My car was not starting unless I popped its hood and wiggled the battery! I recently changed the battery and was puzzled by this. I called ahead and they told me to come in and I was prepared to pay hundreds of dollar to fix. I came in and met with a mechanic and he looked and it and told me I just needed to tighten the terminal! He did that for me and washed the battery in less than 10 minutes! No charge! I was prepared to pay anything to have my car fixed but they simply tightened and gave me a thumbs up and I went on my way. Extremely professional, quick and honest! I am grateful!

My family has been coming to Sal’s for years. Clearly, the prices are fair, their approach with customers is honest, and the work is top quality. At the core, Sal believes that people are more important than cars, and it shows in the way he runs his business.

When you meet sal, you think that all your maintenance problems will be solved, he always saying we will make you happy my car has noise coming from the front left suspension system, they did test drive and chose the biggest expensive part struts to be replaced with a new ones for 900$ but still the noise coming out but they wanted to change more pieces at the left suspension and I have to pay for that, he said go, go, go and will call you back, more than two months and nobody called me, it is drama!, in this waiting time I went to another mechanic who fixed the noise for 200$, and he said to me it was not necessary to change the struts, I am not recomend them for Suspension System maintenance issues

Everyone was super friendly and helpful! I didn’t feel like they took advantage of me or my money. Honest, quick, helpful... they’ve earned my trust and business!

My 2015 Ford Transit ruptured an upper radiator hose. We took it to Sals late in the day and they got right on it. They fixed it that evening and let it set to leak check overnight. First thing the next morning, it was ready. I went ahead and had them install new brake pads and rotors, as well. Sal and his employees are first rate. They are knowledgeable, thorough, and are very good at explaining things. They are also quick to get you back on the road. They delivered both the repair and the brake job on time, as promised. On top of all that, they are all very warm and friendly, and that starts with Sal who sets the tone for everyone. I highly recommend this shop. They certainly earned my trust and admiration, as well as my gratitude. I wish more business were like this one.

These people are scam artists at its finest. They said that their the best diagnostic mechanic in Houston. My husband took his car up there to have the diagnostic test, which was $100 no problem, and they quoted us $1675 for parts and labor. The cat converter they said alone was $490 and everything else was labor besides the air injection pump. They said we couldnt beat that deal because it was the best price in Houston. We were about to pay but my he did his own research and bought the cat converter online for $190 and paid $100 for labor at a muffler shop! His car is running like we bought it brand new off the lot!!! We saved $1300!!! Please do not let them scam you!!!! Get a second quote!!!!! Get a second quote!!!!

Sal takes great care of his customers, the team completes their work with excellent quality, and they explain (in detail) the repair recommendations they make. I’m in the process of restoring a 99 mazda millennial a friend gave me a while back. i’ve taken it to several auto shops only to be lied to and taken advantage of, and was driving down Westheimer one day, and saw Sals auto repair, and decided to take it there, i was told by Sal “whoever worked on this car didn’t know what they were doing, i was both shocked and mad.. he said it needed a lot of work done to it, Mike, one of the mechanics said he could fix it, but it needed a lot of parts. I was able to find a dealership to buy the parts from … when i tell you both Mike and Sal did and are doing an excellent job getting it running right again believe me i can tell the difference.. Sal is honest and fair, Mike knows his stuff .. i highly recommend them .. good job guys.. 🙏🏻

Such an amazing place to go and get services done on your car. As a lady sometimes I dread going into a shop because I don’t trust what is being said to me! Not here, Sals guys are so genuine and helpful and work with you to understand what’s going on. They also provided dropped me off and picked me up so they could work on my car! I’m soooo glad I found them.

I am so glad I went to this repair shop. The entire staff there was honest, kind, and respectful. While waiting for my car to get repaired, I was dropped off at home, and paid way less than I expected to. I would highly recommend going to Sals. My biggest issue with car shops was that a lot of times people would take advantage of the fact that I knew little about cars, but at Sals I was given a full diagnose of my car, and had the issue fixed immediately. 10/10 would go again.

Sal is a good man. I stopped by to put air in my rear tires, and his crew found nails in both rear tires. They repaired my tires on the spot and were fast, professional and friendly. I was told it would be $10 per tire. As I went in to pay, Sal said “don’t worry about it, it’s on me today.” Talk about paying it forward! I went in because I was having an issue with the car starting sure enough someone looked at my car and explained the difference between my alternator and battery going bad. Its nice for mechanics to take the time to explain things the way it used to be. It was appreciated!

First Impressions:I was referred here by many coworkers that have brought their cars here for years, so I have heard mostly good things. Getting your car serviced is like going to the doctor. So I always look for places and people that will make my experience as pleasant as possible. The man up front wasnt having a great day, but still very knowledgeable and knew how to help. In addition, to my surprise, the next day he called and apologized if he showed any signs of not being his 100%. This is a great sign of integrity. He is a genuine guy.Sal quickly came up and introduced himself and talked me through the process, even though he was already on his way out the door, he stopped to help me out. I also got to meet the master mechanic who would be working on my BMW 5 series, and he seemed to have good knowledge of the n55 engine. I am a firm believer of bringing cars to places like this over dealerships because there is usually more passion in the ownership, and your not just a number.I will add more once I get my car back.(Edit): After receiving my car back with new plugs and ignition coils the car is now in limp mode. Sal told me to bring it to the BMW dealer. Hoping a software glitch can fix the car as it has fixed others with this problem. So far I still believe that Sal is an honest guy deep down. BMWs are just very complicated machines and the dealers do have the best technology to fix them.Based on my experience (its kind of like going to the dentist with a tooth ache and leaving with more pain than I started with, I still trust these guys and will bring my car back in the future when needed.

Ive never had to wait, they go above and beyond on all of their services, and their prices are much better than other places Ive tried in the Galleria area. This place is amazing. I never know about it. I was given a gift certificate from my church and they said they will always treat you right. I was skeptical, but they truly do. I had a faulty steering pump I brought it in they changed it with a new one but the part was making a noise. And they were not going to stop until it was right, little more work and my jeep works flawlessly now. And a great price these guys know how to treat people. Thank you guys

I replaced the clutch on my car in another store and when I picked the car up the Check Engine light was on. They lied to me and told me the Check Engine Light came on before they did any work on the car, but they told me not to worry as they checked the O2 sensors and they were ok. They said that the light would magically go away after driving it for a while. The engine light not only didnt go away, but stalled on me 3 times, it was idling rough, felt like it was choking, so I took it back. After 2 days, they gave up on me and told me the computer is bad because it thought the O2 sensors were bad.Took the car and brought it to Sals. 30 minutes after I dropped it off, he called me and said to me Whoever replaced your clutch, did a lousy job. When they put the transmission in, they accidentally cut the O2 sensor wires and instead of replacing them, they tried to clap them back together. My circumstances were that I needed the car to be fixed as soon as possible as I was shipping it overseas the next day. One day later at 8 AM, I got a called saying Your car is ready.Wish I had known Sals before.

My dad wont let me go anywhere besides this place. My dads super hard to impress. They give great advicd and great service.

Sals Westheimer Auto Service is the place for honest, friendly, affordable auto repair. Sal has be there since 1995, and Sal is there everyday with a warm greeting. When I first went to Sals shop, I accidentally went to the other shop on Chimney Rock, and soon realized that I was at the wrong shop. Sals shop is on Westheimer, directly behind the Exxon carwash.

Great place to take your car, they do great with both normal stuff and non-routine maintenance.

However, the brief and blunt no conveys they dont care unless you openly express your frustration. This is an example of when a business does so well that they lose sight of quality customer service***The last service they take on Saturdays is 1:30PM because they close at 3:00, thats understandable. BUT TWICE I came on a Saturday once at 1:31PM and the second time at 1:30PM, they refused to take me in for a synthetic oil change because they said they close at 3:00PM. I even pointed at the clock as I pleaded to get my oil changed and they still unapologetically said no.

Had engine mounts installed and they installed and billed for three, I found out that they only installed two. Furthermore, one of the ones replaced was the wrong mount.Also, had them replace the power window controller and somehow they messed the window carrier and it wouldnt shut properly.The job they do seems to be really good at first but then after a couple months the lack of completeness in the work starts to show.

Out of town on work when my truck broke down. Sals had my truck back on the road, good to go in less than 24! Life savers.

The friendly staff at Sals saved me over $500 on an issue as compared to what Classic Chevrolet of Houston at 7000 Southwest Fwy, Houston, TX 77074 quoted me on. I will be bringing my business back to Sals moving forward.

I normally do not review businesses, but after reading the mixed reviews about Sals, I figured someone out there might benefit from my experience.My car was making a really weird noise when I would press on the gas pedal. Being a woman, I have never really felt comfortable at any mechanic shop. I searched highly rated shops nearby and found 2. Both were telling me that it would be 2-3 hours before a mechanic could even look at my car. I called Sals third - Sal answered and told me to come in and that they would see me right away! I hurried over and surely enough, he welcomed me and had a mechanic look at my car. I asked them to go ahead and change my oil while they diagnosed it.Everything about my initial experience was great. The waiting area was nice and clean - warm, inviting, free mints, plenty of magazines, and Sal was personally making a fresh cup of coffee. There were 3 other women in the room with me. All of them were telling Sal that they were happy with their quick and friendly service; they all had be referred there by friends. One lady (who was there for an inspection) was who happy with her experience, she was asking one of the technicians about future services. The man politely told her that she had a new car and that she should continue to go to her dealership for maintenance until their warranty ended THEN he would be happy to take care of her car. A mechanic turning away business because he didnt want to nullify her warranty? NO WAY. Sal came in and told me that he had 2 mechanics opinions on my car and that it was my engine mount that needed replacement. He took the time to explain everything and told me he could get my parts ordered and in the shop in the next 2-3 days, gave me an estimate on cost and time, as well as telling me when I could drop off my car again. He even let me leave my invoice open for my oil change until my car was repaired later in the week.I dropped off my car later in the week and went about my day. Sal called me back once they got to my car. Although the news was not what I wanted, I appreciated that he called me for approval before working on it - the price went up once they actually were able to get a better look. It was still within my budget, so I approved and they finished up work. Once again, Sal called and let me know when it was ready. Everything was very professional. I loved it. When I picked up my car, it was nice and clean and was no longer making that noise. Unfortunately, during the rest of the night, I had some issues with my dashboard lighting up with maintenance required and the battery light among others. I noticed my car wasnt starting smoothly. I was terribly bummed because I had already recommended him to several friends after my first experience. I knew my car had to go back in the next morning.The next morning my car was completely dead. I couldnt even start it. I got a jump and managed to get to AutoZone to get a battery. Long story short, after a long run around...I got a new battery and alternator and had the alternator installed at another shop (of a mechanic that happened to be in AutoZone at the time I was buying the battery). Little did I know this would be the biggest mistake. Not only did they not communicate properly, their original estimate of 2 hours turned into 6 hours and they raised the estimate on me. The mechanic installed the alternator improperly and more noises started up.I took my car back to Sals Monday morning and Sal welcomed me once again. He told me that I did NOT need a new alternator at all and that the other mechanic did not tighten all the bolts. Sal repaired all of this for me completely FREE of charge because he didnt want to see me stranded! I cannot thank him enough. While in the waiting room, there were 2 other ladies. One was telling me how she loved Sals so much. Shes been a customer for 17 years and sees Sals as a hospital for her car - not the best place for it to be, and you know you will be spending money, BUT its the best care you can get. I couldnt agree more.

Long story short.13 year old car. Had 1/2 tank gas in it. Usually takes 200 to then put on the refill gas light. Car came back with buried gauge and an engine light on. NICE.Gas gauge stopped working too. Car stalls, wont start or stay started.It is in worse shape than when I took it in..........................I am a woman. The car is 13 years old. It was apparently too much for the driver to wrestle to put in just $5 to keep it off of running it till it was empty. The brilliance is they should have charged me for the gas...................Wow, news flash in Texas.No this was done deliberately to drum up business. Because women get charged $1000 no matter what. Simple battery change. Yes maam, that will be $1000 and we provide more damage to your car to insure you are fkd and have to bring it back.Windshield wiper change; You got it, please pay in advance your minimum $1000,and we will complete mess up something more valuable in the process. Texas style.So that is the short of it. Cant tell with the work that was actually supposed to be done, that yes, I paid $2000 for. The alignment is crap, but they got their 100 miles of joy riding out of my tank of gas.Getting used to pulling off the ramp to the side of the road in STALL mode and sitting for 30 minutes. Barely making it out of my apartment complex only to stall at the stop light. But who has another $1000 to throw away week after week. Great.Welcome to Texas. I hate Texas.You have been warned.
