Truly exceptional experience at Mel’s. I didn’t think barbers like this existed anymore! Haircuts for me and my son were fast, super inexpensive, and looked great! Awesome people and environment. Best haircut experience I’ve had in 30 years!

Scott is good people. He always treats me and my children like family. His fades are top notch and he does a mean Mens haircut. His prices are very reasonable too. We moved here from Long Island (I was worried Id have trouble replacing my old barber) and my Fiancé called to inquire and he welcomed us all. Havent gone anywhere else since moving here. The rest of the staff are pleasant as well.

Awesome little barber shop. Scott does a great job and he will get you in and out super fast. Just to put a cherry on top you get a hot lather straight razor shave to clean up your neck.

Scott was great! My first visit here right before I head out on a two week vacation. I saw all the positive reviews and I was willing to risk it. I told him a very vague description of what I wanted and it came out better than I ever could have imagined! Got me in and out of there quickly on a busy afternoon. Good conversation. Affordable and sharp. Best cut Ive had in many years. Found myself a new barber for the foreseeable future.

You wont get the worlds finest haircuts here, but youll get good ones and theyll be consistent. Ive gone to Mels Place on and off for 15 years or so (I dont live close by but I make occasional trips) and its never changed, which is a great thing. Theyre good enough for me to drive a little further to get a better haircut.

Super friendly place. Highly recommend. I visited Mel after I had a nightmare of an experience at a nearby barber shop. Mel made me feel incredibly welcomed, spoke to me about what happened, AND gave me a stellar haircut. The reason I didn’t give five stars was because there was a little more hair than I would have preferred to see lying around and the style of the place was a little more dated than what my personal preference might be. BUT, with that being said, if you are looking for an incredible staff that provide great haircuts and don’t care about the fluff, this is the place for you. Guarantee you’ll be happy with the experience and will want to tell your friends. I know I was and already have.

Great neighborhood barber. Scotts one of the most down to earth people. Its cash only and first come first serve. Every time Ive been there, theres usually 2/3 people waiting. Once decided to be there before they even opened although I was the first one there soon after 2 more gentlemen pulled in. They were nice and told him I was there first but I let them go before me because the wait not that long

I was looking for good barber place in Hudson Stow area since forever and I guess I finally found one Mels Place. I got awesome haircut. I got my hair done by Deb and she is really good and knows exactly what she is doing. I would highly recommend her.

Mels is a great place I go there all the time oh, and most of the time Susie cuts my hair she does a wonderful job shes a Class Act.

I left thinking I got a good hair cut. It wasnt until I got home that my fiance informed me of a thumb print sized bald spot on the back of my head. Will not return. Scott was friendly but left me with a bad hair cut.

Im very clear with my instructions when it comes to a haircut. I like a square cut, short on the sides and in the back. tapered in the neck and a point cut at the top. What I got was a generic clipper cut with a careless cut on top, way too short. Instead of a point cut I got an ugly cut with thinning shears (They should be banned).The place was so incredibly filthy with hairs and soap scum in the sinks and hair on the floor everywhere. With its history it could be somewhat of a landmark, instead it is just a rundown, gross, low quality barber shop.

I walked into this barbershop a year ago and told Scott I am very particular about my hair. If someone messes up my hair they never get my business again... Scott has been cutting my hair for over a year now and its been perfect every time.

Looked for a good barber for a while. Went to Mels and theyre awesome. Best in town by far.
