This gym is amazing. The staff is great, Aaron was able to help me out with my membership, he gave me a tour of the gym and showed me where everything was. The quality of the gym exceeded my expectations. The equipment is really well maintained and they have equipment for anything you want to work on. Best gym I’ve gone to so far. Thank you LA fitness.

Always clean, friendly staff & never too crowded! I appreciate that there are so many choices in equipment and they have more than 1-2 of each! Cancelled at EOS because there was always lines for the cables & squat racks. I don’t have that problem here 😊 the lady at the juice bar is always so sweet! And it’s a plus that they have such an awesome kids club. My kids actually ask to go there every day 😂10/10

Been off and on with this gym for years. Honestly the best in the area. Most reliable, you know what you’re getting. Loved the staff over the years including the new guys and gals that work there. Front desk people are also super sweet for the most part!

This is an excellent gym:never crowded, super clean, friendly staff. Some of the machines are a little older, but there are actually some great ones in there that you cant find at other gyms in the area, and all the newer machines that I used at 24hour Fitness in La Costa when it was open. I definitely would recomend this gym to friends and family. 💪🏻🤙🏻

Good gym has every piece of equipment you need. Not the most fancy place but it still hasa kids club which is huge. Including a basket ball court and pool. The price is super cheap as well.

It has all the required safety procedures in place, and people were using them. The basketball and racquetball courts are still closed. I dont know about the pool. Easy parking.

Awesome facility and not overly populated making it great for access to equipment. The only negative I have is the professionalism that was displayed on April 30th, 2021 at around 5PM. The receptionist was honed in on her phone and did not make eye contact when greeting. When utilizing the thermometer to get a temperature reading, the thermometer was positioned well in excess of about a foot and a half from my forehead at which point she told me I was good to go. I know for a fact she did not get an actual reading as I have used the same instrument she did when scanning contractors in my profession. It begs the question of how many other patrons shes let into this gym with possible covid symptoms. Made me feel uneasy. Aside from that, this gym is great.

I tried out the Encinitas LA fitness location yesterday. It was alright for the most part but most of the equipment had noticeable wear compared to other LA fitness locations such as the one at oceanside. Aside from that there was enough for me to get a decent workout in. All locations dont have working water fountains due to COVID restrictions for a little while so make sure to bring extra water

Was told something on the phone and when I showed up I was hit with a bunch of feesand taxes that werent discussed when asked. Waste of my time

I became a member in 2004 and loved the services, equipment and the environment! The staff was so friendly, always ready to step up when requested and respected my privacy the rest of the time. I remained a member for a few more years and unfortunately, let my membership lapse. Now, I plan to return and hope the gym is the same quality as when I left. I give them fives stars based on my past membership. Don’t hesitate to check them out!

Not a crowd which is nice and they offer spray bottles of dissenfectint which you use on the machines. Beware though because no one uses them! Feels like Im the only one. Wish they would make it mandatory like they do masks Covid or not

After 4 loyal years of being a member here, I’ve had a horrible experience cancelling my membership. In November, I inquired at the front desk about cancelling my membership. After changing my login and working my way through their non-user friendly website, I finally got to a confirmation screen letting me know that I would be charged for the following month (December) since I was inside of the 5 day auto-pay feature.Fast forward to yesterday, when I noticed that I was still being charged for March membership dues. When I called their front desk, they now advised me to drive in to the location to speak with the gym manager, Olivia.Her response was that because I had no screen shot (and didn’t check for email confirmation after cancellation) that I could not be refunded the 3 months extra of non-usage.She did confirm, however, that I had logged on to reset my account successfully mid-November, and also that I had not used the facility since then.Totally frustrated by the lack of customer experience empathy and lack of appreciation for being a loyal and friendly member of their business for years.She even charged me for all of April too (today is March 2) so basically I’ve paid for 5 months of non-use.I’ve never written a bad review on Google, but this experience and service warranted caution for prospective patrons.

Top class service and diligence in making sure the gym feels right for the individual and always are prompt when concerns/issues surface. Diligent and proactive and seem to always look for ways to resolve concerns one may have. If youre looking for a new gym contact either one of them!

No complaints on the actual gym. Trying to cancel during covid...you either have to go into the gym or find a printer and mail a cancellation request. You have been closed for months and couldnt figure out a better process? Shame on you for making it difficult to cancel

The one i is the LA fitness the one I go I only go to walk through it go to my physical therapy at Spine and Sport Physical Therapy .I’m not a member but just walk to it glad I am allowed to use the The equipment as long as I’m at my appointment for my therapy appointment and got a lot of equipment is a really nice place they got a great big huge pool a handball a racquetball court they are lots of lots of weightlifting equipment that you can use if you need to Trainer to help you with your equipment or show you how to work it .they have there snack bar there. A place very big very huge

I have worked out here for 7 years. Great weights, elipticals, stair climbers, recumbent and stationary bikes, treadmills. Each have individual TVs. Personal trainers with separate area and equipment without the big sell ~ you can come and go as you please even when not having your session! Large room for classes, basketball and racquetball, too. J love the spin classes myself. Nice pool and fantastic jacuzzi. Great gym for the price!

The lady that cleans the facility at nights is so rude, I Believe her name is Lily. Shes been so rude to me and other people Ive seen her interact with.I normally dont like to complain and I try to mind my own but this time she went to far. She always mad dog us like she wishes we wouldnt use the bathroom or make any type of mess around the gym or facility.I will no longer keep my mouth quiet if management DOENST speak to her in regards about her demeanor Ill have to reach out to Corporate. If Nadeen (manager) doesnt Do Anything about it

All positive experiences, except front door and staff could make better attempts to say hi, or acknowledge members once joined. My favorite gym ever made you feel welcomed and missed if you hadnt been in a few weeks.Update....August 2016, much better staff regarding acknowledging the members! This gym is very poorly run. The pool and hot tub have been out of commission for over two months. The ceiling in the pool area is full of holes and nobody can give you a straight answer, much less the same answer about what is going on and when it might get fixed. The whole place is dirty, especially the locker rooms and equipment is often not working and takes a long time to be repaired. Dont join!!!!

My wife and I Go there to distress and have a great workout and the people are so nice and friendly and we are appreciate for the All the workers they are like family and friends 😳😊🐣

While they have a clean and relatively new equipment. The place needs to be sprayed down with Fabreez, hate that smell of old sweat and rotting rubber mats which permeates these kinds of places. It is a very corporate environment. The trainers that I met acted as if they were physical therapists which they are not even close to in knowledge. Their angle is to sell you on way over priced personal training sessions. That is why they want you to connect with them upon your first joining, so they can sales pitch you. Thats what I got. I got next to nothing from my fitness assessment. It is corporate run and dictated, none of the staff or the manager has the power to change or adjust anything so if any of the employees tell you they will do something for you or check into something or change something it will not happen. The hours between 4 - 7:30pm are always crowed and it can be hard to get your work out in. Many of the patrons do not re-rack the weights they use as well. LA. Fitnesss answer is to come by before closing and put these things away instead of getting after the rude people who leave sweat all over the equipment and weights just as they last used them. It would be nice if some would come and wipe off the yuck of the stretching mats. but again if you ask someone there about this they will pass the buck.The pool is nice (one of the main reasons I joined) but again always crowed at prime time. The cleaning staff does do a good job- dont get me wrong. They seem to be over worked and they go through them about every 6months or sooner. Maybe they should have more cleaning staff??? especially during busy hours, but will that happen. Nope, that would cut into profits too much. So if you dislike the kind of places where muscle bound body builders dominate the weight lifting and especially the free weights and especially from 4 - 7:30 (yep this is when everyone wants to work out and swim) you will want to avoid this gym.

Best gym for the price in our area. I have been a member since it opened and have never had a bad experience with the trainers or the clients. An excellent place to make your home for working out.

Ugh, this place frustrates me they seem to do everything as cheap as possible one of the reasons Ive joined is the swimming pool in the jacuzzi Jacuzzi helps my back after a year-and-a-half of absence the thing I noticed glaringly is the jacuzzi is loaded loaded with chlorine its actually giving me eye problems days later dry skin and the smell it seems their answer to cleaning is just more chlorine its sad and I wished their service actually cleaned it more often.when Im in the gym it seems to me at least 50% of the people dont put away their weights that theyve used and of course nobody enforces that the other thing they really really need is some dust mops and some deodorizer (a must have/get on the deodorizer) for the mats that people use for stretching and sit ups there is hair sweat and other nasty things 80% of the time, itd be very easy to keep a light dust mop nearby (like a swiffer type thing) that we could use and then just lean up or hang up out of the way but that might cost this place too much money or the management would see it as liability of some crazy kind

Best gym around Encinitas for only $30/month. I play basketball and racquetball there. Theres also so many machines and weights. Never have to wait. Best kept secret.

Jake and Andrew were extremely helpful, accommodating, polite, and friendly. And, the facilities are great. At $29.99 per month ($1/day), I would recommend this gym to anybody. LA FItness Encinitas has well over 100 machines, lots of stair climbers, lots of punching bags, a huge olympic pool, nice locker rooms, with wood lockers, and big showers + a very roomy sauna. 5 Stars, A++++

As good as it gets for a gym on a budget. Open till 11 on weeknights, closes at 8 on weekends. Coed jacuzzi and pool, locker rooms feature saunas, and usually not totally packed. While they have most equipment, there are some machines that lack when compared to other chains. Besides the salesy-personal trainers, staff is nice enough.

The pool and jacuzzi has been closed since Thanksgiving of 2019 every time I call they tell me itll open in 2 weeks every two weeks I call and they tell me two more weeks call today February 1st 2020 and they said two weeks very disappointed terrible service staff unfriendly. The pool and jacuzzi are still closed as of March 11th thats about 4 months call today they said maybe the end of the month absolutely ridiculous.

The facility has everything you need and the nationwide locations are convenient, but dont expect much in terms of customer service from the staff. There is clearly no emphasis from management on the employees to greet members as they come in and out; youre pretty much just another monthly payment.

I have been coming here for about a year. After I moved further away I still come here for my daily work out. The place is fairly big and the main work out equipment for doing squats and dead lifts are generally available.

Its a joke! Like 90% of the gyms they think they can entice you with all sorts of amenities likes pool, spa, basketball courts, or some repainted old equipment. Then they try and charge you over $30 a month AFTER you pay some outstanding expensive initiation fee of $150 or more. Get over yourselves.

This place is in need of some serious renovation. The basketball gym floor has multiple dead spots, broken and splintered planks in the middle of the court, and the lights are different brightness not to mention that the ballasts are so old, the sound from the lights cant be drowned out by headphones. The machines are super old with broken and torn covers on the pads which cut into your legs on the leg curl machine. The box jumps are so old that they are likely 3 generations old. Every other gym has moved on the foam boxes and they are still on the older metal frame pads that cant be stacked. Feedback has been given and nothing has been done. Disappointing at best

I personally dont have any issues with the equipment or facilities. The problem with LA Fitness is their staff and management. I was promised numerous times that I would receive a month free of charge after the insulting introductory/evaluative training session I encountered when I first joined. Months passed by and I never received the free month that I was promised. I called for the 3rd time to remind them of the issue and they say that they cant give me a month free of charge and that there was no record in their system of the issue I had (even though the manager said he had made notes in their system). HORRIBLE customer service. Not to mention that they were supposed to put my kids club membership on hold when I first signed up and failed to do so.Onto their kids club issues... They say they can watch your kids starting at 3 months old and up and that all of their kids club employees are certified to do so. So after realizing that I was being charged for the service, I decided to give it a try. I left my 6 month old son with a young teenage girl in their kids club while I went to work out. 20 minutes into my workout I was called in because my son was crying. After talking to the girl for a little bit, she tells me that she has NO EXPERIENCE watching after kids. She said she is learning how to watch them. Ummmm No thanks. Also she was the only one in the kids club with no one else there who may have been able to assist her.Overall LA Fitness is not a gym that I would recommend to anyone. Ever. There are much better choices out there than this garbage establishment.

The people are friendly but the trainer didnt explain the monthly training costs clearly and I was charge way more than I thought. It took like more than a month to get my money back. I wasnt too happy about this. In addition, when I decided to cancel I had paid 2 months in advance so when I did cancel my service was still active for another month and a half. Also, they close early, especially on weekends, closed on holidays and the tall guy from Encinitas CA never greeted me maybe because of my ethnic background.

I had a recent membership experience with Jose Jiminez. Found him to be extremely polite and sensitive to my unique situation, which I really appreciated. The staff have been very friendly every time Ive shown up - its a great neighborhood gym with plenty of machines and weights!

Recently renovated, this gym features a pool, dry sauna, and racket ball courts. The equipment is. mostly in good condition and various exercise classes are available to members. A snack bar and a chiropractor are also in house.

We have been using this gym for over 8 months after moving from AZ. We had to verify residency in the beginning and thought we were good to go, until Tuesday May 22 when Erin(operations manager) harassed us and told me I wasnt allowed to use this gym. We handed over our key tags and were told to contact corporate. After hours of back and forth our membership was finally fixed..... or so we thought. We called this morning Wednesday May 24 to verify that our key tags would be ready to pick up and that we could use the gym today. Erin continues to harass us about the situation and still try to upgrade us, then after being told she should just fix the issue and work on customer service skills she stated she had 12 years management experience and HUNG UP. Back to corporate we called to find out that it was in fact already handled and we were good to go. Therefore she took it upon her self to just continue to harass us for her own enjoyment as we should have just been told that it was all taken care of and to go ahead and pick up our tags. Complete non sense and extreamly childish. What should have been a 2-5 min fix turned into embarrassment on our part and over 24 hours of a pure headache.

It is a Mexican Dinasty; cleaning crew,managers, front Desk, sellers...everybody...is from the other side with lack of professionalism, not polite, dark at the time to explain and tricky...please! Find another gym..if you dont want to receive an AK-47 shots of constantly phone calls and overcharge..

They will happily take your $490 membership renewal fee, but if on the same day you want to replace your 2 year old raggedy membership card that scratches your fingers everytime you grab your keys with a new one, dont expect anyone to throw it in for free... Sorry man, thats 5 bucks. They are lucky they have racketball courts otherwise theres plenty of other places with chubby trainers and average customer service.

I have been going to this gym since 2001 steadily. I have seen alot of turnover in staff/especially the trainers. I am not impressed with the trainers, One was rude and didnt watch me closely and yelled at me when I didnt warn him i was dropping a weight. I go for the fact its close by, has a pool, weights, elliptical machines and good amount of weight machines.I agree, never listen to a trainer over whether you can lose or not lose weight. The cleaning staff is always there and cleaning, and polite. I wish they had towel service and didnt blast the radio in the locker rooms since most people are trying to return phone calls on their cell phone. I also the San Marcos location and enjoy it.

I am not one to share so the fact that I am is significant in itself. I own a company with a good amount employees and have been looking at several gyms for a corporate membership. Today I got invited to go the LA FITNESS in Encinitas. As I was waiting for my friend to show up, I asked the front desk person if it was possible for me to go to the bathroom. The manager Angie chimed in and informed me that because I hadnt signed a liability waiver that I couldnt use the facilities. That in of itself was not the issue but rather the insanely cantankerous attitude of this manager. Forget the fact that I was looking to spend significant dollars on a corporate membership, what about customer service and some simple decency? Not only did I not sign up, I went online and saw they had MANY complaints about this particular manager and lcation. The one solace I took out of the experience is that dear Angie will have to spend every day of her miserable life with herself. Good riddance.

This gym has everything from free weights to machines, various cardio equipment, racquet ball courts, lap pool, spin classes, basketball court, large exercise room for various classes and locket rooms with all amenities...it is well kept up and clean.

If I could give less than one star I would. Absolutely horrible customer service. I came to this location while on vacation. I work at the LA Fitness in my home state and the sales associate I spoke to accused me of lying about it. They wouldnt let me workout, but offered to sign me up for a FULL membership. All they want is your money. Avoid at all costs.

I joined the Encinitas location when it first opened and am happy that it only takes a few minutes to get there from my home. Overall the front desk staff have been friendly through the years with some more outgoing than others. I generally go in midday and find most weight machines available when I want to use them. Occasionally a machine might be out of order, but they are fairly prompt in getting them repaired. I have found the place to be pretty clean. There are always a few people who work out and dont pick up after themselves leaving tissue, empty water bottles and free weights sitting around. I see their maintenance man regularly vacuuming, dusting and cleaning windows. For a year or two I worked out at the San Marcos location as I worked in that area and it was kept up nicely as well. When I returned to the Encinitas location in 2011, they had just remodeled and the gym looked great. New cardio machines with televisions were a nice addition. I havent used their personal trainers in years so I cant comment on them. I have occasionally taken classes and have been happy with the instructors, but mainly go there to do weight workouts. Overall I am happy with LA Fitness.

But in reality the door was just left openIn doing this i hope to get them to buy an actual lock, i mean cmon, theyre like 5.99 at a CVS

I was there for a months membership; apparently it costs $150. Instead of taking a months membership, the guy wanted me to sign up for their program without contracts. In each program, they take 1st and last months payment right away, so when you want to discontinue, you would have already paid even the next months payment. This is a cheap and dirty way to do the business, but clearly, naive people fall for it.Every person in here calls himself a manager, which I thought was incredibly funny. These managers have no control on anything that goes in here. Although I told him that I know enough about LA fitness, he still wanted me to check out the whole facility before we could discuss memberships. That was a waste of time! I had to walk out of the place to stop wasting time.

Ive been a member here for some 15 years, I dont appreciate being rushed out of the gym in the middle of the afternoon, so that they may close early on Christmas Eve day. I heard some others members belly Aching about it also. This is the one day people get off earl from work and need that work out, and now theyre shut out. If your going to close early how about 5:00 PM, or 4:00 PM, but not in the middle of the day, Come on L.A. Corporate, lets cater to the membership and not yourselves. Theres already to much self entitlement attitude going on out there already.

I first visited LA Fitness Encinitas on May 1st and it was very acceptable. Equipment worked and my travel membership allowed me access.I returned in August and the gym was completely remodeled (July 7th?), new equipment, better layout, new locker rooms, etc. The staff has been friendly EVERY time weve visited-7 times.I just cant figure out why they only have 1 GIANT swiss ball for the past 4 wks. I was told 3 wks ago new ones were on the way.I recommend LA Fitness as a good price, good equipment (all working), and extra features, pool, racquetball, basketball.
