Great gym with solid amenities, but the cost of membership and the horrendous customer service here is a real downer. Be warned that the membership contract comes with technicalities that the club may use to charge you additional money down the line. I really enjoyed going here and its super disappointing that their service is so poor.
I was told I could keep my membership inactive until things went back to normal. Out of nowhere they charged me full membership price. I had no option but to cancel. I didnt think full price was worth it when the gym was fully open and now they want full price for less than 1/2 the amenities! Customer service takes a week to respond to one email. I think theyre trying to get every last dime before the place goes out of business.
This gym has basically one pro and many cons. Pro: Its a nice gym and there is a pool which is rare for Denver.. but thats about it.Their prices are pretty steep and staff is extremely rude with the exception of those who work at the front desk. Ive been yelled at on multiple occasions just for asking simple questions either in person or over the phone. The concept of customer service really does not exist here.Additionally, you might think its difficult to get out of of a gym membership at a cheaper/national chain gym, but beware: at CAC you will call and call and call before you get someone in billing. When you do youll find out that its a 2 month cancellation policy no matter when you cancel during the month. They did let people pause memberships during COVID - which was really nice - but I was suddenly charged again with no warning. I called to see if I could get a refund for 1 of the 2 months due to no warning and the rep on the phone yelled at me because lots of members are saying this and its really frustrating for her. I asked just to know the date that I was notified that my plan was no longer paused and she confirmed on the phone that the gym had no contact information on file for me (address or email) and I never got any notification. Due to this I asked if I could maybe only be charged for 2 out of the 4 months they were planning to charging me for (due to the 2 month cancellation policy) and I was denied. I followed up with this rep 3 times and never heard back. At this point am just hoping the cancellation went through. You can easily join a cheaper gym around here and forgo the pool or join a more focused gym like orange theory for about the same price and nicer staff with better customer service.
Very stingy - for a $120 a month youd think they wouldnt try to milk you for every penny. $6 Water, same gym in Englewood location $1. Want to bring a buddy staying here a few days, $20 a day. Ridiculous considering he cant buy a membership when hes from out of state. When I asked about the pass the sales rep talks to me like I owe him something. Ok, pretty rich from a company that asked us to keep paying during the closures, which I did. Lesson learned. And honestly the equipment isnt even that nice- budget gyms like Chuze and Vasa have newer and nicer equipment
Wow. Was going to get a membership here but these reviews are scary. Yikes. Not only that but all the reviews are saying basically the same thing and all this company does in return is reply with smart a$$ comments instead of fixing the problem. Definitely will never join this gym.
I have not had the best experience since joining here two months ago. I signed up and got 3 free personal training sessions... I was told by the salesman (Matt Wilson) that he would have the triathlon coach reach out to me to set up an aquatic coaching session. THIS NEVER happened. I was also told that I got one month of the passport (you can go to multiple locations) for free, but I was never told that I would automatically be charged the extra $25 after the first month. I was indeed charged the $25 and I immediately went into the club to ask for a refund and discontinue the passport portion of the membership because I never used it. Matt Wilson said he would request the refund for me. 6 weeks and 6 follow up emails later (5 of which I received ZERO response from Matt) and I still have not been refunded. I reached out to the corporate office personally, with no response. This club does NOT care about their members. I gave it two stars because the salt water pool is nice and the rest of the staff is very friendly. I would although, advise getting a LifeTime fitness membership instead.
Im typing out my whole experience to warn any potential new member to the CAC of its pitfalls and its benefits. The gym is nice, close to downtown, and pre-COVID, had great amenities, but for the cost, poor customer service, and inability to flex with the times of COVID, Id avoid going here.I initially signed up in Feb 2020 for what was advertised as a First 3 months for $50/month, and $100/month thereafter, cancel at anytime after the first 3 months deal. They told me it was a young member special, so naturally being new to Denver, I signed up right away with my brother (already a member at CAC) present. They put down by backup email for some reason and I wasnt notified that my payment didnt go through. I also learned that they charged my account the standard rate, not the offered discount. When COVID hit in March, I suspended my membership, but I was continuing to be charged through April at the standard rate, not the advertised on I signed up for.I called to dispute the charges with the club directly, and the associate who signed me up for the deal said I would never offer anyone a deal like that, which was a boldface lie. My brother was a witness as I signed the contract. After getting nowhere with the club, I was told to call Membership Accounting - All they do is tell you to email Membership Accounting. I submitted my appeal, it took a week for a response, and there was no consideration given to my dispute. They only told me to pay what was outstanding and that they cancelled my membership. All in all, Im disappointed with the service provided here. Its a great facility, but pretty low likelihood I renew my membership. Ill give them two stars because the steam room was pretty great.
Way too white. no wonder this place is empty!
Paying over $100 a month and they close at 3pm on the weekends. What a ripoff.
CAC has been a wonderful experience. At this point I mostly use the lovely pool. booking a lane is super easy and assures a safe swim environment. The entire staff, especially front desk, are friendly, efficient, and helpful. I hope to use more of the facilty and classes as time goes on.
Needed a gym for one month due to my building pool being broken. Got in and setup with a membership and then canceled following the timeline they had given me to ensure I wasnt being billed for 2 months. Walked in today to go swim and was told my membership had been canceled and was then offered a $30 day pass or a really expensive one month membership. Itd be one thing if I was told that from the beginning - it is a terrible business practice to set the wrong expectations with someone and then rip the rug. I believe they call that bait and switch...
This is the worst gym with the worst customer service, and the most unprofessional management! They reactivated my husbands account out of nowhere, even though he had canceled over the phone months prior. They sent us a bill for $400 for literally no reason. They claimed they had contacted him through email, phone, and paper mail, but we had received nothing about payment or a bill. We did, however, recieve tons of marketing spam from them, even after having canceled. There were no outstanding funds on the account before they randomly threw $400 on there. Are they that desperate for money? Such a scammy gym, and it sounds like were not the only ones going through this. Doing home workouts is better than giving business to such a pathetic company.
Fraud, fraud fraud! They charged my account without my permission. I tried to reach out and they gave me a bogus number and there their attitude was they dont care! A bad review isnt sufficient enough to describe the I justice.....they made it right thanks
Unresolved billing issues on the magnitude of several hundred dollars, despite contacting parent company multiple times. Will not be a customer again, and will strongly recommend colleagues and friends also avoid. Whatever their strategy seems to be with respect to billing issues currently will ultimately tank their business long-term. I wish I could give zero stars.
I signed up here for the pool in a downtown location and was also promised a few other perks when I signed up that they never followed up on despite several emails on my part. I cancelled during the safer at home orders on June 15th as I would no longer be working downtown and was told my membership was cancelled. That’s it, and received a charge for July.I emailed them that I was charged for July, and have received no response a week later and when I called the club, they said “you had to give 30 days written notice per your contract”. Well, we weren’t allowed in a club and I still kept paying the rate I signed up at plus $35 by choice, so if we want to stick to the contract this is a poorly timed and opportunistic moment to choose to do so. This company has no organization nor conscience, but I’m definitely not the first to say this in a review.
Have been here for 3 months and love it! Staff is very friendly. Have been working out with Personal Trainer Brittany for 2 months and it has been awesome. Facility is clean. They have a swimming pool, hot tub, and wet and dry saunas. LOVE IT ALL!
They raised their rates but sent me a letter saying they would do so, it was only a dollar. Also when I signed up the sales person explained in detail everything about the 30 day written notice and how it’s a 3 month minimum. I had my bill not go through once and they were nice enough to waive the late fee too! I see a lot of comments about trying to scam people out of money which is false, read your contract that you initial and sign off on and you won’t have any problems. The gym itself is great. Love the salt water pool and always see what discounts you can get!
This is the worst club I have ever been part of. Staff is (Ginger) extremely rude on a phone and is impossible to cancel without them collecting money. They are all about money and even charge for parking. There are no flexibility to accommodate COVID-19. Please never join this club as you will be disappointing if anything goes wrong and you need to make changes.
You get to pay full club price and only get to use half the club. I would expect CAC to be fighting the regulations imposed by the governor for Covid or give a discount on monthly dues.1.) Sauna and Steam room are closed.2.) Every other piece of equipment is shut down.3.) No towel service.4.) Water fountains are closed.5.) Cafe is closed.6.) Half the swim lanes are closed. Not to mention how annoying it is to wear a mask (keep in mind they don’t regulate the type of mask) while you work out.
I used to love this place. They have great yoga classes and other group fitness classes. The spin classes are not that good. I stopped going because it became more inconvenient to go there. The location is in the middle of downtown and you have to deal with all the rif raf around there.
Cancelled nearly three months ago and these people are still billing me $305 monthly even after confirming my membership was cancelled, and now are refusing to return my emails and calls. This gym has great trainers and staff that I loved but is run by a bunch of con artists.
I just joined a month ago and love this gym. It is always clean, the members are respectful, the staff is friendly, and they have all of the equipment you could ask for. As a former personal trainer Im blown away by this space and what it has to offer. Im typically there twice a day once in the morning and once at night and it doesnt ever get crazy busy. Its definitely worth the money if working out is a hobby and or if you really value your daily gym experience.
This gym has taken great strides to become more relevant for the ever changing downtown demographic. The addition of additional racks and multi functional training area is really appreciated.I miss the days when they had really great promotions to get your friends to sign up though. Now they give you club cash that isnt enough to cover the cost of anything you can spend it on. So they are basically like thanks for the referral, now spend more money. Ultimately I just dont go out of my way to convince any friends to join.
While the gym itself is nice BEWARE! After paying their overpriced rates for years, I canceled my membership. Two months after I cancelled I continued to get call from them saying I owed more money (which I did not), I kept explaining to the CAC that there must be an error and to stop calling. I have had nonstop calls from debt collectors for years now, requesting $180... What a treat! TLDR; Choose any gym but the Colorado Athletic Center, they will keep their hands in your pockets for years
This gym is fantastic. I wasnt sure about it when I joined, but I feel like I really get my moneys worth. In addition to ample space, machinery, and weights the staff is friendly and attentive. The trainers are top notch. There are community events and competitions regularly which provide a great opportunity to network and make new friends. The run club has a big following and is suitable for all levels. If youve been on the fence you should pull the trigger. Totally worth it.
Horrible customer service. I cancelled my membership back in March and am still being charged. I have tried contacting corporate numerous times to no avail. Ive now been wrongly charged over $400 and have not heard anything back other than an automated response. Very disappointing...
WATCH YOUR BILL!!! THEY WILL DOUBLE-CHARGE AND OVER-CHARGE and make it extremely difficult to get your money back. Yes, this is a very nice gym with clean facilities and good classes. But at what cost?!?! They offer different rates to people too, which seems shady. I joined the same time as my friend. She was paying $115 a month and I was getting charged $160 a month!! We were both told the dues were $130 a month. I was even supposed to get a corporate discount which never got applied (even though I asked and they said it had been). After months of emailing and calling, they were finally able to adjust my rate down to $115. When I asked about getting a refund for the hundreds of dollars they wrongfully took from my account, I get the silent treatment! Ive called, emailed and talked to them in person. SUCH A SCAM!!!!!! My friend got double billed and it took 3 months to give her a refund. This is essentially fraudulent behavior. If you do join this gym, dont pay more than $115 a month (competitive rate discount) - and who knows some people may even get a better rate. And seriously - watch your account EVERY MONTH!! They dont send out bills so its hard to remember to watch. But they will take more than you owe if youre not watching and they will not give it back. Oh, and to top it all off I still dont have a six pack lol.
Heed the warning of all of the reviews below regarding double-charging, increased rates, etc. Its all true. The club knows that they can milk their members for $$$ simply by charging them an extra month or two here and there. A large part of their clientele probably never notices, but there is clearly enough evidence in the below reviews that you will see a pattern. CAC is a scummy business.
STAY AWAY!!! Should have read the reviews before I joined. Canceled my membership in December but they still charged me for February and would not reverse it. Conversed with the account team for over 3 months with no luck. They just plain dont care and want money. Really what is $200.00 going to do for you. I can tell you that if you would had made things right with your customer you would be better off. Treating your customers right it what it should be about especially when you are wrong.Got a response now that indicates that they would be happy to refund any erroneous charges if I can send it over. Where do I send it to because I was not able to get any help from the accounting department?
This review is for one of the personal trainers, Michelle Wood. Michelle Wood is, by far, the best personal trainer I have ever had. When you hire her, you don’t just get someone who follows you around the gym and tells you what to do. She asks you what your goals are and before you even get to the gym she has already put together comprehensive workout plans where every single exercise is designed to further one or more of your goals. My experience with Michelle has been amazing. In about six weeks of working out with her I went from running a mile and half in 16 minutes to running it in under 13 minutes! I went from wearing a size 8 to being able to squeeze into a size 4. She has shown me that I am capable of doing things that I never before imagined which has given me an abundance of confidence in every aspect of my life. I cannot thank her enough for what she has done for me.
Crowded gym and incompetent staff. Another members fees were charged to my account 2 months ago. I have spoken to literally 4 different people and the problem still isnt fixed. Theres always an excuse. I give up. They can keep the money in exchange for me warning everyone else. If you go here and there is ever a mistake on your account, it will not get fixed. The gym will tell you to call accounting and accounting will tell you to go to the gym. They will make all kinds of excuses for it but the bottom line is that you wont get your money back. Find a gym that hires adults that know how to do their jobs and understand the concept of customer service.
ITS TRUE - CAC WILL RAISE YOUR RATES AND NOT NOTIFY YOUI live locally and they have a partnership with my apartment for a discounted rate. I signed up for a contract for $92/month. I didnt really look at my statements until I had to cancel due to moving locations. When I looked at my statements, it showed my rate went up to $135/month. When I inquired with their accounts payable team (Fred) they led me to section 10 of the contract that says CAC reserves the right to increase the rates at anytime without notification.Pretty shady business practice. I think some people have suggested to pay close attention to your bill. Trust me, its not even worth it.
I was a member here several years ago and can confirm that they are impossible to cancel with. I actually was lied to by the guy working there when I “cancelled” and ended up in collections two months later
Just tried this gym for the first time ever, and it’s honestly the worst gym I’ve ever been to. Save yourself a headache and go to Lifetime Fitness instead. $100+/month for this gym is a complete rip off. Pay a little more and have a much better experience at Lifetime
Very nice staff, awesome location. Clean and always a pleasant experience. A great deal overall :)
I only use this facility for its group classes and I love them. Im in better shape than I have ever been by going to 3 group classes a week. The teachers are great and there is a huge variety of classes. The locker rooms are clean, but can get busy in the weekday mornings so ladies dont rely upon there being a hair dryer always available. I would recommend bringing your own. The only thing I wish CAC would do better is provide recycling bins.
The club is clean, bright, and welcoming, with plenty of room to move around in the workout areas and locker room (not too crowded). Love the classes (instructors and times are great).
Used to work/be a member at the Monaco location. Compared to the downtown locations, Monaco is a joke! I joined the Tabor center because I ended up getting a job downtown and it was the right move!! Ill be a part of the grand opening of the Union Station club thats for sure. The locker rooms are phenomenal, you sure pay for what you get. Overall the facility is pretty clean and theres plenty of options for people of all fitness levels. Very spacious club, which is pretty deceiving from the outside. The staff is courteous and professional most of the time and theres a beautiful seating area with comfortable chairs for me to catch up on a few emails before heading back to work or home for the day. It does get crowded at peak hours (duh), so Ive adjusted my schedule to avoid these crowds and its been perfect! Some may think its overpriced, but like I said, you really get what you pay for and all the extra treats will keep you coming back!! Isnt that the point of having a gym membership! Actually using it?? Cant wait for Union Station to open in March. Highly recommend the CAC
Would give 0 stars if possible. Desk staff is incredibly rude, when you try to cancel membership because you’re moving out of state they give you the run around and even hang up on you. Unbelievably awful customer experience, do not recommend.
Saline swimming pool earns this club 5 stars right off the bat! Really hard to find and greatly appreciated. Cleanest club Ive been to. Front desk staff always remember who I am and are helpful and friendly. Cleaning lady in the ladies room is super nice and attentive (says the wife). Busy, like any other gym, at peak hours, but wait ten minutes and a treadmill, swim lane, etc. will open up. Primarily adults at this club because of the location and since the pool is indoors, which means its cleaner than most (ditto for the hot tub)!
As to the gym and its amenities - this is a great gym. Clean, decent classes and trainers, and a large open space (albeit cold during the winter due to the large windows). My main issue for this negative review stems from the corporation that owns Colorado Athletic Clubs - Wellbridge. The overall management is too heavily focused on profits rather than creating a healthy, thriving membership and gym community. What you can expect:Each year your (already high) premiums will be raised.High turn-over of trainers/employees, mainly due to their unhappiness with their management.Frequently broken steam room/jacuzzi amenitiesAn expensive gym CaféA massage studio with only one therapist working at a time and few available appointmentsFinally - be warned, when you DO attempt to cancel your membership, it will be a difficult process so they can squeeze every last dime out of you. After 8 years of membership, my husband and I were tired of the annual increase in fees and decided to look for alternatives. With the new Planet Fitness off of 16th street, we were able to go from $189/month to $42.00 a month. I added Class Pass to get in a weekly class and some studio variety and with both memberships were still under $100.00 for our gym/studio membership. Unless your company is paying for this gym - there are WAY too many alternatives to shake up your fitness routine and get you health benefits you seek without the high cost. Are only regret - is that we didnt quit sooner.
The machines and equipment are kept really clean and overall are good quality. The staff are all incredibly friendly & professional and really quick to assist you when you need a band-aide or have to borrow a locker room key. The amenities are top notch: plenty of showers, hot tub, saline pool, towel service, sauna/steam room. The positive experiences at CAC 16th street are consistent, I have never experienced an on going issue or had unreliable repair times for equipment.
If what is important to you is a great work-out, this is your gym. Its the best equipped Ive every seen (and Ive seen plenty). Its clean (although Ive never used the pool) and the bar serves a wide variety of food and beverage, even wine. Ive had a few problems with the front desk that you shouldnt have with a gym located in the Tabor Center but most of them (especially Bree) are helpful and friendly. Many good classes to choose from as well.
Super friendly gym filled with professional staff and successful people. I had a question once about my bill as I didnt understand it and was given very prompt and very courteous attention. The classes are phenomenal with a very good and balanced array of times and types of classes (see their website) as well as private/group trainer sessions, Pilates, etc.I would recommend this gym to everyone who likes a very clean, well-maintained gym that is social if you want it to be or not if you dont want to interact with anyone. They have plenty of machines to choose from and theres never a line for machines as some gyms have.
I have trained in numerous gyms throughout NZ & Australia & this would have to be the best facilities I have come across. I was only here for a week but spent nearly every day here training as well as working at the desks by the cafe. The free WIFI was awesome, as well as the complimentary coffee & I even managed to score the odd free smoothie sample! (The smoothie menu is incredible btw!) All of the staff from reception to the cleaners not to mention the trainers were super friendly and the equipment would have to be the best you could find. As well as power / squat racks theres a huge variety of machines as well as tyres, sleds, bands, you name it. Well done to everyone who works here for making this such an incredible place. Keep it up & hope to see you again on my return!
Please set up an option for automated payment plans. I need to call in and give my credit card info each month? Its 2018..... 2, 0, 1.....8! Get with it yall! Nobody got time
DONT DO IT. Enjoy the free pass then never look back. This club is a high-end scam. Not worth the money. Same services available for 1/5 the cost at other clubs. Management and staff is extremely dishonest, manipulative, and just plain rude. Expect great treatment when you first walk in, dont be fooled by the nice layout, its a scam.
I went into the office to put my membership on hold, filled out the paperwork and was informed that as I am a member of a near by business I dont have to worry about start up fees and should just cancel. Filled out paperwork to cancel the membership and submitted. Months later after changing my credit card (lost card) I got notification from the Colorado Athletic Club that I was past due and found out that they had charged two sporadic large charges to my credit card with several months in between not billed. Canceled in May, didnt receive a charge in June, charged in June for two months than again in November for another four months prior to canceling the credit card.Went into Colorado Athletic Club to discuss this and was told that the only form they had was the form placing the membership on hold but that they understood the issue and would have their manager take care of it because as they could see there was no reason for me to place my membership on hold when there was no start up fee due to a deal worked out with my employer. Front desk personal had me fill out cancellation paperwork and leave the date blank for the manager to sign.Went back into Colorado Athletic Club to verify that issue was being resolved and was informed that they had no record of anything but the on hold paperwork and I would have to go through Membership Accounting to discuss my dispute. After reaching out to membership accounting to try to take care of this issue for a third time I heard nothing back for 15 days, reached back out to check on the status and was informed that they chose to turn my account over to a third party collection agency without having their manager or general manager or anyone else respond. After talking to some friends that are in the area I discovered that both the loosing of the cancellation form and the sporadic billing practices are common occurrences with this company.Highly recommend taking your business elsewhere!
We got a pass here for staying at a nearby hotel. I was very pleasantly surprised. The locker room is deluxe with every amenity you can think of. Their pool was under construction so I cant give a review of that. They have plenty of cardio machines and circuit training machines. If I lived in the city I would be definitely buying a membership here.

I have been going to CAC Tabor since November of 2017. I have not had one problem here. The staff are incredible people who are more than willing to help you out with anything. Management is great; Jo who is the GM is a very pleasant woman who makes sure the club is up to par. Drew who is another manager is great at keeping the club together. I always see that guy wiping down things or putting the weights away on the weekends. Brianna who is another manager helped me out when I had questions on certain classes I was interested in. Tommy from the front Desk always welcomes people who enter the club with a friendly smile.Trainers are all very nice people as well. Shaun, who works at the cafe bar, can make a mean protein shake and always has something funny to say. Even on a bad day that guy makes me laugh. Locker room staff keep it clean and always have more then enough towels available. Thank you Michael. Run Club, which I just started, is full of incredible people as well. They all made me feel very welcome; appreciate you Junko and Stephan. This is just a sincere honest review from my experience. If anything changes, Ill be sure to address it. For now, this is my second home.
This place is really good to get muscle for a cheap price.
LOVE this gym. Salt water swimming pool, hot yoga, spin, great amenities, spa, and especially the staff led by Jo, the GM! She has been there since the club opened 7 years ago. Best club in Denver.
I have always had a membership at Colorado Athletic Club, almost nine years now. I tried a club downtown other than here, and I was miserable. Honestly, I always come back to Tabor Center. No matter how pricey, I think what they have here is worth every cent, and I am willing to work harder just to stay here. Lol, I love you guys!
Pretty upsetting the promotions promised for bringing in friends to sign up were never honored. Further was pretty disgusted as to how the issue was handled when ending my membership. The resolution offered was to have a food credit for a gym I was no longer going to go to. I was told that it was my fault for not following up on my credit and that they shouldnt be responsible for their own housekeeping. Will never again join their clubs which for less money you can find gyms with just as much equipment and offerings.
Have enjoyed going to this club for several years, have had minor billing issues twice with their management company, however Manager Jo Collins was able to make things right for me and I will continue to provide positive feedback to others, club is beautiful and the in-house staff has always been extremely nice to me, will be back.
I rarely went when I had my membership but the staff was always friendly and the facility was well kept. There was some confusion on the timeline of me canceling my membership and they honored my cancellation even though my form was not submitted within the requested window, which I truly appreciate and am not sure other gyms would do the same. I cancelled my membership only because I was too lazy to be paying for a gym membership and nothing to do with the facility or my experience. Im giving a four star review because I didnt feel that there was anything above and beyond what I would expect for the membership and what I was paying, but it was always within my expectations.
I ended up not being able to join their membership - however they still deserve 5 stars after the thoughtful tour and follow-ups I received from Brittany. Great people working here! :)
I love the flexibility of the classes, free coffee, pancake breakfast, fantastic and friendly instructors and great equipment.
I have been a member since 1992 of this family of athletic clubs. I tried competitors and missed the nice, clean locker rooms and the great classes. Tabor Center is a beautiful club with friendly staff and clients!
CAC is one of the most dishonest businesses I have come across in Denver and in my life in general, next to Comcast. I have not only had issues with them regarding falsified contracts I have heard from others that have had the same issue. I will never step foot in their establishment again and their employees should reconsider the ethics of their employer.
Good enough gym, but overpriced and poor customer service. Remember, no matter how many years ago you signed up for your membership, and regardless of what front desk staff told you three weeks ago, you must cancel your membership 30 days prior. Three weeks is not enough time for incompetent staff to cancel membership. I’d go to the neighborhood rec for a quarter of the price.
Many of the negative reviews you read of this place are referring to the other downtown location. The CO Atheltic Club in the Tabor Center is very different - their customer service is awesome and facility is top notch.Their pricing is reasonable given that they have a pool and 3 year old facility ($79/mo if under 19, $91/mo for those 19-29, $116 for 30 and up, and $171/mo for couples). Activation fee ranges from $50 to $200, depending on what promotions they are(or arent) running that time of year.
The managers of this location accused me of stealing tips, with NO EVIDENCE at all. They just made the assumption I was stealing based on her feeling of “never seeing someone” get as many tips as I did. There was another situation when I worked here that leads me to believe my firing was racially motivated. The only other people (4) of color they have working there are doing laundry in the back and cleaning like they are the help. I’m not saying they are racist but there was definitely some prejudice and bias. Gym is nice. Over priced though. Really don’t recommend if you are a person of color. The microaggessions are definitely real here
CAC Tabor rocks. I rejoined this gym after taking a couple years off; things are different. The club is very clean, staff are all very professional, nice and eager to help and equipment is top notch. I’m very happy with CAC Tabor. Also, for the record, having cancelled in the past, it’s very easy and no problem if one simply follows instructions.
Great gym with great location. Downstairs parking is convenient and free if after hours and on weekends. The staff has always been polite, professional and courteous with me. I think if you smile and treat them with respect youll get more than your share back. Much better staff than at a meat market like Ballys or 24 hours. Talking about the latter, now those are gross places where between the crabs in the locker room and bodily fluids on the machines you really cant have a good time. But CAC is definitely several levels up. The locker rooms are generally clean and well-stocked with fresh towels, shaving and grooming stuff, and nice wooden lockers. Sure it can get crowded during the 5pm and early morning crowds, but you just have to shift your time by about an hour. The equipment is great and fellow exercisers courteous. The tabor center view and ambience cant be beat. Reminds me of a resort-gym down in Cancun. Other amenities: filtered water dispenser for your bottle, equipment wipes, really comfy waiting area with couches, chairs, and a well-stocked snack bar, the HOTTEST steam room in town, and a hard working staff. Complaints are just not warranted. Sorry.
The facilities were decent but the staff is terrible. They consistently passed buck and fed me false information. I purchased a massage package through them and tried to schedule one. They told me everything was set and I called to double check the time. It was scheduled for the following week incorrectly. I showed up the following week and they turned me away and said it wasnt in the system and tried to recharge me. Chaz and Jo two of the employees were incapable of coming up with a solution. It was abundantly clear that they do not value customer service. Would not recommend the club to anyone unless you enjoy being scammed!
The locker rooms are always packed, I have to stand sometimes and wait for people to finish changing. There is also waiting for showers. The yoga classes are always over packed, you have to get there 10 minutes early to get a spot or you will not get a spot, or try to cram into a section where you have to watch out not to kick someone in the face. Additionally, the yoga classes are not always heated which I prefer heated. One of the instructors tried to pop my pack after a yoga class and he hurt my back. It hurt for like for a whole week. After that I started rejecting his back popping skills. There was this one time the jacuzzi was not working for a over a month completely threw my whole routine off. Towards the end I did not want to even attend since it left an awful taste in my mouth.I had an account for over 1 year since I did the contract. I tried to cancel a few times but they need you to sign a paper and do some paper work. It makes it a little harder to cancel. I forgot about that and I ended having the account for 3 more months since I never got around to it. Paid 3 months for not using my account, told them to do something about it and they said NO we want our money.I regret it. For $100 a month this place is not worth it. I think I will go back to 24 hours after this experience. I dont know, I have to see my options.
Club itself is great. Clean, professional. But be aware theyll never let you leave. Strong-arm tactics refusing to accept cancellation notice. Theyll require extra hoops to squeeze extra months out of you. Very unethical in their billing practices.
Great Staff! Wonderful Energy Bar and Cafe! Get the Greg #1 if your looking for a delicious treat after a hard work out!
This is a great facility. To all the reviews complaining about being billed extra at the end of the membership, maybe you shouldnt be shelling out $100 per month if youre worried about an extra payment. Get your timing right... this is the same process as almost all clubs these days.
Lovely staff here, left me leaving antiquated. I will be back, but I hope for more balance, definitely a place for them to improve. Peace.
Two stars only because the facilities themselves are nice.First off, I was supposed to receive a referral credit on my account in February, but someone fat-fingered the account numbers and I had to finally call in in May to get it applied. It took a week of research for them to apply it, and no one called to let me know the resolution-- I just saw my account had been charged less on the next billing cycle. It took me more than three months to finally cancel my membership. They took out a last payment when they shouldnt have and overdrafted my account. I spoke with/ emailed at least three people and it took two weeks to finally get the money back. The niceness of the facilities in no way make up for the sheer ineptitude of the staff. I will not return.
Their membership cancellation policies are asinine. I got billed today for the month of March, called to cancel my membership per their 30-day cancellation policy, yet still have to pay through May 1 (60 days) b/c they said they process the charge on the 1st of the month. Oh, and the music they play at the gym is DEPRESSING & the opposite of motivating. Literally Evanescence break-up songs all day.
Terrible customer service, terrible experience. The club offers dual memberships for people living at the same residence but mine took two months to get approved. Proof of residency apparently does not include two drivers licenses with the same address-- until the manager was forced to be called into approve it.Parking fees will add an additional $30 per month minimum .Rude front desk employees constantly questioning you making you feel like a criminal rather than a member. Not worth the money, the rudeness, or the hassle.Denver has plenty of great, welcoming gyms equipped with friendly staff and top notch customer service. Unfortunately, CAC falls far below the bar.
DO NOT JOIN THIS CLUB! Nothing but greedy sales tactics and rude and non-helpful staff members.Membership at Colorado Athletic Club has been an ABSOLUTE nightmare. I joined CAC in November under a special promotion. I was interviewing for a position in the area and was hopeful my life was going to bring me to a local company that would make CAC a good club to join. After not receiving a job offer, and trying to work with CAC to keep my membership activated past the grace period for time to cancel and make a decision on my employment status, they preceded to charge me for five months worth of membership even though I canceled within the month (And the contract only lasts for three months...they chose to charge me for two more). Their staff should have canceled my membership starting in November but instead they delayed it past the grace period and accused me of being non-timely in the process.Emily Wanta was the sales rep and I do not recommend working with her as she was delayed in communication, didnt follow up appropriately and caused this giant headache for me.Fred Schweda was the account manager I was working with and he was the most rude and condescending person Ive ever met in a customer service capacity. He needs to be fired. CAC literally stole 300+ dollars from me and I hope no one else has to deal with this company the way that Ive had to. Shame on you CAC.
The customer service and accounting staff are very rude and heartless. I was lied to on several occasions about the contract. I would definitely not recommend this gym to anyone it is way overpriced for what you receive.
The “personal trainers” will make sure to take up as much space as they can, ideally in your way. This place is not worth the $/month that is guaranteed to increase every year.
Hours are terrible. Membership/manager are woefully unaware of the cancellation policies. I was told when I canceled my monthly fee would be prorated. Huge lie! It’s a one month cancellation fee! Massive difference. In my eyes they stole $120 from me by not knowing their own policies.
The best place to workout in downtown! All of the classes are great, gym is super clean and staff is beyond friendly.
Big fan. Been at this gym for several months and have really enjoyed the experience and amenities.
Great club. Great members, staff, classes and instructors.
Dont listen to the negative reviews, this is one of the best gyms in Colorado if youre serious about attaining goals and being in a great environment in the process
Terrible, unfriendly staff, and corporate is even worse. My father died and I had to move home, and they STILL would not even let me out of my contract after being a member for almost 5 years. I would NOT recommend to anyone. There are way better gyms in Denver, who are not just out to make a dollar.
Poor Customer Service; poor management.Classic Bait and Switch tactics. Beware this gyms unscrupulous business practices.I joined the CAC with the promise of a $200 gym credit that I was promised could be used on any of the gym amenities. Since then, theyve gone to such great lengths to prevent me from using my gym credit that I just had to cancel and leave their gym credit on the table. After joining, I had to fight for them to actually apply the credit on my account. Then I had to fight to get it reapplied after they expired it without telling me.Then after they didnt like me using the credit at the cafe they told me I would only be able to use the credit for Pilates from then on.Theyve even tried secretly charging my credit card instead of using gym credits. The general manager wont respond to my concerns.Just had to pay for an entire additional month before they let me quit and now Im free. Be warned.
Personal trainer - Rachel Review:Ive always been hesitant about having a trainer given the notion that I know how to work out and use the equipment. She has definetly altered my habits just after this one (and not last) session. She was friendly, excited and listened to regular routine and what my goals are. She got my level of experience and on the spot designed an hour long routine for us to go through. The hour flew by - I realized some critical errors in my routine but instead of making me feel bad about it Rachel actually educated me on how the propper technique was and didnt ridicule my original attempts. Trust me I was way off doing things the right way. When we finished up she left me with words of encouragement some goals to reach the next time and overall made me feel empowered. After we where done she moved on to another group which she then explained was group training - I am looking forward to trying that next! Always nice to have others around too haha.I feel in this world of reviews we are quick to jump on and explain the bad - I wanted to give credit and recommend Rachel to anyone trying to get fit and healthy the right way. Have a champion by their side ask for her.Great job and thank you!For the gym itself Ive been coming here for the past few months and I couldnt be happier. Yes there are times when its crowded but be realistic its a gym in the heart of downtown. The best times where its a ghost town here (preference on my end) between 10am and 12pm then between 2pm and 4pm - its mostly empty towards the end of the day too around 7-8pm. The front desk staff has always been friendly, remember my name before presenting them with my card :) the times i have had a legitimate concern its been addressed very quickly by Caitlin who is the primary reason why I joined.
Great club. Great members, staff, classes and instructors.
I just joined this gym last week and have been everyday since. Ryan Piemeisl, a membership representative, is a friendly guy, gave a nice tour of the facility, and gave options to join, no pressure. I joined that day. For the location, type of facility, and amenities, it is worth every penny. I have been a member to dozens of gyms over the last 10 years. I have no idea why people are complaining about this place. It is an awesome gym and all the staff have been great! The place just makes you feel like you want to get in shape and go every day. There is something for everyone. The gym is pretty spacious and has absolutely everything you could want. 4 separate Classrooms for all the different group classes they have. Does it get a little busy at 5pm? Sure, every gym does. But its not shoulder to shoulder like I thought it was going to be. Get off your high horse and making up every excuse as to why the the place isnt perfect and why you shouldnt join. Give me a break, psshh. I thoroughly enjoy coming here everyday. Oh the membership is too much money? Keep telling yourself that. See you at starbucks for your half-ass-fatty-mocha-latte with an extra shot of excuses with one pump of laziness for $6 bucks a day... Priorities.
The club has been fairly dirty for several months now. And the hours shown on the internet site saying Open Today: 5:00 AM to 9:30 PM is not true. They delayed opening today till 8:00 AM even though its Christmas eve, its a normal work day for most all of their customers. Very poor choice from management.
One of the full service health clubs with day passes. I was in from out of town. They treated me great!
CAC is a great gym. Good equipment, always clean and friendly knowledgable staff. The guys at this gym actually work out as opposed to going through the motions. Its a gym. Who complains about customer service at a gym??
Great classes... Godd looking crowd. Nice locker rooms and delicious food.
Mirroring what others have said. From top to bottom, the focus seems to be on revenue at all costs. Manipulative & un-ethical sales tactics from the very first visit, all the way to the same issues when trying to cancel.
Im confused about all the bad reviews, I love this place! It is so clean and the staff is nice! I dont need a huge hello from the front desk person, I just need you to check me in and smile and thats what they do. So idk why the people below are saying the staff is rude. My favorite is the old man at the front desk! Hes so sweet! Their equipment is nice and clean and the locker rooms are amazing. I literally have never been to a nicer gym! I realized how spoiled I was going here when I took a break and did a trial at TruFit downtown, I wanted to explore my options Bc CAC is pricey, let me say grosssssssss the place is old and stinky and is not kept up at all! Id rather pay a ton to work out in a clean environment than to pay less for crap! Moral of the story! You get what you pay for!!!!!
Bunch of snowflakes lift here. You hurt their feelings if you are a little to loud with the weights. They go and tell on you like the kid everyone hates in high school. This is a gym not a library.
Too crowded, untrained class instructors, dirty showers with terrible soap and shampoo and few available lockers. If you want to walk in, use machines and leave this may be the overpriced place for you. If you ask for more for your money keep looking.
The customer service here is beyond awful. they really dont care about doing a good job at all once they get you to join. also, their cancellation policy is absurd. they require 30 days written notice, but will only cancel after they get the chance to bill you for one extra month. so you cancel in mid-may, then will charge you for all of June. so 30 days notice means you really pay for 50 more days.
I went in while on business travel to take the tour and likely purchase a day pass. I was finishing a cup of coffee and asked if I could use the restroom before the tour started. The (rather unfit) woman at the front desk rudely refused. Apparently I would only be allowed to pee after the tour and purchase. Weird & absurd!
There is age discrimination. People over 29 have ro pay more. A significant anount too
Always Clean. Staff is friendly
