This hotel was great! Business center was good but a bit pricey when I had to print something for work. The facilities were good. Food was good. Service was excellent. They did a good job of keeping the homeless/transient/druggies out of the hotel. It is just sad to see so many of these people in Waikiki in general. My mobile key worked about 75% of the time.
Loved our stay here! As an Ambassador Elite, I would come back here in a heartbeat! We got an amazing room upgrade!! Our door key didnt work when we first arrived but the front desk got us free breakfast for the week because of the inconvenience. We loved the Kuhio Grill and ate lunch or breakfast there most days. The walk to the beach was easy and both pools were very nice! The yard games were a nice touch as well.
Absolutely gorgeous hotel right on Waikiki Beach. There were many photo shoots while we were there if that tells you anything. Also made getting to some of the amenities difficult at times.
It was a great experience. I had a fantastic birthday at this place. I was greeted with cupcakes and champagne, and we had Ocean side view. Overall, great experience.
Great staff. Ideal location. Great views. Just across from the beach
The hotel is very modern and CLEAN my view was from the balcony was everything!! I could wake up to the sun and calming water everyday. They upgraded my room for me which was a bonus and sent champagne to my room upon arriving. I felt like a celebrity. The staff was very helpful and gave recommendations on places to eat and sights to visit. I used the gym and the laundry room, making reservations for both was super easy and upon arriving it was sanitized.I really enjoyed my stay here. I would definitely stay here again.
Its nice, but as someone who is no stranger to spending money, I just cant get over the seemingly continuous lack of value. Breakfast for two (eggs) + a bowl of oatmeal for $77.00 seems a bit steep. That being said, rooms are clean and the staff is great. Theres just a seeming miss when it comes to culture, decor, and Hawaiian vibe. Its Waikiki beach; it should feel like Hawaii. It just doesnt. The service is good. The place is clean, but its sterile and without a doubt; overpriced.
We had an amazing trip in Hawaii as we stayed for a week in the Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa. In addition to your stay our family purchased the top level suite; therefore, enabling us an opportunity to the lounge. There area a variety of foods, desserts, and beverages available with fantastic seating and views. This specific location was so accommodating. Obviously the beach is below, but this location was within walking distance to tour buses and there is a plethora of taxis to take you just about anywhere.During our trip the weather was so nice that we just left the screen door to the porch open at night and in the morning hours, as the clouds captivated your inner spirit. In the early morning hours, around 3am, it was the most peaceful thing sitting on the balcony hearing the waves, seeing surfers going on into the ocean, and the wonderful colors of the sky.If you stay at this location you will not be let down.1. There is a beautiful walking area to the right of the hotel where trees overshadow the sunlight and the flowers (and nature) put you into a different mindset.2. Plenty of places to eat inside the hotel and past the walking area I mentioned above. Trust me when I say it is not far at all.
Great service. Great location. Could use a bit of remodeling.
This was our first visit to Hawaii and we decided to book with Wakiki beach resort after viewing their packages online. We got the ocean view room with balcony and were extremely excited to wake up every morning to the beach views from our window, but unfortunately the room we received had a side view of the ocean and the rest was city view. I wouldn’t have minded having a side view of the ocean if that was what was promoted online and while the rooms are beautiful inside it does not compensate for the lack of scenery. We spoke with the front desk staff and was informed that the room we got was what was advertised and if we wanted a better view of the beach then we should’ve booked the premium ocean view room. The premium ocean view uses the same marketing images as the regular ocean view, so for the average consumer it is practically impossible to tell the difference. This was a downer on our first Hawaiian vacation I would recommend for any traveler to look elsewhere before booking at the wakiki beach resort as the location is not ideal and the staff fails to go above and beyond for their guests.
Wow! So excited to come back! Booked this resort for a fantastic price at ʜᴏᴛᴇʟʙᴜʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏᴍ I like this hotel and Im so grateful I stayed at my favorite place for much less than what I normally pay.Just a great hotel with excellent views. The staff top to bottom are very good at making you welcome to their home. We will definitely book another stay there.
Chinnie, our chamber maid was superb on floor 19. She always made sure we had what we needed. We were there a week and she worked hard to make our stay, pleasant!
Friendly staff especially Ron. Great view of the mountain and ocean. We were in a family suite. The beds are comfortable. The room was clean. Great location for food and beach access. The hotel offers hydration stations. If its hot you will utilize them frequently. Sign up for the hotel activities early. The spots are limited. I loved how we could check out movies like Red Box.
Room was nice. View was nice. Concierge Matt was not friendly at all. We ask him about fun things to do. He took out a map of the island and drew a line around the island and circled a few beaches. I asked him if there was anything he could recommend besides a few beaches. He replied that he didnt want us to be disappointed if the places were booked. He never offered to check on line or call or provide us with names of places so we could call. I have never encountered a Concierge at a hotel less interested in assisting guests as Matt. Very disappointed in Marriott for having someone in that position who clearly does not have inthusiasm for his job.
I intentionally choice Marriott hotels because I love their beds and services. This time I was disappointed; the bed was hard as rock. I woke up on my first morning with aches and pain. I requested a better mattress and they covered the bed with a mattress cover, as if that was supposed to change it from being a brick. On top of it all, the water system was turned off on our last day there. Im not sure if they expected us to shower at the beach or what. They didnt offered regular cleaning services, but we could request it if needed. It would have been nice to have food and a bar close by, but it was a walk to get anything to eat. Hopefully after covid-19, theyll do better. The streets are constantly noisy, but once the patio door is closed it takes care of the noise. Its a great location to the beach and shopping area. I only true complain is the bed.
Pros:1. Shower is pretty comfortable.2. Cultural classes are interesting to join.3. TV is good and new.4. Front desk service is good and efficient.Cons:1. Poor sound insulation in the room. I can clearly hear people talking from other rooms.2. Wifi is super slow. Can never use it to play any games. Barely enough for social media.3. Location is poor. Far from everything.4. The coffee in room tastes bad.Disappointed in general. Will not return in the future if other places are available.
Booked a one night stay with suite upgrade, the hotel is lovely and the staff were so pleasant. Arrived hungry, we enjoyed our dinner so much we went back for breakfast, again great food and wonderful staff. Our view from the 30th floor was beautiful. The location is an easy walk to the zoo and aquarium. Already planning our next visit, will definitely stay longer. 🙂
We spent a week at the Marriott hotel my wife and I loved it . The only downside was the rooms not being cleaned everyday because of covid and staff shortages. Also we had a beach front with balcony room it had amazing view only issue is at night you can hear all the homeless people they fight or argue at night and it can take away from sitting on balcony at night and watching and listening to the waves . But hotel staff are amazing everyone was very friendly and always willing to help we will be back next May 2022 and definitely stay here again . The hotel is in the middle of everything in Waikiki beach .
Great location, rooms are a very good size. The A/C has trouble keeping up unless you leave the curtains shut. But the view from the upper floors is amazing.
Started off a little bumpy, but thanks to Christian he turned it all around.Mahalo Christian for your understanding and thoughtfulness!Looking forward to returning next month.
The good: the view from our balcony of Waikiki. The room appeared to have been updated. The cons: Not good for kids. Pool at our tower was under construction and even when it’s done it’ll just be a small rectangle pool.No way the beds were queen sized. At most they were double beds. My wife and I barely got a good night’s sleep while we were there.Resort fee of $37 a night is not optional, and literally only pays for WiFi. There are zero other “resort” amenities. Very sad property.Self parking is $45 a night and multiple nights there were zero spots available on any of the six floors. Not to mention that it’s incredibly tight and there were many times we had to back up so another car could turn the corner.Only restaurant option was Kuhio Grill. No lie, if you wanted some toast for breakfast it was $8. $8 FOR TOAST. Pancakes were $20. A single kid’s sized glass of white milk was $5. The “continental breakfast” was some non-fresh mixed fruit, 2 oz. of plain yogurt, and 2 oz. of granola. The cost was $14.All-in-all, no way I would stay here again. We spent as little time as we could there.m for the week we visited.
My family and I stayed at the Marriott in Waikiki for a week. In terms of the pros, it is a close walk to the beach, easy walk to Starbucks and ABC stores which has everything you need for your stay in Honolulu. The hotel is very clean and the cleaning staff are always dusting and mopping the floors. We enjoyed the fresh flower lei making class that was included in our resort fees. They have lots of restaurants within a 10 minute walking distance on the main strip. Although, most of them are very expensive and you can easily spend $50/person to eat dinner unless you eat fast food every night. Cons of the trip are that they are very short-staffed. Every place in Waikiki is hiring after the COVID-19 pandemic. If you dont mind standing in line for an hour or more to get lunch, check in to the hotel, or even purchase an ice cream, then this is the place for you. Also, there is only one pool open at the Marriott. The other larger pool is under construction. Our view from our room was of the construction of the pool. The air conditioning is subpar, and acts more like a fan. If you have more than two people in a room, you will get two double beds, which are very small. The queen and king beds are always taken.
Easy check in. Great room with a very nice view. The heated toilet seat was also a nice surprise. 😁
Good location. But rooms were okay and service was also okay. Seemed pretty dead to me.
I chose to stay at this property because of the new renovated rooms. The rooms are very spacious and beautifully redone but I dont like the availability of beds in a single room. We are a family of four and usually just get one room. If you are not getting a suite, then you only have the option of a room with one king, one queen, or two doubles. We did a room with two doubles and it was not a comfortable sleeping arrangement. If traveling as a family I would recommend getting more than one room or a suite. I wish there was an option of a room with two queens.
Just a great hotel with excellent views. The staff top to bottom are very good at making you welcome to their home. We will definitely book another stay there.
Great staff and services. Room was decent and accommodating. One of the best values for the location.
First of all, the hotel was nice and the room at the Kealohilani tower was very spacious and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. However, the general manager needs to take another look at how rooms are categorized.I received room 1831 and it is clearly not Ocean Front. I am facing the buildings and the view of the ocean comprises approximately 20% of the view from my room (see photos). I stayed in many Ocean Front rooms before, as well as Premium Ocean View and just regular Ocean View rooms, and this is absolutely not the Ocean Front room as Marriott claims it to be. In fact, Marriott categorized the whole side of the Kealohilani tower as Ocean Front while it is not even good Ocean View from the room. Of course, if I go to my balcony, all the way out, and face the ocean, I see the ocean. The view is magnificent. However, when I am booking, I am booking an Ocean Front ROOM, not Ocean Front BALCONY.I spoke to general manager about this and he is going to take a look at how the rooms categorized so I expect this issue to be fixed in the upcoming months.
My family just recently returned from a beautiful mini vacation in Oahu, specifically, Waikiki. It was a very relaxing and fun stay.Positives/pros:Upon checking in, I requested to be moved to ground floor or the closest floor to ground level due to having a toddler. The receptionist kindly accommodated my request and moved my family into a smaller room with a more upscale modern look. The only problem was that it was smaller than what we had originally booked. The room I had originally booked was a family room with 2 queen size beds. The room we were moved into had 2 full sized bed and very small. So I had called the front desk again to inform her about the size of the room and beds. She quickly moved us back into our original room that we had booked because there were no other family rooms close to ground floor. When we entered our room, it was very huge with not only 2 queen beds, but 2 extra twin beds. Each of my kids had their own beds. The view was spectacular and so was the room—spacious and clean. The location of this hotel is literally close to everything and anything you need. What’s even better is that it’s located right in front of the beach.Negatives/Cons:The parking fee was ridiculous! $45 for one night! I parked my rental car in the garage for 2 nights and they literally charged me for 4 nights for $200, including tax. Then they had the nerve to include additional taxes & fees that I was not aware of nor was I informed on when I checked out . My husband talked to the front desk about it and they assured him that they will credit everything back within a few days or so. Hopefully they stay true to their word. I will update this review of any changes. In summary, this place is a beautiful place to stay at but be prepared for the ridiculous fees and charges.
The pool closed really early before 8 other then that it was amazing.
The hotel was good and in a great location. However, here are some pros and cons: PROS - 1) the hotel is directly across the street from the beach; 2) the room and hotel was clean; 3) Richard at check-in was extremely friendly... Overall, a decent place to stay, but no extras!CONS - 1) the hotel charged us a resort fee, but everything in the hotel was closed due to renovations; 2) housekeeping only came the first day, we had to ask for housekeeping the remainder of our stay; 3) there was trash and old lunchmeat (yes, lunchmeat) in the bottom of the ice machine, gross, so no ice for us; 4) our mini fridge did not work; 5) when we asked for more towels some were dirty; and 6) the concierge had a lack luster attitude (he didnt seem enthusiastic about selling) you are better off booking things on the strip at the tour vendor store to get the best experience during your trip!
Location of the hotel is second to none but the staff is what makes this place so good. I’ve never stayed in a hotel where the staff were so friendly and helpful before!!
We had a very enjoyable stay. The staff was friendly and helpful. The cleaning staff did an excellent job and were very kind. The room was clean and everything was as expected.
This is in such a nice location! On the beach, and close to all the shops. The beds were amazing and my toilet had a bidet. So yeah, it was great!
Really loved this hotel. The decor on the inside was very well decorated and everything was nice and clean. The rooms were spacious and welcoming, staff was friendly and helpful. The location was very convenient for walking to the beach, local eateries, and a few attractions. The shopping and gift shops, pool area, and outdoor seating area were also very nice and relaxing. I have already recommended this place to friends who have now booked here as well. Hope they enjoy it as much as I did!
Best place in hawaii! me, tiffany & jaden loved the rooms. we hung at midnight it was lots of fun.And we watched movies . like Barneys Musical Castle
Big resort with two towers. Good ocean views. Most restaurants were open but expensive. Good was fine at Arancini and Kuhio Grill but not gourmet. Some higher selections like sea bass and rib eye.
Love this hotel. Perfect location right across from the swim beach at Waikiki. And the views can not be beat, Nice self park garage. The pool was recently remodeled and is much improved. The only thing I dislike is the overpriced breakfast at the Kuhio Beach Grill. But I never go there si ce there is a DK Steakhouse and many other eating options near by.
I offer mobile hair salon services, everytime I come to the Marriott i get excelent customer services at the cortesy desk, thank you!
First off for two days we had no running water and still had to pay full price. We also had terrible wifi and still had to pay full price even though we often had no wifi the entire day. The last day of our stay we found a ROACH in our bed and it was larger than normal. When we called the front desk to take care of it they didn’t even do anything but spray some stuff and then it came back! Overall the only good thing about the hotel is the location, never staying again!
Expensive, but you do get what you pay for. The rooms were immaculate and huge. Not much of a line at the front desk and staff were pleasant. The pool was pretty unremarkable, but totally satisfying to go for a dip. Plus the beach is across the street. The open-air lobby is gorgeous and a great place to relax if you need to wait for any reason. This hotel is pretty centrally located so there is a lot to see and do within walking distance. I would definitely stay here again if I had the money (which I dont).
Has an amazing time. The bed wasnt comfortable. It could be firmer.
Overall fairly Unaccommodating. Reservations are required for the gym and laundry. Reservations fill up quick. I was kicked out of the gym for going over the reserved time (1 hour). You also need to stop at the front desk before going to the gym. There are no exceptions for laundry, they will not work with you or grant access outside of a booked laundry reservation.
Im giving it only 3 stars, the view was great. Prices were expensive, as expected... but not for the factor of someone trying to kick in our door around 4amish. This was very upsetting, because I had my 4 year old with us. Very scary experience, and after that I couldnt sleep. I didnt feel safe, and it was our last night there. Honestly, I will not be coming back to this hotel due to this reason.
Highly recommend! Very clean, helpful concierge, convenient store right downstairs. Beautiful ocean views.
I would never recommend this property to anyone who wants a restful vacation on the island. It is loud, totally over-priced, and if you aren’t sad every single day about the mentally ill homeless population all over Waikiki you just don’t have a heart.
The hotel beautiful. The menu at the hotel is very limited. On our third night there, there was a burning smell and all elevators were either getting stuck or not allowed to be used. The hot tub was not in working condition, however the pool is open. But who needs it with a beach right outside lol. The view was absolutely amazing from my balcony and the room was clean. Icing was it literally is right on Waikiki Beach. I
This was an amazing vacation and you have to have a good hotel to make it complete. Room was very clean and comfortable.
Marriott needs to be more upfront with the condition of this place right now - as of February 2021 Waikiki beach is closed in front of the resort, so you have to walk either way to get to the beach. Also, there’s only 1 tower operational with a very, very small pool. There’s lots of construction going on at the actual resort, so the sound of jackhammering and the scent of concrete is ever present during the day. Hawaii is great, of course but there are much better options in the Waikiki area.
Marriott thankfully moved us to a better location after we booked here. The rooms were recently renovated but the rest of the hotel was under construction and nothing was opened including the majority of the beach right in front of the hotel. The smell and sound of construction and lack of beach access made us immediately cancel our reservation. The hotel should post all of these issues to their page prior to guests booking. I’d look at the Sheraton, Royal Hawaiian, or Westin Moana down the way for direct beach access and tons of restaurants and shopping.
Location, location, location. Directly across the street from the beach, structure oriented such that 90% of the rooms have water views. Professional, polite, unobtrusive staff. Rooms tastefully decorated in understated elegance. Highly recommend.
Nice place to stay. Specially if you must stay on pier diem rates.
Positive: The hotel is close to most Honolulu attractions. The ocean view from the balcony is fantastic. Hotel staffs are extremely friendly and helpful. Negative: We had a two-double-bed room. It would be better to have two queen beds in the room for better sleep for a family of four.
Perfect location, friendly service, clean and comfortable rooms. Restaurants, bar, shops closed. Hotel feels empty, no character. Try it again after Covid-19, but for now its just lifeless and sterile.
My husband and I recently stayed here and did not have a good experience. Everything in the hotel such as food and things were closed. We are American Express Platinum card holders and we pay an annual fee of $550 just to be able to utilize the perks of the card for Marriott. We also have the Marriot bonvoy cards with annual fees. All of our purchases are based around gaining points for travel either southwest or Marriott. You can imagine my disappointment when we spent 255,000 points which is thousands and thousands of dollars worth of spending to gain the points and getting to the hotel and the hotel staff not being friendly or helpful. We originally booked with the upgrade option so we paid additional points to guarantee an upgraded room. I called Marriott (which has a 30 minute wait time) and requested them to put the points back for the upgrade and elected to chance being able to use our bonvoy status to upgrade. Upon getting to the hotel the front desk staff seemed so nice and said she had an upgrade for us. We got into our room and we’re immediately disappointed when I found out they still had charged me the points for the upgrade. We were “upgraded” to a room thats balcony was facing where they were working on the pool so there was constant noise and nothing peaceful about it. Want to sit on your balcony and enjoy some morning coffee and listen to the waves? Think again, all you’ll hear is their equipment. Not to mention I’m 7 months pregnant and the pool was on the complete other side of the hotel so we never even went to it. The line for the elevators was RIDICULOUS! They only allow one family per elevator and when you try to come down they stop on every single floor because people are constantly trying to get on one. We were on the fifteenth floor and my husband took the stairs several times because it was quicker if we needed something from the room. When I noticed I was still charged the points for the upgrade I contacted the hotel (on my second day out of five staying with them) and they were no help at all. The manager told me I had to call Marriott bonvoy so I did and they opened a case number and I haven’t heard a word. Ive called them back several times and waited the 30 minutes just to not be helped. The management and staff are absolutely no help. The toilet in the room we were in did not work properly and we had to flush it on average of three times to get it to go down.
Great service, rooms are great, very comfortable and close to beach.
The room was kept very clean and felt nice and cozy. I loved the views of the ocean and diamond head from my room. Couldn’t have asked for a better hotel in Waikiki!
My stay & room was great only problem was when I asked about a microwave the said they rent them out for $10 a day smh I already spent alot of money to stay there
Only stayed here for about 8 hours waiting on my flight but it was nice and had a great time in their newly opened restaurant.
Nice room, hallway smells bad. Good location
Great hotel, excellent service and accommodations. Close to the beach. Nice amenities. Clean and super omgoodness comfortable beds and pillows! Great location close to nightlife.
Beautiful views and a comfortable room for my family while staying in Honolulu.
Nice updated rooms, great staff, and breakfast from elite members. Highly recommend.
Very friendly staff and the room was comfortable. They offer beach chairs and towels and the hotel is in a great location.
We are staying in the ocean front at the hotel and view wise its perfect. The closet is a little small but the room is nice. Originally I booked a premium ocean view and the view isnt from the room just the balcony so be aware when youre booking that there isnt a view from the room on that one. Overall so far great stay!
No pool. The elevators take forever mainly due social distancing protocol which fully understandable. Not sure why theyre charging a $37 per day resort fee. Older hotel so you hear all noises from the rooms around you. Staff is all nice and cordial.. to their defense they just opened about 3 weeks ago and working out the details.
Aloha!Where to start?? Check in was a breeze. Hotels.com app didn’t relay that I requested a king bed on my stay so the check-in associate provided and upgraded room for the one night of my inconvenience, comped the resort fee AND sent a bottle of Champaign to our room. The next day we moved to a king bed for the rest of the stay. Perfect location. Diamond head in plane view and views of Waikiki beach. Room was clean, EXTREMELY updated. All the amenities you could imagine. Lai making, hula classes and the gym was fully stocked. Pool was pretty (read previous reviews mentioning one pool being closed but I forgot about it) we only went to the pool to be nosey we didn’t use it lol I mean, who goes to the pool when you are in HAWAII?! Location was great, shops were closed in the hotel but there were plenty steps away on the strip! Overall… we will be coming back…. AND staying here.
Room was nice and it was quite. Would give 5 stars but not sure if its because of covid or if this is normal. Staff are hard to find and if you see them they are more like mask police . I found myself trying to avoid hotel staff as i might be doing something wrong. I will look for a more friendly place when i come back.wrong. rand re
We stayed 3 nights, it is an excellent Waikiki location. The staff was friendly, the room modern and clean. They have 2 ABC stores that are close to each tower and a little shopping area which is expensive but hey its Waikiki you know what youre getting into. We enjoyed the proximity to the Waikiki strip and the beach is across the street. Valet was quick and prompt. Be mindful of the one way street when you exit!
Very mediocre. I’m a huge Marriott fan and this should be a category 3 not a category 6.
Very friendly staff and clean rooms! Right across from the beach and the resturants here are amazing, a little pricey but worth it!
Thank you Michelle N. from front desk for helping me getting everything ready and set for my parents coming out to Hawaii.. You are AWESOME! May be blessed and if your GM or FDM is reading this you need to give her a raise. happy holidays
Great location, right across from the beach. In the center of everything.
Solid place to stay. Great views, convenient location all the amenities. Not the fanciest of the Waikiki beach hotels but it does well.
Wonderful staff and very pleasant atmosphere. Beautiful scenery!
Im a Marriott girl through and and this Marriott stay was absolutely delightful as well. Great service and accommodation, beautiful rooms and the views are absolutely fantastic!
Excellent customer service, especially Keri and the Bell Desk crew!
Close to everything great location super clean very nice people
Stay elsewhere. Checking in takes about an hour and their rooms are not well kept or appropriately advertised. Go stay across the street at the Aston Waikiki.
Ive never been to a Marriott that didnt have a lounge and a nic restaurant. But it was okay in a pinch.
Great hotel, great views and great people.
Great place to stay I would stay here anytime
Great place to stay.
