Let me start off by saying the hotel business needs more people like Josh. We almost checked out 4 days early, but after Josh was able to accommodate our request, we decided to stay the rest of the reservation. Not only was he able to accommodate, and even through the face mask, I could tell he sincerely cared about our well-being. Thank you so much, I know this might get swept under the rug, because this place is already well reviewed and highly rated, but thank you moana surfer, Westin for being what you are, and having Josh as the first impression of your business, and for going above and beyond to make our stay memorable.

Beautiful setting with live music and tropical drinks! You cant ask for more. Recommend the blended mango and mint with an extra shot of coconut rum. Awesome!

The 1st hotel on Oahu full of history and so beautiful. Staff are friendly and professional. We didnt upgrade our room so it was small but we didnt plan on living in it so it didnt bother us. Free beach towels and 1 complimentary Dole Whip from the snack bar. Spectacular view of the beach and ocean while sitting on the veranda or sitting in a rocking chair shaded under the breathtaking banyan tree in the courtyard. Highly recommend staying here if you can afford it.

Wonderful location and exceptional service from the staff. Room definitely is small for the price point. Few things in the bathroom needed attention from the maintenance which very slightly dampened our stay there. The view outside our window overlooking the beach was so beautiful and the easy access to the beach was definite cherry on top.

The lobby and rooms were so comfortable. We stayed 2 weeks and had booked 2 rooms side by side. Easy access to everything, we booked activities that were all on time. The flowers and grounds were taken such great care of. Some nights we enjoyed live music under the banyan tree. The beach was clean everyday . We will stay there again on our next trip.

Wonderful atmosphere! Gorgeous courtyard. Amazing food. Excellent service. Bed linens extremely soft. Only down side was their DAILY resort fee of $42 that many customers did not know about! This fee is in addition to room fee and taxes.

A wonderful experience in Hawaii. The amenities, beach bar, access to the beach, fitness center, and location are perfect. The overall feel of the place is like a hotel you see in movies. It is pricey for the average person but well worth it in my opinion because come on, you are on vacation.

We dined at the Beach House Restaurant one evening. The food was very good and the service was excellent as well. Beautiful scenery from anywhere in that particular restaurant of the ocean. It wasnt cheap as it was a price fix menu but there was still some choice as to which appetizer and which entree you wanted. The quality was reflected in the price at least. Great place for dinner if you have a reason to celebrate something as well!

This is such a beautiful hotel! My camera does not do it justice! If I could redo my vacation, I would have chosen to stay here. The location was perfect for easy walking to all the best shopping. The swimming on that end of the beach was nice because there werent rocks to scrape my legs on in shallow water like I did on the other end. The valet was easy to find, and theres a lot of great coffee/cocktail options within the vicinity. Although this end of the beach is more populated, it is very much for good reason!

As an Ambassador Elite I am very impressed by this property. The hotel is very nice but most of all the staff is super friendly and helpful. I have to specifically call out Cindy at the front desk as being one of the best hotel front desk agent Ive ever dealt with. I cant express how helpful and friendly she is and made my family feel very welcomed. The rooms are nice and the housekeeping was very thorough.All in all very awesome and thanks again Cindy!

Beautiful hotel and surroundings. The room is very clean but a little small. The view of the ocean is awesome. Check-in went smoothly with very little wait. Clerk was very helpful explaining everything and getting us settled.

This hotel was beautiful. We were first given a room that faced the roof of the wing next to it. My husband called to request a beach-side view and they had one for us the next day. It was fabulous.The maid service was wonderful and very helpful. A fabulous view of the water with a pool too. This hotel was wonderful.

Homeless dirty people have taken over so much of the nice beach areas - staggering.Unable to get access to workout room which was dissatisfying to several guests.Service is below average.Rooms so small even the beach front ones.

I will not hesitate to stay here again. The view is everything. The Waikiki beach is just steps away from the hotel. Shopping and restaurants are just steps away. You dont need to go anywhere to enjoy a vacation. Just have a lot of money. This place is not cheap.

Above and beyond my expectations!! Just arrived back from a 10 day trip to Hawaii, which began with an incredible 3 night stay at Moana. I took my 2 college-age kids with me for a long overdue vacation. I cannot go into the specifics of what this great hotel provided, but we received deluxe treatment at every point in our stay from the check-in, to the drinks under the century-old banyan tree, to the morning seaside ritual at dawn. First class experience! My only regret is we didnt stay longer. It is easy to see why many come to Moana to enjoy its amenities and charm rather than touring Oahu..very tempting! The hotel is beautiful and has a lot of history that was so interesting to read about. Frank was so AWESOME!! He was always friendly, personable, and willing to help us out with transportation or recommendations for site seeing and restaurants. Valets are great to get you started. Front desk can be a bit annoying through no fault of their own, COVID restrictions. Bell hop was good. Room is decent enough except for the air conditioning is via a heat pump. The beach bar is wonderful, impeccable service, food, drinks and the view.

My family and I loved this resort! Customer service is an A++! I had an issue with my bill and toilet and it taken care of within 10mins. Frank, the bell hop, was AWESOME! He took care of all of our travel needs around the island and had great recommendations on where to go and what to eat!

This hotel was really fancy inside and right on the beach! They also had Dukes Restaurant right next door so that gave you enough time to go swimming, make reservations, clean up, then eat. The staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful with questions. The hotel also has seating outside for lunch and dinner. The seating for the lunch is first come first serve (seat yourself) and dinner is for reservations. Food was fairly good, great vibes, and clean hotel. I would come back again!

Its just gorgeous. From outside to inside. Got attracted to walk in while shopping at Kalakaua Ave. Went in for a drink but called my family to join me for late evening dinner. Live music was there at the Beach bar and grill and it was family friendly as well.

If you are looking for a relaxing beach resort with a chair/lounger/cabana to sit in, don’t come here. So crowded, so many kids, and guest to chair ratio was like 50:1. Rooms were really okay (and the room we got was supposedly an upgrade). We got here after 5 days in Maui and were supposed to be here for 2 nights and decided to move our flight up by a day to leave first thing in the morning, couldn’t get out of here fast enough.Highly recommend to go to Maui instead.

If your going to Hawaii stay here! I am a lifetime Marriott guy and this place is on if the best places Ive ever stayed. Historic, great location and on the beach, great breakfast and staff were awesome.

The Moana Surfrider was amazing! We stayed in the historical part of the building, The rooms were outstanding! The food was amazing and there was live music every evening! The service was excellent and the building was just beautiful. They had so many fun activities! Staying at the Surfrider really made our trip even better!

We stayed at the Moana Surfrider hotel for our honeymoon at the end of June. Although the staff was kind and place was gorgeous we were very disappointed with how we were treated as a honeymoon couple. Our travel agent booked for us and made sure to note we were honeymoon couple along with having an ocean view room. When we got to our room our window only displayed empty buckets and scaffolding from renovations being done. We understand many people are staying at the hotel celebrating all different things but the cost you pay to stay at this hotel they should take more time to make personable touches to guests stay. Wasn’t a good walk in for the start of our honeymoon.

Beautiful hotel! Very modern and clean hotel. Rooms were great. Balconies right over the beach. Small pool area, but great beach and dining options. Complementary breakfast option for bonvoy members is very good. On street with tons of dining and shopping options. Parking is half a block from hotel but easy enough to get to. Close to other good beaches and hiking. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Cindy at the front desk at check in was very helpful.

This place is beautiful and well kept. The staff are friendly and helpful. We stayed here for 9 days and many of those days were spent on the beach that is seconds away from the lobby or by the pool. Our balcony overlooked the banyan tree that this place is famous for.... the whole thing is a dream. Will never forget our trip to Hawaii and our stay here

The location is the BEST. Your right on the water and all the shops and restaurants are in walking distance. The down side in my experience was that the walls are paper thin and when people walk by your room late at night they are not quiet in the hallways and they love slamming their doors. Unfortunately you can hear everything that is being said and done outside your door.

We loved this hotel! It is just as beautiful from the back as it is from the front! The staff was very friendly & went out of their way to help us!We enjoyed the location because you don’t need a car & can walk to a variety of shops & restaurants! Our favorite restaurant was the one at the hotel! The food was delicious, the live music & view of the ocean made for a relaxing evening!The chairs with umbrellas on the beach can be reserved. The staff will go out & prepare your chair with towels & serve food/drinks until 5pm!The beach bar is a nice shady spot to take a break from the sun & grab a cold cocktail or food. We also enjoyed having a cocktail in the rocking chairs overlooking the restaurant & ocean!Our room was extremely clean & we liked that the staff freshened our rooms each day while we were out! My favorite thing about the room was the balcony overlooking the ocean & the heated toilet seat! Sounds crazy but it was fantastic!

We had a ocean view room in the historic portion of the resort. The rooms were historic for sure but still beautiful and comfy. Since it is older you can hear the ocean all night long but the tourists as well. Overall 10/10 would recommend. Obligated to point out I work for Marriott, but this doesn’t effect my review.

Very Impressed with all of the staffs at Moana Surfrider, especially in the bar/restaurant staffs! This is a BUSY resort, but the staffs were still able to greet and accommodate to all the guests! Also, the turquoise beach was stunning and always kept clean. Would love to stay here again :)

Beautiful and historic open air hotel. We stayed for 9 nights and had a great time. The deluxe banyan room was big enough for our family of 4. The food was great but a bit expensive, no surprise. The only negative was that the noise from the street outside our room was really loud until about 10pm. We didnt have trouble sleeping but I could see that being a big issue for others.

Staff was very nice and helpful! Food was pretty good but pretty pricey as expected. ROOMS NEED RENOVATION. Carpets were old, ripped, and uneven. Bathrooms had tubs from maybe 10 or 15 years ago. If you care about the time you actually spend inside your room, this place is pretty over priced and you might want to look for something nicer. If you don’t care about a beachfront window/view, and you are willing to face the street, or walk a block to the beach, you can probably get something better. At this place you are clearly paying for the short walk to the beach, not the view from the window, because once you see the room, you won’t want to say in your room.

We stayed here in one of the original Banyan ocean view rooms. We had a great time, lots of history in this hotel.We will stay here next time we come back.Big thank you to Michael, Juria and the entire staff here(valet guys turned us onto a couple of local restaurants). We will be referring all of our family, friends and travel clients to stay here.

Unique times we live in. Summer 2021. Remember to ask for things/services. Anything. All they can do is say no. Shaving kit, yes. Extra towels, yes. Room clean, yes. (That express button on your room phone). Hire a driver to give a custom tour, yes. If we dont ask, we dont get. Sad to hear covid rules means 10 minutes max on Arizona memorial. Ok then, next time. Im not going to be rushed to pay my respects.

Location, Location, Location. Great hotel right on Waikiki Beach, excellent views and the food is good. The staff was very helpful. Rooms are a little dated but it is a historic property and everything else makes up for it.

Positive: This hotel cant be beat for location, beach access, and character. Staff was really helpful, nice food. Breakfast on the veranda was a highlight, as well as the ocean-front balcony.

Came here for breakfast with the family. Perhaps the best way to describe is, Wao. People were super friendly and accommodating. The eggs Benedict were just perfect, had to eat 3 of them. Fruits, scrambled eggs, bacon and Polynesian sauces were also available on the all you can eat served buffet style. We were lucky enough to catch an ocean view table and the morning ocean breeze help the experience to be unique. Plan ahead and try to get reservations early, as soon as you book your flight, you should start getting reservations. Just a simple suggestion that worked for us very well due to local CVD19 restrictions.

As a wedding planner from the mainland I was blown away by the level of service we received. From the minute I walked through the door we were greeted by Frank at the front drive. Very friendly and helpful. Little did we know when we went inside we would be interacting with the GM of the hotel Michael. Talk about the feels of the Aloha spirit. Stuart, the director was so helpful in every way shape and form. Cant wait to do more weddings here because even for a micro event, everything was amazing! Thank you for the hospitality! Highly recommended! We cant wait to do more weddings here!

Excellent hotel. We had a balcony room overlooking Waikiki Beach and it was beautiful. Great service from towels to the pool, beach, and housekeeping. The toilet had a heated seat + built in bidet and air dryer. Very nice.

We stayed here 5 nights during our honeymoon and absolutely loved it. Great location, easy (but very expensive) self-parking, and an absolute historical gem on Waikiki. It was definitely worth getting a deluxe oceanview room; the view was breathtaking at all times of the day (and we did have two balconies). Our only very minor negative was that the COVID restrictions made it a little tricky to get an elevator down, so we needed to budget a little extra time. We loved the classic charm and character this hotel had while still having all the modern conveniences you would expect. I would absolutely stay here again.

Fabulous trip to the Moana, have been coming here for years and was wondering how covid impacted their operations. The staff is back, especially the pool staff Lee and Isaac! If you haven’t had a chance to meet Lee stop by the towel desk - he makes the trip memorable for my kids and keeps us coming back.

Good location but overpriced for service and experience. Ordered signature cocktail in a souvenir take-home glass but received in a regular plastic cup. Waitress later(!) explained they only had the plastic cups.

Had an absolutely lovely time; great customer service for my weeklong stay in an unbeatable location. Beautiful Banyan tree out back, and great beach access. Streetside, there is access to anything you could need within a .5 mi radius. The Beach Bar is a little pricey, but thats to be expected beach side in Waikiki. First picture is of the front of the historic hotel and the second are the gorgeous views from either side of my balcony. We stayed in the tower wing.. everything was clean and service was consistently beyond our expectations. Overall, Im very pleased with our stay. I even dropped an earring down my sink drain right before trying to check out (shame on me) and they sent someone to get it for me in less than 15 minutes. So thankful!

Absolutely beautiful ocean front. The staff has went above and beyond in all the extras we have asked for. For being located in the middle of busy Waikiki, its very peaceful. Dont miss out on breakfast overlooking the water.

Was a great experience on my anniversary. We swam with turtles and got massages. I even got to surf a bit, this was a really great service hotel with great staff and beautiful views of the ocean from the 20th floor. You also have access to downtown Honolulu right there and right across the street the is Excellent street life with magicians and vendors. Over all it was a great stay and I highly recommend this resort

If youre affiliated with the military and seeking for great family experience in downtown Waikiki as a getaway, then I recommend this resort for you. Prices are reasonably for Military personnel. Its even better when you have a family.

When I brought up the below concerns I was told this by employee everyone is drunk in Waikiki, you shouldnt stay here if you dont want that.Currently here for my honeymoon and regretting my choices. Severely disappointed with management and parking services. Rented an exotic car for my stay and not only does the hotel not have their own parking lot the parking garage they do partner with fills up on the weekends forcing you to park in a further parking garage full of drunk partiers and then you have to walk a mile back to the resort. Ill update this when my stay is complete but so far I wish Id just stayed at an airbnb because the amenities of a resort just dont exist at Mona.

Beautiful hotel in the middle of the activity in Waikiki. We didnt rent a car for the 6 days we were there, but we could walk to food, stores, and everywhere the shuttles stopped to get to vacation activities. Very clean and with an amazing housekeeping staff that will leave your room feeling spotless! Front desk staff is mix with knowledgeable kind staff and others not knowing what they are doing with a temper. The beach is beautiful but gets absolutely packed Thursday through Sunday. Pool has no lounge chairs as most visitors come to just lay on them, but it at least leaves the small pool open to go for a swim. Dont recommend food at the restaurant since its quite expensive and lacks flavor.

This spacious hotel and resort has a 5 star rating, located on the beach and offers excellent accommodations to the visitor. The day is packed with different activities, and all visitors are welcome. When its hot take a dip in the sparkling pool, or order up some food from the Veranda beachcomber.

In the sea of Waikiki’s diminishing customer service, the Moana stands out. I have taken refuge at this hotel many times whilst in Oahu and I am always surprised at how gracious the staff are. The ambiance is tranquil; The rooms are spacious; and the mood is always Aloha, which is no small task considering the hustle and bustle of downtown. Thank you!!!

I have to start by saying our trip to Hawaii was almost a lost cause due to the covid restrictions, but we got through our troubles and were welcomed with open arms to this Wonderful place! JOSH went above and beyond for us, making sure we were very accommodated and comfortable! When we return to Hawaii we will absolutely be going back to Moana Surfrider just because of JOSHS hospitality. I cannot say enough about how great he is and how impressed we are! Much kudos to JOSH and the team he works with!

All staff was helpful, Waikiki beach is at your feet and amenities are perfect. They have left the charm of the original hotel shine thru and it feels more like a boutique hotel than a resort.

Dirty Dirty Dirty! Not as clean as it should be for the amount of money you pay to stay there. Not as clean as it should be during COVID-19. Looked behind the sofa there was a dirty sheet there from the past guests, bathroom toilet base was filthy and twice I was exposed to Covid by 2 dirty glasses with someone elses lipstick on it from their restaurant. Be careful and pay attention to the little things!

The hotel is very nice, extremely nice customer service. Good amenities, clean rooms. Highly recommend.

Oldest Hotel on the Waikiki Beach Hotel Strip, with elegance of a large banyan tree in its court yard. Beach front property in your back yard and all of the amenities of a resort vacation with out the tourist crowd competing for your state of mind and relaxation during a Covid 19 pandemic restrictions. Worth the extra effort to travel here.

Positive: Nice pool for kids. Negative: For the amount of $$ we paid for this hotel, I was super disappointed. Rooms were tiny( We couldn¿t even open the shutters in our room without having to move a side table) and seemed like it needed updating. Staff was not particularly friendly.

For a resort hotel you think you wouldnt have to self park and still be charged a daily fee to park your own car. Breakfast at the hotel was limited and not worth the price. The hotel staff are very friendly. The beach right next to the hotel is clean and spacious. Some of the hotel guest refused to wear masks if an attendant was not near by. The rooms were very modern and clean.

What an expensive waste of time. The good first - Historical Hotel and looks grand. The vibe is really great. The view is nice as well.So 2 star for ambiance and vibeNow, I went here to eat food with my family. The food quality for abysmal. None of the items has any flavor. everything tasted like it was boiled, glazed and served. Kids hotdog and chicken were over cooked. There were no choices as it was a pre fixed menu.We all skipped lunch and went with a big appetite but we ended up wasting most of the food which we all felt really bad about. I wish we knew this earlier and ordered much less.

Had an absolutely wonderful stay. Everyone is so nice. Our waiter Jerry at the beachhouse for breakfast was sooo sweet!!! Drinks at the beach bar was fun and listening to the singers! Great way to end the night. Cant wait to come back!

Beautiful inside and out! Close to everything. The beach is almost at the doorstep. Love the rocking chairs nicely dispersed around the building to relax in, the outdoor bar area, despite the somewhat pricey drinks, the staff are friendly and the drinks were pretty good. The sunset view was amazing! Love the view from the room!!

Great location and atmosphere. The piña colada’s were really good. They were pricey, but the bartender was very nice and topped ours off after making too much for someone else. The banyan tree was beautiful and the bar overlooks the beach. It is absolute beautiful. Too bad you can’t bring your drink on the beach.

Didnt get the room we paid for, theres no room service. After complaining, theyre moving us to another room with hopefully better view but a day after our 1st night here. Not worth what was paid to stay here, out the window, room is old, took hours for the AC to cool down the 210 sq ft room. Fridge doesnt work, phone to downstairs is on the fritz.Outside the food was ok, beach and patio area is BEAUTIFUL.Book here for overpriced meh view that you can walk from neighboring hotels to eat.

Great staff. Everyone onsite was welcoming and accomodating. We are transitioning out of terrible times. Lets be patient and understanding. its our time to just be kind to one another. Thank you Moana Surfrider for a great time and doing the best you can as we get back to normal!
