Reservations at 12:00. Waiting on the line at counter (2hrs). After we paid for our Luxury rental we waited in the parking garage for someone to return the car we were waiting for (2hrs). We ended up with a compact car and still billed for a luxury. They did this to families all day. Eventually it led to a mob just taking any car that pulled up. Pay the extra avoid dollar and thrifty. Astonishing they kept taking reservations and booking them with no cars.

I didnt believe what everyone told me/all the reviews but its true:. Below average executive leadership team causing a trickle down effect of carelessness to be spread amongst the entire company/employees.. Phone representatives dont truly understand English/questions.. Hidden charges/fees. Poor customer service/dirty cars not properly maintained to keep operating costs down.. Long wait times, people fighting in line, people being denied of a rental car because of using big name 3rd party services.The list goes on but do yourself a favor, spend more $ and dont ruin your vacation/vibe. Over time this have not company will be shut down as the reviews and word of mouth keep spreading.

Check in was easy, front desk person very funny. I think these reviews are not taking into account that the work force is extremely limited right now. Be realistic. Expect to wait if its a busy time. My experience was wonderful, not perfect, but in these times exceptional.

I am disabled and my husband and I traveled to Florida for a very important medical appointment. We booked a car with Thrifty, only to learn that Thrifty overbooked (which their employees stated was normal policy) and we were left stranded at the airport and missed check in at the hospital. We were told it would be a three hour wait for a car and they refused to give a refund, and were extremely rude when we explained that we needed a car for my appointmentβ€”the employee stated she did not care. I think this is absolutely unacceptable behavior.

Thrifty lost me as a customer. I will never use them again. I went to this location to get my car after my flight has landed… which I had reservations for. The guy in the counter rudely started shouting β€œWe close at 1 am, it is 1:20, you have to be in line before 1 am”… I told him I had a reservation and he kept saying β€œYou have to be in line before 1 am”. There were a lot of people in line during that time but he was turning away everyone who was getting in line. I went to Budget next counter and got my car. I recommend to NOT USE/MAKE RESERVATIONS with Thrifty.

🚨FRAUD ALERT: Be aware of hidden fees after you return the car, this company is fraudulent and charge you for bunch of stuff that you never agreed for. I was charged an extra $430 after returning the car and could never get it back. Also, the employees of this location are very fishy trying to tell you that you cannot go outside of Miami area with their cars even though the car has an unlimited mileage option, another thing that I didn’t like was their cars being super dirty. Avoid this rental company at all costs.

Not worth it!!! Waited over an hour to check in and after that we waited almost two hours to get the rental. Not sure why they take reservations if they dont have enough cars. They obviously dont care about the costumers they only care about making money. We had an over night flight, we were tired, hungry and then had to wait 3 hrs to get our rental car. Terrible experience, will NEVER reserve with this company ever again.

If I could I would give ZERO stars! Disgusting service and the attendant Leonel was so extremely rude. He really hates his job. No one guided us. We picked the wrong car and he made us go back and figure it out ourselves as he said. The SUB had no AC in sunny Miami that’s not going to work and the trunk door didn’t lock so we had to take all our suitcases with us when we went to eat. Gross service!!

My experience has been absolutely horrible. I waived all insurances since I have coverage through my AX AND MY PERSONAL CAR INSURANCE CO. The rep at the desk reassured me the pending insurance charge would fall off when I return the car. Well, I received my final E-Receipt and I was charged for insurance AND 2 hour late fee when I actually returned the car 2 hours EARLIER! They may give you a deal on booking sites but charge you a TON OF UNNECESSARY FEES so that discounted rate is NOT discount at all. I went from $184 total to almost $320!!!

Took them a bit to get the car we wanted! But definitely worth the wait... they pretty much let us pick out what ever car we wanted ! We got a convertible Ford muscle stang!! And we loved it !! The lady at the desk when we came for was so nice! I forgot her name! It was Tuesday may 18th between 730pm and 830pm! Ride in that car with the top down and being in Florida was like a dream to us! So unbelievable!

Terrible expereince - They asked us to drive back from another city and bring back the car! we had to cancel our other flight from another city and drive back 4 hours and give back the car and fly again from the same airport with new tickets, big moeny loss - Worst they dont tell you you have to drive back and bring the car! Pay the extra few dollars and go with another rental car company. We traveled to this location on 8/19 for a funeral. I purchased a car rental through an Expedia package and only added the $10 a day basic collision coverage. We had to wait an hour and a half in line after a long flight to check in and get the car. The guy at the desk asked us if we wanted any add ons. We told him no for every single one he asked. We even told him we only want the $10 a day coverage which we already paid for. We signed and went on our way. Now come to find out thrifty charged us an additional almost $200 of add ons. When we called to dispute the charges we were told we signed for them and they would not refund us. Yes we signed but this was after the guy even confirmed we didnt have any add ons so why would one think to check he was being sneaky and taking advantage of exhausted travelers and tacking on fees we specifically said no to. Do better thrifty and refund fees that were added on in a shady manner!

Do not and I repeat DO NOT use this company. I received my rental filthy, inside and out. Receiving the vehicle in a dark parking garage I did not notice until I was on the road and dropped the top of the convertible unit. Not to mention after dropping the top I had to get out the car in the rain to pull up the back windows because they would not seal properly when I tried to put it back up. With a time schedule to keep I just dealt with it. Big Mistake. When I returned the vehicle I was charged a $400 cleaning fee and accused of smoking in the vehicle. I spoke with multiple individuals to explain the situation and they refused to refund the $400. I will never in life rent from this company again.

My husband and I were on our honeymoon. We were told we could upgrade our car as a gift for around only an extra $10/day and the agent would give us his friends and family discount. It turns out we were charged an extra $575 more than what we originally paid through Priceline for this β€œgift”. Despite this being the fault of the agent that helped us (whose name was Moe), I was told there is absolutely nothing they can do to make it right for the customer.

What a rip......and what a wait !! We were in line for over 1 hour at the Ft Lauderdale airport and there were 2 agents serving the over 30 people in the line. I was so exhausted by the time I got to the counter. There isnt one seat anywhere in sight and my friend wasnt feeling well . People were siting on the floor . It is disgraceful that companies can treat paying customers like that and continue to do business. I got such excellent service from Avis the week before and I stupidly listened to someone who suggested Thrifty instead !!. Never again !!

Our flight was set to land at 1130pm, getting us to thrifty at 12am. Our flight was delayed an hour so we got there at 1am. There was no one to help us. We see a sign that says we are only open 5am to 1230am, sorry for any inconvenience this causes. They were supposed to wait for us. They knew we had a reservation and that our flight was delayed, but they left us to rot. They left us to wait 4 hours until 5am. That is unacceptable. Shame on you thrifty. Shame.

Beware of marked up additionall services. Landed at Fort Lauderdale and at checkout the counter clerk offered sun Pass so we would pay $55.00 to go through all toll roads. Our state has no toll roads so we declined and she said in florida they are all toll roads everywhere you go and youll pay alot more because each time its 10.00 so it could add up to even over 100.00 quickly. We agreed to buy based on that conversation only to find out that we never came across a toll at all during our one week stay. This was like a predator looking for innocent bait... took advantage of our inexperience as tourists on vacation in fort lauderdale. I would not do business here because I felt this was deceptive based on her encouragement to raise fear of toll fees.

We just picked up and rental car today from this location. Their website states they are taking extra precautions for the safety of their customers and employees. Specifically, cleaning out the vehicles. The car we pick up today is absolutely disgusting and was NOT clean prior to us renting it. With COVID and just basic cleanliness all vehicles should be cleaned, but location had failed to do so and this is unacceptable. I will be reaching out to corporate about this as well, because what they’re advertising and the cars they are renting are not consistent with the cleaning guideline that they have stated.

DO NOT EVER RENT WITH THRIFTY.Not only did I experience horrible customer service in person, their phone service was even worse. My wife and I had an emergency and was looking to modify our reservation. We were first quoted a $10 change in modification and when we called back to solidify the change in reservation, we were quoted a $600+ cost for the modification. The first person that we spoke to (Vick ID#3857) was non-empathetic, rude and passive aggressive. To make matters worse when asked to speak with his supervisor (Andrew ID#3850) he indicated that he was not available and would give a call back in 30 mins. This did not happen. The second, third and fourth representatives were continuously confused due to lack of documentation of our situation and repeatedly transferred us to wrong departments including HERTZ RENTAL CAR! Just a display of how inefficient and inconsistent they are at doing their job. We called back again and spoke with a 5th representative(Jerry) who also was of no help. She was not willing to transfer me to a supervisor, did not provide the local phone number for the local branch (after advising that I speak with them directly), and facetiously advised that I speak with the first person who originally misquoted me the modification rate (indicating that I have direct number outside of the customer service number). Thrifty’s customer support is not designed to support or assist the customer. There is no accountability, true help or feasible assistance. All in all to no avail with each phone calls after two hours speaking to multiple useless representatives. So beware, if you’re looking to rent with Thrifty, know that you will be working with shabby, disorganized and incompetent customer service.

Thrifty car rental need to do better with the upkeep of there vehicles. My experience has been bad maintenance with their rentals. My most recent experience( May 7- May 14, 2020), was a 2016 vehicle with the transmission slipping & jerking during the entire rental. I called Thrifty & emailed them. They replied a week after I was home ( back from my vacation & the rental already returned). Unexceptable. The 2nd scenario was a rental from Thrifty in Orlando, Fl ( May 2017) that had major issues with fuel. The rental was a gas guzzler . I had to fuel the car too many times while on that vacation. I will not rent from Thrifty anymore.

Up until my last car rental, I had a very pleasant experience. There is a rental agent named Ed at the Miami Rd. location with a very poor attitude. At the time of my return, the General Manager was very friendly but didnt offer any monetary relief and knew the person that I spoke of. Lets not even get into the $250 hold for MasterCard vs a $100 hold for a Visa and a debit card can only be used when an airplane ticket has been purchased. Then, the airport location is only open Saturdays only. I will probably find another car rental company. I dont like the limitations.

Doesnt matter if you pre-book a car or walk in and book a car if you call the call center to book the car or book the car when you walk in they tried to bamboozle you with little added fees here and there my estimated quote after insurance and all taxes and other fees when I pre-book the car through the call center yesterday they still try to add other fees which brought my total up to over $100 instead of the $60 they quoted me if my husband hadnt been with me and able to help me think because they like to talk over you to confuse you I would have not gotten the quote that I was giving yesterday over the phone so pack your patience try and have a clear head and dont let them talk over you

Avoid this car rental location. Counter help and 2 managers are the nastiest people, unprofessional, dont return phone calls and they insult their customers. Also, charging $10 for every gallon missing from the tank with no exceptions and we are in a curfew in Broward County and there are no gas stations with gas.

Not only did I have to wait in a line for more than 30 minutes, I was also mislead about toll charges. I asked the clerk if I had to go through a toll booth that does not have an attendant how would I be able to make a paymnent and they told me not to worry the toll amounts would be billed to your card. What they do not tell you is that they charge $15 per charge up to 7 toll charges; So my toll amount is 52 cents and thrifty charges me $15.00; another charge is 75 cents and thrifty charged me $15 again. Please be assured I WILL NEVER RENT FROM YOU GUYS AGAIN; and I will discourage all my family and friends to not rent from you. I will put you guys on blast on fb and twitter. It may not accomplish much but I do have more than 200 friends in my list and my husband has 2600. I never had t his problem when I rented from hertz.
