I just moved to Houston and I got my catalytic converter stolen within my first week. I was distraught, however after being referred to Smart Automotive I was able to get it fixed within the next day at a reasonable cost. The service was quick and painless and the customer service was amazing! Being a women and finding a honest mechanic is hard but I found mine and I would refer anyone to come here.

I was referred to Smart Automotive Services by a friend who simply said, you won’t regret it. I was so flabbergasted by their knowledge, the workmanship, and their family attitude that truly showed. My Ford Edge runs like new now, they fixed what needed to be fixed and educated me on other areas that we can focus on later. Wow, now that’s service...

As usual Dani and her crew did am amazing job. I bring all my cars to her when they need repairs and she has never failed me. Im leaving today on a road trip, so it was really important (to me) to get my work done. I went there in person to plan the work for another day. I returned on the set day, but I was pushed off to the next day. I returned again (yesterday), but still cant get to me. Today I arrived early, and with no other customers waiting, I was told, it will be a while. Thats it. After four trips to the shop, I reckon it will be longer.

Great people very qualified. Only sell me what I need and inform me about all costs and details. I trust Smart auto.

I do NOT trust any mechanic shop for good reason. They are always trying to swindle you and say things need to be done that do not. A lot of places rip you off with prices as well. I found Smart Automotive from a friend/mechanic whom I trust and I am beyond thankful to my friend for the referral. Danny and David are absolutely AMAZING. I 100% trust them. They are professional, friendly, trustworthy, and know their stuff. The prices are wonderful as well. We take all 3 of our vehicles there and earlier in the year my vehicle leaked all transmission fluid in the driveway. It had to be towed (which they can have done too). Any other place I would have went to would have said it was something big and charged a fortune. Not them, it was the o ring in the dipstick. I am telling you, you will NOT find a better place to take your vehicle.

The owners of Smart Automotive have the most honest and trustworthy auto repair shop I have ever been to, especially compared to the chain shops. They consistently surprise me with their professionalism and their friendliness - I have been bringing my Nissan truck and now my Jeep Wrangler to them for years and have never had a problem nor a surprise, unless it was a good one! They have bent over backward for me at times, even staying open late to finish a repair to make sure I got it back the next day as I was paying for a rental during the repairs. I moved quite a few miles further away from their shop over a year ago and still continue to take my trucks to them when I need repairs. I trust them wholeheartedly and have recommended David and Dannie to friends and will continue to do so.

I brought my 1985 Olds 442 in for several things. The owner (David) built a custom 3” exhaust, 2” drop spindles, complete front end with alignment, Bilstien shocks, and custom modified a Hurst Lightning Rod Shifter that two other shops could not fix. Very reasonable (although I care more about quality than price) is up front and he and his wife have a great team. He came highly recommended by a good friend and I will pass that recommendation to friends & familyKen-

This is the only place I have ever recommend to anybody in Houston for honest and great mechanical work to be done. Danny is great and her husband has always done a great job on all the repairs that I have taken there over the years. I’ve been a customer of theirs since 2010 In their old location and are still taking my vehicles to them when I know I need somebody that I can trust.

Took my car here back in May 2020 and was working with Dani. i needed my transmission replaced. the entire process seemed entirely stressful because this was my first time handling any car repair without my dad, but Dani helped me understand the situation and what to expect and had me feeling reassured. My car ended up taking longer than expected due to issues with the part they were recieving and they kept me updated the entire way. I know my situation was a headache but smart automotive didnt give up on me! lol . after going on almost 3 months later, my car is still running great! i would definitely recommend this shop.

I brought my tahoe to David and Daniel and has the worst experience. They replaced my ac compressor of which only lasted less then 2 days. I brought it back to them only to find that my ac condenser had to be replaced also. I had already paid them close to $600 + $192 for parts that I purchased elsewhere (compressor/dryer)dollars and they were wanting to charge me another $400 plus to replace the condenser. I had a licensed tech ask if they flush my system out of which I would like to believe that they did. The other tech opened up my system only to find the orifice tube was completely clog and dry. Should be oily but not clogged. We vacuumed the system and recharged it but only lasted a few days before the brand new compressor failed. The second tech said that Smart Automotive should have recommended replacing the condenser being the age of the vehicle a 98 Chevy but he never did. I talked to David and told him that he being the expert should have recommended a replacement to ensure the job done right but he danced around saying there was no way of knowing that would have failed. I once again told him that as a customer we rely on his experience to make the customer aware of the possibility of a condenser failure. Needless to say they were not willing to help in any sort of way. I had to repurchase all the parts and have another more experienced mechanic do the job. I am not saying they are bad people but definitely not very trust worthy. I am out of pocket well over $1200 dollars but that didn’t seem to phase them. They would have gladly taken the rest of my money as well.

I won’t dare go to any other repair shop. Danny is just amazing. She Will help you to every extent she can in getting your car repaired. Always honest and upfront about the entire cost and the amount of time repair will take.

I had an issue my brake lights not working I couldnt figure out what was wrong so I come here to smart automotive. About 20 minutes later they were done told me I had a missing fuse I was charged $22 half hour of labor, parts, hazardous waste disposal and tax were on my receipt. Something like this should have free or at minimum a couple of bucks for the fuse.

I moved to the Houston area about 6 years ago and bounced around with some of the big name auto places... about 4 years ago a trusted friend recommended SMART AUTO... From my first encounter I realized that the big guys dont care like they do. More concerned, knowledgeable, and reasonable than the rest. They have saved me from bad diagnosis and missteps multiple times!!!!! Family run with integrity and a goal of fairness guided by the ideal of earning return business. GIVE THEM A SHOT AND YOULL BE TELLING YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY! I wont mention the ones that failed me... Im not a politition but check them out......

Ive had some bad experiences with mechanics before but smart automotive takes the cake. Danielle smart started out nice enough and then came all the lies. Im unsure if she is capable of telling the truth and to my dismay she even used a racist remark to cover up one of her lies.

Be warned! They are liars and thieves. We took our truck to David Smart to get a new motor and other work. Every week they came up with new repairs that needed to be done. We paid every time they said there was a new part or more work to do. After a year, we brought the truck home and it barely ran. We paid more than twice the initial quote. After having another expert mechanic take the motor apart, significant damage and subpar work was discovered.We took Smart Automotive to small claims court. At the first setting my husband agreed to a partial settlement amount. David Smart was ordered to pay installments on that judgement. He did not follow the judges order, and at a second court setting Smart Automotive was ordered to pay the full amount we had initially sued for. Months later, it has taken multiple visits to Smart Automotive by constable officers to finally collect a payment on the judgement.Aside from the lies, shoddy workmanship and horrible customer service, be warned of dealing with Danielle Smart. She is verbally abusive, makes unfounded threats and should absolutely not be in the business of dealing with customers.

Brought in car with bad rattling assuming the worst. In 5 minutes the car was fixed for free. Just needed a bracket secured. Because i am not an expert with exhaust systems, they could taken advantage of the situation. However they did not.

Well it may be long but warning this place is a lie they lie about everything and i worked at a rehab place before and tell you the guys working on your car are on drugs crack to be honest ! and stole about 3 dollars worth of change out my car,,, they scammed me as well changed a part that dint need to be changed and then acted like they did no what the problem was till i drove off and argued with me when your the car shop ... im going to bbb with this and im thinking about doing a charge back on my card even if i dont win the charge back i cant believe this place ..i came in think my thermostat was bad they admitted that teck said i dont think it her thermostat but they still put new one ended up being my fans and one job was 279 the fan job 400 these people just want to steal your money and when i was there another customer was having the same problem i was !!!! please dont go here they will scam you too!

I am on the fence with this one. Service was prompt and so far the repair seems to have corrected my engine cooling issue. My concern is the parts costs are a bit excessive. They charged me over just over $400 for a Dodge 1500 5.7L hemi radiator/ 2007.Also, there are online coupons for up to $50 off the cost of repairs. No mention of that when I arranged for the repair. Have your coupons in hand. I have upgraded my review because a phone call quickly resolved the coupon issue.
