Smith machines are a hot commodity in all locations and here theyre occupied most of the time. The one upstairs in this location is catching now, dont know if its old or just need lubricating. Most gym goers here dont clean after themselves or have mask on (mask mandate doesnt change peoples behavior). If youre at risk or live with someone who is, youve been warned.
Pros: Great variety of workout options/classes. Clean and well-maintained facility.Cons: I had to pay $170 to cancel my + partners memberships when moving out of state.
Best club in the Madison area. Lockers could use maintenance and a towel servoce.would h3 nice. Other than that, great equipment and good vibe.
It’s that time of year— where I show appreciation and gratitude to The Princeton Club! Thank you for having an incredible place to work out. I have been a member for almost 3 years now and have not been disappointed with my choice in continuing my membership. I love the Fitchburg location the most. It’s a big facility with new equipment and friendly staff. An extra special big thank you to Corey Nelson (Personal Training Director). He always is ready to help and gives good recommendations. Every time I send him an email asking for a favor he always replies, “Thats no problem at all” and helps me right away. Corey never makes me feel like I’m a bother! Thanks for another great year Princeton Club— I’m so happy I’ve joined your club!
Brand new member. Left multiple messages for trainer, managers, note at front desk. No response. It’s been a month. Jacuzzi is likely a health hazard, under temp, low jet output. Multiple machines rusted, don’t work. I can go on. Very disappointed with this location.
Great place to go for a little exercise.Thr facility is clean with a high number of quality machines and weights. The pool Hot tub and sauna are fantastic as well.
I had my membership a couple of weeks ago .. but I can see that it is not a very clean place the bathrooms do not feel so clean and the mirrors are dirty with sweat I thought it was a good idea to be part of them but I am not happy instead It is neglected they need better cleaners and more supervision I have not taken a shower yet because I am not sure the floors are clean I have not used the pool either they are strict with their contract policies they should also think that their clients pay a lot of money every month
What exactly does Mask required mean to you Princeton Club?!? As far as I understand, it means everyone must wear a mask at all times. Then how are the same people without a mask every single day, and not just pulled down or worn incorrectly, just no mask period and no employee ever says anything to those people while walking by them numerous times. ITS A PANDEMIC!!! And guess what, nobody likes to wear a mask, but we do to protect each other and keep this place open...
Clean place with tons of different classes, machines, and entertainment while working out. THEY HAVE A CINEMA WORKOUT ROOM. Thats a great room to work on your cardio mindlessly. Love this place!
Once again: what does mask requiered means to Princeton club? 50% of the people are not wearing a mask!!! Why are you allowing your members to be exposed to people not following the rules? I know about waivers and all that, I know you are not re-enforcing it.Very disappointing !!!!!
Great establishment for setting and reaching your personal goals
Great gym. Lots of space and different equipment to use. Always clean and organized. Nice to be able tn access all the Princeton club locations in Madison as well.
Good sized gym - equipment is being updated constantly. The pool is nice, locker rooms are sizable and accommodating. A great fitness center that is always well lit and inviting for a variety of activities or experience levels.Cons: The weights need to be cleaned more - went to pick up dumbbells and noticed lots of hair/dust/ fingernails under neath them.
The gym is fine but my ex and I had memberships that ended about a year ago, but we have had consistent problems with princeton continuing to charge us despite verifying memberships ending and / or being canceled multiple times. This is insane and completely unprofessional.
The name alone makes you think this gym will be pristine, it wasnt. The idea of cleaning equipment here is walk by and spray it thats it. Spraybwas avilable but no rags or towels to wipe down. No reason they should charge 20 dollars for a day pass
Very clean gym that has every thing you need including a relaxing sauna. I do like the classes that are offered as well, great variety. Would appreciate a more flexible membership plan but understand why they have it structured the way they do.
Front desk staff is top notch, greeting everyone both on the way in and out. However, the free weights section equipment is neglected in favor of new classroom flooring, stationary bikes, and other equipment to market to inactive members. To start, they need to replace all of the non-adjustable flat benches with adjustable ones and add variety to the cable machines handle attachments. These overdue upgrades to the free weights area would easily upgrades this review to 5 🌟The employees customer service keep me coming back to this particular Princeton Club as my primary gym.Ill often see personal trainers leading by example in working out alongside their clients. Thats what makes their personal trainers the best Ive seen at any place Ive worked out. They really seem to care about individuals goals.Edit: the previous business response reinforced the lack of weight training machine upgrades. Dead lift platforms or benches dont count as weight training machines. Now, under a new GM, new machines are being promised. Since weve heard that before, many of us are eager to see if this gym brings itself up to speed with its 2021 competitors.
If youre looking for a fitness club/gym on the southwest side of Madison. Princeton Club Fitchburg, is by far, the best option.
I have been a member since before the gym was built. It is the best gym I have belonged to (quite a few so far). The best part is that offer Les Mills group fitness classes. But also the facility, management and customer service.Jenn - the gym manager is awesome!
I was just here for a few minutes to check it out, but the facility is huge and filled with plenty of equipment. Looked great. Not sure how crowded it gets at peak times.
The gym has a very nice selection of equipment. I really enjoy the yoga sessions. The two week free trial is an excellent chance to try the Princeton experience.
Love the day care ladies!!!!!! way better than west daycare, they actually care, they are super friendly and get the kids involved when they are crying. I love the seperate steam room and womens work out room. Thanks for the great service. It would be nice with some discounted months !
Pretty good club
Very nice locker rooms and equipment. Facility has 2 levels and is nice and clean. Theres a Women Only area, a pool, and a refreshment center too. Well staffed @ 8:30pm.
Wanted to recognize Corey (Personal Training Manger) for his everyday attitude and friendliness. Every time I see Corey hes in a fantastic mood, says hi, and simply makes the club a welcoming place to be.
Stopped in yesterday with a member and had a day pass, front desk guy wouldnt let us in and said these cant be used on a Sunday, it clearly states on card that you can than he said no you need to talk to membership services before I let you in, or you can pay 20.00 to enter. I stopped in one other time with a pass when I was looking for a gym to join and had no issues at all, my home will be complete in the next 60 days and is down the road abit but dont mind the drive and was trying to get an idea of how busy pool would be during the hours I would be using gym.
My go to gym since late December after getting back to Wisconsin. has all I need for workouts as a powerlifting athlete and mud runner. very spacious and open. top notch equipment well maintained. top of the line brands of equipment. even when busy its never too bad here. front desk staff really kind and corgial. bathrooms clean and well kept. pool and sauna nice addition also. I also like having access to the east gymx west gym and McFarland Express sites when needed also. having 24 hour access is a perk for my schedule. at under $60 a month for all the services, best deal for a health club I know of in the area.
Ive only ever gone once, but its lovely! The way the layout is set up is interesting, but the most important thing to me is how much space is in the bathroom (because I usually workout and then have to change clothes for somewhere else I need to be) and its perfect! Counter space and everything is great. And theyre selection of workout equipment is pretty broad, as well. 5 stars from me for sure :)
Very high quality machines - nice pool. Locker rooms could use a remodel but the rest looks very good. Cardio cinema is a great standout feature!
They have the market cornered in madison for nice gyms with childcare! The gym is always clean, it’s rarely crowded, and the pool is slightly heated. There’s also a hot tub and a sauna if you want to warm up in the middle of winter. The in house daycare is really nice and there’s a lot of cool activities for the kids to do. My son literally asks to go to the gym because he loves the huge built in slide.
Always clean
I have belonged to this gym for a few years now and one of the things I enjoyed the most was the availability of the spin bikes for independent use without restriction. It was so nice to be able to bike with a friend or two in a quiet space as we train for races throughout the year. It’s frustrating to know that I pay gym dues that helped to purchase these bikes and my only option is limited to using the old spin bikes that are literally labeled as “bad” quality on the bikes. Management can say what they want about this “policy” to lock the spin rooms, but this policy didn’t exist when it was Gold’s Gym and there never seemed to be any issues with the bikes or the spin room. If they aren’t going to leave the room open at all times like it has always been before then they should consider some sort of a sign in sheet at the desk or “open gym” times that the room is unlocked for for those of us that enjoyed our independent spin exercise. I very much hope that this gets discussed among management because it is disappointing and a deterrent to belonging to this health club.
Princeton Club has allowed far too many people to join, and it has become so packed that I can no longer get my full workouts in. I would highly recommend looking elsewhere for a gym membership until they get this figured out.I also tried to cancel my membership based on this situation, and Princeton Club was not accommodating or helpful in any way. I was not able to cancel my membership, so unless you are 100% confident that you want to stay with them no matter how things might change, you should look for another gym.
The best PC in Madison. Only issue is that it could be cleaner and a lot of locker doors are broken, but its by far cleaner than the west side. The equipment is less ancient than both east and west.
While not perfect, this gym is pretty much my second home. The staff is extremely friendly and does a great job at keeping the place clean. Theres a wide variety of equipment, including multiples of the most popular weight machines and plenty of treadmills. They even have a few Concept 2 rowers! Unfortunately chalk isnt allowed at this location so thats something to watch out for if you like weightlifting. The knurling on a lot of the barbells is pretty worn as well, but theyre all definitely workable. Be aware that there arent deadlift platforms at this location right now - the west location has some if youre looking for that.It does get pretty busy during weekday evenings, so Id recommend taking that into account when youre planning your workout.
Too busy. Not enough machines.
Lots of changes with new ownership, thought at first they were great but now I kind of wish we had the old version. New bikes were purchased which sounds great but they locked them to only be used during classes - what’s the point of that when I want to use the bikes purchased with fees to go on a long ride on my own terms? It’s also far too packed now. I’ve even tried leaving work at 3 to get a workout in and there’s no way - pool is always full and thousands of meatheads fill the weight room.On the bright side if you want a gym with new TVs and treadmills that work and are usually available this is your place!
Great Place.
Awesome place to come work out. Def the best PC around.
Currently well spaced out. Free weights are always very busy.
I love this place. Childcare for free with membership, and they have lots of fun options for kids in that room. Cardio equipment is solid (not as many machines as the West location), plus a womens only workout room which I find I like to use. Its pretty chill and a great option. Upstairs are 3 different group fitness rooms, cycle, group fitness, and a meditation room. They have meditative group classes apparently. Sounds awesome havent been but Id like to try. Plus my favorite idea: cardio cinema. They have a darkened movie theatre playing a movie on a big screen that you can watch while you jog, cycle, or elliptical. Such a cool idea. They post the schedule.
Always upgrading and/or keeping equipment in great working order. Good people own/run this place.
Free the bikes! The new spin bikes look nice, but you can’t use them unless you can make the 1 or 2 spin classes. I loved utilizing bikes to meet my training needs but unfortunately the spin room is now locked. As a paying gym member I should be able to use the gym equipment. Ive asked about the bikes and was told the old spin bikes are available to ride but the 1 available bike upstairs has a note taped to the bike saying it is in “bad” shape. The club never told members these new bikes would be locked and the website states members are able to spin on their own in the studio – which is false advertisement and a broken promise. This club is not going in a direction to satisfy their members.
My wife and I have belonged here since it was Golds Gym. I have been impressed with the updates to the facility and the equipment. The staff is super responsive and highly professional.
I started coming to the Princeton Club around February of 2018. This was right at about the time that Princeton acquired the old Golds Gym location. The Princeton Club is a great facility with friendly staff who always great you with a smile coming to and from your workout. As long as I am in Madison, I will be a Princeton Club member.
Good ol Golds gym. A really nice gym, I like it better than Princeton West by far.
I love this gym, the staff is supportive and inspiring . It has changed my life.
Spacious, with any kind of equipment I need. My husband loves the cardio cinema, and the day care people are absolutely wonderful. Open 24 hours, which means I have a place to run after 2nd shift.
Love the trainers and people there. Small family feel with all the stuff at the bigger gym!
Great Princeton Express. Good area for doing errands before or after a work out.
So far, Im loving it. Nice place to work out very clean and very friendly staff. Staff is always working to keep the place clean and has a cheery attitude.
Close to home and has the equipment, amenities, and classes I like at a great price.
Being a personal trainer and fitness enthusiast for over 10 years, I have never been to a more clean, organized, well equipped, and friendly gym in my whole life (and Ive been to multiple states). A huge selection of machine exercise equipment, a large free weights area with a powerlifting area, TRX and strong man/CrossFit like equipment, and a wide variety of group fitness classes. Bathrooms are very large and spacious with lockers, a sauna, showers, and seating areas to change. Finally, a large multi lane swimming pool for those that need to get some laps in. It may be a bit on the pricey side, but for the benefits of going to all the locations including their Xpress gyms, its worth the investment.
Clean facility with every kind of equipment you can imagine. Womens only workout room.
Clean and fun gym to workout at. Classes are amazing too.
Make a decision and just go.
Great place nice people, always clean
Great trainers, clean gym nice variety of machines!! I love this gym!
Joined right as it transitioned from Golds over to the Princeton club. The main reason I joined was due to the availability of the bike room. It was awesome to be able to go for a long ride whenever I had time in my day, which was different than the other Princeton Club locations. About a year after the transition, they have gotten new bikes and have now locked the room. When I complained directly, I was told that was Princeton Club policy. Then how come it wasnt enforced immediately upon ownership change? Had it been, I never would have gotten a membership there. What is the point of having all of these amazing bikes that are locked up, only to be used during class times that are impossible for anyone with a full-time job to attend. If cycling is a major part of your training or workouts, I advise you to pick a different gym to join.
Nice big health club. Used to be Golds Gym, but now part of Princeton Club.
Most customer service stuff is excluded to manger decision and manger is not available most of the time. bad cancellation policy. No kid friendly.
The staff is amazing & cares to each individual needs.
Ever since princeton bought golds it has been over-crowded. Good luck finding open equipment.
Staff are friendly and facility is clean, both in the equipment area and restrooms.
I was a previous golds gym member and I am really liking the direction that the Princeton club is going.
Best workout place I have ever belonged to!!!
Clean, free child care, and never over crowded.
Kids are not allowed in the hot tub which i appreciate.
Great gym. Free massage bed. Very good staff and kept very clean.
Great group classes. Instructors are awesome!
I have been attending this gym for roughly 4-5 years, starting from when it was a Golds Gym. During this time, the gym had started to decline as equipment was always broken, locker rooms torn apart, and general uncleanliness. With the buyout from Princeton Club, I had high hopes this would all change. While some good updates have been made, such as clearing more space on the second floor for equipment, fixing lockers, and staying open 24/7, the gym itself is a poor broken mess. Why does it take 4+ months to fix a leg extension machine? Why are 3/5 stairmaster machines broken? You better bring some chalk if using a barbell since all the bars have been worn down to point their smooth. The gym itself is now crazy busy during the peak hours. If youre trying to lift in the weight room and are looking to either deadlift, benchpress, or squat...youre going to be waiting a while. Dont worry though, if youre a woman you can head over to the wasted space thats Lady Golds while the rest of the members awkwardly herd together in the weight room. Or you can always hop on one of the 200 treadmills that youre paying $50+ month for.Moral of the story, if youre an avid weightlifter, find a different gym. If youre a cardio kind of person, save yourself some cash and find a smaller or cardio focused gym such as Planet Fitness.
A great addition to the Princeton Club franchise! A plethora of machines and group classes, as well as a friendly staff that is always willing to help. This particular facility is very exercise focused - with a large chunk of cardio machines, resistance machines, and free weights. They also have a nice pool and hottub! The only things one might say theyre missing are basketball and racquetball courts and a running track, but the building is packed as it is, so there is not much room for those. At any rate, if youre a member here and you want access to those sports-related activities, you can always head to the Westside and Eastside locations.
As an older woman looking to reduce the aches and pains of my bones, I find this club has everything I want .... save a plunge pool for after a sauna ... but other than that ... they have helpful staff and great support.
Well maintained good equipment Ive got a full membership to use at all of the Princeton clubs but this is the one I go to the most also the most convenient
#1 in Madison
I still like here.
Always enjoy my workouts at Princeton Club.
Like it better when it was Golds
Weights and machines conveniently placed. Makes for an efficient workout
Was interested in getting a membership but got hung up on ... twice.
Love this place.
Nice space for a quick workout. Despite its smaller size I can always get the machine I want.
Be nice if they actually unlocked the guest entrance when its supposed to be open. Also, does anyone answer the phone here?
I like how they have the building set up. It isnt everything in one big room like some of their other locations.
The Express club is typically less busy than the big club with many of the same features.
Has a lot to offer.
Preferred the gym when it was Golds, but the staff is friendly, and they have gotten some new equipment.
Great personal trainer
They take forever to fix broken equipment.
Nice facility
Expensive but good
Reasonable
It is what you make of it.
Excellent gym
My stress release zone has very good facilities
