As a lifetime patron of the “Great Clips” of the world, and then a year of cutting my own hair due to the pandemic, I thought I’d treat myself to a barbershop ahead of my nephews Confirmation. I chose Main Street on a whim, from the six others just in the downtown area alone. What a great experience! Carmella was helpful in figuring out the best cut to work with my thinning hair. I can actually go out without a hat now. I will be returning.

My day started with intentions of getting alot of things done on my checklist. Stop 1 & 2 did nothing except want me to wait for hours. Stop 3 was Main Street Barber and got right in with amazing service and a great end result. They are very professional and respect all of the ever changing rules. My son and I have been coming here for 8 yrs and we absolutely love the shops attention to detail. Aside from the awesome cuts by everyone, the owner Gina really goes out of her way to make customers feel welcome. She provides coffee and gourmet donuts and coffee cake on weekends for you while you wait. The staff here are very engaging and love to chat while they make you look your best. My son always has a great cut from Laura. I recently tried Peter their new barber and he is fantastic. Make your appointments and give them a try. Dont forget to ask for a punch card. The owner Gina gives a very detailed and well done haircut. She truely is a master of her craft .The cost for a mens haircut was 22 dollars which is the average for this area. The only problem I had was that they are cash only and they do not have the option to wash your hair afterwardards. Otherwise its a good establishment and would recommend to others.

I followed Peter Vitale from a barbershop in Chicago. I travel 28 miles/40 minutes on average every 3 weeks to see Peter. That shows you how amazing Peter is at what he does. Hes the best barber Ive ever had and when you find someone as good as him, you dont move on to another barber. Hes a true master of his craft. I met the new staff he works with and they are great! Real family oriented shop where they know you by first name and never forget who you are. Laura and Gina are friednly and great to talk too and I purchased the hair product that they sell and its worked out great. Right by the trainstation in downtown Downers Grove. Great place!

Ok so I gave 2 stars instead of 1 because customer service wasnt bad. I went tonight for a straight razor shave, my whole face. Its been a while so I made an appointment for 730 and went in. The older guy was busy with a customer and he was originally going to do the shave but he was being held up with a customer so he suggested the girl to do it. I didnt want to be rude and say No! The guys reading know what Im talking about. So I sat down ready to go. Im pretty easy going and let her shape my side burns how ever she wanted. She trims me up and starts shaving and I could see she was in a rush ready to go home. 30 seconds in she sliced me real good, like half an inch long and bleeding well. I pretended not to notice, and right after that I could see her confidence was gone. She kept going and hands shaking because at this point she was nervous. She made small talk and lightened the mood which helped a lot because now I was nervous which isnt a good spot when youre sitting in that seat. She got my lip a couple good times and other cheek 2 decent times few spots on my neck and chin, she finished up and I kinda just glanced in the mirror to save the awkward moment and went straight to pay. Gave her a 5 dollar tip anyway bc I felt bad she was put in that spot. It wasnt that she was inexperienced, it was that the guy who let her do it, that made me kinda mad. He shouldve let her practice on him. I didnt get my hair cut because I have long hair. I have no negative feeling towards her just the guy that stood there and let it happen, and suggested it in the first place knowing full well she probably wasnt ready. I guess moral of the story is just be rude and save yourself some blood.

Not a bad barber shop but not a great one I’ve been in many times the guy gives the best haircuts, i cannot speak for all the lady’s but I had one cut my hair thinking it would be the same as the gentleman to find out at the end she doesn’t line people up like what the f.. you tell someone that at the end and then charge me full price still like I could have went to sports clips or super clips and have paid half the price for samething since cutting hair is nothing special just the line up is the difficult part,, I’m so mind blown willl probley not be back hair cuts are not worth money

I called and They say they cut african American hair,,,, DONT do it. I was desperate but never again. My sons lining, he didnt get all the hair. How is that possible? Dont say you can do something and you cant !! I wasted my money and time.

The new management and Sergio are a welcomed change. If you need some serious manscaping come to Sergio. Fades, linings, hot towel, lay flat straight razor hot lather shave, beard sculpting and hell do it without shaky hands. Does not dissapoint. You will look like you belong on the cover of GQ after Sergio does you good. Dont believe the hype of the so called for men Sports Salons. They couldnt even get my sideburns straight. And they wont even put on the game like they claim because they have to keep it on ESPN. Go to a real barbershop....like Main Street Barber Shop in Downers Grove.
