Like so many others, I lost my job as a Legal Assistant due to Covid-19 related impacts on the economy. With only one position ever in the legal field for a small, very specialized firm, I was caught in the age-old Catch-22: not enough experience to get experience. And with the added challenge of being in the middle of a pandemic, where in-person contact, let alone one-on-one training was not likely to happen, I was definitely starting to feel a bit discouraged and panicked about my situation. Then Dana Hale at Targeted Legal in Denver reached out. Right away she saw my potential for being a really fantastic fit for a couple of different opportunities with firms she was working with in the Denver area. After an initial phone interview to discuss my work history in more depth, followed by a Zoom meeting to discuss my strengths, weaknesses and where I wanted to go career-wise, she landed me my first interview a week later. After an intense discussion with Dana on how to approach the interview, I totally nailed it. The client loved me and wanted to hire me, but, due to circumstances beyond anyones control, they were unable to in the end. The minute Dana hung up with the client, she called to deliver the bad news and discuss some other openings she thought I would be a great fit for. After another intense series of phone and Zoom calls with Dana, a few days later I was walking into a clients office for a (masked) interview. Thanks to Danas coaching, I nailed that interview too and a week later I started my new job as a Legal Assistant with a really great firm located in the heart of LoDo.
