The lady who was doing my hair arrived super late. Took the lady 9 hours to do box braids because she was doing my hair and another clients, charged extra for the length which I feel like they should tell you how much they charge for a specific length. They were unprofessional and then wants to ask for a tip. I ended up spending $300 for some ugly box braids my friend does my box braids for $80 and hers are better looking and she’s fast. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS SHOP!!!!

I have been going to Shay for over 5 years and always has me leaving beautiful, confident, and smiling ear to ear. She is amazing from silk press, color, to customizing wigs for you. I had the pleasure of being styled by Miss Penny today. I was so pleased I had a last min event come up and I rushed to the website to book last night and there was immediate next day availability. I have visited this establishment plenty of times before and sat in multiple stylist chairs no matter who I go to I always walk out FLAWLESS & feeling myself.This was my first time with her and it was no different. She was working solo today but the vibe and atmosphere was so relaxing. She gives an amazing scalp treatment in the bowl I almost knocked out on her haha.I got a silk press and it was great at the end I had some preference changes I didn’t mention from beginning (my bad) but she made them happen and was not a bit bothered by my late request. I’d definitely recommend her and be honored to sit in her chair again. VERY PROFESSIONAL

I just got my daughters hair done yesterday I paid $70 for her to get a braided ponytail with extensions and her ponytail is already unraveling she did not braid the ends of her ponytail well I’m disappointed I thought I could be a regular customer here

Horrible service! $80 for this?! I should have argued that I wasnt paying at all. I pointed out the uneven shaved line across his head and just got a oh yeah no apology, nothing to try to make it right! Completely unprofessional! Save your money and your time. This took 3 hours.

First, it took me a whole week to book an appointment because no one would answer the phone and when they did, I was told I would get a call back from a stylist regarding my hairstyle request, which the first person Recommended to me never called. I was not able to get my hair done on the day I requested. One person even wanted to hang up on me because they were not able to help me smh. Finally, I got booked with a stylist, and then she canceled on me the same day because she could not make our scheduled time. Then I rebooked with the same stylist for the day after, and the stylist was late. The appointment was at 9 am, and she texted me at 9 am that she was running late, and it took her 43 minutes! I stayed for my appointment only because I had already started taking my hair Down! The hairstyle I asked for was six stitch feed in braids, and a sew in the back, and I already had the sew-in just needed a wash, touch up, and the six braids. The product used on my hair was some edge control wax that did not last with my hair. My stitch braids did not come out as good as I’d hoped for, nor did they last smh. Not to mention my braids from the sew-in were still wet upon her finishing the hairstyle. It took her 5 hours to complete this style, and it should not have taken that long! Another client accompanied us during my appointment Who was also a close friend, which I felt was very unprofessional. I was highly disappointed with the service and the overall experience smh! The first person I spoke with was the owner Miranda who was helpful in the beginning. I dont know who the second lady is who wanted to hang up on me but did have a strong accent. And Brittany, not sure how to spell her name, was the one who performed the style.

Shay is hands down a a hair visionary. She had told me of her plans to do a balayage on me. I was nervous because I hadnt bleached or dyed my hair in years, but I put my trust in her. As always she out did herself. The blend was beautiful, the cut to die for, the styling immaculate. I couldnt stop flipping my hair, snapping selfies and sending flirty looks to random people because I felt gorgeous. Shay single handedly breathed confidence into me with my hair. I highly recommend that you let her be your fairy hairmother just once. You wont regret it.

I called and set an appointment for my 3 year old daughter for roller set. I specifically called and spoke with someone to emphasize my daughter’s age and her hair is natural. The appointment was then set up for 9:00 am with Penny in about a week (I have several emails and texts for substantiation). On the day of the appointment, I got there a little bit before 9:00 am, the place was not open so I waited in the parking lot with my daughter. 10 minutes after 9:00, a lady showed up and walked by me without stopping and asked me if I have an appointment, to which I replied “yes I have an appointment with Penny at 9:00 am for roller set.” She walked away without a word and proceeded to open the building. After she unlocked the front door, I walked into the salon to enquire if Penny will be there and etc...,to my surprise, she replied that she is the Penny. I was surprised that she walked by me and my daughter without at least any greeting and the courtesy to introduce herself when I told her outside that I was waiting because I have an appointment with Penny at 9:00 am. She then asked me if the appointment was for me or my daughter. Based on her very perplexed expression and questions, I presumed then, she must have not been aware of the appointment so I asked her, are you aware of the appointment? She replied “yes” that she was aware of the appointment. Still no acknowledgment of her tardiness instead her expression was quite sour. She then told me with an air of annoyance that roller set can’t do anything for my daughter’s hair. That was my cue not only she is lacking of any basic courtesy of a civil human being let alone a professional. Even more, her lack of knowledge of natural curly hair and professionalism made me doubt that she was even licensed. I told her politely that there have been a mistake and walked away, because it was clear that a savage animal had more humanity qualities than her; there was no way I could let a damaged being like her come near my daughter because by then there were too many concerns about her behavior and lack of professionalism.

Its appointment only usually and they have two great Barbers and on the other side they have women who can braid your hair and do hair designs I really love this place

Update: 10/9/17 Nails, nails, nails! I absolutely love my Nail Technicians work. Candice provides the ultimate nail experience. I always receive compliments on her artistry. Once you sit at her nail bar you will think twice about going anywhere else. Very thorough and prompt. She values your time and hers so she gets you in and out. Book her now because her appointment book fills up quickly!

Terrible. If you are seeking interlock service look elsewhere. Avoid Carol if you care about your hair. She is a rip off. She over charges. Shows up late or not at all. She will ruin your parting. She will combine locs without consulting you. She won’t even fully interloc the hair leaving you with weak bases. Spare yourself the time, money and heartache and take your business elsewhere.

Miss Melanie is an angel. An incredibly talented angel. I am sick and experiencing hair loss. As a woman it has been devastating. I stopped going out... stopped enjoying day to day things because I was embarrassed. I went to Melanie with products sold to me by a supply store and she let me know it was gonna look fake and not do the job. She then custom made my wig and I am still in awe at the transformation. I sent pix to friends and family who havent seen my hair loss and they all think i just got my real hair colored!!!!!!! Not 1 of them realized its a wig.Being sick may take my hair. But Melanie gave me back my confidence.Do yourself a favor and GO SEE THIS WOMAN!!!!!!

Went in for weave install. Hairstylist put in weave way too tight. I asked for her too not go to tight. Also she didnt leave hair out under front right side .I was unable to pull hair back because no leave out to cover the track and extremely tight . Paid over $300.00. I took weave out after 2 days because it was so tight it split my scalp open and blisters started.With that said I have had good experience with this place but equally bad ones.

It’s a bit of a drive for me, but I always see Deborah and she does and amazing job on my hair. I receive many compliments on my cut and color every time! All of the hair stylists here are so nice and friendly, and they all seem to vibe well together. It appears they have someone here that can do almost any style you need. Weaves, color, cuts, dreads, twists and even nails. Besides having a great hair stylist I see here I really enjoy the music they play as well.

I am fairly new to the area and have been in search of a braider/salon. I made an appointment towards the end of December for January 18 with a particular stylist. I received a call a day before my appointment asking if I can come at 11am instead of 8am and I agreed. I get to my appointment and I’m put with someone I didn’t book with. Against my better judgment I didn’t say anything. I just really needed my hair braided. She was struggling to catch my hair (I have short hair). So, instead of letting her continue I just said that my appointment can be cancelled because I didn’t want to get something and I know I wouldn’t be happy (especially if I’ve never seen their work or was booked with them) that was the point in me booking with the original person because I saw her work via social media. I am upset that I was not informed that I would be someone completely different.

Man I have not been to a barber in almost 20 years due to bad experiences with other barbers, I took a chance on twiztedmanez and Im glad I did. I was greeted warmly by the Ladies, and my barber CELL Dude is great, nice conversation while getting cut. I will recommend him to anyone seeing these reviews. Never again! Went here for my 10am appointment and was immediately turned off. Walked in around 945am, and wasnt even addressed as I walked through the door. Like, by no ONE! There was no clerk at the desk so I stood there patiently waiting for one to arrive. Never happened. No one even got the clerk or anyones attention to come & address me. So I sit down next to 2 other people whom I assumed were waiting to be serviced. 10 o clock rolls around and still, no one has addressed me. My thing is, I shouldnt have to be the one to initiate anything when I walk in to an establishment. I should be greeted upon entry like any other place of business does. So, again, they all saw me walk in and no one said anything to me. I just left. I didnt even feel welcomed there to be honest. Its customer service 101 to acknowledge when someone walks through the door of your establishment as a paying customer. With that being said, I left and I dont plan on returning.

Stephanie B. The barber at this location is almost to good to be true when it comes to getting my hair cut. Not only does she do a great job but she makes myself an everyone else I see come through feel comfortable and relaxed to be there. Im 30 yrs old an its the first time I can say I really dont want to get out the chair when Im done. Her cuts make you look good, feel good and is worth every penny spent on her service and then some. While this has only been my second Devacut, Carol reset the bar. She is such a kind, sweet, mellow person; she creates a peaceful atmosphere. You will never feel rushed or forgotten about in her care. She takes her time and figures out how to best cut and style your hair. Everyone who works there makes you feel like a welcomed guest. The salon is clean and well-kept. I am never going anywhere else.

So I visited this place from out of town because of the good reviews. The staff was very friendly but this is the worst sew-in that I’ve ever gotten. I probably could have done it my self. Not to mention, my appointment was at 1:00 and I did not leave until after 6 o’clock. The stylist (Keisha) tried to fix it after I told her I did not like it, however I was still not satisfied. I would not recommend this place for a sew in.

I love Elysium Salon! Throughout my pregnancies when I could I would go pamper myself here. It was always so relaxing that I usually ended up falling asleep. Candy does an AMAZING job on my nails every time and Rasheens weaves are the BEST I have ever gotten. I have been disappointed but only by myself because every weave I have gotten by Rasheen has out lasted the cheap hair I bought.. I know better know! Quality hair because she provides a quality service. I didnt think the cost of their services were expensive and I left felling refreshed, better in general because I was looking a THOUSAND percent better than when I walked in! I cant wait to get back in to see them! And the entire team seemed VERY professional and family friendly to me, also!

The haircut quality was great, and the services were convenient as far as time and location, but the environment was unprofessional. I tried to make it work, but I could no longer tolerate the vulgar gangsta rap music playing while I was there. And it broke my heart to watch young boys being exposed to profanity laced music that glorified sex, drugs, and violence while they waited for their haircuts. I hope the owners address this issue in the future. If so I would gladly return...

Im on the fence. It really depends on the stylist you use. BE CAREFUL! I went in one time and one of the stylist use a flat iron from 1985. She burned me several times, then complained when I jerk my head from being burned. Also she used products that I could just buy from any store. I was over charged too. Some stylist there are good and dont overcharge. It seems like the ones who do the crappy jobs on hair charge the most. I wish I lived closer to Tempe. I had a salon I went to in Tempe hat was unbelievably good and did not overcharge clients.

Terrible hair color and cut job! Messy and dirty salon. Needs a good cleaning. When I paid the stylist used her cell phone to run my credit card......within hours my account was hacked and several hundred dollars in Starbucks $25. gift cards were charged to my credit card. Never happened before, the card was only a few months old, and I had not used it for over a month. I think it got compromised at this salon. I would not return!

HORRIBLE SALON. Took my daughter who is 3 years old in to get her first haircut. First, my appt was lost. When they did find someone who would do her hair, the hairstylist came out and the first words out of her mouth were Does she sit well, because I dont deal with crying babies., and walks to the back. We follow and puts my daughter in her seat. She then makes a comment about what I use in her hair, while on her counter she has THE EXACT SAME PRODUCT AS I USE, and hands me the comb, telling me to get the knots out of my daughters hair, and walks away. I was shocked. I took the cape off of my daughter and walked straight out. I thought I would bring my biracial daughter to a place that would understand how to do her hair, instead I left shocked and angry at how I was treated. I cant believe that someone would have the audacity to treat my daughter the way that woman did. I wouldnt send my worst enemy here.

Not only was my stylist 40 minutes late, thankfully someone else washed my hair while we continued to wait on her . She finally arrives to start someone elses head like I dont have things to do.. Never again and I really liked this place dad it takes this one incident to ensure that I never come back .

Made an appointment for my daughter to get her hair braided and the stylist never showed up. I waited an hour of my time Ill never get back. The worst part is my daughter really wanted her hair done and was in tears after we left the shop. First impressions are everything to me and this was a major disappointment.

Worst service. I was a walk in I asked for a tighten I was told it would 20 minutes. I waited and waited for 45 minutes. The lady took me a back to her chair after two of the stylist told her I was waiting. Once in her chair she asked me what I needed. I told I needed on track tighten. She said okay let me get my thread and needle. I waited for another 15 minutes. I get out of my chair went over to the other room and she was coloring another client hair talking to another stylist I told I have been waiting for her and I have to leave. She tells me have a nice day!! She was rude and unproffesional!! All she had to say she couldnt do it. I would been fine with that because I was a wall in. Her dumb ass wasted my time. Dont recommend this shop with Keshia working there.

Candy is amazing...she mixes colors to make what I like. She mixes to match toes with fingers if you get powder dip nails, she will work magic to match the toes.

So Im not going to be rude but most of the negative reviews seem to stem from customers who do not accept fault for themselves. I am not a spokeswoman for Elysium but I have been an avid customer since 2009. I have always had an exceptional experience and treated with the utmost respect. This African American owned shop is a pillar and prime example of how black professionals can come together and collaborate effectively. I have spent thousands here and treated as part of the family. I look forward to coming to each and every appointment on time and enjoying the company. The owner in which has invited my sister and I to personal events has the most understanding and giving nature.This is not a ghetto hood shop. All employees and owners have full disclosure with their prices with signs posted in visible places disclosing prices and policies while you are being serviced. They use the best salon quality products and most stylists are certified in different skill sets and product lines. I have never seen shop full of highly qualified individuals that continously educate themselves and sponsor in-house training sessions. They focus on making sound judgements and will not overprocess and destroy your hair.During my stay there I have seen people destroy furniture along with their unruly children. I have also seen people and their horrible children ruin bathrooms after one use and attempt to touch things that will cause injury. This is a salon full of chemicals, hot items, and sharp objects why would of all places will you have children acting out or playing here?In addition, I have seen biracial children and adults come in with heads looking like rats nests and admit to not doing anything to it. Why I ask would you come in or walk around looking like this? Why do you want bleached hair and then permed hair on the same day? If you have biracial children or are biracial dont let your or your childs hair go unattended for weeks and then throw it off on someone else? Learn how to teach your biracial child to tend to their hair and love it! Or learn how to do it yourself. No stylist wants to be held accountable for bald spots caused by your parental neglect. Would it be fair for the stylist to charge extra to take on this additional liability?If you want a haircut why not schedule and appointment this is not SmartCuts. Why come in at the last minute? It seems very sad that other minorities will downgrade a shop established to service them so harshly for such pettiness. I have had every service in the salon and was willing to follow them to Goodyear. Candi is great and the reason why I found this hidden treasure. Carol who is so outstanding with Natural hair and has Magical growing hands. Rasheen the owner holds her stylist to high standards and it shows in the service. She is the Queen of hair styling. If I ever did move out of state I will definitely come back here for service!

Yes well said and doneI brought my daughter in to get her hair done for the first time and it was the worst impression.One of the stylist was talking about the customer when she left out to the entire salon about her hair.Very unprofessional.My daughter didnt want to go back since.At the time my other daughter was 3 years old and the owner thought she was going to tear her hair dryer chair up because she was moving around in the chair trying to sit and turn around to watch her mommy.The owner looks and what she said what done it for me as if my daughter was out to tear up her chair.I was like lighten up some parents do discipline their kids still.Understand if you were going to the salon with your child.Wouldnt you want to feel respected as well with your child.So I ended up finding a more family oriented salon.Yes the prices are over price as well.Sad we cant support one another without ripping each other off and being unprofessional towards each other.Sorry case...

I came to get my sons hair cut and the internet said the shop closed at 7pm and so i arrive at 625pm and the shop was already closed and the Barber was in the shop and he seen me at the door and just turned his like like he didnt even see me. Very rude and if your shop closes at 6 or 630 you should change your information before people drive a long way to try to get a hair cut. Thanks for wasting my gas.
