I highly recommend American Kitchen Concepts, Inc. for your next home renovation project (small or big). We did our due diligence and did our research and inquired about our kitchen project with several different companies. Dan Millard, the owner, is hands down the best all around. He is attentive to your requests from day 1. He has been doing this for a very long time and it is apparent when you first meet him and throughout the project. He is very knowledgeable, honest, professional, and customer satisfaction is his number one goal. His staff is punctual, talented, professional, and very efficient. We were given priority when it came for our project to begin and were given a timeline of what to expect from the beginning to the end. Dan is big on communication and relays any delays, changes, or even provides relevant recommendations when needed. We even added a few things in the middle of our project and Dan was very responsive and made sure it got done. He ensures that the customer is completely satisfied with the job. We had some minor things that needed to address after the job was completed and Dan made sure it was done right away to our satisfaction. We are extremely happy with our renovation. If you are looking for a company that is honest, hard-working, reliable, efficient, professional, and efficient, then this is the company for you. In my opinion, they are exceptional!
We love our new kitchen! American Kitchen Concepts was highly recommended by family for their good service. Dan took a lot of the anxiety and confusion out of the process. We had driven ourselves crazy touring individual retailers for flooring, cabinetry, countertops and so forth. So many options, so many decisions and so much coordination required!Dan’s showroom has a nice selection of all those products. After a couple of visits and with his advice and help, we were able to put together materials and a design that we loved at a competitive price we could afford (using discounts). He suggested improvements we now love (e.g., the undercabinet lighting and touch-on faucet). Some of our want-to-haves proved impractical. The spice rack and “magic corner” shelves could not fit in the spaces we allotted for them. Dan swapped them out for other good options and refunded the extra cost. They were also able to repair problems discovered during demo, for a fee. The lead team member, Cameron, has a wealth of skills and knowledge. He made sure everything was done properly and to our satisfaction.Dan is the owner, designer, liaison to suppliers and project manager. He is the single point of contact and responsibility, making things much less stressful. Construction was essentially done in 4 weeks (record time according to friends). Months later they will still swing by if we need advice or adjustments. Again, we love our new kitchen!
We decided to completely redo our kitchen. We hired AKC to demo the whole kitchen, which included knocking down the wall (non load bearing) separating the kitchen from the living room. They then reworked the wiring, which had some issues, installed brand new cabinets and countertop, and added a island/breakfast bar.The majority of the project took about three weeks, which I felt was really quick for a kitchen remodel. After the bulk of the project was done, they had to return a few weeks later to install some items that took longer to ship or were replacement items, but it wasnt an issue since the kitchen was functional at that point. While it was a messy project, I felt that AKC tried to keep things as clean as they could, which was important for us since we have a small child whos very curious about anything laying around on the floor. The project manager, Dan, was very responsive and would text me photo updates during the day while I was at work when requested. More importantly, Dan was very helpful in the planning stages. When we were first looking to redo our kitchen, we were overwhelmed with all of our choices for countertops, cabinets, colors, knobs, tiles, layout, etc. Dan was very knowledgeable and sat down with us to go over what would work best for us. He gave us suggestions and advice when we needed it. We changed our minds several times throughout the process, and Dan didnt have a problem with that. In the end, we love the kitchen we have now. We also had the floor completely replaced by another contractor, and Dan was very accommodating to make sure everything progressed smoothly.
My family and I used American Kitchen Concepts and could not have been happier with their services! We recommend Dan and his team without hesitation. Our project initially started as an involved kitchen model (demo down to the studs and moving two doors) in a c. 1900 house, however, it ultimately involved far more than the kitchen. Over the course of our remodel we developed a strong trust in the crew and their assessments- at multiple points there were things (not related to their work) that they could have covered up, been paid and moved on to their next paying job leaving us with a nasty surprise years down the line (eg failing joists). Instead, Dan and his crew slowed down their project to take the time to walk my wife and me through the potential implications of findings, the solutions (which may or may not have involved them) and then allowed us to properly address each issue before continuing the kitchen project.Even beyond the trust, which is so important in an involved project, American Kitchen Concepts craftsmanship and attention to details was exemplary leaving us with a beautiful, transformed first floor of our house!
We were surprised by the detail of work performed, professional results, and beauty of the totally renovated kitchen, which included removal of a wall, and replacement of all flooring/cabinets/lighting/back splash, in addition to recessed lighting in other areas of our home. Best of all, Dan and his team were genuinely interested in providing us assistance in being certain that materials we ordered from manufacturers were both free of defect and installed in accordance with their high standards of professionalism. Would recommend them highly and will enlist them when we need additional work to be done.
Kitchen and Half Bathroom RemodelWe selected American Kitchen Concepts after checking out several other companies. Dan, owner of the company, is also the designer. At other companies we felt that salesman / designer was just going through the motions and cranked out a cookie cutter, unimaginative design. Dan spends time to learn what you want and developed a design that was far superior and more aesthetically pleasing to those from other companies. After we signed the contract, we had second thoughts about our backsplash tile choice and decided not to extend the new flooring into our family room. Dan was very reasonable with his change order. Once the work started, their tradesmen were on site every weekday from demo to a new, functional kitchen. Dan and his installation team do a very good job of keeping the project moving. It would have finished on time, but the cabinet manufacturer shipped one cabinet 3” narrower than Dan ordered. Dan worked with the manufacturer to have the replacement cabinet expedited and it is due to arrive about a week after the other work was completed. The tradesmen are highly skilled and courteous. It was a comforting to have tradesmen in your house that you could trust. The final product is exactly as we had envisioned!
Great experience. Beautiful result. - We hired American Kitchen concepts to fully gut and renovate our kitchen and family room. They installed recessed lighting and new wood flooring to both rooms, and then in the kitchen installed new cabinets, countertops, appliances, and a new window. We also had an uneven floor, the result of settling of our 30 year old home. The American Kitchen Concepts team was able to fix the floor to our satisfaction at a reasonable price and solid structural resolution. Dan listened to our needs and wants for design and was able to plan a functional space that was realistic for our home. We found American Kitchen Concepts to be very price competitive compared to the other contractors we interviewed. Dan was very communicative throughout the whole process and easy to get a hold of. He was able to quickly resolve any minor issues we had during the renovation. The teams that worked on our home were very kind and knowledgeable. The whole process took about a week longer than initially quoted, but nothing that was unreasonable considering the work that was completed. We are delighted with our new kitchen and family room and would recommend American Kitchen concepts to anyone in the market for a renovation!
This is an update to my previous review. I had felt something was unfinished and as soon as I posted my review, Dan contacted me and my husband, and was at our house within days to resolve the issue. I am very happy with the solution. It looks great!Dan and his crew are very professional and courteous. They gutted a dirty old kitchen and turned it into a bright refreshing space for our family. Overall, Im happy with the way our kitchen turned out. It looks great and is very functional.
It’s my absolute pleasure to recommend Dan Millard at the American Kitchen Company. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the time working with Dan and came to know him as a truly valuable asset to our kitchen renovation project. He is honest, dependable, and incredibly hard-working. Beyond that, he is an impressive communicator who is always ready to get the job done. His knowledge of contracting and expertise in subcontracting was a huge advantage to our entire kitchen renovation. He put his time and effort 110% into our dream kitchen project, even when presented with a few challenges. Not only did he finish our project on time, but he added an extra surprise for us at the end. Dan always provides service with a smile, and we are forever grateful!Along with his undeniable talent, Dan has always been an absolute joy to work with. He is a true team player, and always manages to foster positive discussions and bring the best out of people. I can honestly say that he was not only a great business partner, but a true friend in the entire process from start to finish of our home project. On top of everything, he was even in the middle of a personal surgery, but still was able to have our kitchen done just in time for the holiday. This separates the other competition and truly indicates his passion for his craftsmanship and dedication to his clients!Without a doubt, I confidently recommend Dan to anyone who is looking for remodeling projects, specifically in his kitchen designs. As a dedicated and knowledgeable project coordinator and an all-around great person, I know that he will exceed all your expectations. Our house is now a home.
After getting several quotes, we decided to work Dan and American Kitchen Concepts. We appreciated his level of knowledge and how the quote was based on the specific materials we ended up using and not a generic guess. The quote was pretty true to what we finally paid too, after we had to deal with some mold and other unforeseen issues. His crew was very nice and cleaned up after themselves every day. We really appreciated that because we have two small children. They worked pretty quickly and things were timed well between demo, installation, paint, and flooring so that there weren’t too many days where nothing was being done. Once the majority was done, Dan came back a couple of times to inspect everything, fix some minor things, and ensure that we were happy with everything. The end results were beautiful. We have been very happy with our new kitchen that is both more attractive and more functional. We would recommend Dan and American Kitchen Concepts to people looking for a kitchen upgrade.
Dan had great ideas for improving our kitchen. We have a small kitchen, but then it is extended with a breezeway that was enclosed a long time ago. It always seemed so chopped up, but Dan found a way to connect the two rooms better. He directed us in a way so that now we have a beautiful kitchen. Dan has many great ideas. He was always extremely responsive when we had questions. The crew was courteous and detail oriented. We love the materials and colors of our new kitchen, and it seems much bigger. We highly recommend American Kitchen Concepts for kitchen renovation.
We were impressed right away with Dan Millard and American Kitchen Concepts responsiveness and professionalism. It was an easy decision to hire him to remodel our kitchen and baths and we were not disappointed. Dan understood what we wanted and the scope of our project and he didnt try to oversell or steer us toward things that we didnt need. He helped us with color schemes, design ideas, and selection of materials. Materials and appliances arrived right on time and allowed for Dans crew to work seamlessly and without interruptions. Dans crew, managed by Cameron, were always punctual, courteous, professional, and extremely focused on their work. The work was done at a professional level and with minimal delays. We couldnt have been happier with the results. We had an excellent experience with Dan and his people from start to finish and are looking forward to working with them again on our next home.
This was my Family’s third time using American Kitchen Concepts. It was spread out over ten years. A kitchen for my daughter, a bathroom for my wife and I, and the last job was the biggest of all. Most of our new house was touched by Dan’s skill in design and implementation. We had Dan redesign the kitchen area and he captured more cabinet space plus gave us better lighting, improved the stove exhaust system.Next Dan remodeled two bathrooms, which included removing a door and adding a new entry for one bath. Both baths received super exhaust venting that is whisper quiet. His painting team was beyond good the Kitchen and Bathrooms looked so good we had them patch and paint the whole house including the garage.Dan’s team provided such attention to detail that the final punch list was very small and easy to rectify.American Kitchen Concepts is a great company to work with, great designing and dream completers. There 24 years of experience shows. My wife and I would recommend them to anyone that wants a Kitchen or Bath or House redone.
AKC is unlike many other providers in that your first meeting is spent selecting the materials in his showroom, so you better be ready to make decisions. We were able to adjust some things along the way, but making choices up front gives you a proposal that is the actual price, not just a rough estimate. Dan only uses quality materials, and the workmanship matches. From our very first meeting with Dan until a few days ago, when he and Cameron (the job foreman) returned to take care of a few final touches, dealing with American Kitchen Concepts has been a smooth and pleasant experience. Most important, we met our original goal: our kitchen is beautiful and functional. Communication was frequent, via Google calendar appointments, texts, emails, and phone calls. We bought our appliances through his recommended vendor, who gave us a discount and coordinated delivery.People will tell you that any large renovation project is a headache. While we were a bit inconvenienced for several weeks, in the big scheme this project was really painless. Most of this was due to the fact that Dan was very easy to deal with and is 100% focused on making sure that we were 100% happy with the final project (even after we had made our final payment).Would we hire them again? Absolutely.
Overall we had a great experience with American Kitchen Concepts. We purchased an eighteen year old home that needed a little updating, particularly in the kitchen. We also wanted to continue the existing oak wood floors from the other rooms into the kitchen and family room (open kitchen concept). We decided the extensive flooring project should be done before moving in, so as soon as our offer was accepted and the home inspection was scheduled I contacted several companies that specialized in kitchen renovations to come out and give us a quote during the home inspection. Many of the contractors weren’t willing to come out without us actually owning the home yet, but Dan Millard with American Kitchen Concepts was willing to meet with us. Dan was prompt and very accommodating during the home inspection. He was also easy going about the few other competitors that came out to give us similar quotes at the same time. What I enjoyed most about Dan in comparison to the other contractors was that he seemed trustworthy and willing to work with our budget to help us get what we wanted but could also afford. After we signed the contract with Dan he was great about assisting us with selecting our kitchen design. He wasn’t pushy or overbearing. He was helpful and gave suggestions when needed. The project did cost more than we originally expected, but this was mostly due to the refinishing of the existing wood floors in the entire main level of the house so that the new wood floors in the family room and kitchen would match. And as far as timeline, the project stayed mostly on schedule. We had a one week delay at the start, but the project was completed before our official move in date. I’ve heard that delays with renovation projects are common, and that one week was minor compared to other experiences.I do think that our renovation was probably simpler than most. We didn’t reconfigure anything. Basically American Kitchen Concepts took out the outdated aspects of the kitchen and replaced them with a newer, updated look. Our renovation didn’t require moving any walls, or switching the plumbing around, or anything as complicated as that. We did have some changes to the electrical, but nothing too major. When I look at our new kitchen design I am really happy with the final product. Dan took the ideas that I suggested and made it a reality for us. We are more than satisfied with our kitchen remodel, and would recommend American Kitchen Concepts to others.
One stop shopping! I wanted a quality kitchen at a good price. Remodeling choices are overwhelming. During my search, I quickly discovered the choices and options are overwhelming. I wanted expert to help me with the process. I found the perfect fit with American Kitchen Concepts, Inc. They offer quality products with an informed individual (Dan Millard) to help me make smart choices. They have great ideas about design and examples to show you, so its easy to make choices without driving all over town to look at tile one place and cabinets somewhere else. Dan helped me spend the money on the important things and find less expensive options when it made sense. He managed the project, keeping me in the loop by using Google calendar and texts and phone calls for a schedule. We lived and worked on location through the rehab project. The contractors were personable, left the site as clean as possible and great to work with. Everyone involved made the experience from start to finish as painless as possible. They got the project done quickly without sacrificing quality. It’s been two years and I couldn’t be happier with my kitchen and my experience with American Kitchen Concepts, Inc. I’m glad I shopped locally, not using a big box store. The personal attention made a difference in the quality, warranty, and attention to detail.
American Kitchen Concepts was great to work with.Dan worked with my wife to put together a lot of good ideas for our kitchen and then Cameron was very professional and thorough as he put everything together. The final kitchen is beautiful and everyone who sees it likes it a lot.
This kitchen project was the first that my spouse and I had ever thought about having done in our home. We were anxious because of all of the “horror stories” that we had heard about these types of projects. In the end, though, we decided to move forward. We did some research and got a few estimates. Based on numerous factors, we decided to go with American Kitchen Concepts. We contacted the company easily and their response was quick. While the estimate provided was not the lowest in terms of dollars, we were impressed with the professionalism displayed in the communication and presentation. Sometimes you have to go with high quality and spend a little more to get it. Our desires and expectations were listened to and we never got the sense that Dan, the company’s president, was trying to oversell or over-promise. The showroom is organized and clean and full of choices. Throughout the planning process, we felt comfortable and free to take our time to make our decisions. We were given a time frame and we felt comfortable when we signed the paperwork to get the project started. The project started on time and exactly when Dan said it would. The crew were polite, professional, and always made sure to respect our home. They answered every question we had. During the project, they found a couple of things that were beyond the scope of the original plan (wires hidden in a wall and the need for a small stabilizing wall for a new counter-top). They came up with solutions that made sense and we never felt like they were trying to add things on to the project unnecessarily. In the end, what we got charged for the extra work was very reasonable. In fact, the crew did a few things that we didn’t really expect them to! Those little details make a company like American Kitchen Concepts stand out.The project ended within the time frame promised and we are very, very happy with the results. Our kitchen is now better in function and style and we are so pleased. I know that we will be enjoying it for many years!!I highly recommend American Kitchen Concepts and I know that I will be contacting them first when we decide to move forward with another project. We are definitely not anxious anymore!
Dan Millard at American Kitchen Concepts was consistently professional and the work of his team was top-notch. I was impressed with Dans reliability and his quick response to all of my communications (either by phone, text, or email). We were very pleased with how the work was done and thrilled with the finished product!
Dan ( the owner of AKC) was very involved with the project. He has excellent ideas about designs and assisted us throughout the process, cutting costs to keep us close to our budget. The end result is a beautiful kitchen. I wish I could share the picture.....
We are extremely happy with how our new kitchen turned out. We worked with multiple contractors on quotes at the beginning of the process, and although Dan’s quote was higher than the rest, he was the only one we trusted to do the job right. Multiple other contractors gave us drawings that showed they were going to cover the electrical panel with a cabinet or pantry. Dan was the only one that clearly stated that was not allowed. He worked with us on setting up a design that met our needs and worked well in the space we had.To save ourselves some money, we took the demolition of the space upon ourselves (including taking down a wall, and removing all old appliances, counters, cabinets, and flooring). When we finished demolition of the old kitchen, we found a mold problem in our wall. We had Dan and his crew check out the wall, and got quotes from roofers as it appeared the leak was coming from the roof. Again, multiple contractors said we should be able to shore up the studs and only replace a few pieces, while Dan and his crew were confident it needed to be completely repaired. We’re glad we went with Dan and his recommendation, because we discovered that the leak was coming from a window in the wall, and had caused so much damage that everything in that area had to be replaced. Finally, everything was smooth sailing for finishing the kitchen once the repair was done. We had a gas line installed, water lines changed slightly, and the entire kitchen was redone (new floor, cabinets, countertops, and appliances). All of the work from Dan’s crew was done in a timely manner, and done well. We would absolutely call Dan again if (and more likely when) we want to do more renovations on our house.
Three years ago in November 2013, Dan Millard and his company entered our lives and ultimately created a kitchen and sun room combination so amazing that we are still receiving compliments on its beauty and usefulness. From demolishing the former kitchen, moving a window, removing a sliding glass door, and adding heating ducts under the floor of the sun room, the project was completed in a little over a month. They created a laundry closet in one corner of the sun room and moved our washer and dryer up from the basement. We appreciated that the workers were in our home every weekday for at least 8 hours, and our questions were answered immediately. They even helped us set up a temporary kitchen in the adjoining dining room, so I could cook with a microwave and an electric skillet. If you want exactly what you can imagine, talk to Dan @ American Kitchen Concepts.
I really enjoyed working with Dan. He was truly down to earth and realistic. I love the design, personalization, flexibility and work that was done. My only point of contention was the appliance install. It didnt go as I expected. However; the company stuck by my side until I was satisfied.
The entire process went smoothly from start to finish, and the results are stunning. I cant recommend Dan and his team highly enough! My husband and I started discussing kitchen remodeling with several contractors in December 2017, and Dan was by far the most attentive. He listened to what we wanted, asked questions about problems we wanted solved, and developed a design based on our discussions. He helped us choose cabinets, counters, sinks, faucets, and undercabinet lighting, and referred us to a flooring supplier to pick the exact tile we wanted in both the kitchen and downstairs bath. He developed a detailed cost estimate including all steps and materials for the project. The estimate was a bit higher than we were prepared for, and he helped us make changes so we could stay in budget and still meet our goals. We signed a contract in January, with a planned start date in mid-February. Dan gave us advance notice on what to do before work started, and explained each stage of the project (demolition, wiring, flooring, cabinets, counters, plumbing, and finishing), with an overall estimated timeframe of 3-1/2 to 4 weeks for completion. Cameron and Rob started on February 22 and finished all major work March 20, right on time, with a couple of minor adjustments the next week. Throughout the process, Dan stopped by the house to review progress, answer questions, and make adjustments as needed. Cameron and Rob did beautiful work, were always courteous and professional, and left the work area spotless every day. We are extremely glad to have worked with them!
I am very pleased with my beautiful new kitchen, powder room, and family room that was recently made possible by American Kitchen Concepts, Inc. From start to finish, these gentlemen started early each day as they had promised and worked straight through until early afternoon. I had a friend who had shown me her new kitchen that this company had put in about a year ago and I heard nothing but praise for the workmanship, timeliness, and professional approach to every aspect of the project. I was sold! I found this to be true and would hire them again for any future updates that I plan.
A year ago, I had my kitchen remodeled with American Kitchen Concepts. I decided to write a review because I have bee so happy with it. I totally love my new kitchen, and I had a very positive experience working with Dan and his team. Dan was a good listener, he was flexible, and he really helped me to design exactly the kitchen I wanted. His team was friendly and showed up every day, and I felt comfortable having them in my home. When there were minor issues, Dan listened to me and resolved them. I dreaded the inconvenience of having my kitchen remodeled, but Dans team made the experience relatively painless. The best part is that I have a kitchen I absolutely love!!
Dan the owener is a sweet kind helpful man! He really cares about his clients. I love my new kitchen!! Its beautiful. His workers are honest and clean and efficient!! They helped with things I didnt know I even wanted!!! Today many months later Dean himself came and put in a different door to help me be able to use it free of charge because the one we put in at the date of project was hard to use for my hands. I have arthritis. He has been very careing and attentive with me. I really cant say enough about him and his company. Maryland has some super aweful companies out there of which we have experienced and this one is not one of them!! They are awesome and worth the money!!!! Thank you Dan with all my heart!!
If you are even considering hiring a contractor to remodel part or all of your kitchen, you owe it to yourself to contact American Kitchen Concepts and give them a chance to bid on the job. We did, mostly because of a personal recommendation (they remodeled a friends kitchen several years earlier), and doing so led to not only an outstanding customer service experience, but also a fabulous outcome that was more than wed hoped it would be. Here are some of the highlights of our experience and the benefits that awarding the contract to American Kitchen Concepts provided.DESIGN:Do you know exactly what you want for your kitchen? We thought that we did, but of course, were not professionals who have been doing this for many years. We shared our thoughts with the owner, Dan Millard, in terms of materials, styles, etc., but he offered suggestions on the design that would have never occurred to us otherwise. We accepted some and passed on others, but the end result was a design that improved our existing space in many ways.MATERIALS:American Kitchen Concepts offers a variety of materials (floors, cabinets, back splash, counter tops, lighting/plumbing fixtures, etc.), and they are happy to use a different material of your choosing, if you prefer. We found the design and color cabinets there that we wanted, but could not find comparably elsewhere. That said, they used the flooring we wanted from a different source, allowed us to select our own lighting fixtures, and used a counter top that we found elsewhere that was available through one of their many suppliers. In short, we got exactly what we wanted without feeling that we compromised.WORKMANSHIP:The crew that performed the work was everything you could ask of such a team. They were courteous, professional, respectful of our property, clean (work site cleaned every day), and most importantly, skilled craftsmen. When dealing with true professionals and skilled craftsmen, you get spoiled. They thought of details and anticipated needs before they occurred to us. Consequently, we quickly developed a high level of trust that, no matter what questions or concerns we had, they would be addressed to our satisfaction and beyond.CUSTOMER SERVICE:I can honestly say that Dan and his crew made the entire experience easy and drama-free. They ensured that our concerns were addressed and that we were completely satisfied with the work they performed in our home. I have no reservations whatsoever in recommending American Kitchen Concepts to any and all who are planning or even considering kitchen remodeling work. We are very grateful that we did.
Dan at American Kitchen Concepts worked with us to design our new kitchen, including custom built cabinets and beautiful quartz countertops. The workmanship was outstanding and we have been enjoying it for two years now. We liked the quality of the work so much, last year we had AKC completely remodel our master bath with a glass walk-in tile shower, custom vanity and top, and recessed lighting. We were again impressed with the quality of the work, and AKC crew were so friendly, conscientious, and even took care of our dogs when we were out! We love our new kitchen and master bath and would highly recommend American Kitchen Concepts to anyone.
Dan was great to work with when we were looking at estimates for a kitchen redesign for our house. He came to the site, took measurements, and created two beautiful and detailed designs for our kitchen that I couldnt have dreamed up myself. Then, he went through the endless options and helped us try and shape the estimate for what we wanted. He has a crew he uses to subcontract the work from various places. He has several different setups in his showroom and can show you how things will look together. Example: He had green subway tile and the white cabinet sample that I could physically match up to the different types of countertops and see how it all looked. In terms of cost (the thing most people really want to know) the price for a brand new kitchen was about $36,000, which included labor, fixtures, cabinets ($9000), flooring, hardware, countertops ($2800) running a gas line, recessed lighting, a backsplash, appliances, and painting. While we ultimately couldnt afford the kitchen cost (the 4 out of 5 is for pricing), I found working with him extremely easy and would recommend Dan to anyone who is looking for a full remodel.
Top notch kitchens!
