Had an appointment at 2:30 on Saturday the third. To get all four of my tires changed out. The guy behind the counter I’ve sold me on a better package deal. Which I agreed to. Told me to be done by 5pm.I arrived at five to pick up my car. It was still in the same spot and I still have the old tires on it! Very disappointed. And all they could say was your next.What’s the point of setting up an appointment if you’re not gonna keep the times.

Dropped car off to get inspection and tie rod changed out... very quick and cheap work. also they kept calling to updated me along the way. it was an amazing experience and will definitely be back for more if need be. very friendly

On October 29, 2018 I was approaching my car and noticed my left rear tire was almost flat. I removed the tire myself and discovered that it had a nail in it. The nail was located on the part of the tire that contacts the road and was not on the side wall or near the sidewall. (See photos below) I took the flat tire to National Tire and Battery located at 201 West Mercury Boulevard Hampton Virginia 23669. I took the tire into the office and showed the associate/manager. He studied the tire with the nail in it for about 30 seconds saying nothing. He then looks me in the face and says Im sorry but we cannot repair this because of the location of the nail in a Groove. I told him that I was an ex Navy mechanic and that this type of repair was extremely basic and performed routinely with no compromise to safety whatsoever. I took the tire with the nail in it and left National Tire and Battery and drove about a mile up the street to Tread Quarters. At Tread Quarters they fixed my tire while I waited and I was out the door in less than 30 minutes. I am a long-time customer of National Tire and Battery and have purchased my last two sets of tires (8 tires at about $180/ea) with this company. As of now, I will never buy another tire from National Tire and Battery or anyone affiliated with them and I will not recommend them to anyone.

I was just charged $514 for a synthetic oil change and spark plug replacement. A military discount was not applied to my bill. To make things worse, NTB ran a diagnostic check on my vehicle (that I did not ask for) and cannot reset the computer system in my vehicle. This has forced me to schedule an appointment with a dealership that cant be met for 14 days.I will adjust my review If, NTB returns the $140 diagnostic charge, and applies my military discount.Other wise, I will be contacting the BBB for the first time. I will be informing every commander I communicate with in the Active and Reserve sectors.

I was given an estimate of $814 to replace a rear hub assembly. I got it done for $478. This wasnt a difficult job. I need tires in the next couple months, but not from NTB!

Had an 8 am appointment and was waiting over 40 minutes in the parking lot they didnt even open the doors. They wouldn’t answer the phone or anything this place is the worst and i hope they got out of business . Jiffy lube was way better

The customer service is top notch!! My truck developed a horrible vibration and needed service asap. They were very busy when I arrived. Steve called 1hour later with the outcome. It was sticker shock I was not expecting!!! I came back and Steve did a great job offering multiple quality options and finding discounts. They had a few delays (couple hours) completing the repairs but they were honest about it and that I appreciate! I got my truck back the day they said I would. Steve also did a follow-up call after I picked up my truck to see if I was satisfied with the repairs. All seems good again! I would definitely recommend.

Last Friday as I was driving home I smelled something burning, and I pulled onto NTB, it was my brakes, so Steve worked all weekend to not only repair my brakes, but I needed struts as well. So now my 19 years old car drives like new. Steve kept in touch with to keep my update the whole time. So, thank you NTB:)

Coming out of the HRBT I blew a whole in my radiator. limped it to NTB on W. Mercury Blvd. Attendant explained he would not be able to get it in that day because they were booked up and it was approaching closing time, however would have it the next day if I could leave it. Couldnt get it much further without blowing up engine so I agreed. Attendant even went as far as to call local Enterprise to get them to come pick me up to get a rental. Had wife and 2 small kids with me, they were a life saver. I was able to pick up the car very next day before closing. Took me out to the shop and showed me old radiator and explained cause of damage thoroughly. Same attendant even called me the following day to inquire that everything was ok and that I had made it home safe. Thank you NTB.

Not too long of a wait with appointmenf they found the problem and fixed it. Hopefully it solved the issue. Theres really no telling w/ a patch. Very reasonable price and great employees.

I was towing a Travel Trailer on 64 and experienced a blow out on one of my tires. I changed it and was able to get back on the road, but needed a new tire to replace my spare.I found this merchants a few miles away, I called them and spoke with a nice gentleman who said he had 4 in stock.I came rolling in a few minutes later and he remembered I called and immediately took my blown tire to the service bays and had one of his techs get it changed out immediately.I cant complain at all for the service or the professionalism

I went in to have my tire that was leaking air fixed, had it fixed in an hour. Woke up the next day with it not only still leaking air, but worse than before to the point of completely flat. When I tried to get it taken care of the next day they were happy to let me know they tried again but could do my brakes while I was there. If you cant fix a tire I dont want you to touch my brakes.

Didnt wanna even give them 1 star. Okay so here we go...my order never came in when it was a 4 day notification and convince and pressured her to go with these tires that was supposed to go in the back and then they pressured her to do an alignment note to self 3 tires are going in the back I ran over a nail and figured if replacing 1 tire lets do them both I will never in my life go to any off yalls shops ever again

Bottom line...DO NOT GO TO THIS MERCHANTS LOCATION. Like one poster has already stated, may not be in business for long. You will bring your car in for routine maintenance and head home needing hundreds on dollars in repairs. Either they are highly incompetent or using illegal practices. They totally messed my alignment/balance up. Car was shaking like crazy until I took it elsewhere. Manager acted like it wasn’t his fault. See a theme? Go elsewhere.UPDATE: I received a call from this company’s HQ addressing my concern. They promptly rectified my issue. I still can’t recommended this particular Merchant’s location but I will say the corporate level customer service is top notch. You can have confidence in knowing that.

Made an appointment online, which went perfectly. Arrived 15 minutes early, and got a pleasant welcome. Was in for a tire rotation, balance, and alignment. Took about 2 hours, which is what i expected. Paperwork was quick and painless, car was clean when i got it back, and rolled like a dream.

Called on Saturday to schedule an appointment for an oil change and tire rotation on Sunday. Was scheduled for 1pm, came to the store at 12:30. Was asked if I’d be waiting or coming back for it. I said I’d come back, the gentleman said it would be ready at 4. I arrived at 4:10. Car wasn’t ready, actually had just went up. He said it would be ready shortly. That was 45 minutes later. This is not the first time, I’ve been quoted one thing and it wasn’t done. I scheduled an appointment so I wouldn’t have to wait for the car. When I call and schedule the appointment and drop it off, it should be done when you’ve told me to return, I shouldn’t be waiting another 45 minutes. When I said something, the gentleman walked to the garage area to avoid the awkwardness of him not following through. What’s the point in scheduling the appointment, if it’s not going to be done when you’re told? I’ve beem coming here for years and had no intention of leaving a bad review until after waiting for 46 minutes after my quoted time, I got get in my car, that has been parked out front, while waited to pay and the window o was left down, in the rain..why? Thanks NTB, I’ll be finding a new place to take my car.

Steve and his crew always take care of me .My car was making a funny noise I thought it was my tire rod least that’s what I was told by another shop.I was so sick bc it’s the holidays and it was going to cost me $530 to later find out the person who changed my brakes didn’t put the bolts back on the caliper bracket which caused my vehicle to make these weird noises but I trusted Steve and his team to get me right .As usual they did and didn’t even charge me he said we had a matching bolt and installed it no charge ;now my children can enjoy their Christmas with no stress or worries. I would highly advise anyone to not overlook NTB MERCURY BLVD IF YOU WANT YOUR VEHICLE DONE RIGHT DONT HESITATE!!!!

Made a appointment to fix a tire was told that it was going to be a hour wait and 1.5 hour fix. Incompetent manager and staff.

I called to make an appointment the day before and the person said that 11 was the time open. When my husband dropped it off they said that there was no appointment even though I had made one over the phone the day before.We dropped the vehicle off to have a tire repaired and an alignment done. Two days after getting my car back I see the NAIL IN MY TIRE STILL. did they even do the alignment I dont know!! Do not go here the service is horrible the rating lies!

No complaints. They do a good job on your vehicle here. Cant say I feel like they cheated me either.Edit:Down to three stars because my last few visits were very different. Quite disappointed in you all.

Customer service at Merchants Tire on Mercury Blvd in Hampton, VA is great. They have wonderful mechanics, and fix your vehicle in a timely manner. I was very satisfied with my visit there.

My daughter took her car there for a noise and RPMs dropping occasionally. They supposedly ran a diagnostic on it and gave us a huge list of what was wrong. They gouged us for $1000 and the car still had the same problem. She took it back a couple days later, and the mechanic told her it was probably the transmission and sent her out the door with no help. She drove it to West Virginia to have my mechanic look at it. He informed me the noise is the serpentine belt is wore out and needs replaced. The RPMs dropping is an internal vacuum leak. So after a mere $300, problem solved. Moral is for a woman, it’s a big $$$ sign walking in the door. That’s really sad. We won’t be back and I advise any other female who values honesty and her bank account to stay away, too.

Went to the Hampton location 3 months ago and spent $400+ and even though I had an appointment, still waited 3 hours. Went today for a simple oil change and a tire balance. Once again waited 3 hours and NOTHING HAD BEEN DONE TO MY CAR. The mechanic was talking on his cell phone, my car was up on the rack with nothing done. I told them to get the car down and give me my keys back. The manager had gone and left another employee at the front desk.He told me they only had one mechanic there today which was a lie because I saw others over the course of my 3 hour wait for nothing. I will not go back. AWFUL SERVICE.

Good visit, they actually did what they said they couldnt do the last visit. Tires rotated, balanced and alignment. Took lug nuts back and got my money refunded.

**************NEGLIGENCE**************************SUPER SHADY***********Either over sold me a tire or sent me out with a dangerous vehicle?I dropped my car off first thing on monday with a flat tire, easy patch right? Nope, turned into a 3 day saga. According to them they couldnt patch so whatever, just replace it so I can get on with my life. They replace the tire, so far so good. Not really...When I pick up my car Patrick tells me to keep an eye out on my front passenger tire, it has a bubble. I ask him what that means and he says to just keep an eye on it. Whatever, I got things to do. Then Im in the middle of HRBT and I get a call from the manager there. He tells me my other tire is damaged and needs to be replaced ASAP. He orders it for me. It will be at the store at 7 am when they open and Ill be good to go by 8 am. So I white knuckle it to work and back home. Yay so much fun.Then I get a call, the tire will not be there until 12 pm instead of 7 am. At this point I ask why they didnt just replace both tires at the same time. Unfortunately Patrick couldnt answer that question and wanted to just move forward. I make an appointment for 1:30 and call at 12 to confirm we are good to go. Patrick confirms we are all set, come on down. 1:30.....no tire.....no apology. He was just too busy to call us back that there was an issue. We can wait or come back later. Called NTB customer service and they took off the extra service charge. Probably why they didnt want to replace the tires at the same time, more money for them? SHADYDid you know that they have optional warranties? I didnt until customer service told me. After the initial tire charge, they charged me for warranty without discussing it with me. More money for them right? SUPER SHADY

Super helpful and friendly service! Just needed a headlight bulb put in, and the manager on duty handled it himself with a smile right away. I didnt even tell him I had a 4 hour drive home.

They made me feel unwanted as I got to the door at 630pm and they had to unlock it to tell me that they are closed. The sign said 7pm so they reluctantly changed my tire. I asked why they had the door locked so early and he said that they were trying to go home at 7. It only took them 10 minutes to change my tire....hope he got home by 7.

I went there today to get my window regulator replaced. I had the window taped up for awhile so when they took it off there was sticky residue still on there. They helped me out to get that off and replaced the regulator. The price was good and service was excellent. Good military discount. I will be going here from now on for all my car repairs.

Service here ruined the reputation Ive had for Merchant stores. The desk clerk was rude. I explained that I attempted to make an appointment online for this time, but website was malfunctioning. I even showed him the page on my laptop that said there was an error. In the span of 2 hours (from when I attempted to make the appointment to when I arrived) all their appointments had filled up. Despite the bays being empty (except 1) and only 2 clients in the store, he could not start my oil change for at least 90 minutes. Go to Tread quarters down the road. They take walk-ins and are polite.

Don’t go to this location, or else you might end up paying for something that they didn’t even do. I went in there to get new tires and was estimated a price of 450 a few days before the appointment. On the day of the appointment, my wife took our van in there and they tried to charge her 50 dollars more than what we were quoted until she called me and I told her to not accept paying anymore than we were quoted.AND THEN, as my wife was sitting in the lobby waiting for our tires to be put on, a mechanic came up to her and tried to convince her that our headlights needed to be cleaned and would charge her 112 dollars to clean them. 112 DOLLARS TO CLEAN THE HEADLIGHTS?!? They were obviously trying to take advantage of a woman whom they thought wouldn’t know any better.THE WORST PART is that we paid to have an alignment but the van is still pulling to the right the exact same way it did before we took it in. So it sure does seem to me that we paid for an alignment that they never even did.Don’t take your vehicle here, they will definitely try their hardest to rip you off.

Free tire rotation with oil change is a scam to get you in so that they can sell more services. When I went out to get my van I noticed that the tires had not been rotated. The free rotation was the main reason I went there. When I called them on it they gave me some bull like I was a women with no knowledge of auto maintenance. My first and last time taking my vehicle here.

While the labor prices seem a little high ($112.00/hr), the folks working here are very nice and the work we had done was performed very well.

Do not go here they talk a big game but will ultimately mess something up in your car. They poked a hole in my ac line, and said it was already broken like Im sure; My ac was working just fine before I took it in to the unprofessional nim wits. Told them about it took it back in, and they proceeded to tell me it was out of charge. For those who do not know your ac does not just loose freon or charge you ac lines are a closed system nothing goes in, nothing goes out unless there is a hole which I told them being as I am an hvac tech. They continued with the story of they didnt do it instead of ok sorry sir we may have put a hole in your line we will fix that on us so be warned take your vehicle somewhere else.

Shysty bunch of mechanics. Will never come back or recommend this shop. I am a former mechanic myself for 10 years. I am ASE and I CAR certified. Looked over in the bay and the inspector was under my hood. I asked him what was he doing and he said a courtesy check. I told him no I dont want it. Guy comes out and says I need a bulb replaced to have it pass inspection. Turns out he the bulb was blown and cracked and my light bessle wasnt even cracked. A light bulb will just blow not blow and explode..the service was more than rude and unsatisfactory. Looks like theyre looking for things to break to charge you out of pocket.
