RSM Bellevue and we couldnt be happier. We LOVE this school, it feels like home. The teachers are excellent, dedicated and make learning fun. Our principal, Mrs. D, really goes above and beyond. She is the heart of this place and we are so thankful to have found such a wonderful, enriching environment to learn math. My kids enjoy their classes and have truly benefited from the advanced math instruction, increasing their ability to tackle new problems with confidence and perseverance. I highly recommend this school to all who want to give their children a solid foundation and a lifelong love and understanding of math.
My boys (3rd and 5th) have scored 98&99 on all STAR math tests. I see how advanced they are compared to the normal Bellevue math level. My boys play all sports but have remained committed to RSM for 4 years. Even they appreciate what they are learning. Well worth the investment!
I had a very bad experience with the Russian School of Mathematics. I paid the registration fee of $100 to register my daughter for a fall course, and put in the notes that the class time (which had not been posted online) had to be on a certain day and time. The school then told me that the class would not be held on this day and time, but my fee was non-refundable, and I could use the $100 toward a future class or a private lesson. I was already upset by this, since I had paid the registration fee with the stipulation that the class would be held at a certain time. Now, later in the year, I am attempting to use the $100 for a private lesson or for a class, and they tell me that it is too late in the year and it is no longer possible. I called them repeatedly trying to schedule a lesson, but they do not answer the phone and often do not return my calls. Having had my kids in many different courses, I am appalled at how this “school” is run. I am posting this to warn others before they fall into the same trap. They do not seem to care to keep their customers—I suppose they have enough of them to not worry about keeping their integrity.
RSM is fantastic. I started doing it in 5th grade, and am now a sophomore in high school. My grades in math have skyrocketed ever since Ive started going to this school. While i never want to get out of bed to go, when I get there I can actually have fun while learning math. Way to go, guys. My favorite teacher by far is Mrs. Anastasia. She cracks some funny jokes, and her teaching style is incredible. If you have the chance to be in her class, absolutely go for it. Thanks RSM for all the help youve given me! This is my last year at the school, and it might be hard to believe, but Ill miss it.
Our kids have been at this School since the first day the RSM opened its branch here. Only can praise all teachers here for their unbelievable efforts and dedication to the students.
RSM has been a huge boost for our son. He has been taking classes there for 4 years, since he was in first grade. The curriculum stimulates a lot of creative mathematical thinking, something that they are lacking at school at times. Also, the program is very well crafted and fast paced, which had allowed him to get into LWSDs Quest eventually.I wish RSM all the best and hope it stays around to continues spreading the long-lasting love for math!
Fantastic school. If you want your child to love math you need to attend this school. Our older son have been attended to RSM for 3 year. He was never bored by math over this time. When I pick him up all students look happy and with shiny smiles. He is attended to Mrs. D. class. The program of RSM is much stronger than in public school (He is attended to Rockwell elementary). He always have score 4 for Math in public school and does his Math homework for public school about 2 minutes. Our younger son have been attended just one year. He is excited to get there. Teachers in RSM are doing an amazing job.
Ms. D. is a phenomenal teacher, my daughter loves going to class every week where she feels engaged and challenged.
Highly recommend it. My child didnt just improve in Math, but in everything.
Miss Darena is a great teacher and an amazing principal. She goes above and beyond to ensure the kids get a great education, works with parents to ensure classes are scheduled when children are available. I had all my kids in this school and after several years of studying extra math, all three have As only in math. From Kindergarten to 8th grade, the skills learned in this school makes them successful and less stressed about succeeding. This school is a great fit for kids who want to learn.
Both of my sons have been going to Bellevue RSM since its inception and Darena, or Mrs. D as we have come to known her, has been patient and helpful from day one. First and foremost, she was a great teacher. My kids love being in her class and learned a great deal from her. As the Principal of the Bellevue school, she was tireless in making sure the kids get placed at the right level in the right class, and answering questions even though it meant she had to answer emails late at night. The school thrived under her leadership. Thanks to her and RSM, the kids in Seattle/Bellevue area have a place to go to build a good foundation for learning higher math. Thank you Mrs. D!
This is our third year at the school and weve been very happy with our sons progress. He absolutely loves going to his weekly math classes with Darena Gateva. She is a skillful and dedicated teacher with an infectious love for math. I highly recommend RSM Bellevue to all parents looking for a solid math foundation for their children. Math can be fun and exciting thanks to the dedicated teachers at RSM Bellevue!
Our two daughters have attended RSM Bellevue since the very first year it started in Bellevue. One of them is now finishing elementary school and the other one is finishing middle school in the Bellevue School District. I am involved in coaching their respective schools Math Clubs and have been involved in mathematics competitions. I value highly RSMs contribution to both our daughters mathematics skills, their analytical thinking and capacity of abstracting. The RSM curricula are well designed and I dare to say that the teaching is of high quality. The kids who attend RSM and are motivated (and yes - RSM has plenty of ways to motivate them) will gain a lot: way more than a standard after school math program. The RSM math is taught with the purpose of having the kids understand deeply the mathematics concepts rather than following blindly some standard procedures. That leads to the kids intrinsically being better in math. The geometry curriculum is truly outstanding and it is way above the schools curriculum. It teaches what is known as synthetic geometry (inferring the geometrical concepts starting from the basis of the axioms of Euclidian geometry) that gives the kids not only a solid background in geometry but it trains their logical reasoning. In short - we highly recommend the education that is provided by RSM Bellevue.
Our son has been attending RSM Bellevue since fourth grade and is currently in seventh grade. We came to know about RSM through one of our friends who had enrolled her daughter. We decided to try it out, and we are so glad we did. Our son is very passionate about Math and has been from a very young age. We have tried every possible Math program available in our area including several franchises and even private tutoring, and nothing has come close to RSM. The principal of RSM Darena is simply amazing, and we have never seen someone who is so passionate about helping kids and promoting a love for Math. She knows every child personally and is always encouraging them. Our son has received so much support from her, and she has helped him so much. She tries her best to accommodate every child’s needs. Even with the center having grown so much in the past few years, the quality has never gone down. The teachers are really amazing, and we have never seen such dedicated teachers. They go out of their way to help them, and if they miss a class, they are very accommodating. Our son’s teacher Anastasia is simply amazing. She has helped our son so much, and he looks forward to his weekly Algebra and Geometry class. He does not want to miss his class even when he is sick. Since we enrolled our son in RSM, we have never had to worry about Math. Before that, we were at a loss, and we were teaching him at home, but his needs were so much that we were finding it very difficult. But RSM has filled that need. For the first time, he feels challenged and does not mind being bored at school. We consider RSM our family and we feel that the principal and teachers are a very influential part of our son’s life and we simply cannot thank them enough for everything they have done. I strongly recommend RSM Bellevue to everyone. My wife is a Math coach and she feels that we cant find a better place in our area that can fulfill the needs of not just a child who needs help but also someone who is very gifted in Math.
My daughter has been going to RSM Bellevue since they opened their doors several years ago. I cannot praise the school high enough for the great teaching and attention every teacher has given to my child and for the progress my daughter has made in math since she began her studies here.I think the school success is due to a solid methodology and outstanding teachers. The methodology may be the easier part - math can be fun if its taught the right way, as a logical system of ideas and principles, each of which reinforces the other. The interesting part about the RSM program is that it works quite well in conjunction with public school math classes. The RSM program will go much deeper than the schools and ties loose ends quite well. Your child will excel in schools math, and that in turn will increase her confidence, aiding with RSM studies, thus creating a positive feedback loop. The teachers is the second pillar that makes RSM Bellevue the place for the quality math education. They genuinely care about students and their success. If there are problems, the school is open to help with homework and ensure the concepts stick. The school principal, Darena Gateva, or Mrs. D as students affectionately call her, taught several classes to my daughter herself. My child now has other teachers, as dedicated and effective as Darena herself.Another thing about Darena is that she is very opened to feedback. When we had problems, suggestions or any issues, she always found time to talk to us and resolve any problems.Net, net, I would encourage you to try RSM for a semester. More likely than not, youll find your children improve their math grades and actually start enjoying the subject.
My son started attending RSM during his 5th grade and really loved it. Ms. Darena and all teachers has really helped him understand Mathematics and develop a genuine interest into it. Darena is a wonderful teacher to my younger son as well. She has a positive attitude which translates into her teaching. I would recommend RSM to all parents looking for a math program that really helps kids understand math and eventually excel at math.
Russian school of Math in Bellevue is great center ! I used to live in Boston and my son used to go to RSM in Andover there. When I moved to bellevue I didnt know that there was a center where I moved. When I was looking for Math classes and came to knee there is a RSM in bellevue, I was very excited to know that they newly opened that center in Bellevue. When we went and met the principal Darena she was so wonderful and my son loved the way of her teaching Math which my son understood in seconds !Teachers are very friendly and well qualified ! They have the best interest of the students ! Their curriculum is best for Math and kids are doing above grade level at their schools. My kids have been goin to RSM few years and doing great! All my kids are student of RSM !Darena the principal of this center is amazing person !! Who always goes out of her way to help the parents and students ! She is the teacher for my youngest son for past 4 years and he loves her ! He always looks forward to go to her class and I tell you its not easy to make a kid love coming to a Math Class !!!RSM teachers are family to us ! They put their heart and soul in teaching our kids ! They deserve more than 5 star ! I am thankful they are here to educate my kids.
We want to thank the administrative and teaching team at RSM Bellevue for providing an excellent math education to our son for more than 4 years. Because the program in the RSM branch in Boston was highly praised by friends, we enrolled in the newly opened branch in Bellevue immediatelly after its opening. We were looking for rigourous, well-crafted math program in Algebra and Geometry that was also flexible to accommodate different learning abilities. Our family is very happy with the progress our son is showing in his regular shool thanks to RSM program. We believe that our investment in terms of money and time is well worth it.One of the reasons our son continues his study there, year after year, is that he really liked the teaching approach of the principal of the school Darena Gateva. She is an extremely responsible teacher and school administrator and her energy and friendliness facilitates easy and constructructive communication with parents and students. Thank you Darena!
Mr.K is a great teacher, I believe him to be respectable and polite.
Place where my son started to be a big fan of mathematics
Good Water......
