We did the Yellowstone 5 days hike with Elaine, it is one of my most favorite trips, lifetime experience, love everything about that trip, hikes, views, wildlife…hotel is clean and close the the park, meals are great, love Elaine’s lunch picnic too. She puts lots efforts for this, we really appreciate her kindness, consideration and profession.I start to think maybe next time we could do the Grand Canyon hike!
The Coyote Gulch Trip went beyond my expectations. The hiking was diverse, crossing creeks, sand, and some scrambling kept the hike fun. Experiencing the arches and natural bridges in person was the reason I went on this adventure. The added bonus to the hike was out guide Eddie. Eddie instilled confidence from the minute I met him to the final goodbyes. Wonderful experience!
Thank you Wildland for a camping experience beyond our expectations. Having our own island in such a breathtaking lake was very special. We all felt like we had accomplished something by getting our gear there by kayak and helping our guide set up. We worked hard but high quality meals and snacks kept our energy up. Our hikes were shorter than expected due to rain but who can ever find fault in fast flowing streams and waterfalls. The visit with the guide the night before we left was essential to our preparations. We would have totally brought the wrong shoes! We thought all details were well planned. kathy Meehan
A great company to travel with. Casey was our guide and he made these guys look good. Beyond that, Wildland Trekking was easy to work with and totally professional. They addressed all of our individual concerns and were always available for personal customer service. Loved my trip to the Wind River Range and hope to travel with Wildland again.
The Grand Canyon Classic with Wildland Trekking was fantastic. Our guide Beau DeMello was incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and attentive. He told us about the Grand Canyons geology, history of the trails, vegetation, animals, and much more. As a first time backpacker and camper, I appreciated him teaching us basic camping knowledge like how to set up camp and pitch our tents. He also made us delicious meals! The feijoada dish he made was so tasty! He created a fun, welcoming environment for all of the guests. The actual hike was challenging (for me) but so rewarding! The trails were well maintained, and the two campsites we stayed at were so nice and peaceful. The views were absolutely incredible. The entire hike was remarkable but getting to swim in the Colorado River after the hike down on the first day was truly an extraordinary experience! The second evening we hiked to Plateau Point which offered spectacular views of the Canyon and the Colorado River. This trip was absolutely wonderful. I highly recommend Wildland Trekking and Beau.
My daughter and I did the Grand Canyon Classic as a mother daughter trip and this 3-day backpacking adventure was absolutely incredible - and I credit Wildland Trekking and our guide Isaac with making it that way. We chose Wildland because of the amazing reviews on this Trip Advisor site and the reviews held true and in fact, our trip far exceeded our expectations. Every step of the way, from registration to our initial meeting to every detail of our hike, everything was handled in the best possible way. We will definitely travel with Wildland again in the future. This review wouldnt be complete without acknowledging the role that our guide Isaac played in our experience. Isaac wore many hats during our trip - EMT, chef extraordinaire, historian, geologist, coach, photographer, and more. Throughout the entire trip, he handled things with great kindness, professionalism and expertise. We could not have been in better hands.Hats off to Wildland Trekking, Isaac, Dara and the rest of the team. Many thanks for a life changing experience that we will never forget.
Highly recommend this company. Professional, knowledgeable, highly trained and personal guides. We did the snow shoe tour to Emerald Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park. He kept it fun, interesting, brought snacks for a picnic and warm drinks. Definitely would recommend everyone to use this company for your guided tour needs!
Went on a 5 day backpacking trip to Wyoming. The guide was fantastic. Well prepared, extremely knowledgeable, incredibly encouraging and funny to boot. I felt safe at all times during the trip. The scenery was spectacular and the laughs were just as enjoyable. Highly recommend this crew and this business. I will definitely be making another trip with them.
Ive taken two trips with Wildland Trekking, with fantastic experiences on both. It starts on their website; easy to navigate, good descriptions of the trips. Reservation system is very user friendly; great customer service. I had neither the time nor the inclination to get permits and figure out trails in the Grand Canyon or at Yosemite...they handle everything, permits, gear, food. It was wonderful. Both guides were extremely knowledgeable about the parks; our guide at Yosemite took us to some of the lesser traveled trails, which we loved! I would highly recommend WT!!
I had an absolutely fantastic time on my hike with Wildland. The route was expertly chosen and was incredibly beautiful. Most importantly, I cant say enough good things about our amazing guide Brittney. Ive been on backpacking trips in Africa, South America, Europe, and across the US - but Brittney was the best guide Ive ever had. Shes funny, interesting, and highly knowledgeable about the terrain and flora/fauna. The food that she made for the trip was the best food Ive ever had while backpacking, including some recipes Ill make at home! Furthermore, she always maintained great group cohesion and safety was clearly her #1 priority, which put us all at ease especially given the wildfire situation. Shes clearly and expert backpacker and I learned a lot of useful backpacking tips and tricks as well. Just a truly outstanding guide and outstanding human in every way.
My son and I recently completed the Yosemite Classic Summits hike with WT. The was one of the best hiking experiences we have ever had. Our guide, Brittney, was amazing and I would strongly recommend her as well as Wildland Trekking. They take care of planning the trip, all of the permits, as well as meal planning and preparation. We only needed to show up with very few gear items and of course be prepared to do some awesome hiking. The attention to detail and the level of care for the hiking clients is amazing. We made some amazing memories that we will have forever. Definitely worth the reasonable cost for what you get. Stop thinking about it and just go!!
My friends and I signed up for Utah Inn-Based Tour of Zion, Bryce and Escalante ... essentially day hikes but staying in inns, rather than camping. When pandemic hit, they went out of their way to accommodate us as a private group and it worked out extremely well. Having all the details of getting into the parks, ensuring we were properly outfitted, etc., allowed us to relax and enjoy the natural beauty even more than we were expecting! Loved every minute! Must say a few complimentary words about Wally, our leader/guide. He was amazing and took exceptional care to ensure we were hiking within our abilities and still able to see all the unbelievable sites. He also was thoughtful about the places we dined (we ate outside to properly social distance). And watching him prepare our lunches during our hikes added to our enjoyment! Hes a treasure and knowledgeable about the locations where he takes people!
The Grand Canyon trip was awe inspiring from the scenery and was made a great experience by the professionals at Wildland trekking. The staff was very accommodating before hand and our guide, Julie, was the best. The hike was a good challenge for my wife and I and Julie was always encouraging, positive and supportive and helped us through challenges. We had to reschedule due to COVID and the Wildland staff helped us make sure we got a great trip that met our skill level and experience.Definitely Worth it.
Last week my friends and I completed the Bechler River Traverse backpacking trek in Yellowstone. From start to finish, over a five-day period, our guide, Chris, showed his amazing organizational, leadership, and social skills. He fluently answered our questions about Yellowstone, and, man, could he cook. I eagerly look forward to my next Wildland adventure.
My husband and I booked a guide (Tolman) and 2 porters (Josh and Jason) to help us navigate our Grand Canyon rim to rim hike. We had the BEST experience. Tolman timed the hike so we could do it mostly in the shade and kept a pace that suited us. His knowledge of the streams and swimming holes was vital as we were hiking in the August heat!!Tolman was an amazing cook carefully planning meals to meet my celiac and dairy free diet! Josh and Jason made sure to keep our packs light!!!Having 3 knowledgeable guides meant we saw the canyon through expert eyes! Josh even had info on the geology of the area for me to read😁Most importantly all 3 of them ensured we were able to successfully complete a bucket list trip safely- finishing with memories that will be cherished always. Book with Wildlandtrekking and ask for these guys!!
I had really high expectations for this hike, and it totally exceeded every one. Our guide, Amanda, was amazing. She was encouraging and helpful, super professional and competent (we always felt that she put safety first, even as we were challenged by terrain, etc.). The menu/meals that Wildland provides and she cooked were delicious. She also knew a lot about the flora and fauna (bonus!). I was also very impressed with the communication, responsiveness and attention to detail Wildland showed. They went over and above to accommodate. While we were out hiking, we came across a ranger who made it a point to say that they appreciated Wildlands integrity and upholding the Leave No Trace ethics. No hesitation recommending Wildland Trekking.
Guides were friendly, well-informed and really added to our experience. And they (gently) encouraged us to challenge ourselves a bit.
5-day backpacking, Wyoming: Beautiful country and awesome people made my backpacking trip a wonderful experience. Such amazing guides! These folks are utterly professional, highly knowledgeable, and super friendly salt-of-the-earth types. Just all around great leaders and nice people. Behind the scenes, the company is very well organized; great gear; thoughtful and skilled management... Superlatives all around!
Great company with great guides, in my case----Moshe. Professional and knowledgeable and provided first class equipment. I was not an experienced backpacker, but they provided the equipment and guidance to make it an excellent experience. I slept so well, I asked Moshe if I could buy the tent, sleeping bag and pad so I could set up in my home bedroom! I took the Grand Canyon rim to rim. Challenging and beautiful. What a feeling of accomplishment when you finish! Highly recommend! Also, dont be intimidated in travelling alone. I was inserted with a group of 4 other hikers, and loved the experience in getting to know them.
I noticed that Wildland Trekking has a solid 5 star rating and it is totally deserving of it. We did a 4-day Sedona/Grand Canyon hiking trip and from start to finish it was worth every cent we paid. Doug, our guide, could not have been any better. He was knowledgeable about everything from the local flora to the history of the area. He had a singular talent in how to read our group and planned each days hike/activity accordingly. As we are all in our 50s, this was greatly appreciated. His love of the area and hiking truly shined through and it just made our trip that much better.Overall, Wildland was easy to work with and they provided all the information that we needed to prepare for our trip. We are already looking at hikes/trips for the next couple of years with Wildland!
Steven’s passion and knowledge during our trip was spectacular. He was attentive, gave us our space when needed and engaged all of us with his vast knowledge of the Grand Canyon. His culinary skills were a treat for each meal and we always looked forward to the next meal. Steven is a top notch guide and we hope to cross paths again in the future!
We did the Zion in a Day tour and it was awesome! Carlos was our guide and he planned a great day. He thought through the day, arranging for us to hike early and to be in the best locations according to crowds and temperatures. We had worked up an appetite and he provided us with a satisfying lunch. He was very knowledgeable and personable! He also made recommendations for things to do after our tour. Overall a great experience.
Recently completed a RMNP day hike. Our guide Hayley T was truly phenomenal. She was full of knowledge and experience and led us on a great adventure up a waterfall to the Lake of Glass. She quickly customized our hike based on our level of experience. We were celebrating my boyfriend’s birthday and I truly appreciate her thoughtfulness as well bringing him cupcakes which we ate overlooking the amazing lake we hiked to. I would definitely take a tour with WT and Hayley again.
If you want a once in a lifetime adventure, where everything is handled for you and incredibly easy to enjoy…look no further. We had a fantastic Grand Canyon tour and cannot believe how well wildland trekking operated everything. Many thanks (thanks Doug) and will book again!
Wildland did an amazing job from start to finish. We were a bit unsure what to expect when we started looking into doing a trip like this and were so grateful for their amazing team. We called to get an idea of what trip might be best for us after narrowing down our options online and landed on the Hermit Loop hike at the Grand Canyon. We received a trip pack walking us through everything from items to bring, what to expect on the hike, and how to train. When we arrived in Flagstaff for our pre-hike meet, we met Ron (our guide). Ron walked us through the hike path, reviewed dos and donts on the trail, and gave us our packs. The hike was amazing, the campsites were fun, and the food was delicious. Definitely be prepared for a big day getting out of the canyon though! We cannot wait to do our next trip with Wildland and didnt even make it home before we had started looking at dates and locations!
Good quality and a Professional team are the most important aspects of a trip.Had no idea what to expect from this trip and did not do any research beforehand...like to be surprised. It was awesome, difficult, surprising, fun, educational (Lamas) and the guides (girl power!) were highly professional. It was a vacation I needed to not see to many people.I must admit the first day of hiking brought me to my knees despite the sweet look in my lamas eyes. There were not always trails but we went from cairn to cairn and the girls knew exactly where to go despite the fact there were more than one cairn. Nature was unbelievable, temperatures perfect (even at freezing temp at night). But my lama Quincy...I fell in love with as he was gently pushing me down to get faster to a meadow of aspen trees. lol. Food was plentiful and good, breakfast, lunch and dinner and desserts. Yup..an awesome trip thanks to Tracy and Samantha.
Wildland Trekking is a full service trekking company. They provided all the information necessary to prepare us well for an amazing backpacking experience in the Grand Canyon. Our guide Ron was exceptional. He was fun, informative, and kept us well fed and safe for our trip into the Grand Canyon! There were so many firsts for us and we felt incredibly safe and well-informed from start to finish. If Ron is your guide, just listen to him - from what to bring (including the bandana) to taking the frozen gatorade, to taking a dip in the Bright Angel Creek in all of your hiking clothes. His meals were delicious and perfect for refueling us. He taught us so much about the canyon, its wildlife, and history. Ron really maximized the experience by ensuring we tried the lemonade at Phantom Ranch, stuck our toes in the frigid waters of the Colorado, hiked to Plateau Point at sunset, hunted for scorpions, and played campsite games. Thank you for quelling our fears and making it a safe, fun, and informative trip of a lifetime!
We did a day hike in Bryce Canyon with Carlos Lopez. He is an amazing person and a wonderful guide. Was very knowledgeable and kept us engaged with valuable information throughout the hike. Was very supportive and encouraging during the strenuous parts of the hike. I think this is the best trail to do in Bryce in terms of views and solitude.
Highly recommend Wildland Trekking for your next outdoor adventure! From booking the trip to hitting the trails, working with this company was easy and a pleasure. Food was top notch, which was a great bonus on a camping trip. Guide was extremely knowledgeable, organized, friendly and mindful about health and safety. All this plus soaking up natures majesty in the West. I cant wait to travel with Wildland again.
I had an awesome experience with Wildland Trekking’s Rim to Rim hike in the Grand Canyon. From the initial application through the hike itself, all of the staff were helpful with information or questions. I loved the itinerary of the hike, and the side trip to Ribbon Falls was beautiful! Doing a hike with a guide gave me helpful guidance, lots of details about the canyon, and enabled extra experiences that I would not have had without a guide. Also, it was a pleasure having delicious meals prepared for us. I would highly recommend WT.
First time backpacking and I’m so happy I used Wildland Trekking! Booking was easy, customer service representatives were friendly and helpful, and they have hundreds of different trips to choose from with detailed itineraries. Our guide, Drew W was professional, knowledgeable, a fantastic cook, and made it such a great first experience. Can’t wait to do another trip!
I was thoroughly impressed with Brittneys experience and knowledge. I had a great time on the High Sierra Loop. Not only did I learn a lot but ate amazing food along the way. I cant wait to do another Wildland trip and will definitely ask for Brittney again.
Backpacking trips, great company, we have been on several trips. We will continue to use them. Their gear is top notch and clean. You dont have to spend big money on the pricey stuff like tents, cooking supplies, and sleeping pads and bags. You actually save money by using them in some ways. They have a cleaning process that sterilizes their gear. I never thought I would use a guide company sleeping bag, but have several times now because they are clean and like new. The guides are top notch, practical reasonable people. The locations are all incredible. The booking process is easy. The food on the trips is excellent and they accommodate mixed diets, One of my group is vegetarian and it always works out. I cant wait for my next Wildland trip!
I hiked the Paria Canyon with a small private group this past June (2021). It was my first hiking/campaign trip and I am glad I used Wildland. It was a great experience. They provided me with all the major gear I needed such as tent, pack, poles and sleeping bag all of our meals were prepared and planned out in advance. Our tour guide, Dakota, was professional, polite and very experienced. He was very knowledgeable about the canyon’s history and geology. Every meal was delicious and he never led us down a bad path. We navigated through the canyon in good time, stopping for side hikes and photo ops along the way. It was an amazing trip and a wonderful experience. The pack was heavy, the terrain was tough and the weather was hot. I would highly suggest you show up in good shape on the back end of some training especially for level 4 hikes.
Our hiking week with Ruthie was memorable and so much fun. My first time to experience Bryce, Zion and the Grand Canyon could not have been better. Our leader Ruthie is an organic farmer, a very good cook and a very effective leader. Our 6 days were full of rigorous hikes, lots of info and stories, and fun times together. I treasure my photos and memories of a very special week! Thank you, Ruthie, Laura, Sherry, Bryan, Meagan and Clay.
My friend and I used Wildland Trekking for our 2021 Grand Canyon Rim-to-Rim tour. Everything was fantastic, from the equipment provided, the meals prepared, and especially the guide (Michael). Michael had just completed at 63-day/650 mile journey through the Canyon. He was recognized by other guides as one of the foremost authorities on the Canyon and its history. Fantastic tour!
Just got back from our trip and I couldnt be any happier with the experience. The trails were beautiful and offered just the right level of challenge. The guides were smart, fun and bent over backwards to meet our every need. I would highly recommend the Mt Sterling Appalachian Loop and Wildland Trekking.
Death Valley Tour - This was my first time doing a tour like this and I was also a solo traveler. Going with this company set the standard for me. Traci (our guide) and Sam (new hire) were excellent. The reviews about the food are not kidding. Im a big dude and thought Id come back a few pounds lighter, if anything I probably gained couple pounds. We had a small older group, ranged from early 40s to early 60s on our trip. Everyone was pretty cool and we laughed pretty hard every day. never expected the terrain to vary so wildly at Death Valley, we got to see a new environment every day. For anyone worried that they wont be able to keep up or dont know about camping, the guides set everything up for you and the pace was kept up by what the group could do. We completed all the hikes but they said if we werent able to, we could turn back at any point.Overall my only regret is not doing it sooner. Im looking into other trips with Wildland and hopefully will get to take my family with me in the future. Highly recommended for anyone looking to try out guided trekking tours.
My 3day trek in Yosemite was amazing. Wildland was great leading up to the trek and answered all my questions. My guide, Carm, was absolutely awesome! She cooked great meals, was always checking in about how we were doing, and making sure we had everything we needed. It was an amazing trip and I will 100% take more with Wildland treks.
We took a private guided hike in Bryce Canyon National Park using Wildland Trekking. The hike was in February, but our guide brought everything we needed for a safe and amazing hike. She was not only extremely knowledgeable about the trails but also provided interesting details about the hoodoos and the history of the park itself. She tailored the hike to our abilities and interests...as we took lots of amazing photographs and enjoyed the unique plant life. It was the most amazing experience, and we will absolutely use their services again. VERY highly recommend!!!
Unforgettable experience! Our amazing guides Samantha, Jordan, and Montana went above and beyond to make our trip memorable. They were so welcoming and fun, and kept us safe during the hikes. All three were very knowledgeable about the terrain and taught us the different ways we can appreciate and protect nature. They really accommodated to the group’s needs/preferences, ie dietary etc. I still can’t get over how amazing the food was. The creative dishes made by the guides were delicious, healthy and generously portioned to keep us fueled for all the beautiful trekking we did each day. Easy booking process, and super quick to respond to emails and questions. As a first time camper, I’m forever thankful for this company for making this experience so incredible.
My wife and I did a day hike with Wildland on January 26th, 2020. Our guide, Kyle Felts was the consummate professional. His knowledge of the environment, nature, and the history of the Great Smoky National Park made for a fantastic day. On a day where the temperature was at or below 30 degrees, the hot lunch was very much appreciated! Thanks Kyle!!We are already planning on an overnight hiking with Wildland!
The Rocky Mountain National Park Base Camp Tour was a fantastic experience, largely because of the expertise of our groups leader. Highly recommended.
Great experience all around. From setting up our deposit to customer service when had questions regarding our trek or payment options. Had everything set up for our trek in Patagonia and so easy once we arrived. Our guide was excellent. Highly recommend Ann if trekking in Torres Del Paine. Wildland Trekking is my go to company when I want an adventure.
Did an inn based hiking tour in the Rocky Mountains with Wildland Trekking and it did not disappoint. Our accommodations were beyond comfortable, the meals were great, and the views were just amazing. Well worth it for sure, we cant wait for our next adventure!
Just finished a great hike with Wildland Trekking. Had a fabulous time on a llama hike in the Wind River Mountains of WY. Guides, llamas, food, equipment and quality of the trip were great. Loved it.
I have utilized Wildland Hiking for two trips. They are the best in the business. The guides are professional, caring, and terrific people. My family loves these trips.
I went on a mini- kayak/ camping/ hiking trip to the Smokies in S. Carolina. I had delayed and scaled back my trip to Yellowstone due to the Vid. It was a little me-time adventure/ check out from reality away from all the distractions that bring me down or tear me in different directions in my real life. I couldnt have asked for a more stress free grounding and centering time that cleared my head. The guide was awesome- taking care of the details as well as the safety concerns. I had a fantastic time and really feel the stress free environment in nature cleansed my soul. I will absolutely return on another trip with Wildland Trekking!
I had a fantastic, totally positive experience on a Wildland Utah backpacking trip in March 2021. Boulder Mail Trail. Scott and Noah were great guides: friendly, knowledgeable and fun. Everything with Wildland was perfect - communication, planning, hiking....cant wait to do another trip with them in the future. Was my first time to southern UT but definitely wont be my last!
My family and I had a great experience hiking the South Kaibab Trail with Jeff. He communicated several times in advance to make sure we were ready to go and well prepared. He was on time. He was an excellent guide. Very knowledgeable about the Grand Canyon, its history, physical attributes, answered every question we had. But he didnt overwhelm us with too much information. It was just the right amount for two adults and two teenagers. And the hike itself was our pace and our distance. He never had it be about him but always about what we wanted to do and what our kids felt comfortable doing. He also prepared a terrific lunch. Jeff is a really nice guy, energetic, friendly, very knowledgeable, safety-first --- everything you would want in a guide for a terrific Grand Canyon experience. Well worth the investment of time and money and Id recommend him to anyone.
We had an amazing 4 day trip in the canyon. Wildland Trekking was super easy to work with and we will definitely use them in the future. Our guide Moshe was very friendly, funny, experienced and knowledgeable!
Amazing company will make your trip super memorable. They will customize your trip, just ask them! The guides are so wonderful. They are helpful and teach you all about the local area. Bob Clark is an amazing guide! Ask for him! Very well organized, will be doing another trip with them next fall! I went in the Boulder Mail Trail Backpacking trip, it was a fantastic experience.
We hiked in Torres del Paine in early March 2020. There were four of us. One person had an injury early which slowed the hiking pace. Anna was patient but also helped to push us all to reach the amazing places on the trails we had traveled so far to see. She had near encyclopedic knowledge of the areas flora and fauna and gave us a college level course on the geology and cultural landscape. Everything was organized and clean. The food was great. Excellent trip!
When I was young we used to camp and hike for vacations. I have always appreciated being outdoors but unfortunately work and obligations sometimes prevent us from enjoying these simple things in life. I recently decided to get back into hiking and experiencing the things that I have been missing as an adult. After researching I chose to use The Wildland Trekking Company for my first hike. In hind sight it was an excellent choice. Other than worrying about being in good enough shape for the hikes, everything else was taken care of by TWTC. Having a company provide all the important gear, food, and manage the trip allowed me to simple enjoy the views and all that mother nature had to provide. Our guides, Madison & Hayley were very knowledgeable and truly made the trip a fun experience. I can’t say enough about how great these two ladies were. Professional, gracious, and great cooks to boot! Other than an elephant and a tiger, I believe we saw the entire animal kingdom on our trip. It was like going to the zoo for the very first time. Only there were no bars between us and the animals. It was incredible. For anyone apprehensive about planning a camping and hiking trip for several days, I highly recommend this company. You will not be disappointed. Enjoy the great outdoors people!!
I just finished a base camp trip in the Colorado Rockies with the most incredible guide, Hayley Turner. I chose the base-camp because although I am an avid hiker, I didnt want the weight of a 30 or so backpack. I was in heaven the entire trip. From the flawlessly set-up camp and cozy tent to the Michelin star cooking. I was inspired to climb to the summit of 13,000 feet and each day was exhilarating. I have to say that my guide, Hayley, was inspiring, funny, talented, full of endless knowledge and energy. She could sense without asking, each of the hikers limits and moods. Genius. I am hooked forever on Wildland Trekking. Oh, and the equipment they provided was pristine.
I went on the winter rim to rim to rim and my experience was incredible! To start, Wildland was incredibly flexible with our trip, we had to postpone at least 3 years due to work conflicts. Once we got dates we could go, Wildland was extremely helpful with answering questions promptly and thoroughly. Their customer service was wonderful. The itinerary and training program they provided was great, it helped me succeed with achieving my goal of hiking the whole trip from rim to rim to rim. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and fun to take a trip with for 6 days. I loved everything about this trip and will use Wildland again for any other guided trips I go on. Thank you so much Wildland!
We recently did the Ported Snow Creek trip with Wildland Trekking in Yosemite. Our guide Wes knowledge and thoughtfulness made the trip much more rewarding than we could have imagined. He consistently went beyond his duties to make sure we were enjoying ourselves and really experiencing the heart of Yosemite. Thanks to Wes and Wildland Trekking, my daughter and I will remember our days in Yosemite for the rest of our lives!
Needless to say it was an outstanding experience.. The rim to rim hike is breathtaking, its a 4 days immersion in nature and silence, surrounded by one of the most iconic American sceneries. Our tour guide, Kevin, has been very professional and possibly beyond his duties he indeed took a genuine satisfaction in teaching us 5 about the history of the place and other interesting things along the way. Besides hes a tremendously resourceful cook. Bring it on Kevin, you added to our experience that extra value, thank you!
We had a wonderful backpacking hiking experience in the backcountry of Yellowstone National Park. Our guide made safety his top priority, but he was also an amazing cook and a knowledgable naturalist. Arranging the trip was easy because of easy access to the Wildland website and to helpful agents by phone. Highly recommended.
Wildland Trekking provided us with an amazing adventure on the Boulder Mail Trail in Escalante National Monument! They were professional from the booking to the end of the trip. The guides were amazing and knowledgeable and the food was outstanding! The backpack hiking was challenging and pushed us outside our comfort zone, but the guides helped to provide guidance, food, knowledge, and encouragement. We saw some amazing scenery and the guides made sure we had a great experience.
While I have yet to complete a backpacking trip with Wildland Trekking, my experience with this company has been excellent. I originally booked the Sahale Glacier backpacking trip in the North Cascades for August 2020. Because Covid affected the group shuttles, I rebooked for for August 2021, and that process was smooth. In July I found out that we had to be rerouted to Thunder Creek/Fourth of July Pass because the trailhead for our original trip was closed due to flooding. I finally started my trip on August 2, 2021, but due to high smoke levels, our group was pulled after one night. While I was bummed that the trip was cut short, I appreciated that the company put our safety first. The one night of the trip was great! Our guide, Daniel, was very knowledgeable, had a deep respect for nature, and was one of the kindest people Ive met. The gear that was provided was high-quality, well-known brands. The meals were delicious and definitely a step up from the simple dehydrated backing meals I was expecting. Wildland paid for our hotel back in Seattle after the rest of our trip was canceled, and gave us a full credit for the amount we paid towards a future trip. Everyone I have been in contact with at Wildland has been extremely professional and friendly. Im looking forward to booking another trip soon, and fingers crossed it works out this time!
😇🐄!!! A most extraordinary guide company! I did Yellowstone and Grand Canyon with Wildland and will be using them for a trip through Death Valley in March. From A-Z, Wildland has got it covered. Everyone I speak with in the office is fantastic- knowledgeable and friendly. All the guides I have been with have been top notch. They not only know the area we hike, they can cook up quite a camp meal! Plus... ALL GEAR IS INCLUDED IN THE PRICE. All you have to do is pack your clothes and hiking boots and get yourself a plane to the destination. Let them worry about all the details. You enjoy the scenery.
This trip was a true outdoor lover’s vacation. Our guide’s expertise ensured everyone’s success. We all came away appreciating not only the amazing views, but the small treasures along the way and ourselves.
The guided three-day hiking trip with Wildland Trekking was an amazing experience. The company cant necessarily take credit for our excellent group or the perfect weather, but the entire agenda, packing guide, and guide were all done extremely well. I was able to focus on enjoying the Grand Canyon without having to plan a single detail after our guide picked us up. The meals were excellent, the timing was planned but with flexibility that adapted to our groups desires, and Brian was a seemingly limitless source of fun facts at every turn. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone!
The trip was excellent. Wildland Trekking Company did everything in a very professional way. Communication was great all along the way, our guide was fantastic and really worked to make sure our needs are being met. The itinerary was spot on and the equipment was great. Our guide also let us know that the company treats its guides and other staff extremely fairly and cares deeply about giving back to the community, which rounds things out nicely.I would definitely recommend this company for others who are looking for a hassle free trip where all the logistics is being taken care of for you.
I joined a Wildland Trekking backpacking Boulder Mail Trail trip (5 days) in March of 2021. What a great adventure! There were 5 customers on the trip and 2 guides. Our guides, James and Justin were kind, knowledgeable and fun - great cooks too! They made sure that everyone felt safe and comfortable for the duration of the trip. I enjoyed getting to know my fellow trekkers. We entered the wilderness as strangers and emerged 5 days later as friends. The Boulder Mail trail runs through the Escalante Grand Staircase area of Southern Utah. The scenery is stunning and varied. 1/2 of the trip was mountain hiking, 1/2 was river gorge hiking (in the water a fair amount of the time). We all were pushed to overcome fears and did so! What an experience - I feel lucky to have been a part of this group.
First time ever doing this!! Had a blast, the scenery was amazing, the guides took their time, and most importantly the guides looked out for everyones safety. Definitely a winner and must do on anyones bucket list. A must have is a small to medium sized camping pillow, otherwise just about all gear is provided.
I just completed the Everest Basecamp trip. It was an amazing experience. The Wildland and Nepali guides were fantastic. I was blown away by their knowledge about the region, commitment to the needs of individuals and the group. The trek is incredibly hard but equally rewarding. The friendships created within the group (almost all strangers) will last a lifetime. Wildland ensured we were immersed in the culture right from the pick up at the airport in Kathmandu and all the way through the trip. Always safe, many laughs and you get to see incredible mountains, people and yaks!
GREAT company! We did the Grand Canyon Lodge Based Tour in October 2019 and it was fabulous! They paid attention to every detail and both Doug and Tamara who were our guides were very knowledgeable and shared their passion for the Grand Canyon. They also were very accommodating, fed us great food and made sure we had the best time. We will definitely book more trips with this company!
Wildland and our guide, Zach, exceeded our expectations in every way! Some of us were in our 50s and 60s and it was our first hike down into the Grand Canyon. Zach had our safety and comfort as his number one concern. He adjusted our packs properly, made sure we knew how to use our hiking poles to save our knees, stopped as needed for nourishment and shade and sprayed us with his misting bottle when we got overheated. He even packed a red and white checked tablecloth and lunch fixings in a cooler! He had moleskin for our hotspots and managed one hikers sprained ankle in the best possible way so they could enjoy the entire 3 days in the Canyon without pain. He shared about the geology of the rock layers as we descended the Bright Angel Trail, told us about the plants and creatures that inhabit the Canyon and mentioned some interesting human history about the area. If you have been wanting to hike to the bottom of the Grand Canyon but are not sure if you want to forge out on your own, Wildland is a top notch choice!
My group had an awesome trip with Wildland and our guides, Jeff and Fletcher. We felt very well prepared for the trip based on all the pre-trip information and packing guidelines. The food was plentiful and delicious. Our guides were professional, knowledgable and fun. They did a terrific job of giving us information and managing our expectations for what was to come. We didnt even consider doing the trip on our own, and Im glad we didnt. Most in our group dont do trips of this nature and our experience definitely wouldnt have been as complete and fulfilling had tried doing it on our own. We carried our own pack and its a physically challenging hike, so dont take preparing for the trip lightly.
As a solo hiker, I booked the Best of Utah Basecamp trip in October 2018. This was one of the 6 days of my life. This trip included Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park and Escalante National Monument. My guide was Traci--she was so knowledgeable, positive, and accommodating (especially when preparing meals since I am vegan). The booking process was easy and seamless. I love how the company provides all the hiking/camping gear. The gear that is provided is top-notch. It was quite cold in Utah during the week I went, but luckily the sleeping bags and tents that they provided kept me warm. The campsites that we stayed at were nice and well-maintained (included hot showers). I will definitely book another trip with Wildland.
Trip of a lifetime with my boys hiking Half Dome. Carm our guide very nice and well prepared. Great group and very lucky with the weather.
Wildland Trekking thinks of everything. I had never backpacked before and they equipped me with everything I needed before and during my trip to be successful. Josh was like an encyclopedia, able to answer the hundreds of questions I launched at him about the land, vegetation, wildlife and history of the area. I would absolutely go on another trip in a heartbeat.
Did a Rim to river to Rim to River to Rim trek with Wildland starting Jan 1 to kick off the new year. This was wonderfully organized and Stephen was the best backpacking guide I have ever had. Not only was he technically competent (and the best back country chef ever) but he also had a light touch in dealing with the different members of the group who had differing fitness levels and experience. He made sure that everybody had a great experience while not making anyone feel like they were holding the group back. Dinner on the beach by the Colorado river, as well as Dinner at Plateau Point were definite highlights. The equipment was excellent and they made sure we had what we needed. I will be going with Wildland again.
Our Wildland Trekking guide is a awesome job, she was very knowledgeable about the areas we were hiking, excellent cook, and a pleasure to be around. Will definitely be booking with them again.
Our snowshoe tour was amazing, Charles was a great guide, we learned so much while taking in amazing views as he was able to take us away from the crowds and guided us through beautiful terrain all the while being mindful of our abilities. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating. He was great and Id book with him again in a heartbeat!
Truly incredible time on the Sedona/Grand Canyon 4 day tour. All of the accommodations were top notch, and unique. Truly a perfect amount of variety and excellent locations with amazing views and little details that rounded off the entire experience. The hikes were awesome, and our guide, Doug, was extremely knowledgable, professional, and great to have around. We felt safe the entire time, while also not feeling over-limited and parented around. Definitely will be using Wildland again in the future for our wilderness adventures!!! 5 out of 5 stars!
I had an amazing backpacking trip to Havasupai with Chris and Isaac. Their love of the outdoors is contagious! They were great, knowledgeable guides and great camp cooks! Looking forward to a Yellowstone trip with Wildland Trekking next summer!Update: went to Yellowstone in August and it was such a memorable trip! Matt was an excellent guide and I can’t wait until my next wildland adventure!!Update #2: went to Death Valley and Joshua Tree with Jeanelle on an inn-based tour. Jeanelle is very knowledgeable about both parks, easy going, and the best cook! I would definitely go on another trip led by her!
Wildland Trekking provided lodging, permits and a hiking guide in one convenient package. We were a group of 4 and did three lodge based day hikes. The hotel was historic and the meals they paid for were fabulous and gourmet at the hotel and tasty and light while on the trail. Our guide was Shayne Hall. Shayne was encyclopedic in his knowledge of the history, geology, and biology of the area. He entertained us with stories between rock formations and lookouts. He knew every spot to stop at and is a terrific chef. I could not have found a better guide with which to make my first trip into the canyon. He is genuine and you should regard him as a valuable asset and employee.
I was strategically looking for a high solitude, fun, adventurous, nature explosion, llama led, recharging, decompressing, tasty morsel, glamping vacation. I got every bit of that!!! The Wild Wyoming trip in mid-July brought perfect weather, ongoing rivers, streams, creeks, beautiful views from Hoback Mountain (and all along the way), two waterfalls, colorful flowers, wildlife, fire pit time before bed, and AWESOME guides (Alex & Grace). So happy with Wildland providing us a WONDER-FULL vacation! It exceeded my expectations!
Had a great trip climbing Telescope mountain. Samantha was a good guide and a great cook
Wildland Trekking provided an amazing service for a first time backpacker like myself. Our guide Beau made the entire trip easy and fun, he was incredibly knowledgable and was able to help us with everything from packing to first aid. I would not hesitate to recommend Wildland to anyone especially those who are just getting into backpacking and want a hassle free trip with an experienced guide and pre-prepared gear!
Outstanding. We hiked the Hermit Trail loop along the southern rim of the Grand Canyon in AZ. We chose mid-May based on weather/temperature recommendations, and we couldnt be happier. Small hiking group (5 people) with an incredibly knowledgeable, and professional guide (Tamara). We followed the packet, did the trip planning, followed the training and had a blast. Our trip was 4/5 difficulty and everyone survived. Well be back
2019 Summer: Our Best of Yosemite 5 Day Hike was super enjoyable and the views were amazing. Our Guide Carmelina knew Yosemite like the back of her hand, we saw all of the main attractions and a lot of hidden gems as well. She even got us reservations in the Ahwahnee Lodge for dinner one night which was super special. Be prepared to hike a lot! In total we logged 95,000 Steps and just over 45 miles, ALL of it worth it.2018 Summer: Our 3 Day hike through Havasupai Trail was incredible. Our guides Tom and Ryan did a great job keeping us fed, setting up an awesome camp, and taking care of any minor scratches that happened. Will definitely use Wildland for future hikes.
Recently completed the Glacier Point Trek in Yosemite with Carm K as our guide. She was very well organized and knowledgeable. We are planning yearly hikes with this company!
Thousand island lakes in eastern Sierra CaliforniaThis trip gives you enough time to enjoy camp after hiking and swim in the lakes at the end of the day . And hike more after setting camp . Views are just spectacular.
Our tour guide, Cameron Kern, had an expert level knowledge of the Grand Canyon, its plants and trees, and hiking generally, plus brought all of the gear we might possibly want or need (we did need it), and tailored our hike to my fitness level and experience. It was a great first experience for me. I will definitely be back!
This was one of the best experiences we have done! I would highly recommend. Our guide, Jeff was amazing and really helped make the trip.
I was impressed by the thorough and timely communication pre- and post-tour. The guide was a joy to be with--friendly, competent, strong, knowledgeable, and an excellent chef to boot! For a time in my life, I, too, was a tour guide, so I feel imminently qualified to evaluate Tamara. She was excellent in every aspect of her job, anticipating issues, taking actions to prevent problems, adjusting her pace to accommodate her guests, and an excellent communicator. She took great care to plan and provide delicious meals. The company has a good grasp of all aspects of safety, too. And as far as I could tell, equipment was of good quality and well maintained. We bumped into a man on a solo day hike who had taken several WT tours and raved about them, so I know my experience was by no means unique. Rave reviews for Wildland Trekking!
