We have used this company for as long as I can remember. We have been in our house for over 35 years. We have complete faith in their knowledge and there service. Yesterday our air conditioning went out. We called Theresa and today at 9 Gavin showed up and fixed it. To me that is very responsive. Every employee from Erv Smith that has worked on our home has been friendly. A couple of years ago our furnace died. We were having a large party and we were panicking. We called Steve Meinholz, he was there the same day, suggested the new furnace we should get based on the size of our house and the following day the furnace was in and the party went on without a hitch.I also have to mention that Noel Smith and his Family has been very generous in the Chippewa Valley with time and money. I would and have recommended them to friends and relatives.

What can I say? These guys are the absolute pinnacle of my HVAC experiences. I needed to replace our AC unit that was apparently installed sometime around 1987; it was roughly 33 years old! They installed a brand new AC unit inside and out, for a price far better than I ever imagined. Efficient, friendly and did a hell of a job.But the real amazing thing is that three days before my AC unit was scheduled to be installed my existing blower actually died! I was a little worried because I knew Id need that fixed before the AC unit could be installed. They had someone out same day to replace that and now I have better airflow in my house than ever.Ive worked with some absolutely wretched HVAC places in the past and I can tell you that Erv Smith is far and away the best thing going in Eau Claire. They have a customer for life. Thanks again for everything.

Called the 24/7/365 number and had the on call tech call us back. They say they service All brands but was unwilling to come out and help service a new system we installed that had a bad flare seal from factory. Said it would cost a lot for us and wasnt willing to spend the time to help us even though the weekend heat was in the 90s. We were willing to pay to have it repaired and running. Not a happy potential customer.

These guys are great!Just over a week ago I hired a different company for cleaning and inspection of my existing furnace. I used someone else because of a coupon on the back of a grocery receipt. They found that the heat exchanger in my furnace was cracked and told me they were going to shut my furnace down, leaving me with no heat in early December. I called Erv Smith Services while the other guys were still in the house. I was lucky to speak to Jake McSorley who told me he’d be over in a half an hour. Jake confirmed that the heat exchanger was indeed cracked and either had to be replaced or put in a new furnace. Since my furnace was 25 years old, we opted for a new one. Jake was able to arrange for a new furnace to be put in the very next morning. He was there, along with his service person Chris, and the new furnace was up and running by noon. It’s an excellent furnace and excellent price, but more important is the caring and true professionalism by Jake and Chris and all the employees at Erv Smith. By far the best, and I recommend them highly.

About 2 years ago I had Erv Smith install a new Trane furnace and A/C unit. They did a fantastic job and I have been very pleased with these new units. Recently, we had an inspection and cleaning of the furnace. They did a very thorough job cleaning, inspecting and checking for proper operation. Very pleased with their work and would highly recommend them.

I decided to do a review of this business after receiving a quote from them on Monday. Please keep in mind I did not end up choosing to use them so the review of any workmanship cant be provided but I wanted to review none the less as a local guide. Setting up an appointment and choosing a time was super easy and very flexible so that was a huge plus to me. I recieved a pre appointment arrival call 30 min out from Stephen to confirm the appointment so that was also great. He came out and was very knowledgeable about the systems and what would work best for our home. Towards the end the conversation kind of turned to how busy they were and availability of units due to covid. At that time he told me that getting units was very difficult and it was kind of you get what is available if you could even get them. I was a little suprised that a pre check of any inventory wasnt done before my appointment but I chocked that up to ever changing availability as he stated. We continued to chat and I just asked what a normal unit like this would cost me for install or at least a ballpark of what to expect. He stated it was probably somewhere in between $3,000 and $4,000 which lined up to other quotes I recieved. We finished up and he said he would be in touch. A few days later I recieved my quote and only to find it was for almost $6,200, 2 times what he thought! I was super surprised. He proceeded to say in his email that a 24,000 btu unit was all that was available vs the 15,000 he was thinking. Again, I was just a little suprised and ultimately I will be chosing a different company due to availability of product and price. But the customer service was great and I wanted to at least leave a review. My only reason for a 4 start review is because of product availability.

Eric is almost like family, he arrives about twice a year. My kids and I always greet him with smiles. Erv Smith is a great family oriented company!

We havent been using them long but they seem to always be fair and honest about all services. May not be the cheapest around, but that being said, cheapest is not always the best!

I never got my estimate! I even called back after 5 weeks or so to give them one more chance and I was told I would be called back by the end of the day and it never happened.

We woke up with a broken furnace in the middle of January. Within 2 hours of calling, Erv Smith had a technician out and our furnace fixed. Excellent to work with.

Left a message with their website at 9pm, they called early the next morning and had a tech out to our house to diagnose our furnace problem before 9:30am. Super prompt. Quickly diagnosed the problem and had replacement parts in stock. Had the whole thing taken care of before 11am. They told me their service call fees right up front.

I had a new furnace and AC unit installed last year. The installers did top quality work, everything went smooth and all systems function perfect. After about 15 months their service department called to see if I wanted a free system cleaning and tuneup. The technician arrived at the scheduled time and went right to work. She gave my system a through checkup and cleaning. If I ever need service I will definitely call on the skilled staff at Erv Smith.

The service technician was highly trained and knowledgeable of my heating system which he was performing preventative maintenance on. He paid expert attention to every aspect of the systems performance and showed me that the performance parameters were within in the manufacturers specifications. We had our annual service check, and then we had our vent system cleaned. We just finished a major remodel and had drywall dust and sawdust everywhere! Theo did both services and was so thorough with everything he did. He was on time, polite and considerate. He also cleaned up everything after doing the duct work. We were very pleased.

Great customer service. My central AC unit stopped working last night. Called a competitor who had no openings that day but could do an after hours visit for a diagnosis for $175 minimum charge. So I called Erv Smith who had a service guy (Carl) out here by mid afternoon. Carl not only “diagnosed” it in five minutes but had it repaired and running well within an hour. The cost was way less than the minimum charge of the competitor. The A/C unit is old so I asked about needing to replace it. He was upfront and honest and did not push a sale. When it does need replacing they’ll be the first I call for a quote. I called them twice to confirm my address and both times I spoke to the same people without having to hold one second. Very efficient. Thanks guys!

Twice I have been saved by Erv Smith Services! I have an 21 year old furnace which needed a induction blower last year and a blower motor this year. Both times Erv Smith had the parts in stock on hand. They knew I was in bad shape both times and was vulnerable to price gouging but was never over charged. The longest we have been without heat was an hour. Hands down best place to get the parts to do the job yourself when you can! Thank you Tony!

I made a phone call at 7:00 am reporting a furnace that was not working and before 7:30 am the same day a technician was at our house to review and fix the furnace. He also offered suggestions to to have our equipment run more efficiently.Approximately 1 week later Angel arrived at our house to clean our furnace and repair any old parts necessary.

Jake and his coworker were fabulous! They had to wait for me in the morning as I was taking an unexpected child to Summer school and I was so worried they’d leave like so many workers have before! But they were prepping and getting ready when I arrived. It is so hard paying money for duct cleaning BUT I feel these two were SO professional and showed so many before and after pictures I rest knowing the air we are breathing is cleaner! If you are looking to get a furnace replaced, definitely include this company for requesting a free estimate. In all of my interactions they were extremely punctual, flexible, and very courteous. Absolutely no sale pressure either. I had five bids from heating contractors in Eau Claire for a furnace replacement, and these guys were incredible! While all the others only gave me a couple options to evaluate pricing, Erv Smith gave me four proposals. The pricing here for a furnace replacement was $200 - $1,000 less than all of the other bids. And I got the best furnace here, that as an added bonus qualified for $250 in rebates (none of the other contractors had deals in the same price range that also qualified for rebates. With the price differential noted above, I was able to get a 96% efficiency 2-stage furnace installed. All of the other contractors only offered between 92% -96% efficiency 1-stage furnaces in my price range. A furnace replacement is expensive as it is, and Erv Smith helped me immensely by coming in well under my budget and above my expectations. As an added bonus, they are the only contractor that also offered a complimentary tune-up one year from installation.

We just had a most pleasant service call visit with Cody from Erv Smith. He called ahead to inform us he was on his way and then arrived promptly. Cody proceeded to rollout a floor covering just in case things got messy.Our gas fireplace, which was purchased from Erv Smith, was not lighting and after reading the manual we thought it might be the batteries that control the ignitor. But not knowing for sure we wanted a professional to take a look. Cody carefully dismantled the logs and located the battery pack while I watched. He was very informative about the inserts functions and use of gas in general and so easy to chat with. This was a learning experience for me.It was indeed simply a battery concern which, of course, was a relief. We were charged accordingly. Last night my 91 year old mother had her furnace go out. This all happened during a huge snowstorm and after normal business hours.I was extremely impressed with the service. I immediately received a call from technician Eric who patiently talked us through trouble shooting by phone and with pictures. We were able to avoid a service call as he was very knowledgeable and knew what the problem was right away.We have used Erv Smith over the years and have found the service to be consistently excellent from the polite and prompt initial phone contact to the solution. Weve been purchasing the energy savings protection plan for a few years now, and we love it! ESSI takes care of pretty much everything. I dont have to remember to call them to make the appointments to have the furnace and a/c checked. They call me. ESSIs service techs have always been professional and have done a thorough job. If I have questions, the techs have always been straightforward and honest. They also leave a tune-up procedure list showing everything they did which is helpful, especially if I have questions after the tech has gone. We highly recommend ESSI.

Very impressed with how thorough Angel was in maintaining our air conditioner and furnace. She also gave us some good tips of what we could do to keep everything operating smoothly.

They came the same day to fix my gas heater. It was nothing just a pilot ignitor. A little expensive for what they fixed. But same day in the middle of winter. Im ok with it. The guy who stoped by, I felt like I could watch him work on my heater and not feel like I was a bother being there watching. That was cool I felt.

Service by the technician was excellent, but the price was ridiculous. We were charged $85 just to come to our house and to install an igniter box that took 40 minutes total cost us another $321. Upon calling a competitor with the exact same box, labor, & trip fee the cost would have been $80 less. When I called this company to inquire about the over-pricing I was told that this is a flat rate charge and doesnt matter how long it takes the technician. I would advise checking around before going with this company.
