After almost two years and being happy with our service my husband accidentally cut the wire from the satellite to the house. He was able to splice it back together and I called requesting a permanent repair. Two days later I came home to a 150 foot wire laying across my yard. Thinking the job was just bigger than initially given time for and a crew would be out to bury the cable, I waited until the following week to call. I was told they do not bury their cables, that was the home owner’s responsibility. I asked why other companies bury theirs and was told they don’t. I know for a fact they do and it only makes sense because they don’t want people messing with their wires, so I asked to speak to a manager. I was transferred to a man who knew nothing of the situation and who told me calling tickets in would be too much for the business so they don’t bury wires. He told me he would have the field supervisor call me. A man named Mike called and said “so what’s the problem, your dog chewed through the wire or something?” I answered with “I’m not understanding the lack of communication in your company.” After speaking with him for a few minutes he assured me he would be up there the next day to “take care of the issue.”Fast forward to the next evening and I get home and the wires have been cut and the satellite dish is gone. I didn’t receive any call telling me this happened although Mike assured me he would keep in contact. When I called Mike to ask where the equipment was he gleefully told me it was in his truck and that is where it would stay. I questioned why since we had no issues with the service. He told me it was not working when he was there and so he took it. Now I’m going to admit I was angry at this point. I was under the impression the signal would be upped and we may still have to bury a wire, instead the entire service was ripped out by the “QA” person. He pointed to the crew (we were on FaceTime) and said “you see these guys, I have the authority to tell them what to put up and take down.” He then told me he was the second in command at the company and that “I shouldn’t have name dropped and maybe I would still have my service.” Mind you, I didn’t name drop. I was asked who my husband was and told them he works for a business in the industry and asked why other businesses bury their drops. When my husband called Mike back he tried to say it was definitely not out of spite that the equipment was taken because of the bad signal, again we had not complained at all about the signal, and that he would bring it back in a day or a week when he could figure out how to fix it.When the office was called and asked if this is how they do business they said absolutely not. When they were told Mike was not allowed back on the property they informed us he was the only one available, and that they would love to come fix it, could we just wait two weeks. They made sure to mention that he definitely didn’t act out of spite. So we asked for a wire to be buried, instead our equipment was ripped out, we were told we shouldn’t have “name dropped,” and that we could wait two weeks to have the same man who gleefully took all ways of communicating with anyone while at home (not to mention taking my ability to call 911 which is a big no no in the industry) to come back and fix it. When we said no, Mike actually called my husband back confused as to why he was not wanted back.It was made clear to us that Mike is the face of this company and his actions go against anything that most would consider professional or decent. We were loyal customers and I told many people that I was happy with your services. You can bet I will now just tell anyone who will listen about Mike.

Never had an issue with this place in the 7 years of having their services. I can honestly say I could count on one hand the times my internet was down in seven years. That is impressive. It is pricey but I feel well worth it. The staff is always friendly.

The Internet service itself is good and I wish I had it sooner. However the customer service has been lackluster from beginning to end, with the sole customer service person being incomprehensibly terse and failing to adequately answer questions. Given a chance to find another ISP, I would switch in a heartbeat due to the experiences Ive had with their customer service.

Converted to HighSpeedLink today and wish we had done it sooner. From the initial phone call, the team at HSL was very courteous, professional and easy to work with. Mike and his install team did an AWESOME job and answered any questions I had. Very happy with the customer service and the speed of the internet! Highly recommend HSL!

Recently switched from satellite and what a world of difference. Now can stream with no delays or buffering on multiple devices and no longer have the annoying latency and weather downtimes of satellite. Speeds are as advertised. Highly recommend if you are in a rural part of Rockingham County. Far better than the available satellite options.

Great service at a very reasonable price. Had some issues with my card not working to make automatic payments, so I stopped by to pay the bill and make the necessary adjustments to resume. They tell me that as long as you can see Massanutten Mountain, they can get you service. So far, so good.

The service is adequate for people living in rural areas. However, the customer service is Comcast level poor. I guess they feel they’re the only game in town, which allows them to be rude and condescending towards customers. The installer is lazy and will try and plant the equipment in the center of your yard and be annoyed if you want it out of the way. They also won’t bury the wire that runs to the house for you. Basically they should be a last resort for internet service. Hope this is helpful.

Ive been using High Speed link for almost 2 years And have always had courteous professional service. Plus never an issue with the internet service. I recently needed tech support for a new printer and had a very professional tech rep help me out. I would recommend this company to anyone needing fast internet service at a reasonable price!

Great service, nice folks who spend a lot of time working with you when you want to get WISP internet. Its not the fastest or cheapest ISP Ive ever had, but its the best available if youre in a rural area.

I have consistently had problems with them. The first was that, after I upgraded to their $60/month package, my internet stayed the same. I had to personally call their tech support, and it turned out that he had accidentally put 1.0 in their system instead of 10.0 which is absolutely ridiculous. Then, they triple billed me for some unexpected reason. Rather than being billed my normal $60/month, I was randomly billed $180/month. Thankfully their secretary (who is quite nice and helpful) resolved it, but that was still very stupid for me to be triple billed. On top of this, despite multiple complains, I still do not have the 10mbps upload speed that I was promised. My internet typically uploads at around 3-4 mbps, which is ridiculous, because I upload my videos in the MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT when nobody else is working. This is EXTREMELY frustrating, as for work I have to upload a lot of videos, so its doubling or tripling the time it should take me to get something done.If there was another service provider in town, I would sign up with them in a heartbeat. This company gets 1/5 stars.

I have had great service with High Speed Link. We live in an area that there are very few options, and HSL gives us fast internet at a reasonable price. I was skeptical at first, and went so far as to get a quote to bring cable internet to my house, but since committing to HSL its been great. I wish I had done it sooner. I have had satellite internet and this, and if your situation is like mine, this is the way to go.

We have had their service for over a year now, and never had any issues with it. I am paying about $70.00 per month, which is high for the speed that I am subscribed for, but since my only other option would be satellite, I chose to pay the little extra. We have a family of 3, and often have 3-4 devices all streaming video at the same time, or 2 people watching movies, while 1 or 2 people are gaming... Never notice a drop in quality, increased buffer times, or disconnects. The real advantage for me is in gaming. For first-person shooters as well as World of Warcraft (which my entire family plays), the latencies are incredible... often under 30ms ping. You wont get that with satellite.Another advantage that Highspeedlink has over satellite is that clouds, rain, and other very common circumstances wont knock out your service. If you have satellite and a butterfly sneezes in Pakistan, there goes your coverage.Youre not going to download HD movies in seconds with it, or even in minutes... but what it DOES do is work as advertised. Now if only more things in this world could say that, we could all die happy.

We have had HSL for about four months now and are very happy with the service. Speeds are as advertised and so much better than our previous satellite internet service. We had one glitch with the service right after it was installed, but tech support was very helpful and the problem was quickly resolved. We are able to stream live TV and do anything else we need to via the Internet without worrying about bandwidth limits which was a huge problem with satellite. Plus the service is very reliable and not affected by weather, as far as we can tell. We live in an area where previously our only choice was satellite or dial-up and we are so pleased to have HSL available to us.

If I could give 0 stars I would. This ISP is the worst one available in Harrisonburg. I consistently get anywhere from 11Mbps to 14 KBPS and it is usually at 14 KBPS on average. I have tried connecting directly to the Ethernet port and I still get terrible speeds. I know it is not my router or the cables I think it is just a really terrible service provider at fault.

Speeds as advertised, great support when something isnt right. Not sure what all these other people are complaining about. If you are using HSL you likely have no other options other than horrible satellite service with severe limitations. If you dont see the value in low latency wireless internet with no data usage restrictions then you might just be happy with dial up! Thank you HSL for enabling us geeks who live in rural areas to still maintain a reasonable grasp on the internet connected world!

Talking to a person is difficult, my experience has been (for 3 years) I have to call leave a message and wait for someone to call me back... I just dont have time for that type of customer service... The internet runs much slower than the speed you pay for (you pay by speed). The positive is you can use the internet as much as you want, but it is pretty slow (I paid for the midgrade speed, $50 a month). But, when you live away from the city it really is the best option we found. Just have low expectations.

The router they gave me had its firmware fingered in a way that gave them remote admin access and severely restricted my own. I had to find this out myself, after exhausting all other possibilities by going through RouterOSs rather sad documentation for days. I contacted support to confront them about the issue and after a few emails I was reluctantly given full admin access which I used to remove theirs. If that doesnt work for you look into force installing OpenWRT on the router, a normal factory reset will not work as they have fingered the recovery as well. That said, its not a bad service overall. The price is reasonable, ~$50 for 5Mbps down, 1Mbps up, ~20 ping is what I have. Speeds are quite close to advertised however online gaming and HD streaming at peak hours is a real chore. Theres more downtime than Id like to see, but its usually very short and very early in the morning.

My family and I live in northern Keezletown, where both DSL and cable are not an option. Ive had few service problems with HSL, and when we have, its ALWAYS been resolved in an expedient manner. This service is suitable for streaming video, gaming, using SKYPE, just about anything youd want it to do.Its not even fair to complain about pricing because we choose to live where we do for quality of life reasons, and for usable internet access HSL is the only reasonable option. Call them up and get the service...youll like enjoy the same, fine quality we do.

I have had a bad experience dealing with HighSpeedLink, and I did not even purchase their service. They are very hard to get a hold of, and you have to leave a message because no one ever answers their phones. Seeing that you have to leave a message, they choose to not call you back if they dont want to talk with you. Mike came out to the house and verified that I could not get service, but said to hold off a few days and he would see about setting up a relay to get me service. Needless to say, I never heard from him again and he never returned either of my calls and messages. Home office never returned a follow up message either. Not sure about how they stay in business with practices like these. Glad I did not get service if this is the best service I would receive. I would rather have limited internet bandwidth than deal with service that is impossible to get a hold of.

They really take advantage of you when you live in a rural area and have no other options for service. You pay a high price for a very slow speed only advantage over satellite internet is they have no limit on how much data you can use.The the real trouble starts when you no longer want the service and try to cancel it. They will stop answering your phone calls once they find out why you are calling and then tell you they need a 90 day notice to cancel the service so the 1 year contract turns into 15 months.
