Herbert Garcia Martinez deserves a 5 star rating across the board.He was excellent in all aspects of customer support including technicalexpertise, interpersonal communications, responsiveness and ability to listen. I consider him to be a top notch performer who very quickly determined what was wrong with my system; and fixed it in minuteswhile explaining to me what he was doing and why.

We had a water heater leak and another leak that needed to be found. I made an appointment online but the staff called to schedule me earlier based on the problems. The plumbers were knowledgeable and efficient. I got a new tank (I knew that was going to be needed based on the age) the same day as the visit. They diagnosed the other leak, gave advice on the best way to fix it and completed the job quickly. They were prompt and transparent. I would definitely recommend this company for all plumbing needs.

The technician Nick found an innovative solution to a problem by rerouting a water line to install a new hose bibb avoiding a conflict with a new renovation design in progress. Quote was honest and fair and I feel that I received added value in the solution outcome. I purchased a membership which comes with an bi-annual PM inspection. Perfect for older homes on well systems. This was the second job Wheaton performed for me. Highly recommend.

They scheduled a technician to come out and within few hours, Luis came out. He appeared very knowlegeable and professional. He discovered the gas leak immediately and went to work with another technician. Few minutes after, they changed the valve and everything was perfect.This company also scheduled a plumber to come to our house in less than 24 hours, and again, the technician was very knowlegeable, professional and attentive. He checked out the work, made recommendations and got to work immediately. Within a short time, work was competently completed ! Put bluntly, this company is far superior to other companies in their response, knowledge, and execution of the project. During the middle of a heat wave, our new AC handler unit in the attic started to leak through water through the ceiling of our 50 year house. We turned the unit off and called the seller and installer. He ignored us for hours and then basically ignored us. After two sleepless, sweaty, angry nights, we called Wheat late at night. They called back the next morning and provided a timeline for that day! Ricardo came out, was polite, efficient, knowledgeable, and effective! He was a hero to us! Ricardo EVERY TIME from here on.

Charles - the service person - came immediately after he called planning for the service visit. He was professional, polite, and most of all - very knowledgeable! I had called James Wheat and Sons for a possible well pump replacement. Charles opened the well cap and did a brief inspection and then asked to take a look at the electrical breaker box and at the receiving water tank inside. We had been experiencing very low water pressure and the well pump was suspected but upon Charles inspection of the neutralizing system he concluded that that was the problem and not the pump. Charles very carefully and knowledgeably disassembled the electrical and mechanical assembly driving the neutralizing tank and tried several times to repair but finally concluded that something was wrong inside the tank and advised that it needed replacement - which I have agreed to have him do. Throughout his repair analysis and work I was extremely impressed at how much he was capable and able to proceed with his analysis of problems - not only of the possible failing well pump but with all aspects of my neutralizing system! I give Charles an A+ for his analysis and work! Couldnt have asked for anything further! Well done, Charles!

I have used James A Wheat as my plumber for several years now. Today I had an annual plumbing inspection done (part of my annual contract). Charles did the inspection, he was prompt and courteous and did a thorough job of checking all my toilets, faucets (both indoor and outdoor), garbage disposal, showers/baths, etc. - made some good recommendations (sump pump needs replacement). I highly recommend James A Wheat, they have done excellent repair/replacement work for me in the past, all at fair cost and with high reliability.

Michael Celis was the tech. Very professional work and prompt. What I would like to single out is that Mr. Celis saved us money. We had been told by another contractor that we needed a complete replacement of a leaking bib and spigot for more than a $1000. Michael carefully examined the bib and spigot, indoor piping as well, and concluded that this was not the problem at all. No leak, the bib and spigot were working fine. Turned out to be the tubing for an Air Conditioning condensation line, which he fixed. Much appreciated.

High quality work, very professional, and cost was much better than what other competitors quoted. This Company is horrible. Ive been having condensation in my ducts and found this Company online. Based on the reviews I thought they could do the job. They came for a consult charged me 125 and said someone else from their team needs to come out, but I would not be charged another 125. Someone by the name of Tyler came out on 8/26 and was supposed to give me an estimate on replacing the ducts but instead I get an email today from Tyler saying someone needs to come and give a diagnostic and it would cost 125. Basically I paid 125 initially for nothing.

Wheat & Sons has always been our go to service provider for everything we have needed over the years for plumbing, heating and a/c. Their customer service and responsiveness has been consistently outstanding. Their communication in advance of an appointment, during the appointment and the follow up afterwards is exceptional. Richard Pedroza conducted an Eagle contract maintenance check and did excellent work to have the air conditioning running optimally and to provide an estimate for a replacement of an 18 year old furnace. Yesterday, Elik Hernandez Bonilla installed the new furnace, air filter and humidifier at an affordable price. Elik consulted me as the installation occurred to be sure I was aware of any minor changes from the original estimate and and as they completed the work. They left the area cleaner than it was when they arrived and the care they took is evident. Much thanks for a job well done.

My family used James A. Wheat & Sons for many years in our home in Potomac. We had an annual inspection and repair agreement that was cost efficient and practical. They always did a great job and communicate so well. We moved to a condo in Bethesda that requires less maintenance, but we still call them whenever we need help! Charlie and Tony were there yesterday to help with a back-up. They were on time, polite, professional, and neat. I like the way the company trains new staff by apprenticing them to more experienced staff. Really efficient with the paperwork and technology, too.

We hired these guys to install two hvac units. Their prices were much more reasonable than other quotes we received. They offered us several heat pump options at various price points and were happy to address technical questions and provide supporting information. The guys onsite were great and the work was done well in a timely fashion. Overall, very good experience.

We’ve used JA Wheat & Sons for a number of years. Most recently we had a major problem with a broken pipe that gushed torrents of water into a basement bathroom and bedroom in the middle of the night. Kudos to Anil Das, who came to our rescue promptly the next day. He was fantastic. Extremely knowledgeable and helpful in explaining to us exactly what went wrong and suggesting both fixes and upgrades (to our old house and its old plumbing) so we wouldn’t have the same problem again. He went above and beyond and helping us — probably the best service we’ve ever received.

Jon & Jacob were terrific in refurbishing our gas fireplace, which now looks and works better than new. Jon went the extra mile and took the time to explain about using it, especially since it vents to a covered deck area. Jenny was excellent in setting-up our appointment and keeping us informed on the status of it and Jons arrival. All-around great experience!

I gave one star because the lady that answers the phone is nice, (and it’s the minimum you can give), everything else about dealing with them has been zero stars.First visit to give us an estimate for a new hot water heater, the salesman was nice enough, tried to upsell us on a couple things, which can be expected, but seemed competent so we went with them.Next visit, during the actual installation, which included a pressure regulator, one of the pipes beneath my bathroom sink started leaking badly. They called their supervisor, who didn’t know he was on speakerphone, and told them “tell her it’s not our fault, she’ll never know the difference. Then offer to fix it so we can make some extra money.” The technicians were at least embarrassed enough to fix it for free, but left my bathroom an absolute mess.Fast forward to the inspection, which failed due to several issues that should have been addressed during the initial installation. When trying to explain it to me, the technician told me “basically it has to do with BTUs, but you wouldn’t understand, so just call the office and they’ll schedule the work for you.” And to top it all off, neither he nor the lady that scheduled my appointment can tell me whether or not I’m going to have to pay for these repairs- “they’ll let you know after they’re done.” And I have no choice, because I have to get my house up to code, but what sort of company won’t tell you if they’re going to charge you until after they do work in your house?So repair day comes, the technicians are nice, admit that the inspection failure was their fault, and complete the work for free with little difficulty. The next morning I wake up to find that they have turned off the furnace, unplugged my washing machine, which was nowhere near the area where they were working, and left my hot water heater on pilot mode, so my house is 62° and I can’t take a hot shower before work.Can’t wait to see what the repeat inspection holds. Definitely won’t be doing business with them again once this fiasco is over.Edited to Add: We did pass the second inspection. After leaving this review I was called by the office manager, who apologized for my inconveniences. I was considering adjusting to 2 or 3 stars since the water heater works now and the price was competitive, however, she has contacted me twice now to request I remove this review all together because “we fixed our mistakes at no cost to you.” I should certainly hope so. Since I rely heavily on Google reviews make decisions about which companies earn my business, I feel it is only right to leave this review in place.

Jose and his team did a fantastic job. It started with an emergency from a pinhole leak in the overflow tank on the hot water heater. We called at 5pm and Jose was able to come out within 2 hours to resolve the emergency. He diagnosed the issue and issued a quote and we had them back a few days later to complete a more permanent fix which was done flawlessly. We will be having Jose back to complete a lot more plumbing work for the house to clear up our remaining issues. Highly recommend James A. Wheat and Sons Inc.!!

Wheat and Sons came to our house to inspect and repair a problem with our gas fireplace pilot. Turns out there wasnt a major problem, but the techs were super friendly and did a great job refurbishing the fireplace for only a little more money than the original diagnostic cost. In the end the old gas fireplace looks and works much better than before. Shout out to the great communication skills of the technicians, as well as the secretary that booked the appt. From beginning to end I was comfortable and pleased with my choices, and would easily recommend the company to friends and family.

James A. Wheat and Sons installed a new tankless hot water heater for us and worked with us, months later, with regard to the gas inspection. The Washington Gas Inspector required additional items to be rectified and James A. Wheat and Sons sent the original installer out the very next day to rectify the situation, scheduled the follow up inspection and was in lock step with us until the inspector was satisfied. Charles, the technician sent for making the repairs, was very knowledgeable, friendly and honest as what it would take to make the repairs and how much it would cost to fix two leaking valves at the main water pipe. He was able to fix the problem quickly and I would definitely consider them for any future repair work.

My wife and I have been customers of James A. Wheat and Sons for the past 20 plus years in two different homes. Their service is always prompt, efficient, and professional.

This company tried to rip off my 87 year old father by trying to charge him $1300 for a job that a different company charged him only $570. He bought a new gas stove for his rental house for a new tenant. Since the old pipe connection didn’t fit to the new gas stove, he needed a new connection adapter. The $1300 quote was even after applying a 10% senior discount he said. I don’t know how this company has a 4.8 stars review.

They repaired a fireplace that another company could not. In a very short time they were able to diagnose the issue, which was a pilot problem, and replace the part all in one visit and in a relatively short time. The guys were clean, friendly, and explained everything to my satisfaction. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY!

I called to get my gas fireplace inspected and to solve a problem, the fire logs would sometimes turn on by themselves. I contacted James A Wheat because I wanted a reputable company with trained staff. I am so glad that I did. The technician and assistant arrived on time and were very professional and courteous. Upon inspection, they discovered the remote and associated wiring was not working properly. They quoted me a fair price which I accepted. They cleaned and rebuilt the fire logs. The fire logs look like new and the new remote functions great. I am very pleased with the service and the cost. 5 stars.

Weve been using the services of James A Wheat and Sons since we purchased our house in 2018. They have removed an old oil tank, maintained our boiler/furnace and AC every year keeping us comfortable. This year we had them replace our aging AC unit with a new Carrier system. The installation was performed professionally and within the time they estimated. We recently had a faulty power switch on our boiler/furnace. I called them after hours and had a call back in less then 10 minutes. They scheduled a technician the very next day which happened to be a Sunday. He arrived on time and took care of the repairs quickly and had our heating restored to service. After 17 years in our home, it was time to replace all our HVAC systems, water heaters, and ductless heating/cooling systems. Plus, we upgraded our basement apartment which added a second HVAC system and Water Heater.With a job this large we took multiple bids and reviewed each submitter. We selected Wheat and sons for two reasons. First, their reviews were positive and other reviewers found them responsive, professional, and provided good quality at a reasonable price.Second, when the Wheat representative showed up, I told him what equipment we were looking to replace. However, the rep was more interested in providing solutions and not equipment. He asked to come back the next week and brought two company experts to review our situation. After a 60-minute consultation, I felt confident that what we would purchase would give us a long-term solution to our heating and, air conditioning needs. No other company that came out took that amount of time to make sure what we were purchasing would work for us.Working with the office staff, I scheduled the installation which included the use of a crane from a private company. The office staff coordinated everyone involved.The ductless splits were installed in week one and the larger equipment was scheduled for week two. I was impressed by the week one crew and asked that they would be used for the second weeks work. The office staff accommodated the request.The second week went well and finished on time. The installation crew continued to do excellent work and kept disruption to a minimum.A month after installation, one of the water heaters stopped functioning. Late on a Sunday night, I texted our original Wheat representative about the problem. He responded and the office staff was alerted to the problem. Monday a technician was dispatched and found a blown fuse. He did not have a replacement in his truck. So, he left our home, drove 12 miles round trip to purchase a fuse replacement.Problems do happen and a company response, post-payment, and a month after installation, is a test of their quality and professionalism. Everyone at Wheat and Sons, from the sales representative, the visiting experts, the technicians, and the office staff gave all aspects, from initial meetings, scheduling, installation, and then a quick repair, their full attention.Another pleasant surprise was that the office staff made me aware of rebates and handled all the forms and interactions. The agencies they dealt with have notified me that the rebates have been issued.I was and still am impressed with all of the employees at Wheat, the new equipment, and the quality and pricing. The five-star rating is well deserved.

Excelente job. We needed an emergency service and they came within two hours. They made a reasonable assessment and were transparent about the costs. We are very happy with their overall service.

Their service on our gas fireplace has been really exceptional. First, they helped us repair our existing unit rather than needing to replace it, and then, whenever we’ve had issues, they came back and fixed it promptly. Professional who had been to my home several times in the past so familiar with me and the home. On time, attention to distancing and wearing a mask at all times, performed the maintenance efficiently yet did not rush to complete the job. Explained all his findings. Very pleased with the service.

The technician was very thorough in his inspection. He was very detail oriented in explaining what will be inspected and suggested some recommendations with an explanation. The technician updated what filters has to be replaced and updated all the measured readings. I would recommend to any one who wants to HVAC maintenance.

We are extremely grateful for the prompt, professional, and expert repairs that James A. Wheat & Sons performed on our leaking natural gas lines and replacement of our gas water heater. The technician in charge of the extensive work, Cody Schwartz, was outstanding. Not only an expert plumber, Cody also is an exceptional person who is a superb representative for, and reflection on the company. When we contacted the company about the emergency shut-off of our gas due to the leaks, with all the attendant loss of any hot water, no stove, no dryer, they responded immediately and sent Cody to us the next morning to assess the needed repairs. They began the repairs as rapidly as possible and we could not be more pleased with the work. Highly recommended without reservation.

Clifford the Technician for James A Wheat and Sons, Inc arrived promptly. He listened politely and professionally assessed our problem with the broken gas service line due to the tree fall. He noted that he had not previously seen such a gas pipe break and his company could not repair the damage because the pipe was the responsibility of the Gas company. He also noted that the House gas pipe looked fine but that the Gas company may require the House gas pipe be tested once the break is repaired. He later kindly contacted that gas company on our behalf to describe the gas pipe break and to request the GAs company to repair the pipe.repaired. He noted that his company could do the test but recommended that we wait until the gas pipe break is repaired.Clifford is very professional and personable.
