Okay…um… WOW!!! To say I was blown away by this place is an understatement. I have never been ANYWHERE, much less an auto repair shop, that showed this level of dedication to quality and service, and honestly just being kind human beings.Before going in, I was doing the whole “okay if it’s less than $100 I’ll do it, if over I’ll just live with it” conversation that I do before most “big-ticket” repair expenses. The bill? $20. Between their professionalism, their service quality, their service speed, I mean everything about them… If I could give more than 5 stars I would. I mean WOW!!!!!

I can’t recommend Ron’s enough. First of all, it’s a family run business & they’re great to interact with. James is the tech who works for them and he’s a great mechanic and a very detail oriented person. I brought my vehicle here for a timing belt change and they did it in a timely fashion as well as kept me informed during the process. They recommended a radiator replacement which I agreed to. Unfortunately the replacement radiator started leaking and I was expecting to pay a lot more out of pocket. After discussing with them they honored warranty and labor on their work and the part. Their work ethics and customer service has really impressed me. If you’re in the downtown area and need some work done, check them out!

Just like everyone else... a mechanic with a 4.9 rating?!? Yeah, they’re legit. Friendly, honest, and efficient. Came in right before closing and looked at an alternator issue in my truck. Made arrangements to bring it back the next morning, and was in & out in just a couple hours. Definitely an honest, personable “small town feel” right in the middle of Midtown. Will definitely return.

Trustworthy place, which is most important quality of a mechanic. They understand the last thing people want to do is drop big money on a repair and will try their best to avoid that. I will take my cars here in the future!

Very disappointing. I made an appointment on Tuesday to drop my car off for brakes. On the day of my service, I go in at 8 am to be told that my appointment is invalid. I feel like I was discriminated against because the moment I show up, I am told that my car cant be serviced because you dont deal with drum brakes. Well, now I have to spend time looking for another shop. I will not recommend it.

Im relatively new to the area and called around 5+ different shops for quotes on work I needed for my brakes, then I saw the reviews on here and figured it was worth a shot, and I can see why theyre so highly rated now.First, Nicks customer service is fantastic. Great guy who isnt there to hustle you. Quality and timing of the work is superb and very quick. Shop is very clean, people are friendly. Shifting arm was loose and wobbling. They used genuine parts, and repairs were great! Came back to get timing and drive belts changed, will be back soon for valve covers! Best mechanic I have found in years! Highly recommend!

Totally approved. I don’t understand anything about car’s engine and also I am a non-native speaker, what makes things harder when I have to take my car to the mechanic, but I have had very good experiences with Ron’s. Every time I took my vehicle to them, Nick was super honest about what I really needed to get fixed or not, and provided a good and fast service. I strongly recommend them.

Michael and his crew are great! I wanted a good place to bring my C7 Stingray and wanted honesty in the diagnosis of the vehicle. They checked it out, quickly told me the problem and quoted me a fair and reasonable price. They then repaired the problem before noon! They dont know it yet but Rons Downtown Automotive is going to get all of my business and my Friends as well!

Earlier this year, my 10-year old car was experiencing engine misfiring as I drove into my office downtown. I quickly Googled the nearest, high-rated auto service shop and Rons was top of the list. I was able to get my car to Ron and his awesome staff in time. They quickly were able to diagnose the issue and even came up with an interim solution so I could decide if and when I wanted to put the money into a total fix. I really appreciated their kindness and honesty, and felt no pressure at any time to put more money into my car than necessary. I would highly recommend taking your car here! Their high ratings are well-deserved.

I never leave reviews but this place is amazing and worth it. I have been recommending Ron’s Downtown Auto to my friends and family for years. I had just moved to Houston in June 2015 when my AC stopped working. I went to another place that quoted me $2500 plus labor for a full AC replacement. In a panic, I looked online for a shop with good ratings and gave Rons a call for a second opinion. Micheal answered and offered to evaluate my car that day. He immediately noticed that my condenser fan was not working and that we can start with replacing that and see if the issue is resolved. That replacement was going to cost about $160. The next day he called me and told me it was actually just the fuse to the condenser fan and I only paid $70 for the repair. Three years later my AC still works great. I have gone to them several times since them for minor repairs and received the same amount of honesty and professionalism. 12/10 recommend.

I must echo the comments of previous customers. Michael and his team are great. I was very concerned about finding a mechanic to do work on my Mercedes vehicle outside of the dealership. Very impressed with the level of service received by Michael and the rest of the crew. Explained the issue I was having with my car to Michael and after a joint test drive he managed to follow up and promptly fix the issue at a reasonable price point. Certainly much better than the experince Ive had with my BMW dealer.

I went here to check up on my car given I had the service history but no way of knowing for sure what was and wasn’t done to it. They were welcoming, informative, and helpful. It got a bit awkward at times but they cleared up some questions I had and offered me their price. Their price was higher than the dealer I visited to my surprise but I liked the parts they were going to use more and that should also be considered.After weighing my options, I decided to buy the parts myself and some extra tools. I’ve done work on cars as a helper before so wanted to get some of those benefits back up to scuff. If I’m ever in the area again and don’t have the time to DIY maintenance/repairs, I’ll be paying them another visit.

Mike (the owner) is a low key guy that will try to fix whatever is going wrong with your car. Ive had a control arm changed, and A/C system (compressor, condenser, dryer, etc.) changed by him. Hes a straight shooter and wont BS you- he let me buy the parts myself, then installed them, and only charged me labor.

Nick was very professional and helped me repair my car which another local shop was unable to do. He treated my car like his own and even charged less for labor than other nearby shops. You can tell these guys take pride in their work just by looking how clean the shop is. I highly recommend this shop as they were very knowledgable and honest when working on my car. I will return with all my repairs going forward.

The people here are actual people. They are helpful and do their best to make you whole. I had my AC compressor and dryer fail on me, and I was quoted for the job. It turned out when they were removing the dryer that the condenser was full of desiccant (absorbent material) that came out of the old dryer. They stuck to their original quote and replaced the condenser along with all the other parts originally quoted. Plus, I received excellent customer service. This place is the bomb. The only caveat is that you need to leave while they work on your car. They dont have a real waiting room and prefer for customers to come back when its finished.

Was looking for a place to fix my window and saw the 5.0 review and decided to test the reviews. I can say that you will not be disappointed!They told me what was wrong and what the price range for fixing it was with multiple price range parts. He said that we could shop around if I wanted. That wasnt necessary as my boyfriend had already did some of that prior to going there and found that he price was a great deal for the quality parts (no made in china).If I ever have problems with my car I will definitely be returning here.

Rons did a fantastic job with a pre-purchase inspection of a car I ended up purchasing. I decided to use Rons based on online reviews and found this shop to be even more fair, thorough, honest and competent than I had expected. They found a several minor issues and were able to tell me what issues were necessary to fix, which were not problematic, and which were things to keep an eye on. Highly recommended.

Great place to bring your car! Very friendly people here. Had a hose replaced with aftermarket but made a lot of noise. They replaced with a OEM part and noise was gone. They didnt try to add any extra stuff or say stuff was wrong that wasnt. Car was inspected by them and they took their time looking over it. Id recommend this place if youre looking for repairs/maintenance or just need a car looked at.

Ron and his mechanics are very helpful. I just did a complete a/c repair job on my 2000 toyota tacoma and Ron helped me with evacuating the system and refilling once I did the work. He charged my hardly anything. The real compliment is that Ron took the time to discuss my possible problems and then answered my phone call on two different occasions to talk to me and answer questions I had while I was doing the repair. This is quality service and I will be doing business with them again.

I took my car (2005 Nissan Murano) in here with a couple of partially known issues. I already knew that I had a damaged CV joint, and I knew that there was an issue with the radiator as my coolant was disappearing. They quickly identified the damage to the radiator and recommended replacing both the radiator and the damaged half shaft. I agreed with the recommendation and got pricing for all the parts and labor. I did some research on expected costs for these repairs, and the pricing at Rons was right near the bottom of the range.I ended up getting the radiator replaced that day. I needed my car the next day, faster than they could get the axle replaced, so I took my car back and brought it back in about a week later. They got the axle replaced quickly as well.All in all, a very good experience. They quickly identified what was wrong, didnt try to upsell me, and did good quality work. They also recommended the amount of time that I could afford to drive around with the existing CV joint problem, and some signs to watch out for that would mean the joint was deteriorating. I will definitely bring my car here the next time it needs service.While I was there, I noticed a large variety of cars in the shop. There were some older value cars like mine, as well as some pretty nice newer German cars (Audi, BMW, Mercedes).

I dont take the time to write a lot of reviews, but Rons deserves it.After looking around at reviews for auto places near my house, I decided to give Rons a try. I have nothing but the highest praise for what Michael and his staff do. These are probably, no, definitely the most honest mechanics Ive worked with (and Ive been to quite a few...). Michael has never even attempted to up-sell me, but constantly does what you would want in a mechanic: treat your car like he would his own.He is happy to offer advice, but its always nuanced and hes not afraid to suggest getting a second opinion just to let you know hes doing his best.Short anecdote: took my wifes car (Nissan Rogue) to the dealership in houston for a recall; it came back with the recall fixed and a whole laundry list of things that needed immediate attention. I politely declined and took said list to Rons to have them check it out. Many of the things the dealership suggested werent even necessary (is anyone surprised?). And, the repairs that did need attention, Michael gave me a timeframe on when to reasonably do them, ranking them in priority, quoted me prices (told me what he could save me money on compared to the dealer, and things he couldnt), and didnt try to push me into anything. The best customer service experience one could ask for at a mechanic, no?Ive now been taking both my and my wifes car to them since we moved into the neighborhood a couple months back. Our cars have been running better and better since Ive been taking them there, and thats a huge compliment; especially for toll that Houston roads take on any vehicle.Cant praise these guys high enough; theyre doing great work at extremely reasonable costs. First class BMW service:I have a 2011 BMW M3 which recently came off warrantly. Michael and his team provided first class service on a my car with full transpearncy of the OEM BMW fluids and parts used on my car for the recent servicing. Excellent communication, quick service and a follow up afterwards to ensure everything was up to my satisfaction. I highly recommend.

Very very polite, diagnosed my brake problem correctly and didnt upsell me on brake fixes I didnt need (I initially thought my front pads were the problem, it was the rear caliper). Time was taken to show me the problem and the work they did and they even washed my car for me too, a nice touch.
