We recently stayed at the Sea Pines Resort for a friends wedding and it was a great weekend! The bakery & cafe in Harbour Town was delicious for a quick breakfast and lunch, and we enjoyed dinner at The Crazy Crab. The wedding was stunning and the food was great. We thoroughly enjoyed it and hope to be back again one day!
We just got home from a long weekend in HHI staying in Sea Pines to be specific 9 Green Heron. This was our second time staying at this house. First time was great this time It was horrible. Fridge ice maker. Water dispenser didn’t work. Lights in the laundry room didn’t work. We didn’t think the pool pump worked pool always looked like it had a film over the water. So we didn’t really use the pool. Bed pillows were nothing but air. The weather was great and we love sea pines but won’t be staying in this residence again. They did bring ice and pillows when called. But when you pay $4800. for 4 days you kinda expect everything to work. Especially when it’s listed as a Premier property.
We only wanted to see the lighthouse, but the gatehouse attendant informs us this is PRIVATE PROPERTY and we must pay for access to even have access to see the lighthouse or spend money at the local restaurants/gift shops. One we got to Harbour Town the appearance was nice. Parking was difficult to find (busy weekend), and a few extra signs for public parking would have been very helpful. That said .... there are a multitude of sings saying where NOT to park. One we got to the area, it was picturesque and the small fleet of boats in the harbour was quaint. Then all the tourist barkers from the ticket booths began their spiel. Harbour cruises, dolphin cruises, pirate cruises, and many were already completely booked for the day, so that did not turn out as expected. The local shops had the typical tourist embroidered clothing, showing the Islands name, which was expected. The food seemed a bit expensive, and the general store was packed with so much clothing, one might feel claustrophobic trying to move around. The lighthouse and the ruins were of interest to me, and even the light-house was monetized for access. At least the old tabby ruins did not have a separate entry fee. It seemed more like a country-club atmosphere, and the redundant signage for every golf choice only reinforced that feeling. The hose riding seemed like an interesting option, but I only discovered that by accident. Thus, the focus for this resort seems to cater to the country club-types, not the general middle-class Americans.
Everything is spectacular at Sea Pines Resort, especially the staff. This review is for Bernard who is a Beach Parking Attendant. While visiting the beach on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, Bernard helped us with a ride when we were in need. My husband was overwhelmed with heat and Bernard stepped in immediately to assist. He was very polite, professional, and is a valuable member of your staff. He spoke highly of the resort and his coworkers. I spent 10 years in the Savannah, GA hospitality industry and I would definitely hire Bernard!
Our family has been here for about a week and we’ve had a blast going to the pool, visiting the harbor and biking to the beach. Greg Russell is always a must see at night, and it’s easy to get around whether you’re walking, biking or driving. I do wish they reversed the “drivers have the right away” rule as it can make for some dangerous bike path street crossings. This is the busiest we’ve ever seen Hilton Head, hopefully it calms down as the pandemic cools off!
We went on a family fishing trip on the Echo with 6 adults. The captain was great and we were so impressed with the mate that did so much work. Austin was friendly and made the trip really enjoyable even in the slow times. There was plenty of covered area on the boat so there was plenty of shade. We learned a lot, enjoyed the ride, and caught enough fish for dinner.
We went fishing this morning with Capt Greg and Izzy Fishing Charters in Sea Pines. Our boys (17, 17 & 12) had a great time and caught 7 sharks (all released). It was a trip they will always remember. Totally recommend.
Captain Steve and Nick did a great job in spite of the weather. They did everything they could to give us a fun experience on the water. Definitely recommend the Black Skimmer.
The lighthouse area was great, the Salty Dog area was just okay and the shops at sea pines were not worth stopping at unless you need a quick bite, gas or toilets. $9 toll to get into this area sets the bar high but not much exceeds that bar. Seems like they need the toll to keep the crowds from overrunning the residential area.
Ben and Nick were awesome, even though the fish werent biting, we still had an excellent time. I would highly recommend the black skimmer and hope to be back next summer for a longer trip.
We were not in the resort but a rental property. The Sea Pines property is very nice and has just about anything you want within their property. Would love to teturn.
My family rented a cottage through the Sea Pines resort last week only to be cancelled two days before our stay. They told us a tree had fallen and they were at maximum capacity for the week and no other accommodations could be made. When I asked what they could do for us they offer $100 credit to a future stay and thats it. I find this cancellation to be egregious and the service to be pitiful. My family and I will be staying elsewhere in the future.
We love Sea Pines. We have stayed in Sea Pines twice now, once by renting from a private owner and this last time by renting from Sea Pines Resort. I liked renting from the resort because arrival/departure dates are very flexible and there arent any surprise fees. Also, I love the amenities available at no extra cost -- the fitness center, Sea Pines Beach Club, the bike trails, etc. Sea Pines is my favorite vacation.
I didnt actually stay here. But the seapines plantation owners make it quite difficult for anyone not staying there to enjoy the island. If you try to see anything thats on the plantation riding a bike they will not let you in. You can only enter by car and then you have to pay 9 dollars. They have made it difficult for us to enjoy our Hilton Head vacation.
Loved, loved, loved this place. What a beautiful and relaxing place to visit and the food was amazing. Everyone we met were great. I recommend visiting 😊.
A scenic escape from your typical billboard littered beach towns. Sea pines has worked hard to maintain the natural beauty of this place! Trees and plants abound. We loved utilizing all the bike trails. A great place for exploration
The area is nice and pleasant, but the $9 fee per car to just enter is silly. Especially when you get to Harbour Town to find parking a nightmare. Its a small fee, but I think any charge is ridiculous.
Sea Pines has been a great place to vacation. But their new parking policy at the beach club caters to homeowners and resort guest only. If you rent from a homeowner or a property mgmt co, the resort does not really care about you. Limits parking to 50 spots out of 175ish. Those are gone by 8a. After 20 years of frequenting Sea Pines, we will go elsewhere. Very sad.
We went to harbor town and stopped by the shops and other restaurants but the lowco taco truck was by far the best part of the trip. I decided to head over and try a taco towards the end of my trip and ordered the famous paco taco. Now this was no ordinary taco, it was a beautiful blend of fresh ingredients with the outside of the taco shell being made of fried chicken. The service was incredible and once I got my taco in under two minutes I could immediately smell the combination of the chicken and the taco. I took the first bite and my life changed forever. It was the greatest thing I have ever put into my mouth. After two bites it felt like I was levitating. This taco was so good it should have been illegal. The taco juices busted in my mouth and before I knew it, the taco was gone. I could not recommend this place any more. If you have not been here yet, your life is not complete. 100/10
We stayed at the Sea Pines Resort during the Heritage Tournament. The Inn was nothing short of amazing. Opening the curtain of our room each morning to watch the golfers off the 1st Tee of Harbour Town was surreal. Hotel staff was very accommodating. Despite the big tournament right in their backyard with PGA players staying there, we were treated like royalty. We decided to stay in the Sea Pines section during the tourney because traffic can be an issue so we ate at the restaurants there. The Inn provides transportation pretty much throughout Sea Pines and Harbour Town. Check out CQs for dinner which is walking distance from the Inn. I played golf at The Plantation Club and took lessons from Skip Malak. He was absolutely amazing on so many levels and with 8 hours of instruction over the course of 2 days I can honestly say that he improved my game. He even sent me instructional videos of my swing when I returned home. Icing on the cake is the Beach Club which is walking distance from the golf course. Great food right on the beach. Right before we left for the airport we took an Alligator tour in the Sea Pines preserve, they set it up for us at The Inn.All in all it was an amazing trip, we will definitely return, probably with our 3 kids.
The best place to vacation ever. Nice condos, good restaurants and shops, a great area over all.
An iconic must do when visiting HHI
Not handicapped friendly at all. Im barely able to walk and rely on my ebike on vacation. Lots of trails but they only accommodate the healthy and able-bodied. No ebikes even though I probably ride slower on mine than most normal people on traditional bikes
Greetings at the door, quick check-in. We are veterans of Sea Pines but this was the fastest and smoothest ever.
Great family resort. Great for biking, tennis, golf, beach. Plenty dinning options
Outstanding place! Outstanding service! Highly recommended.
Very fun place to go. Many things to do.
Very good service, and a lot of attention, This is a place that we will coming back for vacation, marvelous!
I love Sea Pines. So much to see and do. This trip I just spent time at my brothers house
We had our wedding at Sea Pines Resort, at the Liberty Oak. It was absolute perfection. It was gorgeous, even more beautiful than I was expecting and more beautiful than the pictures I’d seen.Aside from that, the staff was impeccable. Our Sea Pines wedding planner was Tracey Mancini and I can not say enough wonderful things about her. She was so kind, professional, and really on top of everything! And then we had our dinner at the clubhouse. It was delicious! And the staff had everything covered. No one had to wait a minute for anything they wanted. We truly couldn’t be happier. They made our wedding day perfect, and we would highly recommend Sea Pines for anyone’s wedding day!(They also made planning an intimate wedding so easy with their wedding packages. All the important stuff is included. Love it!)
The food is poor quality and service is mediocre. If you want to be disappointed, this is the place for you. Strongly urge you to avoid the main restaurant. We made a reservation a month ahead, when we arrived we learned that they booked the room for someone else. No call to apologize. This is really sad.
Kliton made it easy to schedule a vaca. Was in a awesome room, watching golfers tee off. As a golfer best golf vaca Ive ever had. Thank you Kliton
Fun place, wish I had more time to spend there.
The welcome center is a mess. They dont post hours, when you call they give you the wrong hours, if you call back you get a different story. Just a poorly run mess.
Such a great place to vacation! Ive been here almost every summer for about 20 years now! Amazing!! Water at the beach is very warm, and the area is beautiful, great to bike around. My family is going to definitely buy a boat and a house down here in a few years once the kids graduate. Such an amazing place, and I definitely have to have a summer house down here.
Nice place to visit. Lighthouse is a must see.
They dont allow pedestrians or bicyclists through the paid gates.
My boys and I chartered the Izzy A captained by Greg for the 3hr shark fishing trip. We had an amazing time and Greg was highly motivated to provide a great time and get us sharks. First hour was slow so he volunteered to stay out after scheduled time as sharks started being more active. Boys cant wait to do this again soon!
1984. Wow. 9 dollars to access a side of an island where people live, and also where restaurants are.
Nice hotel pleasant service staff very accommodating
You dont Want to ask me that. Sorry. Not on this one.
Have come to Hilton Head for Years, and stayed in Sea Pines more recently, with pleasant experiences. Its a big plantation, but doesnt feel crowded. Have stayed with a large group in a BIG house, and also stayed in villas, and each time it has been great! Harbour Town is a must. Beach is more accessible from certain areas than others, but Beach Club is nice, although a bit crowded. Everywhere Ive stayed has been very quiet, with easy access to Bike paths. Great tennis, golf, you name it. Of course, worth a trip to South Beach, with Salty Dog Cafe, etc.The gate and visitor fee keep day traffic down, and nights are really only busy at Harbor Town, but not bad at all.Not far from Shopping and dining outside the gates, and the Cross Island makes it a quick trip to the outlets or golfing off island, as well.
Bans motorcycles. How Un-American can you get?Find a better resort that isn’t full of horrible dull people who hate fun. Why would you want to vacation somewhere like this?
Cash only to purchase a car pass.
We r staying at a private residence. Beautiful place and island. Food is excellent
Great place and wonderful view😍
Great walking paths/bike paths. You can walk to alot of restaurants and shops. Beautiful area
Top notch. Better than Kiawah and Sea Island
The resort is nice. It is well kept. They only get a 1 star because we were not allowed to reschedule our trip until it was safer to travel to South Carolina. Our family was not comfortable coming on this milestone birthday trip since South Carolina is now listed as one of the Covid hotspots. We were in hopes we could reschedule and come at a later date when the virus calms down. That was not an option. If we chose not to come, we would loose our deposit money. During a pandemic, more flexibility should be provided to travelers. This is my opinion.
Feel like we are home each time we arrive. We have been vacationing in Hilton Head for the past 25 years. Why we dont move here is beyond me? We stay on Sea Pines generally where its very quiet very laid-back with lots of walking and bicycle paths. The beach is outstanding and lots of great places to eat very close by. If youre a golfer its a paradise also if youre a tennis player.
I travel to HHI annually with my family, along with my sisters families. 90% of the time we have stayed at Sea Pines. First time going through Sea Pines Resort itself versus a travel agency. Sea Pines changed the benefits, and we found it was more beneficial going through their site directly. Stayed at 36 Willow Oak, everything was fantastic. People were friendly enough, had a weird run in at check in, while in line the greeter in the front wanted to see my email registration to ensure I was at the right place? Maybe because I am a person of color in a sea of caucasians, I dont know. Just a weird question when youre standing in line.
Love this place. Beautiful tree lined streets, lots of amenities and so many activities - golf, tennis bikes, and tons of water activities.
Beautiful lighthouse.
Great vacation spot
Luxurious living with wonderful walking paths
Very nice visiting friends there
Top notch, very relaxing.
Great day, but we had to park in harbortown in order to go to the Beach club. After an awesome day at the beach and a fabulous dinner overlooking the ocean, our entire family is stuck be ready outside Kevin and waiting for a girl that is not coming to take us back to harbortown. Lots of bugs no Shuttle totally screwed
Spectacular views and Crazy Crab is a wonderful restaurant for lunch/dinner!!
Awesome great experience
Beautiful place to stay. Peaceful and quiet.
This place was amazing with all the huge trees! We were there for a 10 day bible study class and the house we were put in was so beautiful! We had to actually look to find a hidden room in the little locked up room outside next to the pool. It was a bit of a quirky room but, it worked for us all. The check in building couldve been better manicured for this type of resort. It is literally a hidden away place. We had to use GPS everywhere we went. Im directionally challenged so I didnt even go to the beach, I was nervous Id get lost. Very nice meeting room, as well.
Beautifully maintained, gated community. There is a charge for simply entering the area but it is per car and is minimal.One-day cruises can be found at different areas on Sea Pines... from mini-Marine Biology tours ( Great for the kids and the kid wannabes! ) to romantic Sunset Dining cruises.A great place for a Take-a-break Day away from the beach... especially if there are sunburns that need a little healing time. Lovely restaurants and boutiques. Everything from seashell kitsch to high-end fashion and jewelry...and dont forget to wind down sitting under the trees enjoying hand-dipped ice cream.
Excellent!
Very good
Sea Pines is always so relaxing and beautiful! We love riding bikes on all the paths and the beach is awesome!
Okay, for a gated community.
Our second season staying here. Very relaxing. Everything is top notch and upscale. Has private resort beaches, entertainment, water sports, bike paths, activities for the whole family. The restaurants are great and the atmosphere is fun. Biking around the island is by far the easiest way to get to places. We also suggest trying the kayak tours and the cruise to Savanna.
A lady was eaten by a alligator and there are no safety precautions to keep it from happening again. Watch yourself walking there fr fr.
Our family is experiencing an incredibly enjoyable vacation experience. We love the location near South Beach where the we bike to South Beach for ice cream and for dinner and to Sea Pines Center to work out and dinner at Truffles and to Harbor Town for dinner at Crazy Crab and Greg Russell entertainment. Stayed at the same fantastic house for several years. Thanks go to Julie Moreoti (spelling) at Sea Pines Vacation Rentals for arranging.
Great place for a family vacation. Beach time, bike rides, harbor tours and many more activities to keep you busy. Very well maintained properties throughout the resort.
This is the best place for a family vacation! We enjoyed every minute. Cant wait until next summer💖
A little outdated. Good location. Great place to have bicycles and ride to restaurants and shops near the resort. Staff was very friendly at check-in. This is a large resort and we probably did not try everything that was available.
Its good for smaller families. Watch out for the steps when trying to walk in your umit looking for light switches after arrival. Great balconies. No real handicapped parking. Quiet, which is nice. Very small units. Bring your own pool/beach towels. Just wish it was a bit roomier. It has its good poimts and could use some updating for a better rating.
My family goes here every year and we have the time of out lives we bring our bikes. Its has given me memories to last a life time. From south beach and the salty dog cafe to the horse ranch to harbor town and the shops. Harbor town is amazing the light house is amazing and the history is so cool. The golf course is beautiful and the ruins are so cool. Would recommend to any one who wants to have a good time from any budget.
The area is full of HOAs run by very old and pretentious people. They ruin any chance of anyone having any sort of real fun child or no child. I have been in several homes for service issues and all the people here are ancient, and possess little to no appreciation for young people. They complain constantly about their neighbors whom which they are constantly spying on. Everything is overpriced and surrounded by traffic that will leave you stupefied. Beaches are very ugly with murky to muddy looking water and brown sand. This is because the shoreline is constantly washing away and they have to use this massive dredges to suck sand offshore and distribute it back on the beach. That is why you see the large pipe laid out during different parts of the year. There are much better areas with much better people to spend your time and money on.
Its hard to rate the resort as there are many large Hotel complexes encompassed in Sea Pines Resort. I was at the Marriott and thoroughly enjoyed the amenities. Location was great, short drive to pretty much anywhere you wanted to see. Was my first time to Hilton Head so everything was new to me. Loved it!
Absolutely love it here! This is my second trip here this year, and will definitely be coming back again! The golf courses are absolutely spectacular! The beach here is beautiful. Wonderfully soft sand, and the water this September has been super warm. The villa we rented was beautiful, well equipped and clean.
Relax have a drink or Two eat really good food
I stayed with in Sea Pines at a villa associated with the Sea Pines Resort. The check in process was easy and brief. I used the tennis court at the racquet club twice, and they were in great shape and well kept. The process of reserving the courts was easy and straightforward. The whole sea pines area of the island is impeccably well-kept, and our villa was clean upon arrival with all the necessary amenities in place.
Friendly staff but they charge you at gate 9.00 a day not that much to do if you are family oriented
Perfect location. Beach is smooth and expansive enough you dont feel crowded. The ocean forms a shallow channel when the tide is out and its shallow enough you dont worry about sudden drop off. Nearby beach club restaurant is nice but pricey with an open bar perfect for watching sports and taking in ocean view.
The idea that anyone would want to pay $8.00 for the privilege of driving in here boggles my mind and the fact that we had to pay it to attend dinner at our friends residence blew me away. Dont show up at the gate without cash or youll be sent away. Better yet, just skip it.
Place sucked. The only way in was to pay a $10 fee each time even if you are going to a place not owned by Sea Pines such as The Stony Baynard Ruins.
I lived in Sea Pines 20 years ago. Still the best plantation on the island. Great restaurants, activities and beaches. Also active duty military get free visitors pass with ID.
Old and out off date.
I LOVE THE RESORT AND THE STAFF IS FANTASTIC. THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS
Not sure what everyone else sees in this resort, but I found it to be dirty and tired. We had a stinky room and cockroaches running around our staircases. The food around the area is mediocre at best, although One Hot Mamas was awesome BBQ. Don’t get me started on the pricing in the area!! Total tourist trap at its best. Will no be returning to this dump.
Very convenient to both the beach and other parts of the island. We mostly walked/biked around the paths to get places, it was nice to not need to start the car. Beautiful trees provided lots of shade, and the beach house/lounge and stables were fun too. Everyone was very nice and explained everything we needed.
