Another incredible backpacking trip with Bob and the Fours Seasons Guide service. Yosemite was awesome, 4 days 3 nights in back country with an epic Half Dome finally. Had 3 new friends that have never done anything like this and they rocked it! Great equipment provided and a guide that lives up to his reputation every time. The Four Seasons staff take care of everything, all you need to do is show up physically able and they do the rest. Can’t wait to look for the next adventure with Bob and the Four Seasons Guide Service staff. Awesome adventure every time. Way to go Four Seasons!!!!
We booked the Grand Canyon Rim to Rim backpacking trip and were met with a knowledgeable, passionate and professional guide. From the booking process to the face to face meeting, Dave (the owner) was super responsive and accommodated our needs. Our guide, Matt, taught us so much and told us great stories about the characters and history of the canyon. The food was AMAZING and I can’t count how many times we stopped to cool off in the creeks along the trail. He motivated and cheered us the entire way. If you’re looking for adventure without the hassle of figuring it out for yourself, book with Four Season Guides! Looking forward to our next adventure with them!
Everything about this company is top notch. The reservation and booking process was well explained, questions were promptly answered, concerns quickly quelled, and the meet up the night before the trip was informative. The guides were knowledgeable, patient, supportive, and just downright passionate about their jobs and ensuring everyone had an amazing time. I did a four day/three night Grand Canyon backpack trip with two other friends and we joined up with six other travelers for our adventure. Four Seasons guides made sure this was a fantastic journey. They supported us with gear, food, special diet requests, and managing the personalities of nine people in a hot and physically demanding environment. If you are looking for a supported guide service that cares about your safety and enjoyment you dont have to look to anyone else. If they offer a trip to a place you want to explore, book them!
We did a 5 day backpacking trip with Four Seasons that started at Hermits Rest and hiked across the Canyon, ending at Indian Garden for the last night. Our guide was Tamara. The owner, Dave, was responsive to all our inquires and questions. Before and after booking and payment. His training guides and what to pack were helpful for us all, although Tamara was the one who really pared down what we planned to pack. Our guide, Tamara, was great. She was knowledgeable on backpacking, Canyon history, and geology. She set the pace for us, watched us closely for hydration and heat exhaustion, and made sure we had enough water and snacks when on the move. A couple in our group of 4 had some issues with their feet, Tamara had plenty of gear for wrapping sore toes and tending to blisters. She served us hot coffee with breakfast; sandwiches/wraps, and chips for lunches, and a hot meal and sweet snack to end the day. Even with all the walking, you wont lose weight on this trip.Terrain and temps were challenging at times but everyone had an amazing trip. Four Seasons, and specifically Tamara, made this the trip of a lifetime. Other than asking for cooler weather, I cant think of a way that the trip could have been better.
We just got back from a wonderful trip in Yosemite called the Vogelsang Loop. It was a 5 day/4 night trip highlighted by summitting Mount Vogelsang. This was our 10th trip with Four Seasons which has become an extended family for us. Dave and his crew are an absolute first rate group of folks that leave nothing to chance. The itinerary is meticulously planned down to any dietary restrictions, snack choices, and # of rest stops throughout the day. We even chose to extend our trip by a day in order to take advantage of a wonderful day hike to several lakes. Cant say enough things about the experiences that this wonderful group of folks provides. Were already planning #11 for next year.
I loved my trip with Tamara! She was extremely knowledgable about where we should be by what time to prevent sun exposure, she knew a vast amount about the canyon and the Navajo Nation. We always had plenty to eat and drink, and it was overall a fantastic experience! We were always well prepared through Four Seasons and I look forward to my next trip with them!
My husband and I completed a Rim to Rim Backpacking trip September 5-8 2021. This was my first backpacking trip and Four Seasons Guides (FSG) did an amazing job prepping us for the trip. They provided us the information we needed for training, the itinerary and food accommodations and were responsive to any questions we had. I was nervous about the trip with this being my first backpacking trip and FSG exceeded our expectations from start to finish and set my mind at ease. We highly recommend FSG! From orientation to the last day our guide Jeremy was patient, knowledgeable, encouraging, supportive and had the logistics of the trip down to a science. We never had to worry about what to eat or what the plan was as Jeremy had us covered with food and would let us know what to expect for each day. We were able to relax after hiking while Jeremy prepared delicious meals for us. I am a vegetarian and he nailed the food we ate in the backcountry. We are grateful to have found FSG for this adventure and will plan on another adventure with them! They helped take the stress out of the trip allowing us to enjoy nature and the beauty of the canyon. Thank you FSG and Jeremy for a great adventure and we we look forward to working with you again!Amanda and Todd
Such a great company. Small family feel. Thought through every detail. Very clean equipment and knowledgeableStaff. Request Matt as a guide. He killed it! Enjoy the trip and take it all in.
I took a trip to hike rim to rim on the Grand Canyon. Our guide, Matt, did a phenomenal job. I would recommend him to anyone interested in the area. He is a smart, well informed guy with a big heart and lots to share. I really enjoyed my time with him in the canyon, and it is clear backpacking is where his heart lies. Thanks for the wonderful trip!
We just got back from our awesome 4 days Grand Canyon backpacking trip with Four Season Guides in September 2021. Four Season Guides office, mostly Dave, was very responsive, helpful, and accommodating when we were booking the trip. They explained information needed for the trip such as permitting process, physical training, and equipment along with any dietary requirement. Jeremy was our guide. He was very knowledgeable, helpful, friendly and knew the Grand Canyon like the back of his hand. He explained facts as we went along and answered any question we had. He let us know what to expect each day so there was no surprise. And he fed us very well. Not only Jeremy kept us safe on the trail, he also watched out for other hikers as he came across. I would definitely go again with Four Season Guides. And I highly recommend them.
Our family of four had a great time with our hiking guide, Bob, on the Grand Canyon Explorer Trip. We look back on the the experience fondly and we think it was the perfect choice for us to get started exploring the Grand Canyon, both the South Rim, and the less crowded North Rim. The itinerary is very well designed and well paced with great hikes, a nice amount of relaxation, good and plentiful food, as well as good, strong coffee in the morning. We liked the one lodge night with dinner at a restaurant in combination with the two nights of camping. Bob was a wonderful guide/host and had a wealth of knowledge. After our hiking portion of the trip, we would often comment to each other when we had a question, Bob would know! I would not hesitate to book another trip with Four Season Guides.
Update: The 6 days my daughter and I spent with Bob backpacking around the Red Peak Pass Loop in Yosemite was a trip well remember for a long, long time. Bob did an amazing job tailoring the hike to the capabilities of our group and finding what had to be the best camp sites in the park. If youre going to do some backpacking, have Four Seasons Guides take you.Having taken 9 guided trips with Four Seasons (and planning many more), I can assure anyone thinking of backpacking at the Grand Canyon or Yosemite that Four Seasons Guides will ensure you have the trip of a lifetime. Dave is meticulous in preparing you for the experience. Whether you have Bob, Matt or Jeremy as your guide, youll be safe, well informed, and excited to see things you would never find on your own. They are the best.
I had a wonderful experience with Bob and my fellow hikers in Yosemite on the Red Peak Pass Loop. Bob is extremely knowledgeable and a great cook. I cant wait until my next trip.
Our group of three joined six others for the 4 day/3 night Grand Canyon Rim-to-Rim hike. IT. WAS. AWESOME. The experience of a lifetime! Our guides were Matt and Quinn, and I could not imagine better guides. Matt was particularly knowledgeable about the geology of the canyon and the history of the Native Americans who have inhabited it. They kept us well fed and well-hydrated, and the evening meals were surprisingly good. We went to several areas (Ribbon Falls, The Bird Baths, Native American Graineries, Plateau Point) that we likely would never have known about or seen had we not gone with the guided service. We stopped regularly to catch our breaths, and they knew when to slow up for a couple of members of our group who were not as fast as the rest of us. I cannot recommend this trip enough! You will NOT be disappointed.
This is my second backpacking trip with FSG and I can not wait for my 3rd. They listened to what I wanted from my trip and made the best recommendation ....Deer Creek/Thunder River. Absolutely amazing. It was tough but the breathtaking views made you forget how challenging it was. I would do this same exact trip over and over! Our guides, Scott and Jeremy rocked it! My last trip was Hermit Loop with Matt, another exceptional guide. I will let you all know about my next trip right after I return home!
I used four season guides on a recent bucket list hike down to Phantom Ranch at the bottom of the grand canyon. The arrangements were amazing and our guide Bob was fantastic. They provided the meals through the entire trip and our guide also gently coaxed us along the harder parts of this trail which is pretty daunting in some places. The arrangements for camping at the bottom were also top notch.Such a memorable trip which was so special. I will definitely use them again for other trips thanks Bob, Scott and Dave at Four season guides.
We used Four Season Guides for our Grand Canyon girls trip and I would totally recommend them again. They got us prepped before on what to bring, how to train, and what to expect so that when we got there we just needed to experience the views. Our guide made sure we were safe (key for us non-campers), well fed, in good shape, learned about the area, answered all our questions along the way, and just made the experience above our expectations. We look forward to our next journey with them!
I just returned from my 4th trip with Four Season Guides. It was my second 5-day backpacking trip with the company. I went to Yosemite last summer and did the Deer Creek Thunder River Loop this time. If I could give them 6 stars I would! The food was delicious and filling (we had fresh fruit and veggies in several meals!) and Matt and Quins knowledge of the Grand Canyon was impressive. Though we were technically roughing it, we didnt have to do any planning about what food to get, who is going to make it, who is going to clean up. We were able to truly relax and enjoy our time at camp.I cannot say enough nice things about this company! They are very accommodating and genuinely want to make your experience run smoothly. It was my birthday on night 4 and our guide Matt packed a candle to put in my Rice Krispie Treat (yes, they bring dessert for most meals!). It was so sweet and a perfect way to spend my birthday.
Did the 4 day Grandview Loop in the Grand Canyon with Four Season Guides, and it’d be safe to say we were absolutely blown away. Our guide, Jeremy, was not only an awesome guy, but was extremely knowledgeable, patient, amiable, and a great cook! He anticipated our every need, indulged our repeat questions on geology, the canyon’s flora and fauna, and the history of the canyon. Also, their gear that they provided was top notch, and the food was spectacular! I’ll be day dreaming about that southwestern mac and cheese for months! (Vegetarians and gluten free folks not to worry, they made sure that all meals met any dietary restrictions). Overall, this couldn’t have been a better experience. I will ABSOLUTELY be calling up four season guides for my next trip out west. Thank you four season guides and Jeremy!!!!! It was magic!!!
Four Season Guides may be a small company, but they always deliver. Ive hiked with Four Season Guides on three separate occasions. Each time, they provided a safe, fun, and memorable experience. If youre looking for a hiking guide for the Grand Canyon, Utah National Parks, or Yosemite National Park areas, I highly recommend checking them out.
Incredibly knowledgeable, enthusiastic staff and guide! Both Dave, as a contact prior to the trip, and Brandon, our guide on the trip, had all the answers for different scenarios which helped us be prepared and safe along the trail. We had so much fun!
Appreciated the expertise and professionalism that our tour guide (Bob) provided for our Grand Canyon hike. Trip of a lifetime! I would recommend Four Seasons.
Amazing experience with this company - Bob our guide was awesome. A perfect trip!
Amazing! I did the South Rim Hermit Loop Trip (4 days). We did a 4 day/3 night trip on Hermit Loop with Jeremy as our guide. Starting at Hermits Rest, we hiked down into the Grand Canyon from the South Rim and camped at Hermit Creek, hiked through Monument Valley and camped at Salt Creek, then hiked along the Tonto to camp at Indian Gardens before hiking out along Bright Angel Trail. We went in mid-February for Presidents Day weekend and the weather was perfect: sunny and 60s during the day and 40s at night.Jeremy was an amazing guide - very knowledgable about the history of the canyon, prepared DELICIOUS meals, and was overall a friendly and entertaining presence on the trip. I couldnt recommend Four Seasons Guides more highly for an adventure into the Grand Canyon. Go beyond the crowded tourist attractions and into the backcountry for an up close and personal view of our gorgeous national parks!!!
Four Seasons helped us have an amazing family experience in the Grand Canyon! Our family could not have enjoyed it more and FS was prepared for the winter cold. We were safe and enjoyed the journey!!
A fun place to get a picture!
Ive been in hospitality as a tour operator myself for over 30 years and David is a standout as an impressive professional who was generous with his time, and through his expertise and knowledge helped us enjoy Southern Utah and the Grand Canyon far more than we would without his help. He knows the details matter!
I recently spent 4 days hiking from Rim to Rim of the Grand Canyon with Four Seasons Guides and it truly was the experience of a lifetime. From the start Dave was extremely helpful in making this novice hiker comfortable and prepared for the adventure I was determined to conquer. Make sure to take the training warnings seriously! I’m so glad I did as it made the hike much more enjoyable for me. As for the hike itself, our guide Matt was fantastic!! He did a great job of leading our group of hikers and keeping a pace that was comfortable for everyone. It was very apparent that Matt loves and respects the Canyon. His stories and experiences were amazing to hear about along the trail.Every step of my hike through the Grand Canyon was memorable. I saw things most people will never see, and experienced things I didn’t even think I was capable of. Thank you Four Seasons Guides and thank you Matt. This trip was life changing for me and I owe a large part of that to you. I look forward to several more adventures together in the future!
Absolutely professional. Said what they did and did what they said. In a heartbeat i would use them again. Had an outstanding trip with zero issues. Did the GC R2R with them.
We hiked the Grand Canyon Rim to Rim in August 2019. The trip exceeded our expectations in every way except one: We expected to be hot and miserable (it was 112F in the shade), and instead we were comfortable and had a blast! Our guide, Matt, was incredibly knowledgeable. He knew how to time everything such that we hiked in the shade most of the way. He also knew the best places to cool off in a creek or play in a waterfall. It was great at the end of the day to have somebody else set up camp and cook us a delicious meal, allowing us to soak up the grandeur of the Canyon. Even the advice on preparing for the trip (spoiler alert – it involves training) was spot on and made for an incredibly enjoyable, fulfilling experience. I would definitely recommend Four Season Guides, and specifically Matt. In fact, we are hoping to use them again on another trip soon!
(edited 10/2/19) We just completed our fourth trip with Four Seasons and had another wonderful experience, this time in the the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park. Once again, Scott was our guide and once again, he was wonderful. Like before, the food was outstanding, and somehow Scott even managed to bring along fresh items to enhance the flavor of the meals. It was amazing to have fresh food miles from anywhere, out in the wilderness.Everything I wrote from before was true this time as well. Perfect logistics, great guidance from the main office when we had questions, and an outstanding time in the backcountry. Were already looking at where to go next. This year, Four Seasons had to deal with the additional challenge of COVID-19, with our trip to the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park postponed from May until October due to Canyonlands being closed down. And then in October, they received word that there was not enough water in the canyon to do the trip as planned, and had to rejig the entire trip. Throughout it all, owner Dave Logan and our guide Scott kept us informed, bounced ideas off of us, and were readily available to talk at any time. They were also very flexible in case any of us were worried about traveling during the pandemic, or not satisfied with the new plan.On top of all that, one of our folks got sick (not COVID, although we didnt know it then) during the trip. Scott took wonderful care of him.My wife and I have done four trips with Four Seasons Guides and are. looking to book our fifth. Weve used other tour companies before and Four Seasons is the best.If you are looking for a guided trip to the Grand Canyon, Yosemite, or a variety of other places, do it with Four Seasons. We will be back for more!
Best guide company in the area!! Dave is super responsive to emails and questions, no matter how small, on how to go about starting your trek.Four friends and myself planned a 5 day and 4 night backpacking trip on the Deer Creek-Thunder River trail through the Grand Canyon. Matt and Quinn were our guides and they exceeded all expectations in every way and, in general, were just great people to be around. In daily preparation, they were patient while showing us how everything was going to work, they were great at explaining how serious or not serious the days adventures were going to be and awesome at preparing great meals for us. In regards to guiding us through the hike itself, they were very knowledgeable about the area and were great at pointing out all kinds of amazing things we were seeing such as the geological layers of the canyon and animals that were all around us. This is absolutely the company to use and we will be back for another trip!!
My 22-year old daughter and I enjoyed a stunning 4-day trip to the Grandview & Horseshoe Mesa area of the Grand Canyon. This was our second trek with FSG in the canyon, and we chose Jeremy to be our guide again this time.Jeremy is a fantastic guide in every way, and a real delight to be with. He has a positive attitude, and tailors the side hikes & activities for the interests of his guests. This time, a young couple joined us as on the trip, and we had a great time together.Eating on a hike in the Grand Canyon with FSG is better than the average meal at home. It is amazing to see how imaginative the firm is at putting together an interesting combination of food & snacks. The equipment supplied by FSG is excellent, light & in great shape. The company’s process for signing up and getting ready for a trip leaves no surprises. The pre-trip documents are easy to read and very descriptive.Since we had hiked in the Grand Canyon previously, we selected a challenging route this time that was even steeper than the hike out on the Hermit Trail. Jeremy did a great job at setting a good pace, and at stopping at just the right places on the tough climb out of the canyon to keep everyone encouraged. FSG offers a wide variety of Grand Canyon hikes, ranging from easy to hard in their difficulty rating. They will make sure that you are signed up for the right kind of hike, based upon your previous experience and current fitness level. Our trek with FSG and Jeremy was so good in every way!
Four Seasons Guides was the Best way to experience The Grand Canyon. They made sure we were prepared, so there were no questions about what to expect. Matt was an amazing guide. Very knowledgeable about every aspect of the Grand Canyon and he had a true servants heart. Our warm meals were amazingly delicious, and our tents and sleeping arrangements were great. A once in a lifetime experience!!!
My husband and I took the three-day Phantom Ranch trip just this week. Matt, our guide, was absolutely wonderful! He knew so much about the history and geology of the canyon it was unbelievable. He also makes a mean bagel sandwich! He judged our groups pace, knew just when to stop for a standing break, a snack break or full lunch, and where the best views were for those breaks! Gave us great night-time suggestions and led us on a beautiful off day hike. Just the nicest, funniest guide ever! Four Seasons also matched us up with our hiking partners beautifully. I highly recommend Four Seasons for your guide service!
Great hike with Jeremy! Good itinerary to have a day down, a day on bottom and a day back up. Certainly, helpful to have the mule-assist with a bunch of the gear. Jeremy did an excellent job with the meals, and would not let us help him with any of the “chores”, so we had maximum free time. The small group of 5 hikers was also a nice feature.
My 2 sons and I hiked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, stayed 2 nights at the Phantom Ranch and hiked back out on the Bright Angel Trail. Four Season Guides took care of everything for us including equipment, transportation to/from Flagstaff and reservations at the ranch. Our guide, Karne, was excellent! I was only 2 weeks away from turning 77 years old, and she set a proper hiking pace for me to be comfortable with. She also assured that we rested and took in adequate water and food. Her knowledge of the Canyon including history, geological facts, etc.was amazing. Four Season Guides attended to every detail and I STRONGLY recommend them - especially if this is your first hike into the Canyon.Douglas AntonyMonticello, MN
Four Seasons Guides and Bob created a unique and amazing experience for all of our skill levels. All the way from Daves responsiveness regarding booking the trip, to Bob guiding us through unimaginable areas we explored, to the accommodations with lodging and food....everything was spectacular! Bob customized our trip based on our level of experience and always made us feel safe on each adventure. The only regret was the trip too short!! We hope to be back next year.
We just finished our rim to rim lodge based tour with Jeremy. We saw an excellent variety in the Grand Canyon from south rim descent, to north rim forest, to slot canyon, to a float down the river. There was lots to eat and we were well taken care of the entire time. Jeremy was able to answer all our questions about the canyon and life in the states. He was hilarious and we thoroughly enjoyed our time.
Outstanding Hermit Loop experience! From our first contact with Four Season Guides, to farewell hugs at the conclusion of a mind-blowing backpacking trip, this was an outstanding experience. Being able to communicate directly with Dave, the owner of the company and himself an experienced guide, made all the difference in getting consistent, accurate, credible (and patient!) information, which was not our previous experience with a larger company. We also scored the Emperor of All Guides, Jeremy Williams, whose unflagging enthusiasm for the Canyon animated our entire experience. Jeremy was an inexhaustible source of Grand Canyon history, geology, botany, zoology, entomology, and lore--exactly the nerd you want on a guided adventure. (We encountered multiple people along the route--from Rangers to Wranglers--who greeted Jeremy with warm enthusiasm, and told us he was the best guide they knew.) Jeremy prepared delicious, healthy, abundant meals, and pampered us in every way (especially carrying enormous weight in water, food and gear so we didnt have to). The trail itself was mind-blowing, and very different from the corridor we had done previously. This is definitely a route requiring an experienced guide, and we were in the best of hands with Jeremy and Four Seasons. We recommend this company whole-hardheartedly, and will be back for more! Thank you for a spectacular experience.
If you are looking for a guide company for the Grand Canyon, please give Four Season Guides a try! I live in Maryland and wanted a chance to explore the Grand Canyon from a hikers perspective... not just a tourist! My friends and I signed up with FS Guides to do a Rim to Rim 3 night/4 day backpacking trip two years ago. It was fabulous! We felt safe, yet challenged in a great way! I came home with wonderful memories and the satisfaction of my accomplishment. It was actually such a good experience (because of the support of Dave and his team) that I took my daughter into the back country of the Grand Canyon last year (with a guide) AND this year.... we are using Four Season Guides to head out into Yosemite National Park in July!PS. I am 55 years old, good health, a lover of the outdoors. As far as cost, they are definitely work the money and comparable to other guide companies. Just do it! Sherrie
Fantastic day hiking the Hermit Trail at the Grand Canyon with Four Seasons Guides. Brandon was our guide and he was 24 years wise! Very knowledgeable and insightful- a truly delightful young man. The hike was challenging but quite manageable. The views were jaw dropping! Everything about the hike and our interface with the company totally met our expectations. Would not hesitate to recommend them - the communication was very personal and professional.
Yosemite, Red Peak Pass Loop! The Best Trip Ever, according to my family. This was our fourth backpacking trip with Four Season Guides and our third having Scott Victor as our guide. Two of our trips have been into the Grand Canyon and one to Canyonlands, Utah. But hands down nothing beats the scenery and beauty of Yosemite. Those six days hiking with Scott were amazing and challenging all at once. Scott kept everyone very pumped up letting us know we were up to the challenge, even when I seriously started to doubt myself. The routes and campsites he showed us took our breaths away at times. We are two weeks back home and all of us just want to be back in the high sierra of Yosemite with the beautiful waterfalls and running streams with Scott waking us up with coffee and making us great meals! Four Season Guides seems to know exactly what adventure our family needs and goes out of their way to make sure we get it! I always knew the guides from Four Season Guides were first class, but after observing guides from other outfits while we were there, there is no doubt in my mind they are definitely the very best!! We cant wait for our next adventure with Four Season Guides and Scott next year.
In June, 2018 my 20 year old son and I traveled to Yosemite in California. For three days we set out with our wonderful guide to backpack and camp near the trailhead for Half Dome. On the second day before dawn we set out for a bucket list hike to summit Half Dome. We arrived at the cables at sunrise and made it to the top. We had the cables all to ourselves and the top of Half Dome was ours alone for an hour. Awesome. Just spectacular! Memories for a lifetime. Our guide through Four Seasons helped make our hiking adventure a great success. We camped in a wonderful spot. The food was great. Thanks Four Seasons. We highly recommend this pioneering outdoor adventure company. We plan to do the slot canyons in Utah next. Great job.
We had a fabulous experience backpacking in the Grand Canyon with FSG! Every detail was considered and taken care of to make our trip great. Planning, communication and execution were top notch. Our guide was knowledgeable, supportive and took great care of everyone in our group. Highly recommend!!
Hiking with a four seasons guide was absolutely amazing! Bob was so awesome! He was very knowledgeable about the trails, geology of the canyon, and all the nature and the wildlife. He was also hilarious! The hike was beautiful and the views were surreal. Bob brought everything from poles, packs, and food!Coming from the city life to the canyon I highly recommend a guided hike of the canyon!! I definitely will look into the other tours they have to offer in the Canyon and around! I’m glad we chose Four Seasons!
If youre looking for experienced, down-to-earth, knowledgeable, and reasonably priced guides, look no further! Four Season has the best itineraries and they truly design these itineraries to give groups of all experience levels an unforgettable adventure. My husband and I are avid hikers and backpackers. We chose to go with Four Season guides as we ventured out west because were East Coasters, and we yield to the experts when learning the trails in new territory. Were beyond thrilled that we selected Four Season Guides. If we could give them more stars and praise, we certainly would. Book your adventure with this group. You will NOT be disappointed!
I took a family trip of 5 young adults thru the Grand Canyon with Four Seasons. I went out of my way to write previous reviews because the experience was so amazing. While Four Seasons did not create the amazing Grand Canyon and the views, they made experiences unforgettable. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the canyon itself. Sharing his emotional and spiritual connection to the Canyon was an honor. The food was excellent. Although many of us had our own equipment, when we saw the quality of the rental equipment for Four Seasons, we switched to their gear.If you are seriously considering doing a Grand Canyon backpacking trip then do not look for another guide company. Choose Four Seasons.
We just got done with an amazing trip in the Grand Canyon with Bob. The whole experience exceeded all our highest hopes and expectations! From the planning to the finish... it was awesome!!
I was fortunate to do a 3 day trip to Phantom Ranch in the Grand Canyon with Four Season Guides. They are an excellent company to tour with. Everything from the overall planning to the expert guide that took good care of us was top notch. It was one of the most memorable trips I have taken. I would definitely recommend them!!
This was such an amazing trip with Scott. We could not have asked for a more level headed person who knew so much about the Canyon that every question was answered. Meals were fantastic, we would certainly go with Four Season Guides again! It was a flawless trip.
Four Season Guides provided the trip of a lifetime. Our guide Matt shared his incredible knowledge of the canyon, packed great lunches and snacks, and made sure we got the most from the trip. The company took care off all planning, accommodations, and transportation. I would highly recommend Four Season Guides if you are planning a trip to the Grand Canyon.
I have hiked twice in the Grand Canyon with Four Seasons. Both guides have been excellent -- organized, knowledgeable and respectful of the groups dynamics. As an organization, Four Seasons is first rate. The office is very responsive to any questions or needs. The equipment they provide is in good shape. I am scheduled to hike again this year with Four Seasons and look forward to it.
I loved my trip with Fours Season Guides. I did the hike down into the Grand Canyon, overnight at Phantom Ranch and then we hiked out. Not only was our group small (5) our guide was encouraging and easy to be with (Jeremy). Our trip was well planned, the hike lunches were perfect (healthy and yummy). We had plenty of time to rest OR hike more! I was so happy to be out challenging myself in a beautiful setting, and I was well taken care of! I also had a lot of questions before my hike (my first one!) and Dave was always quick to answer! I highly recommend taking a trip with these guys. I am hoping to do another one later this year.
Recently went on a backpacking trip to Yosemite, being my first guided trip I didnt know what to expect. My experience exceeded anticipated expectations. Our 4Seasons guide,Scott, made the trip a memorable and pleasant experience: from anticipating our strengths and weakness,to meals and snacks, camping locations, trails to avoid the hoards and patiently answering all of our questions concerning flora, fauna, geology and a knowledge of basically anything we asked. He also was very attentive to our safety. I can not imagine anyone not enjoying the services that 4Seasons provide. A true 5star!
You cannot go wrong booking your next hike with Four Season Guides. From the initial communication at the beginning of the experience, to the notification of successful permits, the check-ins to ensure training was progressing and then the actual hike and post-hike follow up, I always felt secure in their knowledge and capability. Our lead guide, Jeremy, was absolutely amazing, his obvious love and passion for what he does was evident in his every action and word, and he was pivotal in ensuring that everyone on our trip had the best experience possible. Even in some of the toughest moments, he was always so positive and uplifting, that anything felt possible. The meals and snacks were delicious and plentiful, and the bonus of fresh-pressed coffee each morning an absolute delight. The equipment provided was fit for purpose and a good quality.I learned so much about the Grand Canyon on my Grandview Trail 3 day hike and look forward to discovering Yosemite with Four Season Guides the next time I am in the US. Thanks Dave, Brandon and Jeremy for one of the most challenging, memorable and wonderful adventures I will ever undertake.
Totally enjoyed our time in the Grand Canyon with Four Seasons and our guide Matt. He kept the pace our group required without pressure, yet with encouragement. Every break Matt added interesting Canyon info we would never had the means to discover. The food and coffee were spot on. Bonus: every Ranger we greeted had a smile and a word for Matt. Thank you Four Seasons!
We had an amazing trip hiking in the Grand Canyon with Four Seasons. We had four guides throughout the trip and each one was incredibly personable and knowledgeable about the region. The company itself was super accommodating and easy to work with. I highly recommend Four Seasons and cant wait to take a trip with them again.
Really great 3-day hike from the South Rim of the Grand Canyon and back up. The guides, Scott and Brandon, were excellent the whole time. The pace was right and food and trail snacks were excellent, too.
I have been part of a group who traveled with Four Seasons two years in a row. They were excellent about information and letting us know what to expect and what we needed. Scott, out guide was amazing at showing us the sights and adapting to our skill levels making the trip as great as possible. I would recommend anyone planning a trip to use Four Seasons to make their experience as great as possible.
Four Seasons did a fantastic job!! So easy to work with and our guide, Scott was extremely knowledgeable of the trails - pointing out things unguided persons would miss. He also took us on a day hike through the canyon floor to the north rim and Ribbon Waterfall - a must see. I would definitely do this again! Four Seasons even supported our special menu request: Fritos!Scott served up snacks on the hikes, set up and took down our tents (after guiding us to the primo spot at Angel Campground) then cooked/prepared all our meals. We did not go hungry!
We booked a trip with Four Seasons Guides for our Grand Canyon hike. We asked for a hike that was not the usual and they took us on the Hermit Trail. Our guide, Brandon, was extremely informative with history and details of the Grand Canyon, which we throughly enjoyed. Brandon provided a lunch for us along the hike that was awesome.I am not a young man anymore and Brandon was very sensitive to my abilities. Our trip was highlighted by the hike and the wonderful experience provided by Four Seasons Guides. Not like you Big Hiking Companies who load up the trip with as many people as possible, it was like a private tour of the Grand Canyon. If you are thinking of a Grand Canyon Hike, i highly recommend Four Seasons Guides as your Go To hiking guides. You will have the best hike available in the Grand Canyon area or anywhere they travel to for hiking. Thanks Four Seasons,Rob Clements
Excellent custom group trip for a group of women (ages 55-67) hiking the Zion/Bryce/Escalante area over 5 days. The pre-trip support was thorough and Dave was very prompt in answering our questions as they came up. Once in Utah, our guides (Bob and Blair) were terrific, moving us from gorgeous place to gorgeous place to hike around, always being aware of what trails would offer us the best collective experience. They set up and took down camp, prepared really great meals, and hauled around snacks and other goodies for us on the trail. We were delighted with our experience, which exceeded expectations, and recommend Four Seasons Guides to anyone who wants to get out in this area.
I used Four Seasons Guides for a backpacking trip with my sons in the summer of 2018. Matt, our guide, was amazing. His knowledge of the area, topography, geology, history, etc. was entertaining and educational. As if that wasnt enough, Matt is an excellent chef to boot. We were spoiled by his amazing cooking every night. This will be a trip my sons and I remember for a long time to come. Thank you Matt and Fours Seasons for helping us build great memories. We look forward to using you again on a future trip.
Dave and his team assure an unforgettable experience. Ive done two trips with FSG over the years (Rim to Rim Grand Canyon, Yosemite Snow Creek Route) and have met the best people. I feel like an insider at some of the most beautiful places in the United States. FSG makes every effort to ensure that every participant is as prepared, comfortable, well-fed, hydrated, and fulfilled as possible. Highly, highly recommend. These trips are superbly suited for the curious and wanderers at heart. Go out and experience our national parks with Four Season Guides!
We just completed the rim to rim hiking trip with Scott as our guide. It was an awesome experience. Dave was very responsive by email in the months/days leading up to the trip. Scott is knowledgeable about the canyon and kept us well fed. The trip was seamless. If you show up mentally and physically prepared for the trip, FSG does the rest. I would definitely book a trip with FSG again.
I have been on numerous Grand Canyon backpacking adventures and one Yosemite trip with Four Seasons and all were great trips. Their guides are professional and very knowledgeable. I will be signing up for more in the future and highly recommend them.
Having taken 4 trips with Four Seasons Guides you could say Im a fan. Each trip was awesome in their own way. Dave answers all questions whether it be email or phone calls. The attention to detail cant be beat. The guides are professional, knowledgable, fun and just awesome. Im sure I will use them again.
Four season guides were great! I had the best time hiking in the Grand Canyon and the hiking equipment they provided made all the difference.
Highly recommend using 4 seasons guides. Amazing trip, you’d have to experience it yourself to even comprehend the detail, care, menu and thought put into the trip.
Extraordinary place — needless to say — and a trekking company to match. Matt and Dave were brilliant. Loved. Every. Minute.
Backpacking the Grand Canyon with Dave Logan of Four Season Guides made the trip easy and affordable. I debated on whether to invest in backpacking equipment and gear or hire a guide and have all the equipment provided along with somebody to lead the way who knew the Grand Canyon inside and out - and went with the latter. Having a guide made the trip more relaxing and enjoyable and we saw side canyons I wouldnt have known about. I would recommend Four Seasons every time for those who have always wanted to hike the Grand Canyon.
I used Four Seasons this past fall for our Havasupai trip. Dave was most helpful with booking and questions, since we were not making it to the pre trio orientation . Our guide Jeremy was awesome. Great attitude, very knowledgeable and fixed some of the most fantastic and elaborate meals (not what I was expecting on a camping trip). Using Four seasons allowed us to enjoy our trip without having to worry about the little things. Jeremy was great about making sure we were all comfortable, that we got everything out of the experience we wanted, and helped with good tips and first aid when needed. This whole experience was not only rewarding but loved the personal touch of using a small company. Would definitely use this group again.
My husband and I joined Bob for a 4-night, 5-day Best of Canyon Country Basecamp Adventure. It was an absolute incredible experience, one that started it all so to speak, for us. Our love for Utah and hiking began with this trip, as it truly was a life aha moment for both of us.What distinguishes Four Season Guides vs. the competition is their approach to putting together a group of people that have complimentary personalities for each trip. Dave (the owner) takes his time to get to know clients and understand team dynamics on the trail. We have made many life-long friends because of Daves expert-ability to put together an incredible team of people. We have another upcoming trip with Four Seasons in August 2019 - Yosemites Vogelsang to Half Dome 5-day backpacking trip. Consistent with years past, we are certain Four Season Guides will completely exceed our expectations!
Love Four Season Guides! Our second Grand Canyon trip with them. Our guide (Matt) was very knowledgeable and took great care of us. He showed us things we would have missed without him, and the food was great. Looking forward to booking again!
Four Season Guides is the BEST Grand Canyon backpacking and guided hiking company in Arizona - hands down. The care they take with their adventurers above and beyond what was/is expected.A big shout out to Dave - the best Grand Canyon Guide of them all. He truly cares about the experience each adventurer has on their trip. A+++++
Thanks to Four Seasons Guides I had the experience of a lifetime with a lodge based hiking expedition to the Grand Canyon, the Vermillion Cliffs, Ed Miers Secret, and Horseshoe Bend. Our guide, Scott, accounted for our different levels of physical abilities and ensured a high rate of return on experience. The best part of the trip/hikes was that it was not the standard tourist experience-going to the famous/named trails but rather the unique back trails and out of the way routes. Scott was very knowledgeable about the area and history. And the food-WOW! Looking forward to my next hiking vacation with Four Seasons.
Four season guides are the best. They take care of you, keep you safe, and work hard to make sure each trip is a peak experience. You will not be disappointed.
From the first time I called Four Seasons asking if they could help me carry a pack and actually sleep away from my car, to arranging specialized trips not even on the brochure, I cant think of better people to spend a week with! careful planning, attention to safety and friendship are their calling cards, choose Four Seasons for your next trip, they will change the way you think of guided trips!
Another amazing trip with Bob. Communication is second to none from Dave during booking process and we were well fed and cared for by Bob. Cant recommend four season guides enough.
Dave and the staff were awesome on our north rim hike. The gear was top of the line along with the experience. I can’t wait to hike again with four season guides.
My wife and I joined Matt for a 4-night, 5-day Hermit Loop hike. The Hermit Loop itinerary offers a perfect balance between a challenging yet enjoyable adventure. Although the trip was offered as a 3-night itinerary, the 4-night option provides a slower pace and opportunities for day trips as described below. What made the trip even better was our decision to enjoy the adventure with Four Season Guides. This was our 2nd hike with FS Guides and 1st trip with Matt. Dave (owner), Bob (previous guide), and Matt all had one thing in common – they consistently exceeded our expectations! Whether it was related to trip preparation or taking care of blisters on the trail, the Four Season team consistently went above and beyond to ensure we had the time of our lives. Matt was an absolute expert in regards to his level of knowledge about the Canyon, was a very engaging guide, and was a beast of a cook.
Booking a hiking trip with FSG is one of the best decisions you can make! My husband and I have done 4 trips with them and going on our 5th this spring. We started with a base camp trip in Utah, then a lodge based trip in Grand Canyon, then two backpacking trips in Yosemite. Super excited for our upcoming backpacking trip in Utah! They are incredibly easy to work with for booking and their guides are top notch. Really good at assessing the group’s ability, deep knowledge about where you go, amazing cooks, and the best conversations! They seriously think of EVERYTHING from food and snacks to equipment. All you need is to get yourself in shape, and you’ll have the best time. JUST DO IT!
My wife and I recently returned from the 4-day Rim to Rim Grand Canyon trip. While we are avid day-hikers, we were looking for an introduction to backpacking. We had a great experience from beginning to end with FSG.Dave was very responsive via email and phone when setting up our trip; and when we missed the orientation meeting due to a cancelled flight, he met with us separately to ensure we had all the supplies and information needed.Scott was our guide through the Grand Canyon, and we cannot imagine having a better one. He was full of information regarding the geology and history of the National Park, and he also shared his personal stories of people he knew who had connections to the Park and to the Grand Canyon. An excellent chef, he provided French press coffee every morning and remarkable meals throughout the day. He made sure we left each morning at a time to maximize our time in the shade and set a good pace to accommodate everyone in our group. It was a memorable way to experience the Grand Canyon, and we would recommend FSG whole-heartedly.
I have been on two trips with FSG - Utah Canyons and Havasu Falls. Both were fantastic! The guides were amazing and I felt very safe because of their training and extensive knowledge. They were a lot of fun too! The small groups 8 and 7 provided an exclusive experience. The trips were well planned with super meals. The scenery and hiking experience was amazing. I cant wait to take my next trip.
I highly recommend this guiding company. My husband and I did a rim to rim Grand caynon trip with our guide Matt.He cooked great food, had fun stories, and overall is a nice guy.If youre thinking about hiring a guide or doing this on your own..... Hire a guide! They make the trip enjoyable. Matt knew what time and how far we should travel to hit shade, to take a break, and where to find cool spots to rest. He also knew interesting facts about the area and which camp sites would have shade longer than the rest. Thats what you are paying for = experience and knowledge. There were times I probably wasnt doing too well and he got me to cooling off spots to hop in the water, especially awesome waterfall spots. Now that you know you should hire a guide, you should hire this company. Their gear is great, they are organized and they are professional.I had a great time and will remember this trip forever...I mean, omg, I hiked the freaking Grand canyon!
FSGuides is great. I have done 6 trips with them and I hope I can do another 6. I have done several Rim to Rims and trips to Utah and Havasu Falls hiking and even the Grand Canyon during a very snowy December. The guides are great. Safety is number 1. Do not wait, sign up now. (I am not paid nor am I on the staff and I live in NH.)
We spent 4 days hiking the Grand Canyon with Bob Cheeseman of Four Seasons Guides. Bob and the experience exceeded our expectations. We started planning the trip months ago, and during the planning process Dave was responsive to every inquiry. It is rare these days to get an actual person to talk to when you have questions. Every call, text, or email was answered promptly. I cant say enough about Bob. Hiking with him is like hiking with a college professor. He is extremely well read on all facets of the GC environment. We will use Four Seasons for all future expeditions to the GC and other destinations. I highly recommend them.
Any guide can take you to a place; few can engrave it in your soul forever. The company you choose is the most important decision you will make. I have been hiking for years and so much is engraved in my soul by the beauty I was privileged to experience.I have used other guiding companies, and Four Seasons is by far the best. It is important to understand why The Grand Canyon is so sacred to me and why I have high expectations of a guiding company that are hard to exceed. Let’s hit the basics. The food is terrific, equipment is always clean and in excellent condition, the guides are amongst the best (we love Jeremy). You are treated like royalty. They do what they say and a little more, always. You can reach them easily and get responses quickly. So as far as the logistics, you can expect exceptional service.Of course, things happen on trips. Four Seasons always has a backup plan and will remedy any issues quickly, even if that means the guide giving you his tent or trekking poles. Jeremy even gave me his hat, which is something I still have and will always be precious to me. On my husbands birthday, Jeremy somehow found out. He made his birthday unforgettable. He made a special stop to get him a delicious piece of avocado pie. If you are wrinkling your nose, stop immediately. It is absolutely delicious. On the way back, he had a special lunch with a candle in the middle of the pie, and we all sang him Happy Birthday. It doesn’t sound like such a big deal right, a piece of pie. That’s not what made it special. It was thoughtful. In this world, it is hard to find people that stop everything and freeze moments, then engrave them into your soul. At that moment in time, my husband felt important and special. It is something he still talks about. As his wife, it is hard to talk about without tearing up. Watching him in that moment smile and enjoy his special day made my heart skip beats.A hike in the Grand Canyon changed my life. I wrote a book called, ”Behind The Pretty Doors” that will be published in the next few months. It is a story of my details. Details that have been set free because of a moment standing at the edge of Plateau Point, Grand Canyon. I will leave you with this.Puddles of ChaosIf you are not trying to squeeze two seconds out of one, you are not living life to the fullest. And in those moments when life captures your breath, Be Still. Really feel the sun on your face or a raindrop roll off the tip of your nose. Not all the raindrops soaking you. One raindrop on your skin, resting on your eyelash, waiting for you to blink it into the past. A past that can never become your present again, No Regrets.Instead, follow its path until it lapses into the chaos of the puddles, Be Kind. In life, puddles of chaos are a guarantee. Catch them, occupy, and savor the stillness before your raindrops are no longer yours. And when life brings you to your knees, leavIng you begging for one second to lead to just one more second. When seconds feel like half seconds, and you are being cheated by the blow horn and then whisper of time. Only then will you fully understand how painful regret is and the gift of a second, Savor ”Your” Moments.---It is something you have to experience and your eyes must see. It is far more beautiful than a picture. Beauty is amplified by how you felt in the moment that a picture cannot capture. This earths beauty humbles and gifts you with grace and appreciation for what we take for granted every day. It is a place where worries are washed away by the raging Colorado River. Angels fly high above the highest peaks. And beauty is realized at its rawest form. Just like we are after you strip away all the excess stuff holding us back. Your rawness is exposed in the most beautiful away. Brutally hard work. Every step takes everything you have mentally and physically. The mental journey is far more intense and healing than the physical will ever be. By: Michelle HancockTake a journey with Four Seasons where soul’s are engraved with forever memories.
Best experience ever. Learned so much for our expert guide. We were lucky to have perfect weather in early March. I should have definitely prepared myself with much more cardio before the trip. It is definitely not for amateurs.
3rd trip with FSG! This time to the Grand Canyon. Wow! What another phenomenal hike. The surrounds, of course, defy description--descending through the layers of the Grand Canyon, only able to approach the side canyons through the ancient landslide that is Surprise Valley. Slot, desert oases, archeology and history, waterfalls bursting through the red limestone! It was a privilege to hike with Bob and Karne again. They are expert, fun guides and bottomless wells of knowledge about all things Grand Canyon. They managed all of the crucial details, allowing me to immerse myself in a Grand Canyon backpacking trip. I have never seen the canyon from on-foot before and the slower pace of walking (vs rafting or driving along the rim) is perfect to revel in the intriguing details and sweeping vistas of the Grand Canyon. As always, preparing for such a trip was a cinch with FSG. Dave coordinated all of the details such that I was adequately prepared for this strenuous adventure. I highly recommend exploring with FSG.
Just got back from a wonderful Best of Canyon Country (Zion, Bryce, Escalante) custom tour with FSG. Fantastic guides (Bob and Blair) who were knowledgeable, organized, friendly, and excellent at adapting each day to our groups interests and skill level. I felt I was in good hands the entire time. The scenery was amazing and the hiking glorious. We went on hikes we wouldnt have known about on our own. Also, FSG was very responsive to our questions before the trip. The trip exceeded my expectations, and I hope to go on another trip with FSG.
This is my 4th trip with FSG and it wont be my last. Excellent, small group trips with an experienced and knowledgeable guide. FSG takes care of everything including equipment and planning & preparing delicious, balanced meals. Guides go above and beyond to tailor the trip to your group and show you interesting places. They always have a plan no matter the weather or circumstances. Highly recommended.
Amazing experience!! Scott was uplifting, positive, funny, and helpful from the beginning until the completion of the trip!
My trip to Havasupai was extraordinary! The guides were so supportive and watchful. They were always smiling and available to help or answer questions. They prepared the food (it was amazing and they were extra cautious about my allergies!) and sleeping set-ups so after a long day of hiking our group just sat back and enjoyed the surroundings and everyone’s company. I have gone on numerous backpacking trips but Four Seasons is top notch! Havasupai and the falls were breathtaking. The guides knew all of the routes to find a number of hidden gems. So glad we booked with them!
My son and I were looking for a guide for a Yosemite hike and were lucky enough to find the VERY BEST! Four Seasons is very professional, always prompt, and pays attention to all the details. Dave made sure that we were prepared with all the information we needed for our loop trip up the Merced river and a summit up half dome. Our guide Matt could not have been more knowledgeable and accommodating. His familiarity of the area and his stories were excellent. His cooking and meals were so good, they rivaled restaurants and I will gladly try some of his recipes at home. I have never had such fresh and delicious food on a 5 day back country hike.At 54 years old, I have had a lot of experience from my days as an Eagle scout and even leading some group hikes over the years. So when I tell you that this company knows their stuff, believe it.We presented some challenges for Matt with my son being a brittle type 1 diabetic and my current severe foot pain due to a chronic infection. Matt adapted to our needs and encouraged us when we were lagging. Our whole group was very accommodating and we appreciated that.Matt even got up at 3 am before our hike started to secure our half dome permits. What dedication. We picked the right company for sure.Four Season guides is fantastic. You will be impressed!!
A terrific experience from start to finish. Couldnt be better.
