Fairly priced and well staffed, came in by myself before doing the research and found out they have no auto belay systems, but the staff offeres to pair me with a regular instead. I declined and opted for their bouldering courses instead. Great place and I intend to come back when business brings me back.
Went there through a program by my teacher, in my highschool years called Project reach. Was a really great experience learning about indoor rock climbing.
I wish they had some auto-belays, but a fantastic setup and a beautiful layout of different grades. I personally love the Statue of Liberty.
The staff is awesome! The vibe is really nice - this is a very social and laid back gym. The routes are better here IMO than in other gyms (there arent a million holds on every route). This gym is also quite a bit cleaner than most other climbing gyms Ive been to.
Very friendly (and sometimes quirky!) staff. Good pricing for membership and fun route setting. Im a proponent of stiffer gym grading, but either way the quality of the routes are excellent. The weightlifting area is nice, and Im looking forward to trying some yoga classes while I recover from an injury. The new bouldering area is also on point. I come to rope up, but end up warming up on the boulders for so long its hard to climb after
Climbing, bouldering, top-rope, lead climbing, indoor gym, lessons, you get the drift. Only down side is the price but they have student discounts. Great place!
Been climbing here for about 6 months now. Everyone is so friendly. The routes change up about every few weeks or so. Great way to get a workout in that is actually fun. They offer so many classes throughout the week. Love it here!
Awesome and amazing. So much here to do. If you dont know what you are doing then the staff are right there to walk you through it.Facility is spotless. The rates are very affordable and if you dont want to join the day pass isnt going to break the bank. Equipment rental is there if you need a surprisingly cheap price and its in great shape. If you are looking to buy they also have you covered with comparable prices. If you havent tried this place out you need to give her a shot.
This is my home gym, and I have been a member for just about five years now. I LOVE THIS PLACE.I climb regularly, am a part of their running club, have attended several of their yoga classes, and attended many of their extra events like monthly nutrition clinics, holiday parties, and climbing competitions.Whether you want to boulder, top rope, lead climb, take a fitness class, or just use their workout equipment, this gym has it all. Theres no reason to have any other gym membership, even though at first blush you may think the membership cost is a little high. Trust me, its worth it.The staff is always very friendly and know you by name. They maintain a safe environment for everyone, and even choose to host adaptive sports programs once a month in Spring and Fall. All the other members at the gym are friendly - its a climbing thing - so the environment is super chill. I love bringing friends here for the first time because everyone ends up falling in love with this gym just as I have.
Really cool gym to stop at on road trips to Yosemite or between SF and la. One of touchstones newer gyms and well work a visit
It is an amazing place. The staff are super friendly. I go there every chance I get. I would recommend this to anyone, any age, anytime.
All vary nice and good people, nobody is rude and inconsiderate. All the people that go here are amazing, as well as all the staff that are fun to talk to and be around.
So I went here for a class field trip thing I had to do and Im so happy that I went. I had a blast, I am a complete newbie to climbing so I was worried that I wouldnt be able to get to the top of anything, but I ended up climbing 4 different routes completely. They taught us all the important safety stuff so nobody ends up dead, and here I am, not dead, writing a review three days later. My only complaint is that is has been three days already and Im still sore! But do I want to go back? You betcha.
Great facilities, friendly staff. I always have a good experience coming here.
Routes were awesome. Props to the route setters. 7/8/18. And awesome DJ for playing EDM music!EDIT: I left my blue hydroflask with a red Supreme sticker. I called them the next day and they are working on the logistics to bring back my bottle. AWESOME STAFF!
Metalmark has such an inviting and friendly environment; it always feels so positive here. The routes are always fun and challenging. It also very clean and the staff is always helpful. Overall its the best fitness experience Ive ever had and I look forward to coming here 3-5 times a week.
Great gym! Lots of variety in the routes, plenty of overhang, and a lot of variety in the style of setting. Shoutout to Phil for being super cool and helpful! We’ll be back!
This place is great, wonderful atmosphere, no judgy feeling from other members. I’m pretty new to this, and I’ve never had any negative feelings from anyone while trying/failing a new route.
Great climbing community here and really creative setters. If you are a climber and you are in the area, check it out. No snobbery here.
Great service!! Made for a awesome climbing experience, kids enjoyed the atmosphere and the walls are at the perfect height!! Will definitely be going back!
New member. I love the atmosphere. The staff are cool and helpful. There is much more than climbing here.

Truly this is an amazing gym and out of this world staff.
Ive been a member going three days a week for 18 months now, and MetalMark has essentially become a second home to me. The gym is spacious and well kept, the staff are excellent, and theres so many cool perks make the pricey initiation and monthly membership fees worth every dollar. Now before you consider joining, its handy to know that youre in for quite a few startup fees. First off, theres a $100 initiation fee for new members, but if you come with the person that referred you, or if youre a student, that fee is cut in half, so its not way too bad. Then theres the first month payment for your membership, which is $55/mo. normally, and $45/mo. if youre a student. Those are the basic startup costs, and then for gear, its up to you to see if youd rather buy or rent. Renting is only about five dollars per visit if you rent both shoes and a harness, though Id recommend buying, since itll save you a lot if youre consistent with your climbing. Now the main drawback to buying your gear at the gym is the fact that they dont have a return policy, which is kindve lame, so Id recommend going to REI in RiverPark (quite a few of the staff at REI happen to be rock climbers who are also members of MetalMark, so theres a major plus). Buying your gear will cost anywhere between $60-$150 for shoes (depending on what kindve shoes you get), around $80 for the harness, and $15-$20 for a chalk bag, plus $2 for a block of chalk (you can just buy your chalk at the gym). Its up to you to decide if all of that is worth the hefty startup investment. To me, it seriously was. I just bought all of my gear right when I started up and it was worth every penny. The members here are the most friendly people youll find in the city of Fresno who are so encouraging and will help you to achieve your fitness goals and improve your climbing technique, the staff are very knowledgeable, they have all kinds of classes that are free for members such as yoga classes, fitness classes, climbing classes, 6am climbing boot camp (if 6am and boot camp are your jam), the climbing workout and climbing equipment are well maintained, and I just need to mention one more time, the members of this gym are seriously the best people you will find in the entire city of Fresno. I am not kidding. You will meet all of your new best friends if you come here regularly.I have no idea how to describe it, but this gym has an uncanny ability to create such a friendly and encouraging atmosphere between all kinds of people. Everybody is so laid back, and cool to talk to. You can just walk up to anybody to ask about anything and forge an instant friendship within just a few minutes. You wont find this level of friendliness anywhere else in Fresno.Anyways, I hope this review was helpful. Ive been here for a fairly long time and it has been worth every dollar Ive spent here.
