Slumlord property management. they did construction to my apartment for months without my consent and constantly ignored my complaints. they made my 1 bedroom apt a 2 bedroom by converting the space next door but never actually converted it, just cut a whole in my wall while i wasn’t home and my dog was alone. they told me they would credit me since i missed a day of work (i knew the construction started bc of my pet camera) then said that they wouldn’t. oh and homeless people charge their phones and sleep in the laundry. breezeway at the apt assures that you never have privacy. DO NOT MOVE HERE. there is a park in front that is always loud and full of people 24/7. my experience with wheelhouse apts was at pebble creek apts in co springs. i never even rented from them, the property was sold to wheelhouse during my lease. this is a SLUMLORD property management that preys on people of low income.

Do not rent from these people, I repeat do not rent from these people!! They are heartless, selfish, inconsiderate people. They just took over management on apartments on 55th and Newland Way and evicted the entire community. We are talking about people who lived there for many, many years that had no problems with rent even during this pandemic. Left them to go on the streets, people crying, elderly that were living comfortably that are now devasted not knowing what they are going to do with their lives. I will let everyone know about this. My heart hurts for them. I think the news needs to know about these inhumane people.

The apartment we moved into was absolutely disgusting. Nothing was cleaned, paint in the bathroom coated the floor, toilet, sink, and even the toilet paper that was left. The baseboards were coated in dirt and animal hair and when wiping it off, they painted over even more animal hair which could not be removed. Holes in the bottom of the doors outside allowing bugs to come in. Extremely overpriced. Do not recommend.

The management is terrible and straight up disrespectful. They will ignore maintenance requests for their faulty appliances for years.Absolutely unprofessional. They are the definition of slumlords and will not only lie to you, but will also ignore important communications for weeks at a time, try to slip in automatic charges on your account and blame it on the system when you catch them (theyve done this for literal years and clearly have no intention of changing.)Do not rent from these people. They will let your apartment become infested with rodents, bugs, or even both, and refuse to do anything about it other than set some traps and call it a day. Your neighbors are allowed to freely chainsmoke in their apartment and management will gaslight you about your own living conditions.I cant believe children live here. Once I can afford to leave Im going to use any of the multitude of valid reasons I have been given to prematurely terminate my lease, and do so.

Have lived here in the Highlands apartments for over 2 years. More issues than I can count. Each year the “A/C” breaks for days or weeks at a time. They’ve had to send electricians out several times and the issue is never resolved. They then try to blame it on the swamp cooler and the location on the roof in reference to my apartment as to what’s causing me not to get airflow. I’m paying the same price as everyone else since utilities are shared, but I’m not receiving what I pay for. All I hear is “sorry for the inconvenience”.I’ve been denied requests for a portable A/C unit when my apartment is above 90 degrees for the entire summer. They also refuse to compensate or reduce utility costs even after admitting that the swamp cooler unit either doesn’t work or saying that I’m just in an “unlucky” location and get too much sun for the unit to cool my space. Maintenace is always great and do what they can to pick up the slack for the rest of the company not being willing to help. Mike and his crew deserve a raise for having to play damage control. All in all, this is my fault for renewing each year after knowing that the issues will persist with little to no care from anybody at wheelhouse. I’m sure they enjoy the luxury of A/C they pay for in their homes, so why would my lack of comfort matter to them?

Updating my review because most of my previous issues have ultimately been resolved. The previous property managers made it seem like they had the property under control, but it turns out that they didnt and passed it onto Wheelhouse to deal with. While it may take them a bit longer to fulfill maintenance requests since they have so many residents, they do get it done and do it right the first time. I was just settling into this place and the management and am sad I have to go.

No matter what I did they kept coming back so I submitted another maintenance request a month or soLater, and this time they told me they’d be able to fumigate, but it would take 2 days. Me, unable to stay in a bug infested room, got in contact with one of the property managers? His name was Greg., He spent half of the phone call arguing with me telling me I hadn’t posted a bed bug maintenance request, and then when he finally found it he said there was nothing he could do to help me, but that he would still check and call me back to tell me if he would be able to offer any type of assistance. No email, no phone call/voicemail, nothing.

This was the worst experience I have ever had. PERIOD. They showed apartments that were not for rent so be sure to do a showing in person prior to signing contract. The original unit that was being advertised as a 2 bedroom was actually a 3 bedroom and not similar in anyway... so when I showed up to find a unit that was nothing like the ad and no disclosure given that it was not the unit shown in picture I was beyond frustrated and felt like some SEEDY SHADY business was being done on the Wheelhouse side. Stephanie was informed and never changed the ad or apologize for the confusion.... Stephanie was rude, unorganized and caught in flat out lies. Stephanie was unavailable most days and then coworkers threw her under the bus later about her availability. No one can be easily reached via phone and the only person to answer a phone was maintenance. Multiple showings scheduled that no one from Wheelhouse showed up or they did show and we could not find them nor could they be reached via phone. Every unit I did get to view in person was taken but I was not notified until after leaving the showing. They took money, they lied, and they are being reported to the BBB. It is bad business messing with peoples homes...

We rented from Wheelhouse, the maintenance crew is great but when it comes time getting a hold of someone at wheelhouse forget it . I had to move out because of a domestic issue and Ashley was fine with it approved of my move out date .Then when it came time to return my deposit wheelhouse double the money on the 6 days It took to get moved out because she would not get back a hold of the rental company which that took her 3 days to return the call so she charged me for the 3 days it took her to get to the the new rental company . Then she charged me 71 dollars for the days I was over the first cool .But then she took 450 dollars out of my deposit so Ashley double dipped for the 7 days I went over the first of the move to out. Then she charged me 288. for not given her a 30 days notice because it was a domestic issue so it was a move for my safety and my daughters . Crazy how it was not about our safety but about putting money into her pocket or the wheelhouse pocket .I love the owners of Cheery Creek Square Apartments but wheelhouse will rip you off in the end do not rent from Wheelhouse bad company to rent from.

We were scammed out of our deposit. We left the apartment cleaner then we received it. We took a video of the apartment right before turning in our keys. We got an email with pictures of damages from a DIFFERENT UNIT. They sent several closeups of dirt and chipped paint. This corner and wall with the thermostat is the only identifiable one (thermostat is the only point of reference in the pictures they sent). These are still from the video we took and as you can see it is not the same wall and corner from the picture sent by management. When we emailed them to confront this lie they never replied to us again. We have the full video, we have the emails, but they use the pandemic as an excuse to avoid responsibility and get away with taking advantage of people during this vulnerable time. We know nothing will be gained personally from posting this review. We only hope that the people reading these reviews see the patterns and the consistencies in people’s experiences and are able to make an informed decision before signing the lease.

The apartments are cheap. And they are cheap for a reason. They don’t have maintenance people working the phones on the weekend, and sometimes they don’t get back to you for days on end, even when the power is out on your apartment. The buildings are super old and they don’t care to fix them up. When we first moved in they didn’t even clean up the apartment deeply and the shower and bath didn’t work, and the windows didn’t open! You are paying for a cheap quality apartment. When the maintenance does come, they are very helpful and do what the can to fix the apartment. But the management company is very subpar.

When we first moved in in 2014, everything was pretty good considering the circumstances. The rent was adequate for the cleanliness and overall shape of the apartment. The maintenance guy was really quick and did quality work. The pool opened every year and was cleaned regularly. Since then rent has gone up, and service has gone down. The pool was closed down due to structural issues. They handed out a survey to ask whether the tenants would prefer the pool to be fixed or a new barbecue area. As far as I know most tenants voted for the pool, but of course Wheelhouse never really planned on fixing it - too expensive. A week ago they started piling up dirt in the courtyard and now its sitting there, while the maintenance people went on a long weekend or something. We are left to stare at the dirt and the kids have no room to play anymore. It takes the (new) maintenance team weeks if not months to fix an issue, but only if you ask at least three times. The general atmosphere has become worse, everyone is just sick of the lack of service. For us, this place is not worth the money anymore, we will not extend our lease.

Originally our place was a total wreck when we moved in and I reviewed that one. This is an updated one. We live in the Clermont buildings. They have since fixed EVERYTHING- no questions asked- within a month. If youre a young adult, these apartments are great for you. Its close to Trader Joes, starbucks, college inn and many more! Its a very quiet apartment area within itself, however since it is right by the streets and Rose hospital, there are some street noises, but nothing too bad. This place is a no dog apartment which I love. Though I love dogs, waking up at 5 am to other peoples barking dogs is not cool. Ive learned that if you have a liscenced dog and inform the office, then you can keep your dog. However, should your dog disturb anyone multiple times, you will be kicked out. Sorry dog lovers. 💁 They do allow cats 🐱 though! As far as any other noise goes its a fairly quiet place. Many young adults seem to reside here and believe it or not, theyre all respectful of quiet hours.Since the apartments are fairly older, there is a bit of work being done to them often, but nothing that should ever be a great inconvenience to you. The management team do a great job keeping the area clean and up to date.

Although there are issues with the buildings & tenants, I came here to give a personal shoutout to Donnie from maintenance. Most apartment complexes rarely send maintenance on time & when they do, maintenance doesn’t care enough to spend more than 10 minutes fixing a problem. Regarding Winbro Apartments (1620 Grant St.)I lived in Winbro for over two years, from ages 22-24.I moved to Denver without seeing the apartment, but had my sister scope it out, and was pleasantly surprised by the buildings central location downtown. The studio is SMALL (325 sq ft) but once you arrange it they way you like it, it seems like more than enough space. The worst thing about the apartments layout is by far the miniscule kitchen space but I was certainly able to make it work for me - I dont cook much. While most of the people in the building were friendly, there was a fair amount of package theft. The property managers refuse to install cameras to prevent theft and continually blame the theft on homeless people. If you live here, or anywhere in Capitol Hill, homeless people will become a matter of daily living. You will see them, they will see you, and you might even catch a glimpse of intravenous drug use. Twice in my two years, I found a homeless man in the apartment lobby. As a woman who lives alone, this is frustrating and scary. However, it is usually due to other tenants propping the door open. If you are not ready to see this kind of behavior, avoid living in downtown Denver. It isnt just Winbro, it is unavoidable when living in a big city. Some of the people who have left reviews were clearly not equipped for city living. Some reviews have claimed that the building is infested with bugs. As of November 2020, I have seen one cockroach in an actual apartment unit, though I did see them scarcely on the main floor and in the lobby. When I addressed this face-to-face with the maintenance man, he told me that it was not a cockroach, though it certainly was.My neighbor, who lived in a 1-bedroom, would constantly put food in his garbage disposal. I would never have guessed anyone in that old building would have a disposal, but I could hear it every day. Moreover, when he would use the disposal, my sink would bubble over and gurgle. It smelled like garlic and rotten meat. I called the maintenance line numerous times and this was never taken care of. I got a bucket and opened up the drain pipes myself. At the end of my lease, I had broken blinds and a broken drawer. I requested that maintenance fix them three separate occasions. When my lease was up, they still had not fixed them. They charged me $60 for blinds and $10 for a broken drawer despite the fact that I put in several maintenance requests. Once I called to place a request, the secretary acted as if I was stupid and told me to place the request online. I did, to no avail. While living here, I renewed my lease once. They wanted to raise my rent from $850 to $890 for simply no good reason. When I asked them why and explained that I was in college, they had no sympathy and told me that my perfect payment history did not matter, because I should be paying on time anyway. We did settle on $875.One thing about Wheelhouse that really gets under my skin - you have to write a letter saying you are going to vacate the premises and no longer wish to renew your lease 60 days prior to your intended move-out day. When I could not renew my lease due to Covid-19, I found out about 25 days prior. I explained my situation and was rudely and repeatedly belittled and treated horribly. I was essentially forced, due to this policy, to rent my apartment for an additional month, as to not break my lease, and fulfill the 60 day policy. Thats $875 of rent I did not have, in addition to various fees they tacked on regarding my move. I literally did not live there during this time but still paid my rent to fulfill this inane policy of theirs. All in all, living at Winbro, I experienced some of the best years of my life. I loved my apartment deeply and took great pride in the neighborhood. The management is awful, the maintenance is awful, and the people answering the phones are awful. But you can make this space more than livable if you have a little hope and $400 for a portable air conditioner.

I don’t even know where to begin, but I will give details since the leasing manager Kiersten refused to hear me out. I had two apartment showings with Boutique/Wheelhouse that were great, with a friendly agents Ethan and Stephanie. However, today I had a showing that was an absolute nightmare. I arrived exactly on time to my 4pm showing, got out of my car and was walking over when the leasing agent Will walked in with the two other people he was showing the apartment. I walked up expecting the door to be unlocked and it was not. I sent the leasing agent a text at 4:01pm telling him I was there, no response. Knocked on the door and waited, called him at 4:04 but no answer. Sent him another text at 4:05 telling him I was outside but no answer. Called him a second time at 4:07 and left him a message. At 4:09 he came out with the other two people and I approached him. He asked how I was, I told him fine but cold, he replied by saying that “we start promptly at 4”, I told him I was there at 4. No response so I decided to leave and told him “I was just going to leave.” He replied and said I could do that, and as I was walking back to my car parked in front of the apartment I replied that “I didn’t need a leasing management company that would treat me that way”.However, according to the leasing manager Kiersten, the leasing agent said I didn’t text him until 4:05 pm, I told her that was not true, she replied by saying “you can’t alter the time on a text” (no but you can delete them). I offered to send her a screenshot and she didn’t want it. I sent it anyway so she could see the truth. He also apparently said I cussed at him, none of which was true, but Kiersten refused to hear that either. I felt like I was polite, especially regarding the situation as I didn’t cuss or yell. In contrast, Kiersten was very rude and accusatory and refused to hear my side of the story even though she claimed that was what she wanted in returning my call. She then hung up on me when I told her how unprofessionally both of them were being and that I would leave a negative review.I’m absolutely dumbfounded at how I was treated by them and would steer clear of renting here.EDIT: Because of this review about the situation I encountered, I am not allowed to tour properties with them. Not very professional.

A pretty seamless showing, move-in, and lease signing! Everything was clean and ready, maintenance is always helpful, and the renters portal is a gift. Our leasing agent was also always helpful even when we called early (presumably on her day off...) for help and important info. Still like the apartment and situation months after move in, too 👍 10/10

Totally shady company; our previous apartment building fell apart once they took over from the previous management. It went from being well-maintained to a total mess. They also charged us a weird “termination fee” when we moved out, despite us moving out just prior to lease end (and paying in full until end of lease) and giving ample warning, and have been totally unresponsive to questions.

It is extremely hard to get any response in any sort of timely fashion from this agency. Also they sometimes send deceitful emails about when they will turn on the heat, and lie to your face about why the heat is not on. Not trustworthy, horrible company. My friend lives in one of their units and someone was murdered in the hall outside of their apartment very violently, but the staff had nothing to say or do about the situation. The residents are very much on their own here.

Even if you DO have it scheduled to be sprayed for, and made special provisions for your pets so they can come spray, and they just dont show up. Called the pest control company only to find out Wheelhouse never even scheduled the spray as they said they had. Your belongings will be ruined by bugs, and they just dont care. They are unresponsive and only concerned about themselves. You will hate your life if you rent from these people. SAVE yourself and look elsewhere.

I lived in the Wheelhouse Apartments for 2 years (November 2017-2019).The leasing process was easy and quick at the beginning, the apartments are obviously face lifted but nice enough and cheap. I lived on the top floor, so no elevator didn’t seem like an issue, but dragging laundry, groceries, etc. up and down became a big annoyance to me (but workable for the price). They do not do much, if anything, about snow and ice in the winter but I only found the top stairs to be a pain. The apartment in general doesn’t get much light, so just something to note. My biggest issue with the apartment is the communication and expectations for your living. A few examples of things I experienced:1. I was without a shower for about a week in 2018 and told that was completely normal living standards. I thought I would get some sort of reimbursement for not being able to shower in my own apartment for 6 days (including the weekend) but did not.2. My refrigerator had a terrible rattle that would happen all day & night which I could hear through the closed bedroom door. They told me the fridge worked and that was that.3. In September & October 2019 the Englewood PD were at the apartment complex for various issues – which was a bit concerning since I lived alone. The last event was just dog barking (the other instances were domestic violence, which kept the police banging on the apartment door until about midnight in one occurrence). You will get no information or acknowledgement from the apartment on anything.I asked if someone else could help me going forward as I found the property manager difficult to get answers/information from – but I was told numerous times “sorry we can patch you through to their line if they are in the office. When I was able to talk on the phone, I felt I was talking to a blank wall, he stays on the phone silent and then will say something short to get off. I found it rude, but for the majority of my time there I didn’t need to talk to anyone. When I put in my notice to vacate living there became awful because you need to talk to people to move out. It was horrible, I would ask for phone calls or emails and everything was so delayed. I never had an issue with maintenance requests, but anything with the property manager was a big ordeal for some reason.Ultimately, I left over the safety concerns. When police are constantly at the apartments, banging on my neighbor’s door – I was expecting some information. I would never recommend a friend to live here. While the price is cheap for Denver, beware as you get what you pay for with living in these units and working with this management complex.

They are very quick and accommodating when they want you to rent. After move in? You are on your own.I will say the maintenance guys are very helpful when they can be, and they are very personable and love my dogs. I feel like the bigger issue is the logistics in the higher up department.I am writing this review because I am at my wits end.- They gave us the wrong mailbox key to someone elses mailbox upon move in!!- Moved in October 2018, heat wasnt working. We were given a small space heater and didnt have functioning heat until FEBRUARY after many many cold snow days.- Come summertime, AC didnt work. Had to wait for parts. Lo and behold the parts didnt fix it either so we had to wait for a brand new AC unit to be delivered. We went a couple months without proper working AC as well.- You cant cook without setting off the smoke alarm as there is NOT ventilation in the kitchen. I simply opened the oven door to stir some baking potatoes and set the smoke alarm off. If you use more than 1 stovetop burner at a time youll set the smoke alarm off. The kitchen ventilation is a serious issue. On New Years eve, one unit tried making French fries and set the entire buildings fire alarm off due to lack of ventilation, there wasnt even a fire but everyone had to evacuate in the middle of the night due to the poor ventilation.- There are 3 washers and 3 dryers for 4 floors to share. 1 dryer works, and as of today, 2 washers work. I reported the broken dryers over a year ago and still nothing has been done. Even new tenants I see trying to use the dryers having the same old issues. And now today, one of the 3 washers broke and ate my quarters. It kept resetting the price and saying error. Its extremely frustrating.- The floors will scratch if the wind blows too strong...like damn dude you cant even put furniture down on the floor without causing a dent. Take it out of my deposit, sure! I guess I shouldve known better than to have furniture in my place.- The building is old, and I didnt really think being on the 3rd floor would be so bad until its time to move furniture in...and lug your groceries upstairs without an elevator. Going up 3 flights of stairs after a surgery was an absolute nightmare.- The parking situation around here is so bad, but they dont offer parking permits. I have received several tickets just for parking at my own home.- My building doesnt get our own dumpster. We share it with the property next door to us which leads to massive overflow. Not to mention the amount of homeless people that camp out in that garage, throwing trash and needles everywhere. You cant take your trash out alone at night, you have to wait for daytime. Since the homeless like to camp out there, they also like to corner you and harass you as well!Take it for what you will, but I am tired of living here and plan to leave once this lease has ended! They do nothing to make living here a pleasant experience!

Wheelhouse/Boutique is by far the worst property management company Ive ever had to deal with. I have mold in my bathroom because there is no ventilation. When I complained about it they sent over a painter who just painted over the mold...one coat...then left leaving all his equipment including a huge fan in my tiny bathroom..claimed he would be back later that day and I still havent heard from him. No clean up no treatment no scraping of the mold just paint. It was such a sloppy paint job I now have paint on the bathroom sink selves bathtub and floor and needless to say the mold is now coming through the new paint. Its been less than a month. There is so much wrong with my unit...no hot water no heat and so much more but they keep charging me fees. Thats the one thing they are good at...charging fees. Its gotten so bad Ive now gotten the city involved and have started talking to my neighbors. If I could give them negative starts I would.

Ive had really good luck with Wheelhouse. And thats saying A LOT. Ive experienced both ends of the spectrum, from fantastic to horrific when it comes to apartment management. With Wheelhouse, the process was a breeze - I walked in, I knew, I applied, I was approved, I signed - getting the keys is something you have to plan on (I guess), because you have to go to their main office down on Santa Fe, but still fairly painless, nonetheless.I live in one of their smaller properties outside of Denver proper, and its been wonderful. I love my apartment, which is completely updated and new, I love the location, and I love the building Im in. Its quiet, its quaint and its comfortable. So far (Ive been in my unit 4 months), management has been great. Theyre very communicative with their tenants when things are going on, which I greatly appreciate, having come from an apartment community that never communicated with their tenants at all, and theyre very professional. They tell you whats going on, what to expect, how to prepare, how they can help, etc.In all, I have no complaints with Wheelhouse. Im not saying that couldnt change, but so far, so good. Im actually really happy with them right now.

My experience with Wheelhouse (since April 2015) has been pretty outstanding. I live in the Altair apartment building - I wanted to take this opportunity to highlight some of the great work that these guys do.First, the cleaning crew that comes into our apartment building to clean the common areas - they do great work! They even pull out the washers and dryers to clean behind and around the machines. These guys definitely work hard.Second, our boiler went out the other day - consequently, we have been without heat since Tuesday. On Wednesday, the maintenance crew came into our building and gave every resident a space heater so we didnt have to sleep in the cold. Honestly - the boiler going out is a temporary issue that will be fixed quickly - but the fact that Wheelhouse supplied all of us with space heaters - that is such a kind gesture that proves they really care for their residents comfort and well-being.In addition to that, the maintenance crew came around 8:30pm to deliver space heaters - obviously, this is well after their normal work hours and I greatly appreciate them going above and beyond to make sure we stay warm. Finally, a couple months ago, a new resident accidentally parked in the wrong space in our lot. Wheelhouse staff were made aware of this issue and tracked this person down to notify them before they got towed. Ive rented with plenty of property management companies - Wheelhouse is definitely a management company Im happy to do business with. It is evident that they really do care about their residents and take pride in their jobs! Thanks, Wheelhouse staff!

Our furnace is outdated and showed signs of carbon monoxide emissions and without fixing anything turned it back on without regards to our health. I was injured slipping on ice on the property that they refuse to make sure it is cleared properly and are not taking responsibility for the injury and a laundry list of other issues that they finally started chipping away after contacting them several times over several months. They take no responsibility or accountability to keep their residents safe and happy. Do not rent from this company!

Dont rent apartments through these people. I was shown a unit at 1234 E. Colfax ave in which the tenant moved out 2 days prior. The place was disgusting. Hair and dirt everywhere. Random stuff left behind. The bathroom was a wreck. I was hurried through the apartment tour, but since I liked the location of the building I decided to put an application in. I was told that I would be able to do a walk through of the place BEFORE I sign a lease because it was in really bad condition. I had questions about the place that were not answered for me at all, but when the leasing agent needed information from me she would always call and email me. I was approved but still no information was given to me about the condition of the apartment or any of the questions I asked. Something happened and I ended up moving back to my old apartment so I let my leasing agent know that I would not be moving in. She emailed me the day after saying that my $200 hold fee is non-refundable because I did not let her know within 24hrs (of my application being approved). I called wheelhouse and spoke with Courtney, because I was never told that the fee was non-refundable. She said that I was told by my leasing agent at the time that I paid. Which I was not. My main concern was that I told them I would not sign a lease without another walk through because of the condition of the apartment. She lied and told me that maintenance said the apartment was in perfect condition. If it was in perfect condition, I was never made aware of the repairs made. Courtney refused to answer my questions and ultimately hung up on me, even though I was very calm with her. I just checked their website and their online application page conveniently changed. This is a shady company and I could complain about a lot of other things that made me uncomfortable as well. The entire process was awful.

So happy with my experience so far! Everything has been easy, from the showing of the apartment(shout out to Samantha Chacon, my leasing agent...who was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and personable!), to the application process, move in, and renting/living here so far. The security of the building is great, as well as parking. The rent is fair for the location and space. I have not needed to call maintenance, but they seem to respond quickly to other tenants I have spoken with who needed to call them.I only gave 4 stars because the apartment wasn’t all the way cleaned when I moved in. It was nothing really to complain about, but I had to do some extra cleaning, especially in the bedrooms and living room as soon as I moved in. I work too much to fill out the whole move in checklist of anything being wrong, and turn it back in. And there was nothing that needed fixed, just cleaned. So just thought I’d mention it.Other than that, I am extremely happy overall! I had to call close to their office closing time to ask a question about my online account, and I don’t remember the name of the person I spoke with...but she was soo friendly and helpful! Ive had few issues with this rental company so far (biggest one was the apartment was very dirty when i moved in.) however, every maintenance request i have ever submitted someone was here within hours (or next business day) to fix the issue. Biggest issues with apartment overall are the heat (works, then doesnt work) and the noise. The street is loud (mayor apartments) and the windows are very old meaning the cold air seeps right in also. there is also a hospital 2 blocks away so if you are moving here be prepared to hear sirens constantly and the neighborhood is under construction.Otherwise, the maintenance guys are so friendly as is my landlord.

I lived in the Topaz apartments for 2 years. I rented with Wheelhouse because they were affordable and I guess I got what I paid for. The management company took very poor care of the property. Things would constantly break and go unfixed. The stairs were rusted and in overall bad condition. Many of my neighbors had their apartments flood whenever there was rain or snow.My apartment its self was cheaply remodeled. Paint would peel off the walls everywhere, the fake wood floors would scratch easily, and all of the appliances were cheap and in poor condition.Communicating with the management company was such a challenge. Maintenance requests would go ignored and trying to reach anyone in the finance or upper management department was impossible. I once tried for weeks to get in touch with someone in the finance department and no one ever picked up the phone or answered my emails. Eventually, I just gave up.There are definitely other places out there that are better and not significantly more expensive than the Wheelhouse apartments. My new apartment is twice the size of the one at the Topaz building, with a much nicer interior, and its only 2 blocks away from where I was originally living. More importantly, it is only $195 more than what it currently costs to rent my apartment with Topaz. If you are thinking of settling on an apartment with this company, please consider that there are many reasonably priced places that will offer a far better living situation with a more professional company.

Our lease includes an early termination fee, which I understand. However, were wanting to get around paying it, as we have had a terrible time living in this building. Some examples of things going wrong:Signed a lease saying this is a non smoking building. Everyone smokes here! And our neighbor (who we share walls with) has been smoking in his apt up until now (hes moving out).A roofer fell through our roof. The emergency maintenance wouldnt help me clean up debris because he didnt feel like it. However, I informed him I needed help because of my asthma, and not having appropriate cleaning supplies, still didnt come.We have small storage lockers on sight, which we provide our own locks. They had to break into ours because of needing access to a possibly broken pipe. Pipe wasnt broken, but they broke some of our belongings, covered everything in dirt, and then left the door wide open with some of our belongings out, didnt even tell us for over a week. And lastly, we went all winter with no heat, and not much communication. But when we moved in we were told it works, and is included in price. Well not only did it not work, our rent stayed the same, and our electricity bill tripled trying to use space heaters. When I asked for compensation, or to talk to the owner, the male manager said they hire people like me to deal with people like you so he doesnt have to.Many other problems.
