Great climbing gym! Friendly helpful staff. Large bouldering (only - in regards to climbing) area with lots of different types of problems for all skill levels and climbing types (static, dynamic). Most of the problems are in the overhang type wall, but many areas including balance type walls.A day pass gets you access to the bouldering gym and very large cardio and weight gyms.Very clean changing rooms (the whole gym is quite clean and well maintained) with showers and combination lock type lockers to keep your valuables in.
Had a great time climbing at Oso. Being from out-of-town it was wonderful to get to climb at such a modern and clean gym. The setting was great and there were things for both beginners and advanced climbers to tackle. This would definitely be my home gym if I lived in Dallas and I would gladly come back for a visit!
Awesome GYM! The incredible wall climbing is definitely the main attraction but this place has it all. Very well put together weight room and functional training gym, cardio machines, beautiful locker rooms, great hangout spots, a BAR and lounge overlooking the walls, friendly staff and more. Great job team OSO!
New gym for the Dallas area. I was told they opened during 2020 and figured out how to make it work, very rad! The place is clean, staff is friendly, routes are fun. But of different energy than I’m used to but definitely can’t knock points for that. Would need to go more than once and see the community more before any judgements. Lots of extra stuff in the gym, in the bathrooms, etc they definitely want you to feel like you’re getting a little more value for your membership here. — I’m not sure if this will replace my daily climb spot but I’ll give it a couple more tries for sure.
Best decision I made for my health and fitness goals for this year. This gym is PHENOMENAL. Not to mention super clean and furnished with amazing amenities and equipment. You’ll find the friendliest people and staff here. All around perfect gym for climbing and strength training!
Oso has become a second home for me and my venture to a healthier lifestyle. The gym is always clean and the staff is amazing— they take pride in seeing their customers get to the next level. The gym offers many classes from climbing, weights, to yoga. The gym features a sauna, showers, lockers, a kilter board, weight room, and aerobics area, and free bandages when you get scraped up climbing. The gym has bouldering beginner routes, all the way to v10++ extremely technical routes, no rope climbing, but there is so much more to offer here than just a great climbing experience.
This gym doesnt have any top roping but thats okay, top roping is climbing with extra steps. The gym portion/weight room was one of the best Ive seen in any climbing gym. They have all the equipment you could want (dumbbells, mace, clubs, foam rollers, etc). The climbs are very fun but there arent a lot of walls to choose from. Just pick a hard route and keep projecting it or check out the moon board!I cant think of any bad things about this gym except maybe adding more climbs and filling out some walls, but please visit if you have time!
This gym has been a blessing to be a part of during the past year of craziness. They maintained strict guidelines during the height of the pandemic in order to allow members to climb/workout, but safely. The staff are all very welcoming whether it be upon arrival, mid-session, or even as you walk out the doors they are there to give you a wave.Well worth the cost of membership and so thankful to have found this place to hang.
This gym is absolutely amazing! By far one of the nicest facilities Ive ever been in. The climbing area is massive with just about every climbing option available. The fitness, cardio, and yoga areas are clean and beautifully organized. The staff at Oso is one of the friendliest and most helpful Ive ever met. The value you receive for your membership rate is unbelievable. I cant recommend this place enough!
I would live at Oso if I didnt reside 45 minutes away. Out of all the climbing gyms in the DFW-Metroplex, Oso is hands-down my favorite! The facility opened up about a year ago so its very new. I love that everything is so clean and well maintained. The problems here are pretty fun. Oso scales by ranges (v2-v4, v4-v6, etc.) so it can be hard to gauge how difficult a problem actually is. Because of this, Ive run into some very difficult easy problems and some very simple hard problems. Now when I come here, I just climb. The wood walls simply make me happy! The space is large so there are spots to study, play board games/piano, and chill. I think they actually have a coffee bar upstairs - no one was working it when I was there. The actual fitness area is pristine too. The equipment are very new and they have all the necessities. I would totally work out here on the days that Im not climbing (if I had a membership and lived nearby). I seriously cannot rave about this location enough.Day Pass: $22 + TaxMonthly Membership: around $60/month + taxNote: Their membership comes with all access, fitness classes, and so many fun events!P.S. A one-week free trial is available for new guests on their website. Highly recommend trying out the gym!P.P.S. Check out the bathroom here. You will be amazed.P.P.P.S. Their rental shoes arent great. Bring your own if you can.
Awesome place to workout at! Choose from yoga, rock climbing or weight-lifting. The facilities are super clean, the employees are friendly and the new bar area was well needed 👌 👏 Great concept!
Awesome setting and a great workout area. Also has sauna and showers.
This place is awesome for climbing! The walls arent that high, but there are no safety harnesses. Theres only a large mat below the walls. This makes for a great free climbing experience! Membership prices arent too bad considering that they include the gym next door. Those also yoga Pilates and other classes that they have daily. They changed the walls up every month, so it keeps you on your toes! They have a professional rock climbing guy set up the walls. The paths are all color coded by difficulty. There are seven or eight difficulties. Shoes are provided for climbing. And there is a nice sauna and bathroom with showers. I definitely recommend this place as a fun event for a group or if you just want a new experience!
Before I moved to Dallas several years ago, I used to climb. Our neighbors told us about OSO, and we joined after the first visit. It is exceptionally clean for a bouldering gym. They have a sauna, weight room and fitness classes, so it makes for an all around solid choice for a gym. What really makes this gym great is the people! The staff are incredibly warm and knowledgeable. There are meetups of all kinds, and it’s easy to meet and make friends here. I can’t recommend their climbing technique classes. Rhea, Blake, and Daniel are wonderful at breaking down climbing mechanics and helping you read a route. Blake is always spot on with his recommendations and has helped me improve a lot. The coaches for fitness classes are great, too. Bonnie never fails to exhaust me with her workouts.
Amazing climbing with incredible variety of bouldering routes. Great full workout gym & bathroom/shower facilities -well kept & clean.OSO Staff helpful & friendly, & made us feel they we genuinely happy to serve us as members. (Other climbing gyms that act like they are doing us a favor, & seem to forget we are clients)Great experience & definitely coming back soon!
The energy. The sauna. The amenities. The staff. The sanitary conditions. All great!! They have yoga classes and interval training classes. There’s also an area to sit and work. Been going for 2 months and loving it.
Its a good gym and I am a member, but I do wish they had a student discount or a climbing only membership. I really just go there for bouldering and I feel like $85 + monthly is a bit much for a student like me.
Went there on a guest pass. Their whole set up is state of the art. Wish there were more across town. Would buy a membership if it wasn’t so far away. Great experience
This place is amazing! Where do I start? There are walls for days to climb, everything is top quality and super clean. I also have enjoyed having a full gym and classes to enhance my climbing endurance when Im not climbing. Oh and the staff is always super helpful and energetic. I love the atmosphere, the meet ups they have make meeting new climbers and friends so fun! Youve gotta try it!
Very nice place with good climbs.very clean and kept well. I like the variety of climbs. Locker rooms are really nice.
I chose that score, because it was the best score I could choose. The staff were friendly, and the environment, overall, was pleasant.
Super helpful and friendly staff! Great for beginners, circuits are updated frequently, great resources for climbers of all levels!
Best climbing gym Ive ever been too. Staff is great and fundamentals class was so so helpful
I have been working out at Oso since it opened with Taylor Roberts, one of their coaches/personal trainers. To start the gym is wonderful - spacious, always clean, great staff, and all the equipment you could need. I admit I dont climb, but everyone who does loves it.I have been working out with Taylor in both semi private and private training sessions and he has impacted my health both physically and mentally more than I could have imagined. Hes very well versed in everything having to do with your body. I am currently stronger than I have ever been and feel great. I truly look forward to our workouts. Ive seen him transform people of all shapes, sizes, ages, and genders. Working out with Taylor Roberts has been one of the best investments I have ever made for myself.
This gym is great. They have a good variety of setting styles. Good for beginners and advanced climbers. The walls are smooth unlike most gyms (less bleeding) . The pads are amazing; the seams are basically non existent. The employees are top notch in service and climbing advice. They also do a great job with covid protocols. Check this place out!
Pros: close to downtown, social, new facilities. Bar (unnecessary in my opinion but cool). Sauna. Volunteering and activities.Cons:-expensive ($80+ per month) compared to other climbing gyms in the area. No discounts for students, teachers or veterans. No scholarships for low income teens who might want to learn now to climb. Other gyms in the area offer all of these.-bouldering only. No top ropes. No lead climbing. Other gyms in the area offer all of these by much lower price ($55+tax per month)-easy problems. Compared to other gyms I’ve been to, oso routes are ridiculously over ranked. A V4 in oso is like a V1 or V2 elsewhere-textured wall. This is aid. Hence why problems are much easier.-injured people. Not sure why but every time I’ve been in Oso, I’ve seen people get injured. There should be some orientation like in other gyms to avoid people getting hurt-store. Compared to good quality shoes sold in other gyms (la sportiva, scarpa, etc), oso sells weird brands I’ve never heard of. Wish they had better brands to offer.Edit. Response to owner:Instead of delegitimizing my review by saying Ive never been there and calling my opinion false and malicious, why dont you touch on the concerns I raised? Please correct me: Do you indeed have discounts for students, teachers, and veterans? Do you offer other type of climbing besides bouldering? Who ranks your system and have you compared it to other gyms? is the wall not textured? What brands do you offer in your store? What orientation do you offer? I am a student at a local university so I certainly have gone to Oso and know plenty of people at Oso. Many of them have been injured. One friend even had a surgery. None of my friends have a student discount. Please correct me if I am wrong and do not call genuine concerns malicious.
I LOVE OSO climbing gyms, very friendly staff and love the positive atmosphere. I love the classes held by Antoine ( always so positive, uplifting and fun) Yoga is great too with Carrie H. 10/10 would recommend.
Love this place! The location is great because I live in the Design District! Every single staff member is so nice and offer feedback to beginners like myself. My boyfriend and I signed up for a year on our first day because we immediately loved the vibe and what they offer (fitness center, yoga, stretching area, good hours, nice merch) even if we have never climbed before :)
I’ve been climbing for a couple years and this is the nicest gym in Texas hands-down. Great for beginners and great for advanced climbers. Plus the sauna & the full weight room with turf is a blessing. The Staff is very friendly and will help you with anything you need.
Perfect for a date night, fun with friends or for people that want an awesomeGym with friendly patrons.
Best gym in town. Best staff, best setters, best problems.
I loved this place! Very fun, and the employees are super nice and helpful if needed.
Wonderful facility! Walls (great range for climbers), sauna, gym, the staff all it! Climb here.
Great bouldering gym, lots of parking friendly staff with amazing equipment
Great bouldering experience. Friendly and personable coaches. I love it here.
I have been training with Taylor for over a year and a half now and am so grateful for the strength, knowledge and growth I’ve had during that time. Taylor is incredibly committed to and passionate about his work. He cares about the overall picture of your health and well-being - mental and physical. Taylor is knowledge about personal training and form, supplements, pre- and post-workout care, self-care, sleep, you name it. I admit I ask him so many question and he rarely does not have the answer - and if not, he will find it for you. Taylor will help you grow in whatever ways you are wanting to. He gets the work done while having FUN!! Oso Climbing gym is a well-rounded gym with climbing, gym space, personal training, classes as well as saunas. It is clean and the community is unlike any other! I high recommend Taylor Roberts and Oso Climbing Gym.
Staff is really friendly! I moved from out of state and this gym really helped getting to know people. Take some classes and then climb afterwards!
LOVE THIS GYM! Everyone is so accommodating and friendly. Even the members are very friendly and non judgmental. People are more then happy to help, be it in the fitness area or working a project climb. Ample room to sit down and charge your phone or laptop while you rest for your next climb or just get some quick work in. Definitely worth every cent. Cant recommend enough.
Great gym! A bit pricey for a singular gym and they dont have too much for training walls outside if a kilter board and a great campus area. They do however have some fantastic setting that pushes for interesting and creative moves!
Loved the gym! The walls are a kind of rough texture which I wasnt expecting. It give you more grip to work with but you can also scrape ur knees on them. The people who work there are nice and helpful. Just wish their memberships were more affordable
Loved the clean and sleek gym! Employees talk to you and give you help on routes if you need !
We came in from out of town, it was a great experience. The staff was incredibly friendly. We tried a yoga class and climbed after. Marcus had a unique style and it was definitely a workout. I would highly recommend Oso and I look forward to returning.
This gym has everything! I’ve been for climbing and for workouts - each time was a great experience. Very clean facility, comfortable atmosphere and friendly staff. I’ve been working out with my trainer, Taylor Roberts, for about 9 months and was so excited when he started training at Oso. If you’re looking for a trainer that pushes you, makes you stronger, and is well educated in health and fitness, Taylor is perfect for you! In only a few sessions I noticed a difference in the way my body felt and looked. I was mainly doing yoga and cycling classes before, but didn’t see real progress until I added these workouts with Taylor to my routine. Can’t say enough positive things about Taylor and Oso!
Great time climbing here; not first bouldering gym Ive been to. Very clean. Super friendly and helpful staff. Awesome amenities, though the steam room and shower are closed for covid-19 safety. Routes are well spaced, helping keep safe distance between climbers. Really fun experience.
Started climbing for the first time just 2 months ago, and all the staff and many of the regular climbers were incredibly helpful and encouraging. Now I go multiple times a week and there are always plenty of fun and challenging routes, as well as great classes and community events.Highly recommend Oso to any climber or anyone who wants to give it a try!
Staff is so helpful. They were so kind and understanding towards me as a first timer. Super clean, they follow COVID guidelines, everyone wears a mask inside unless youre upstairs using the cardio equipment. 10/10 would recommend!
Love the climbing, free weights, and sauna and showers. Havent tried the classes yet, but this place has it all and a good community as well. I only wish they would let us run the sauna above 180F.
Great bouldering gym! Weights area has everything you need for a good workout, its clean and everyone does a great job of wearing masks and being respectful. Pro shop has all the necessities to get started and the gear is high quality. The routes are fun and challenging and plenty of walls to get different slopes and angles. I love this place.
Staff is friendly and personable, inside is big with lots of variety for climbing, clean locker rooms and an affordable day pass
Awesome facilities with many options for climbing. Well equiped weight room and separate area with stationary bikes, steppers, etc. Overall very well organized and spacious.
Large building with so much room for everything. Climbing, weights, yoga, cardio. Staff is very good, helpful, friendly.
FANTASTIC GYM. So many bouldering options. I love it! The community here is what really makes it special. Everyone Ive met here is so friendly, kind and welcoming. They all cheer you on when youre climbing no matter what level youre at.
Really cool gym. Friendly staff. Good classes.
Ive been to a few bouldering gyms. They all were friendly and professional, but Oso takes things to another level. Their routes were all really interesting and presented some unique challenges Im not used to facing at an indoor gym. Beautiful building and gym, who knew indoor climbing could look this good?
This place is great, but I’m really tired of hearing basic house music. By this I mean songs that sound like they belong in a Coachella highlight reel. Sometimes I just wanna climb on the dark side of the force and rage to some Biggie,Kendrick,Jcole,Viking music, something that makes me feel again. I wish they just played the music in the fitness area throughout the whole gym.Other than that this place is great.I also understand headphone exist and that would solve my issues. Also shout out to the front desk they are the true hero’s.Update the music has changed to something other than edm! I am happy now. Still keeping it at 4 stars because I don’t believe in perfection.
Awesome spot! Clean facility, great vibe, challenging problems. I visited with a group of friends and assistant manager Rhea (sp?) gave us a tour and the space is amazing. Most of my group was novice to bouldering and a few friendly members gave us pointers. Definitely plan to go back!
Super cool place, extremely nice and clean with tall ceilings and new everything. Lots of seating for having a snack/lunch or doing some work. The bathrooms were crazy nice, no gross gym showers many climbing gyms have. The setting was pretty solid, a good mix of traditional and more modern comp style setting. I wish there were a few more problems for a gym that size they really let the routes breath and didnt stack many on a wall. They also do a big grade range for their problems which isnt a huge deal but it makes it a bit harder to get a good dialed workout in.My only real problem with the gym is how warm it was, there are a lot of big windows and no fans so it got pretty sweaty even though it was only like 70 out. I wouldnt want to climb there in the middle of the summer.
I’ve been to many many many gyms in different countries and cities and yet this one was by far the BEST BOULDERING GYM EVER! Like holy f*ck. Staffs are all friendly and professional, special shout out to Blake who made my first visit absolutely amazing. Fun tour, and thanks to you I got my new fav set of climbing shoes! :D The routes here are so fun, it’s set by J.H who used to set for competitions, the routes definitely makes you think a lot and it was more challenging and super fun to solve than other gyms, and they have a sauna, yoga room, super clean and spacious changing rooms, giant fitness room, chilling area (did i mention a piano Lol) and everything was top notch no kidding. I would highly recommend getting a membership here, everything’s new and shining clean, amazing covid protocols, amazing staff members (especially Blake -! ) this one’s the best gym in Dallas! (Sorry not sorry summits and other gyms). So yeah, go climb here! :D
Theres no other gym in Dallas like this, its truly a unique experience to climb, workout or just hang out with friends. Their fitness area is top notch! They have some proper weight lifting gear like power racks, free weights and high quality accessory machines. Staff is super down to earth as well, youll love it here.
This is the gym that got me into climbing. Im only 4 months in, but the staff are always amazingly friendly and the facility itself is incredible, as well as extremely clean. I cant recommend this place enough. They have a fitness center, yoga classes, and climbing classes now too.
Dope set up for a rock climbing gym, the resistance training area is legit, and Id say the same about the cardio area. All bouldering which is my favorite climb workout anyway, and they sanitize literally EVERYTHING. Very nice execution of a gym
The atmosphere here is friendly, and in general people are considerate and have good etiquette. Its located right between West Dallas and Uptown in the Design District so its mostly populated by young professionals. The cardio ledge is equipped with treadmills, stair climbers, ellipticals and a rowing machine. During the day it has a pretty good view of the skyline. The rock climbing walls have tons of bouldering routes with varying heights qnd levels of difficulty. They change pretty often. Some top rope walls would be nice too but the building isnt quite tall enough for anything very long. The yoga classes are in a separated, gently heated studio. No noise from other parts of the gym reaches inside during a class which is very nice. The teachers are awesome, especially Carrie who will definitely challenge you.The actual gym area is pretty well equipped, with at least one of most of the basic setups (flat bench press, incline bench, a complete cable tower, leg extension, leg curl) and a couple of items of climbing specific training equipment. There are 2 squat cages and tons of extra bars. The garage door windows are usually open for air flow and there are tires outside for flipping.Locker rooms are separate, and are equipped with lockers, showers, and a sauna. Extra items like towels, and hair ties are available. As far as COVID-19 safety, this place is fairly lax. Hand sanitizer is readily available. Members are supposed to keep their masks on, except for cardio, yoga, or in the sauna, but you also often see neck gaiters as masks or under the nose.
Awesome place. They are steady making improvements to an already great facility. Very clean and well maintained. The staff are all very knowledgeable and helpful. Cant wait to come back!
I dont write reviews, but this place deserves it. Simply put, the best climbing gym in Dallas.1. The routesetting is top notch. From the easiest routes up to the hardest I can climb, the movement is thoughtful and diverse. They take care and pride in keeping their holds and walls clean which makes an enormous difference.2. Amenities. Its more than just the great workout equipment and the sauna, its the little things that all gyms SHOULD do but many dont, like good hand soap, hot water, clean bathrooms etc.3. Vibe. The vibe is great. Art on the wall, lots of natural light, employees that care about the gym, and lots of OG Dallas climbers that care about the local community and climbing scene! For new climbers I cant imagine a better place to get started. For long time climbers, I feel that Oso strikes the balance of being a climbing gym for climbers first and foremost, and doesnt feel like other gyms that commodify climbing.
I came here all the way from Illinois as an avid climber and this place is amazing! The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, the building and locker rooms are beautiful and clean, and the routes are absolute quality and are phenomenally thought out and interesting. Do yourself a favor and go, new climber or veteran, this is the place for you. 10/10
This is the only climbing gym I have been to that I have encountered rude people. Other climbers jumping in front of me to get on the wall, and judgemental remarks. The building is great but the community is not.
Super fun gym to climb at. Great routes set for all skill levels. The staff is amazing and knowledgeable aswell. Steve is the bomb👍. Definitely will tell all my climbing friends.
First visit. Super friendly staff, tons of boulders, definitely a busy gym but doesnt feel crowded due to the size of the gym. Great bathrooms, and a full weight room. I ended up signing up for a membership and they credited my day pass to the monthly cost
This is a great gym, had fun here the routes were very good and the vibe here is mainly just relaxing if you’re in Dallas you should definitely check this gym out.
Loved it. Great that it includes gym, sauna, yoga, food. Climbs are for all levels and get changed every week. Bought a bag of chalk for $4.
Its clean, staff are friendly, and the atmosphere is very welcoming.
It was a really nice gym. Very clean! I took a yoga class there and it was great!
Good gym. Good deal 👍👍. 85 dollars a month for a full gym, bouldering, and yoga
Beautiful new gym! Lots of routes with plenty of space to rest and recover. All the amenities you could want or need.
High quality bouldering!
Super nice facility with lots of space and great staff members (Alec and Matt especially). I do have a couple major problems with the way the gym is run though. While the setting is pretty good with a wide range of problems in both beta and difficulty, the training is lacking severely. The gym section is massive but there is no climbing specific training equipment such as hangboards, crimp blocks or pinches. I’m also not a fan of the way they operate the kilterboard because unlike most gyms they do not allow people to change the angle of it but rather have it on a rotating schedule throughout the week. Many problems arise from this, firstly many people are only able to climb certain days meaning they are only able to climb on the wall at whatever angle it’s set to on those day (set pattern same every week). Secondly, they only set it to a few different angles which don’t include 60* and 40* where most of the routes (especially the hard ones) are set.
Clean and modern, love the space. Sets were pretty rad, cant wait until the yoga and fitness areas are open
Really friendly staff and excellent facilities
Of course its a 5 star gym. This is my dream bouldering gym, they have everything I asked for.
This place roxors and makes me totes thrilled. For a casual climber llike me their loaner shoe policy is amazing. There are paintings and liquid chalk for sale. What a deal.
The best climbing gym in DFW. Huge space and everything bouldering you could ever want!
If this isn’t the best climbing gym AND workout facility in the state, I don’t know what is. Incredible facility, great people, best gym in Texas if not the south if not the nation.
This place was high end best gym I’ve ever been to if you looking at this review come join. WORTH EVER PENNY
Fabulous gym and staff! Cannot sing enough praise of the facilities upkeep and clientele
This place is amazing. WHAT DO CLIMBERS WANT?? Good route setting*** I’ve never made a review in my life but this state of the art gym and great staff deserve it. Every type of wall angle from a slab section of the gym to a over hang sections. Can’t wait till everything opens up in a couple weeks. OSO is really looking to protect their climbers from corona as well and they take it extra seriously, makes you feel more comfortable and they considered making a state of the art climbing gym in the DFW. Welcome to Texas OSO and thanks for my new push in climbing. These people are very educated in climbing and they know what we like I suggest you try oso if you really want to push your climbing game with the help of their staff. plus they have a KILTER BOARD.
Absolutely beautiful walls, lots of variety, great amenities and friendly staff.
Nice routes, friendly staff, cool facility
Really cool spot with friendly staff.
The routes were awesome!
Definitely will be back.
Friendly! Clean! Fun!
Dopest bouldering gym in Dallas🥰
Dope gym
Bear is a fun place to climb. I have friends who invite me all the time and in general I have a good time. The gym has everything. From a weight room to a sauna. In terms of climbing I would say I have fun but I always end up with a bad wound on my skin as the walls are lined with a sandpaper type of texture. This does not allow you to use your palms or heels without hurting yourself. Outside of that, I would recommend the gym.
The coaches are very professional and friendly
