Great barbers! I’ve been coming here for years. A little more expensive, but you ally worth it for a ver quality haircut
I was so worried about getting the quality haircuts I was used to after moving to Denver since I had gone to a high end mens haircut salon in Chicago. Colter Hale took away all my concerns and has consistently given me the highest quality haircut to my exact, over the top, specifications for a full year now. He goes above and beyond to make sure Im happy and he will do the same for you. Im happy Als employs such dedicated quality people.
After trying out several barber shops in Denver, I can confidently say this is the best one I have used. I booked with Dakota and what a good choice that was. If you care about your hair and want it to look its best then go here and use Dakota. Not only is he a fun and interesting person to talk to, but he takes his craft to heart. During the cut, he talked about how hair cutting doesnt stop after his shift, instead he uses his free time to better enhance his skills and continue learning and improving. That is something I love to hear from someone and something that clearly shows through his abilities. I was incredibly happy with my cut with him and felt great after my appointment. I would highly recommend anyone looking for a quality cut to book him; you will regret going elsewhere. I am very happy I found Als Barber Shop and will continue using their services.
After moving here from Austin, I was searching for a new stylist, and after several auditions at different salons, I landed at Al’s Barbershop. I’ve been to Dakota four times now, and every time he knocks it out of the park!! I leave looking and feeling great, and the location is perfect. If you’re looking for an amazing hair experience look no further, and ask for Dakota!!
I’m a guy that is very particular about my hair and I love how much attention they pay when cutting and styling my hair. They are totally in the zone concentrating on their craft and Ive never left disappointed in the 3 years I have been going to Al’s.I wont see anyone besides Kiyomi or Al even if it means waiting a few extra days for an appointment.
I’ve been going here for over decade, and I will continue going here so long I live within an hour of either location.
Made an appointment over the phone to get a beard trim, get to my appointment and Im told they arent doing beard trims... clearly the staff isnt knowledgeable on what services they are and are not offering during this time. But the place looked nice.
I am embarrassed to admit it has taken me this long to write a review. I have gone to Als for the better part of two decades (between Denver and Boulder) and there has not been a single hair out of place. The shop is clean and professional and the staff has never disappointed. I have gone to Al specifically and would consider him a friend of the family after so many years and so many impeccable hair cuts.If you are looking for a fantastic haircut for an amazing price, Als is worth a drive from anywhere in the Denver/Boulder area.
I have been going to Al’s for a few months now. The main reason for my transition from my previous barber, to Al’s, was for a barber, Colter. Colter is extremely talented at his craft, is personable with his clients, and is always on time. Furthermore, his work station is always clean and sanitary, and I feel comfortable knowing that he takes pride in his work and maintains the tools needed to provide high caliber services. I recommend Al’s Barbershop as a relaxing and comfortable environment to maintain your hair, and specifically, Colter, for his attentiveness to detail and outgoing personality!
Really one hell of a stellar experience. Al is a true artisan of his craft. The experience he provides is above and beyond what you could expect, and he has surrounded himself with a highly skilled customer focused staff. The hospitality they provide is only matched by their skill. This isnt just a shop, its a team. Im very impressed with the loyalty and commandeer Al has been able to inspire. Im not going to lie, I have trust issues when it comes to my hair. Al has created an environment where I feel comfortable in the hands of his associates.Inspiring loyalty and trust are two qualities of a true leader. This alone is reason enough to visit Als shop. The fact that the cut is so sharp, the shave is so close, and environment is so relaxing are just icing on the cake. Thank you for hitting this one out of the park Al.
Old Als spoiled you. But that is no more. They used to offer you beverages and made it a $50 experience well worth the money. Now, not only do they not offer water there don’t offer any beverages, no neck massage, and the front office lady was not very personable, not to mention the downgrade in location to the basement. Now all you get is a haircut for $50. Pretty outrageous for a men’s haircut. There are numerous barbers who offer the exact same services for $15-$20 less downtown Denver.
Als shop has the perfect atmosphere combined with a truly professional staff and a incredible haircut. Ive been here twice now and both experiences have been stellar! Dakota is a master in his craft, one of the best haircuts Ive received in my life!
Had a few issues with scheduling my appointment and then it getting canceled. I was ready to call it quits on this place but David was awesome. I had to wait a while after my appointment time, but he acknowledged the problem and owned it. He made it right. Because of him, I will definitely be back for my next cut.
These guys always do a good job, regardless of who you get. The staff are always Kind, fun, laid back and skilled. Everything you need from a barber. Highly recommend their services.
Dakota is the best in town!! A+++
This is a great shop. she is a nice lady and good barber. I really recommend her to everyone
Ive tried probably 10 barber shops in Denver and this place is the best. I can only speak for James - he takes his time and knows what hes doing. Moved too far away to keep going, and the prices are higher than I want, but you get what you pay for.
I called late morning for an appointment, and received one a couple hrs out on the same day. Great start!I arrived w/ a disheveled transitional mop on my head. Paige didnt blink. She gave an excellent professional side-part haircut that I grew out from a shorter hairstyle w/ only ~1-inch on top. She heard everything I shared w/ her and was very helpful and patient w/ my numerous questions regarding the transition. The only real downside I see is the parking situation (hence 4-stars), but thats to be expected downtown. That said, Als offered parking validation at the Larimer Square Parking Garage for an Hour! So, if youre quick its Free Parking.
Do not recommend for long hair. My husband went there and the hairdresser cut his hair shorter than what we requested. He can no longer do a proper bun, which was his only request. Also the cut was uneven and she forgot to cut 2 strands of hair in the front. He has a lot of hair and the cut was totally straight. He now has a triangular shaped long bob haircut. Don’t go there for long hair haircuts.
Update: I was contacted by the manager based on my previous negative experience. She scheduled me with the owner for a complimentary haircut. The haircut was a vast improvement. I recommend scheduling your cut with Al.I went in for a simple fade and beard trim from James. I had never been before and when I asked which barber to recommend they scheduled me with James. I arrived and the A/C was out but these are old buildings so it didnt bother me that much. The reason Im rating so low is due the rest of the experience. The barber was pissed about the A/C and very vocal about it and at one point aggressively told one of the other staff, who was bringing fresh towels, that it was unacceptable in a tone that appeared to make her extremely uncomfortable. Then the haircut started...he was so shaky it seemed as though he was coming off of a binger. I didnt notice at the time, because of everything else going on, that I didnt get a fade in the back but a weird awkwardly angled hairline in back that was about an inch too high and random patches of hair longer that the rest in the front. Multiple people have commented about the weird cut and cant believe I paid that much for poor quality. Normally, I would give a barber a chance to fix the cut but this is a cut that cannot be fixed and I have to wait for it to grow out. Also I do not feel comfortable sitting through another cut with him. I do not recommend Als.
Great shop! Flew in for a conference and found it in Google. Excellent service and even better haircut. I recommend this shop to everyone.
Dakota was born to cut hair. Best haircut in Denver hands down!
Great cuts and great vibe. Go see Dakota!!
I enjoy having someone spend time cutting my hair and it took me a a few years to find a decent cut after moving to Denver. Ive had cuts from Shannon, Marissa, Brendan and Portia over the past 3 years and I wont go anywhere else. I dont like being in and out in 10 minutes, but if that is your thing this isnt the place for you. You definitely get what you pay for and in this case, Im fine with cost.
Kiyomi is amazing!!! I wouldnt go anywhere else.
Every time i get a haircut there it looks so damn good. And theyre by different people each time. This place has a PENCHANT for picking out talent!
Botched my appt time. Treated me as though I was an inconvenience. Too many actual barber shops to go to in the area. Dont waste your time here.
Great place! Been going here for a handful of years now. Brenden is the man.
Great place, nice people, and had a GREAT haircut. Only problem is that its so expensive, double what Im used to paying. If you can afford it, this is the place to go.
Ive been going here for years. Best haircut in town!
Great service and great prices
Al is great. I havent met him, but I know. You know? #ScratchCollectiveApproved💇💁🙅🙆💃
This is the 5th Haircut Ive received at Als Barbershop. I have been to both the Denver and Boulder locations. Not only do I recommend Als overall, but I can recommend each and every stylist Ive worked with to date, which includes: Paige Flores, Josh Weis, Alex Garone, Marissa Beasley and Kiyomi Lowe. I have received both an excellent Haircut, and outstanding customer service every time. Als does cost more, but you get what you pay for at Als.While every stylist Ive worked with gave excellent cuts, if you are looking for a more detailed conversation about your hair, hair products or hair tools, work with Kiyomi. She is a trained educator, and seems to communicate her knowledge the best.
Growing long hair with the help of Brendan has actually succeeded this time and looks really good.
I have been going here for years. Best place on the front range.
For the best style in town.
I give this place one star for the service I received today. The only positive experience was the accommodation to have an appointment available after work at 5:15. I was scheduled with James and asked on the phone is he good with skin close fades because my hair grows fast and I like it close. They assured me that I was in good hands. When I get there, I explain to James what I wanted. I explained that I like it close so I would like a skin fade and nothing on the top because I am growing it. I even showed him a picture. He is cutting my hair and then works on my beard that I also wanted trimmed. I noticed the shop was closing soon Bc I could see the receptionist walking by a couple of times and watching me from the distance. After he was done with my beard, he said, You are all done how does it look? I looked at the back and sides then told him, there seems to be a line could you fix it? He said, well I can go over it again?I then asked if he was going to go closer since I stated in the beginning I wanted it skin close. He said well I used a 1 but I could do a zero. I told him yes please I want it close. He spent another few minutes on my hair. I can tell he was upset Bc it was closing and he had to fix my hair. He was taking deep breaths and threw his towel in the sink. But if he had cut it right from the beginning and not leave lines, he would have been done earlier. Once he was done, it looked a little better but I still was not happy. I get to the front desk at 6 when they closed and the receptionist just tells me the amount. She doesnt ask how everything was or inform me of the first time customer discount she told the others that were there before me. Her and James definitely seemed to be frustrated Bc I was there and they wanted to leave. The only person being polite was who seemed to be Al, the owner. I left Als and immediately went to Floyds for them to fix the haircut that James gave me. The guy at Floyds took the time to listen, review the bad haircut and explain what needed to be done. Once he was done, it looked 10 times better. I was very disappointed with how my service was at Als, especially since I went to them because of their high ratings and reviews. From what I see, Al is the best one to cut hair. If I ever went back, I would only go to him. Poor haircut. Poor experience. Poor service.
Shannon and Sara are great, nice shop you get what you pay for here
Are you kidding me.. JASON has one side of my head an inch, at least, shorter than the other side.. SERIOUSLY FOR $50?
Terrible cutting skills, especially if you are African American. Straight siccors and combs and everything crew. I am sorry, I tried
Fantastic service and skill.
Friends and neighbors are awesome
Not a great haircut and the barber seemed annoyed that I asked him to make adjustments.
Al knows how to cut hair! I will ne back!
Very difficult to schedule a service using their online account. I cant account for their actual service since I cant seem to schedule one. So, 1 start for now.
Still cant find a barber as good as David.
Top shelf, best in Denver, for sure!!
Jason rocks
