They do a great job of regular pickup of trash and recyclables. Their services are more economical than their competitors.
Had them for 4 weeks. First two weeks were picked up on time. The second week they didn’t come Monday, after contacting them they said they would come Wednesday. They did not show Wednesday, so i contacted them again and they said they would be there Friday.. it was picked up then. The following Monday they did not come again, i emailed them because i thought maybe since they came Friday they’re going to switch my pick up day. After no response from them, on Thursday i contacted them again to cancel my service. They stated they would cancel but wouldn’t be able to get my trash until the following Tuesday. Leaving it for over a week and a half. Please listen to the reviews and save yourself the unnecessary stress of trying to even get a response form them. Was never offered and explanation or anything from them.
The men doing the trash pickup I dont have any issue with, respect to laborers and qualified drivers.. the customer service women are so bitter and cold though for this company. Fire the old women who hate serving others and hire a young lady whos more inviting and at least sounds like she cares about a paycheck.
I have been with this company for at least 3 years. They are pretty consistent with pickup and their customer service is easy to contact. Only thing I wish is that they go back to offering pickup twice a week. I love supporting local owned businesses so I will always be a customer.
Do not fall on theirs service scam.Shiffler will tell you they will coordinate the cancellation of your other waste service but thats not true. They just mail the form on your behalf and did not follow up. In my case I ended with two bills from two waste services. Then, Shiffler will blame you for not checking cancelation status. This is why Im done with Shiffler and will never ever contract their services again. As a matter of fact Im still waiting from Shiffler to collect the trash container.
I have used them for almost two years as a suggestion from a friend when I moved to the area. I am the only one on my street who uses them. Everyone else uses County Waste (which is 10 dollars cheaper for the same service). Over the past year they have failed to pick up my trash and/or recycling no fewer than 10 times to which I have to call and tell them and then they may or may not send someone to pick it up. Most of the time they wait until the following week to do what they were supposed to do in the first place. At that point, my bins are overflowing and an inconvenience. Paying 10 dollars more to maybe get the same service and probably less is not worth it. When I cancelled, no reimbursement was offered, even though I paid them for a service that I sometimes didn’t even receive.
I had to call four times last week to inform them our trash wasn’t picked up the first week we had service with them. Turns out they didn’t communicate well with each other.I now have to call AGAIN because my trash (for Tuesday) wasn’t picked up. Seeking full refund immediately.
The WORST customer service Ive ever experienced, they would randomly miss pick-up days and not even reschedule, say they came when they didnt and then respond on the phone with not a care or concern. Cancelled and would not recommend to anyone.
I used to use another service until they got expensive, sloppy, and wouldnt pick up any trash that wasnt in their container. Shiffletts left a flyer on my door, so I decided to give them a try. Best decision I ever made! They are fantastic.

This is an AWESOME company. They arrive very early--between 0500 & 0530. They remove everything necessary in a neat and speedy process. They are a quality and professional crew. Reasonably priced. I am tired of this company constantly flouting city ordinance rules on when they can pick up trash. They have been in our neighborhood as early as 3:30 in the morning, I lay here awake at 6 o’clock as they were in my neighborhood at 4:50 this morning. They tout themselves as a “family company “, but what kind of family company wakes up entire neighborhoods at that time in the morning so they can save a few bucks by not hiring another driver and another truck??
They failed to pick up my recycling that was next to my trash can on the 25th of May. I called and asked why. It was missed and we will reach out to the team.The recycling was not picked on the 3rd either. I called again on the 4th and received a response that it will be picked up something between Thursday and Saturday. Upon checking late Sunday evening it has still not been picked up and I know my bill has been paid. So now my recycling piling up beyond my ability to store and I have to deal with it, despite them being paid to pick it up each week.No refund or parital refund has been offered. No explaination as to why it wasnt picked up. At this point I am going to have to do the job on my own I am paying them to do.
They NEVER clean up after themselves. They ALWAYS block our driveway with trash cans and we live on a busy road. Trash cans are lying around like knocked over bowling pins. They dont put the lids back on the cans and they are always coming at different times. I liked it better when we had County Waste.
I am a new home owner and from day one Shiffletts waste skipped my trash pick up. When I called they said they would send someone to pick up and they never did and when I called they said no one said they would pick up and would lie. Completely unreliable, unprofessional and poor quality customer service.
This is one of the WORST trash companies I have ever worked with. I only had them 3 months and had more issues than I did with county waste in 10 years.
Worst service Ive had in 22 years of living in the area. Numerous issues but when weather hit and their trucks couldnt get out of 2 days they had no response plan to gradually pick up customers who were skipped. Instead, they just told us to wait until next scheduled pickup date which meant we had 2 weeks of trash that would pile up before pickup! Nobody expects a company to risk employees or equipment during hazardous weather. But paying customers do expect a company to have a mitigation plan for servicing. Instead, they take the easy way out and make their planning issues the customers problem!
By far the worst service I have ever had with a waste pick up company!! I’ve been a paying customer for about 4-5 weeks now, and it’s been terrible. The second week they didn’t pick up my recycling, the can wasn’t full so I placed it back by my house and filled it before the next cycle came around. I thought that maybe being a new customer I fell through the cracks somehow. The following week they came and got it after I called them. After that they did not pick up my trash for two weeks in a row. I had to call them to get that picked up. Now the very next week my recycling is still sitting out when it was supposed to be picked up yesterday, and I even put my cans out a day early every time.Completely inexcusable and now I will just go with County waste. They may cost a few dollars more, but all of my neighbors have them and their trash is picked up on time every week.
We have this service for trash and recycling. I called when I saw the guy empty both cans in the same truck. When I called, I was told its a divided truck. Thats all fine, but how does the truck know to divide up the garbage AND recycling into separate areas of the truck when the driver emptied BOTH CANS into the same opening! If we were paying for just trash, that would be one thing. We take our time to separate recycling from garbage to help out the environment and apparently our efforts are in vain. I was told someone would call me back and get this straightened out, but no one ever did...big surprise there especially after reading the reviews. Poor customer service.
Been happy with them since we switched over. Price was a little less, the drivers seemed to be more careful in the neighborhood, and best of all they didn’t leave garbage or leak hydraulic fluid all over in front of my house. Overall 5/5
I recently switched from American Disposal to Shiffletts Waste Service . So far Im enjoying on time pick up for trash and recycling . Also, the price for trash/recyclables are cheaper and its easier to get a hold of a repensentive .

The drivers are always super fast and courteous, running to and from the truck while ensuring all the trash is secured in the truck before driving off (County Waste leaves trash up and down the road every pick up day). The driver also makes sure cars can get by when loading the truck and helps direct the traffic to prevent backups. Never had a missed day yet.
Go with the city at least they are consistent and show up every week. The drivers do not show up and make you down as trash not left outside. I called in every other week inquiring about my trash pick-up.
Zero stars is more suitable for this company. Drivers drive recklessly on Eskimo Hill Rd heading to and from the dump. My family and I were almost hit head on by truck number 10. Speed was definitely a factor and the driver knew he was in the wrong. He over corrected into his lane after he crossed the double yellow lines and then slammed on his breaks to where the back end of his truck fishtailed. Completely selfish and inconsiderate of others on the roads and will cause a serious accident if not a fatality. This company needs to take this reckless driving seriously before their drivers kill someone.
Office billing charging inappropriate additional fees when their bank screwed up. Gave them a chance to fix it and they ignored my letters and proof of their mistake. VERY disappointing!

Worthless company. Been with them for not even a month and they have missed pickup twice already. Had Shifflett’s years ago at my own house, I ended up renting between purchasing another house and got stuck with county waste who would make excuses why they skipped my pickups and then I’d spend time arguing with the rude staff. Moved back into my own place again and just signed up to Shifflett’s again. They just have good service, if you ever have an issue which happens in any business, you can call the office and they are on top of it. Their policy on what they can or cannot pickup is clearly stated and simple. Good services.
Im getting more and more disenchanted with Shiffletts. I dont mind the recent rate hike since it was explained, but their communication needs improvement. Not only did I not receive notification of this years rate hike until after the fact, but also I received a late notice even though payment was deducted; I had to call the office to find out what the issue was and was told Id be receiving an e-mail about their error, but I never did receive it--and Ive checked my spam folder. Also, our neighbors were putting out boxes that werent being picked up during the pandemic because they were unaware that Shiffletts wasnt picking these up. As the neighbors noted, an e-mail or a letter should have been sent rather than just publishing a post on Facebook.More importantly, on occasions too frequent and too inconvenient, my recycling or my garbage isnt being picked up or isnt completely emptied.I moved here from a place where the city handled garbage pick-ups, and I really was thrilled at the opportunity to use a small business for our garbage when I moved here a few years back. Ive been disappointed.EDITED TO ADD: Ive reconsidered and switched to County Waste. I have bigger cans for nearly $6 less per month (not a huge difference in dollars, but still about 25%), and I just have to take cans out to or in from the road twice a week rather than four days a week. Also, when I called to cancel Shiffletts, she tried to give me the You have a 30-day contract line. Fortunately, I called well in advance, and my credit card was expiring anyway. She also denied that Shiffletts had posted on Facebook that they werent picking up items outside the can during the pandemic. They posted on Facebook as such at least three times, and on three separate occasions they didnt pick up car-sized stacks of cardboard at the neighbors house on recycling days. She also complained about the increased cost of recycling and how much extra trash is being picked up right now. This is the cost of doing business, and I didnt complain about the cost until the service became inferior.I would not recommend.
Communication with these people are very poor, my trash has not been picked up for 2 weeks.I’ve emailed and called them today, the fact that nothing has been responded to really shows me how serious these people are.I’ve had them for 2 years now and they can’t communicate correctly when it’s needed to be. I will no longer be doing any business with these people.
We typically have very little trash weekly but recently have been doing a home reno project generating a lot more trash. I have been so pleasantly surprised that Shiffletts has been taking care of our pile of construction trash each week. We very much appreciate their hard work!
A garbage company. No seriously, a garbage company! Frequently misses pick ups, along with bulk pick ups that have already been scheduled/paid for. They even had the audacity to charge double for a pick up that they failed to do correctly the first time. Dishonest, lazy, and not worth your time.
Recently switched to them after terrible experience with County Waste. Immediately felt we were dealing with a better company with much better customer service. So far, so good!

I have been a client of Shiffletts Waste Services for a year. I had never had any issues except for today. When I came home the trans can which I left in the ditch on the right hand of the drive was in the middle of my drive way on the left hand side near my mail box. I had people behind and I was not able to stop in the middle of Rock Hill Church Road or had enough space to maneuver around the trash can without hitting it. I have a new car and now I have scratches on the right hand side of my car. When I callled the company to complain the woman said she will make a note for the driver to make sure that the trash can in place back to where it was. No compensation for the damage to my car even though this is the companys fault. If this EVER happen again I am cancelling my services with this company.
Schifflets has great customer service, will price match their competitors prices AND they answer the phone with a live person (no phone tree)!
Worst customer service. They do not pick up all trash the men say the company rushes them with time and they can only take bags no boxes. Some days they don’t show up or they take 2 of 4 bags and leave the rest. Today they took our bags and left the box!! We pay and you can’t take 1 box?!?!

During christmas and new years trash wasnt picked up for three weeks... On the average the trash was missed once just about every three weeks and picked up the following week which left the trash overflowing, at times I needed to go to the dump for service i pay for.. Its not hard to do your job and give trash service as expected.. Also they make policy changes without notifing you. This is the worst service I have ever had..
They are alright, better than county services... but kinda inconsistent on pick up times... well not really a kinda, more like are they coming on trash day today or recycling day tomorrow?
Very unreliable when trying to contact them about holiday pickup. They pick up on time though unlike county waste.
I share the same complaint as many other reviewers. These guys drive way too fast. I have to pull my dogs into someones yard to get off the street so we dont get hit.They are driving this way during elementary school bus pickup. This is a common thread here going back at least ten months. Will it take someone getting seriously hurt to fix the problem?Before you ask, I have called the office with a location.
I live in a neighborhood that they have to drive through to get to new customers and they drive insanely fast. We are a 25mph neighborhood with no sidewalks and lots of kids and people who walk with animals. I have seen them flying by my house at least a dozen times.

Had their service for 2 years...for the most part it was okay. I prefer local family businesses and try to use them for all services. A few missed pick ups but no big deal. Our road is gravel, the trucks drive aggressively/fast in reverse in front of my house. Rutted the road, caused some pot holes. I called once and said something, nothing changed. I canceled my service yesterday, well just take our trash to the dump to avoid the road damage. Ashley asked and then was uninterested in my reason for cancellation (I wasnt going to go into specifics) and let me know they have a 30 day written cancellation policy that my husband and I agreed to so we would be charged for the next month. I was caught unaware, I thought they advertise no contracts. Did we sign one? I asked for a copy of ours but have yet to receive it. She says this policy is on their website and welcome letter. These are not binding agreements, but okay, its a few dollars. Just be aware, if you want to cancel you may have to pay for the next month even if you dont want the service. I dont like confusing policies and hidden fees. The owner and her decided it was very important to uphold this policy and collect my money. I wouldve signed up for their service when we move to a public road as overall it was fine, but with the were right, youre wrong odd defensive attitude from the company, I wont recommend them or use them again.EDIT: After posting my review, I received a copy of our (online unsigned) agreement. It says “1 year term” with no indication of any policies what so ever about after the year or cancelation.

The crew has no respect for peoples property! They destroyed SEVERAL of my nightlights that I had at the end of my sidewalk byrunning them over with my garbage can. Two of the doors on my vehicle was damaged by one of them pulling the garbage can too close to it. I will be seeking leagal aid if the damages are not taken care of!
They cancelled from twice a week to once a week and kept the same price. They constantly knock over the trashcans and leave random bags that we put out to be taken.I have called about these problems, nothing is resolved. They are completely incompetent. We kept them because they were a family business and try to support the community however after finally canceling, we were told our service was intact until the end of the month. I asked if I had to pay the new amount then and there and I was told to wait for the bill in the mail. After arguing with me, yelling and interrupting me (and yes, this is a family business so this was the Shifflets doing so) I was threatened it would go to collections and be seen in court if I refused to pay (which I didnt, I just asked if they would pick up the trash they missed first)Terrible service, unreliable, expensive. I guess there was a reason they went out of business the first time.Update: they picked up their cans today and proceeded to string trash all over the front of my yard AND the street.
I had you guys years ago when I lived in White Oak and loved you then. You have had some changes recently that really dont work well eith your customers. Seems during Covid, you are less likely to work with folks which is pretty sad
These guys drive like maniacs. Driving on the wrong side of the road in neighborhoods, backing down the street rather than turning around in a cul-de-sac. The county school buses turn around here no issues. Called about a year ago to report the driving. Never seemed to get better. Guess the next call is to Spotsylvania County Sheriffs department.
Shifflets trash service flyer and website States they pick up twice a week. After having service with them 3 weeks they notified me they will only be picking up once a week. Also After the storm we recently had we lost power and being unable to open my garage to take the trash out I requested they come on a different unscheduled day. They at first acted as if it would be a problem but then agreed to accommodate. The following day no one came. Now today another issue, My husband leaves at 430am and takes the trash out, we get home this evening (after shifflets is closed, sober cant call) and our trash is sitting at the end of our driveway. So all day the trash has been sitting in the hot sun in front of our house. Needless to say ill be cancelling my services. Just doesnt make sense for trash pick up to require so much communication and inconvenience.
I love Shiffletts, only problem is county waste keeps picking up my trash. Shiflett is gonna stop coming to my house 🤷♂️

Ive never used their services but based on the way they drive through my neighborhood with the kids waiting at the bus stop and walking down the street to go to the bus stop, I will never even consider it.

Inconsistent trash pickup time, some days I have not been picked up… it’s not always efficient to put trash out at night due to critters making a mess. For this reason, I put it out in the morning. The pick up time varies between 5am and 8am. I pay $24/month for 1 95 gall can, no recycling can included. Other service has quoted $18/month for 1 95 gall can and a recycling can. The customer service is terrible, they will just hang up on you if you call to speak about anything at all. Use anyone else but these guys.
