This place was nice when I moved in 2 years ago it has gone down the drain the leasing office stealing money. We have been through to many management companies to count they don’t keep up the place at all the elevators are so nasty none of the washers or dryers work. Save your money move somewhere else

This is by far the biggest joke of an apartment building. I have not had a single good experience in this facility since being here. The fact that 2 out of 3 elevators are down frequently, and you have to wait a whole 30 minutes to even got on one, is hilariously comical. I would not recommend a single person to this apartment, they continue to make empty promises on a better experience here will I’ve been here since March of 2020 and we’ve gone through 4 YES I repeat 4 management companies!! Not a single one of them has made a difference, trash everywhere, renovated hallways that haven’t been cleaned since last summer, security… WAIT what security? They practically let anyone in here, guest or not. If you want a safe and reliable place to live, trust me this ain’t it.

The broken elevators return, AGAIN. I was counting the days it been broken but Ive since lost count. Lets just say its been months now. Lines form in the lobby for people waiting to get into their apartment. There is of course another elevator they could enable to relieve traffic, but they wont. The other elevator sits unused while people wait 10 minutes for the one working elevator to slog up and back down. Just for it to fill up and have to wait for it to make another round. One of the broken elevators is caused by a broken door in the basement floor. If they disabled its ability to go to the basement we would have 2 mostly working elevators

Everyone working concierge is outstanding. Ive never seen pests and the common areas are generally clean. Finger crossed they will implement recycling at some point and fix the call box for the gate.

I just left the Jeffersonian Houze and already miss it. I had an amazing time living there. The staff was so helpful and friendly. The facilities were fantastic. And the view...perfection! Easy bike ride to downtown Detroit or Grosse Pointe for access to restaurants, bars, grocery stores, etc. If I wasnt moving out of state, I would stay there forever - cant say enough good things about it.

I really enjoying living here! Signed the same day I saw my unit. Got a HUGE discount for signing same day! Gated parking lot. Pets are allowed! Balcony is a runway! We over view the Detroit River and can see Canada. Rent is very affordable. Office staff are chill. They are REAL PEOPLE, meaning if you treat them with respect and ease they mirror it back! Very understanding about payments. Giant pool, with sweet patio area. They honestly offer a lot of leeway when it comes to rent. I recommend this place to all my friends. They also have a referral program that give existing residence a nice reward. $$

Im giving two stars because of all the wonderful staff. They go out of there way with what they can. I technically was supposed to move in 6/15. However, I could not because you have to reserve elevators weeks in advance I was told. I think thats horrible. Why even let people sign a lease knowing they cannot bring furniture into apartment? So, as I come into my apartment it was dirty. They stated they could come in and clean the next day early in the am. So getting into my apartment on 6/16 so excited because I can finally rest. Well, they only got the dust out of the cabinets. Bathroom still dirty. Tabletops still dirty. Then the air does not work. No running water in the bathroom sink. The patio door doesnt close. Im at a lost for words. On top of that fixtures are not completed. The toilet is a hot mess. Looks like low income housing instead of luxury living. I take that back I have never saw a bathroom this bad in a low income housing setting.

I lived here for about 4 and a half years and experienced many changes and many headaches. I will say, most of my grievances were corrected (and in some cases over-corrected which included a discount on rent) but they have a long way to go until they can really claim to be luxury living. Im giving two stars because of these constant frustrations. If they didnt make it so difficult to live peacefully there, I would give them a full 5 stars. When the building was purchased and new management was brought in, most of the older tenants on fixed income left because of the insane rent increase. This meant that the building went from being nice and quiet to really rowdy and random hours - you could never know when you were going to have to deal with loud music, or screaming matches. The walls are pretty thick so it takes a lot to hear through them, but some residents were extremely loud and even warranted me calling the police on what I suspected were some domestic disputes turned violent. No buildings are without pests... I didnt see a SINGLE BUG my first two years there. Not one. When the new company came in, I had a CONSTANT and repetitive issue with roaches. Lots of them. It was extremely stressful. The management was understanding and hired a team to come in and take care of it but they made an even bigger mess and damaged some of my belongings. I received a $500 credit to my rent for that. They have been upgrading the building but it has been taking forever. Honestly for about 2 years now... The hallways are worse than theyve ever been, the lobby is full of cheap tacky furniture, and the exterior gate rarely works which means anyone has access to the parking garage. Fortunately I never had a break-in, but I know others who had. The concierge is rarely helpful and anyone can walk in without checking in. The one exception is Shauna - she was fantastic and was the only friendly staff member I enjoyed seeing. I will miss her! This is getting long but heres a list of some other things that happened - some issues were resolved and some werent:- Constant trash piles in the parking garage because theres no easy way to take your trash out to the dumpsters. Theyve been promising a chute but nothing has happened.- The construction team once MOVED my brand new parked car without my consent or knowledge while I was on vacation. I still have no idea how they did it or if they caused any damage. Got a credit for that one, too.- They spray painted the balconies with white paint and got it all over my new black patio furniture. Got a credit for that, too.- They cut down a bunch of old pine trees that provided tons of privacy and blocked out noise from the park across the street. There was no reason for this.- The GOD AWFUL blue sign on top of the building is not only not in compliance with a city ordinance regarding unnecessary light pollution, but its also hideous and casts blue light all over the park and adjacent buildings. Its extremely tacky.- The animals allowed in the building will pee/poo in the elevator and residents rarely clean it up. In fact, residents rarely clean up any animal waste, including in all of the outdoor spaces... watch your step.- They have changed management companies 5 times since Ive lived there. The new building owner has changed it 4 times in the last few years. Theyve all been terrible and the people in the office (some have remained from company to company) are rude and unprofessional.- It took me and extra 45 days to receive my security deposit after it was owed to me. I had to call and email constantly and finally had to go pick it up instead of having it mailed.- Fires occurred every so often in the building and I was rarely aware. I heard about one of them on Snapchat of all places. No emails were sent out, no texts, nothing.- They are notorious for deleting reviews and comments off of Facebook and their websites - so Ill check this every so often and repost if necessary. Keep an eye out for FAKE reviews, too - they post lots of those.

Loved it at first, but as the new management and ownership came through it became clear that they only wanted to squeeze out people through price increases. ($100+ increase with short notice) saw far too many residents that had lived there for decades pushed out. Not only did they raise rents, but they changed what was covered in utilities. You have to pay for everything here (water, sewer, gas etc.) And they wanted us to pay more for trash pick-up.

I have lived here since moving to Detroit in 2015 - the building has changed ownership since then and is undergoing some very positive improvements. First of all the staff understands customer service - the small concerns that I have shared were handled professionally and promptly. I feel like I have a kind of family in the staff, from Joy in the office to LaShawna and Joe at the desk welcoming me home, to Ric and Joe in Maintenance really caring if everything is good with me and my apartment. The Fitness center that was added is my very favorite thing - I use it every day and it is like having a privates luxury club. The views, privacy, quiet and wonderful balconies speak for themselves. I clearly like it here a lot. Thanks all that make it special.Richard Leech

I moved here in November 2018, and I love the apartment building and my apartment, but the new management has been making my life here miserable since they started in March 2019.I have never received a proper invoice or receipt from them for payment of my rent or utilities. The online system they’re using reflected charges and payments that were not in the correct balances that I owed, and did not reflect the amounts that were paid by me. When they took over, I started getting notices on my door every month for varying unpaid rent amounts, and an eviction notice if I do not pay, despite how hard I work to pay my rent on time and in full each month. This actually caused me to go to my bank and purchase personal checks solely to pay my rent so I will have proper documentation.I emailed multiple times to resolve this issue ever since. I took time off work to meet with one manager in the office. She noticed something was not right with my ledger and then never responded to my emails following our meeting. Come to find out she does not work in our office anymore, and after my continuous emails, I was contacted by someone else in the office. Took the time to come in AGAIN to meet with a new lady, showed my proof of payments from my bank statements and check stubs, and she graciously credited my ledger back to 0 balance, finally in october 2019.Here I am in november 2019 after my lease has renewed. I paid my slightly higher rent amount plus my utilities in full on Nov 1, and of course I received another unpaid rent letter under my door. I went online to check my ledger, which should have had 0 balance, and there were multiple charges listed that did not add up to my rent amount, and I was charged twice for my covered parking spot, which alone is $100/month. (Please see other reviews for the conditions that we park in for this astronomical amount, this is a long review so I’ll spare my story on this topic). I have also received notice that we will be forced to use this online system in January 2020, and checks will no longer be accepted for rent payment. So basically we will be forced to pay whatever hidden charges they make up on our online ledgers, or pay late after they resolve any discrepancy, if they ever do.They will say they tried to call you, but I have never received a call from anyone in that office regarding any of this, or any other issue. I always include my current phone number in my emails, which they never respond to.At this point, I feel harassed since they took over. I am a hard working person that pays my rent on time despite the issues, and I feel as though someone is making it a point to make me feel uncomfortable in my home, and attempt to push me out. Is this a way to fool us all into paying more? There is no reason I should have any type of delinquency or eviction notice, and I have that very unpleasant surprise EVERY month when I come home. Goodness forbid that someone is with me that day and has to witness my embarrassment. If this system is “automatically generating” notices based on false charges, then the person signing and delivering them should be more diligent, or a new system needs to be in place. Better yet, maybe an old system, since I didnt seem to have this problem during my few months before new management took over.I’d like to know if anyone else has additional charges on their ledger that don’t make sense, or are served notices of rent due or eviction after they’ve paid? Is it just me?

I would never recommend that anyone live here. I moved in here in September of 2017 and am now having to move out due to multiple issues. Firstly, the building was bought by Village Green who decided to then fire all of the employees working in the office and replace them. My rent currently includes water, heat, and A/C which they are now charging for. Additionally, a raise in the rent itself AND parking. Now I thought that meant maybe I could move to one of their renovated apartments since my rent would spike from 544 to about 800. Wrong. A renovated apartment is going to be almost 900. To live on the east side. The neighborhood isn’t that great, but I guess you have to pay for the view? Now, all of the seniors in my building have to move because they cant afford it. I guess they can do this because it’s “cool” to live in Detroit now.Our appliances are out of date, the parking lot has been under construction for literal months when they said it would be a week or two, and getting things fixed is basically impossible. I asked them to fix my dishwasher and it’s been DAYS now without a reply. The elevators are almost always broken (at least 1 of them), and the stairs outside are falling apart. Also the security at the front sucks except one person who actually checks to see who is coming in. The gates have been broken for as long as I can remember. They decided to put in a fitness center, “dog spa” (whatever that is) among other things that are never used because nobody wanted or asked for it. I laughed when I told them I was moving out because this place is NOT worth it, and they left me a voicemail to try to negotiate with me. Keep in mind I have already signed another lease. A little late don’t you think? If you’re loaded with cash, move downtown closer to something nice instead of wasting your energy here.

The parking garage is in need of repair and they want to charge $75 dollars a month per car. Not to even say when my lease is up they are going up to around $1650 for my same apartment. They dont follow up on work orders. The only good door men/woman is Joe and toya everyone else just lets everyone in.

Marijuana smoking is rampant, the garage is crumbling, units contain far too many people, noise complaints are not investigated, pets are snuck in, “private” balconies are a farce when the noise of other tenants renders them unusable regardless of time of year and MANAGEMENT is unwilling to do anything. If you can pay the rent you have free reign to annoy, steal and destroy as you please.

Dont recommend living here. Visit here often and it is covered in trash all of the time. Big bags of trash (due to antiquated garbage policy Im told) litter the parking garage. And they fail to inform their residents about parking policies as it isnt clear where guests can park and for how long without access to the parking garage. Also, why on earth is it so difficult for them to stock their bathrooms? Not only are there broken toilets in the main lobby, but you cannot reasonably expect to wash your hands without stocked paper towels or hand soap. You will be disappointed if you decide to live here.

Moved in January 2019, I moved in because of the view. It is absolutely breathtaking, with huge windows and sliding glass Doors that lead out to a huge balcony. With that being said. They provide no screens for the windows and doors. And I have been trying for five months the only options I have are to get them custom made and pay $800 for 3 screens.Or I can purchase an old one on the “Jeffersonian black market” for a discounted rate.Lol true story just ask Joe the “Head Of Maintenance” .Anyways can’t enjoy that spring time breeze unless I want to invite all the bugs in to mingle with the ROACHES!Or have my dog run out on the balcony. Which would be fine except the balconies have no form of water drainage, Therefore you are left with huge puddles of sitting-dirty-yellow-black water for the better part of the year. And because of a antiquated trash system which forces you to carry any trash you may have down 20+ floors to the back (scary/disgusting ) trash area. Everyone stores trash on balconies so that spring time breeze? Not so pleasant.Moving along............When I did move in, and mind you attempting to move in is a long horrible story to tell.....I do not want to open old wounds so I’m leaving it there. When I did move in we had building security guards at the front gate and near the lobby. They were replaced with security cameras!None of which are outside! The cameras line the bottom two hallways seeming to be there to watch employees, not to watch for the safety of residents. So when my car was broken into in March ($2800 Loss) there was no one there to stop it and nothing there to see it....God forbid you ask anything of Shanon in the office she is the absolute worst, most entitled, property manager I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. It is as if she owns the buildingBecause of the antiquated trash system I spoke of earlier, trash lines the dilapidated parking structure. Instead of making the trek down to the dirty trash area people just plop the trash bags as they make their way to the car.As I am guilty of doing ever since they got rid of the security guard, I’m sorry I refuse to put my safety in jeopardy for Refuse.!The security booth once sat at the gate to the Dilapidated-Falling-Apart parking garage.Meaning the once present security guard controlled access to the parking structure, now sits in their place A GATE, A gate that may or may not let you in or out depending on your situation. It gets stuck closed, seeming to do so only when you are running late for class/work, and againGod forbid you ask anything of Queen Shanon! All of the “Million Dollar Upgrades” they speak of are just $20 superficial upgrades. If you scratch the surface you will see the facade falling apart. For instance There is no screens on windows, thermostats don’t work, Pool furniture from the 60’s, roof leaks and roaches run rampant throughout the complex.Do not be surprised to see cockroaches scamper from water buckets lining the hallways as you pass that trash heap on your way into our “ boutique style lobby” FMLOne would think a tiny portion of the “Millions” being spent would go towards pest control.I am no expert but.SCREENS on windows are the CHEAPEST most effective way to keep out pests.Again I am no expert, just saying. There is SO MUCH MORE to say but I am getting sad writing this and must move on with my day,At least I can sit here and enjoy my million dollar view of the city!OMG is that another Cockroach.!?Oh and PLEASE QUEEN SHANON! -Shanon of the Houze Jeffersonian-The First of Her Kind-The Un-Affected -Queen in sandals- and annoyer of the First Residents Queen of Building-Smoker of the great grass weed-Protractor at the helm-Lady Agent of the Seven Upper Floors-Breaker of Locks-And Mother of Roaches-Before you post a comment about how sorry you are about my experience and how you would like to speak about it in-person .How about you start off by providing us with working thermostats and screens for our windows, and most importantly pest control.

I have lived through transitions from Saperstein to Village Green to now the worst, Essential Management. The office staff are sorely lacking customer service skills. In fact they have a tendency to be downright rude. Justin (leasing agent) has a desk facing the lobby and tries very hard NOT to make eye contact with anyone appearing to need assistance. Nicole (who identifies herself as over concierge and asst prop manager) on the other hand seems to take great pride in flaunting her newly acquired position of authority to the DETRIMENT of all those she may encounter. When one responds to her with a tone similar to her own she becomes quite defensive, combative and argumentative. The only thing I can say about Shannon (property manager) is that she is a MASTER at hiding away from the residents. It seems too many of them were given both apartments and jobs here at the Jeffersonian but never educated in the CULTURE of the Jeffersonian and the people who live here. Avoid at all cost.

This apartment has a million dollar view of the detroit river, the downtown skyline, and windsor paired perfectly with floor to ceiling window walls. It’s truly breathtaking. That is the extent of anything positive i have to say about living in this hell hole.1. our bathroom shower has been leaking through the walls out onto our front hallway wall, for years. it has been “repaired” multiple times but the wall is still rotting like moldy cheese.2. there is a leak from the apartment above us into our closet. the walls were also rotting. while they keep coming to repair the drywall, they are essentially putting a band-aide on a broken leg, as I’m fairly confident they are not getting to the source of the leak.3. the air conditioning does not really work4. there is no bathroom ventilation or fan so the tiles are collapsing in the shower.5. all of the above scenarios have contributed to a very damp and mildew-riddled living experience that is not very compatible with my asthma. i cough and wheeze all night long.6. when we first moved into the apartment they refused to allow us to move our furniture in past 8 pm (even though an employee told us it would be ok earlier that day) we drove in a foot of snow in our uhaul and when we arrived they literally said no to us and turned off the elevator so we wouldn’t try to move our belongings up anyway. thusly, we had to rent the uhaul for an extra night and missed work the next day to move our furniture up.7. the sink kitchen is always backing up8. the garbage disposal breaks often9. the dishwasher leaks often10. the community hallway carpet on our floor is constantly soaked with leaked water and smells like mildew11. their supposed “valet garbage removal “ just means that the hallway is full of trash every night and they have added a charge to your rent to have the privilege of smelling it.12. a new company bought the jeffersonian and to keep our apartment we would be subject to a 61% increase in rent. From $1237 to $2000.13. this “lavish increase” in rent is to support “multimillion dollar renovations “ and although stainless steel appliances are very decadent, they are putting a majority of our seniors out of their homes. residents that have lived here for decades. At present there are not tenants rights protecting us from rent increases outside of the terms of the lease. This is most definitely gentrification at its worst, folks. Detroit does deserve nice buildings but what is the point if no one that lives here can afford it? Many of the black americans that make up over 80% of our apartment community feel that this kind of rent increase is a form of institutionalized racism. i do not disagree.14. You are only given 2 hours to move out15. They will tow your car if you park in an incorrect spot, even though they are remodeling the parking structure and your spot is unavailable and you pay for parking.16. if you ever park in the visitor parking because you have the stomach flu and need to run upstairs to puke, you will get yelled at by the security guard that works day shift. she has yelled at me on multiple occasions. once for having to puke and the other time because i was having a couch delivered and her manager didnt tell her about it. so she screamed at me. this is supposed to be my home. this is not a restaurant where the server was rude so i choose to take my businesses elsewhere. i have to face this person every day to get to and from my home.17. the dryers in the laundry room have 2 settings: literally burnt or still wet....take your pick18. i am not afraid of spiders nor have i ever been, but the parking structure is full of gum-ball sized spiders. i counted 48 that were less than 2 feet above my head in the single 20 foot line I walked19. A river front view, how nice! lets crack the windows and listen. whats that, 28 different rap songs indistinguishably playing loudly over someone screaming bloody murder and gun shots at the park below our window at 2am20. Due to the renovations, there is the ever-present sound of jack hammers
