Paula and the entire staff at Cabinet Discounters made our kitchen remodel a breeze! They were informed, helpful and patient throughout the entire process and their expertise and suggestions definitely made our new kitchen as functional and beautiful as it is! Thank you for giving us a kitchen that we love to be in and brings together our friends and family!!!
I wanted some roll out drawers for my cabinets that were purchased from cabinet discounters years ago. I called the store to ask about ordering and they were able to help me right there on the spot. They called me when the order was ready for pickup at the store. Perfect painless process and very helpful people!
We have worked with Ann M. to pick out both a new bathroom vanity and also new quartz countertops for our kitchen. We greatly appreciated her visiting our home to advise us and make recommendations based on our decor. It was so helpful to have her expertise in helping us narrow down our choices which made the process much more enjoyable. We could not be more pleased with the end product - along with the quality, service and professionalism of everyone involved.
I am very pleased with my new quartz countertop, Anthracite sink, and faucet. The experience was great from beginning to end. Jim Walker was not pushy, I got exactly what I wanted, and at a better price than was quoted to me by Home Depot. The coordination of installation went smoothly, and our top was replaced very professionally. I would recommend them for your kitchen project.
Lots of selection. Very helpful people.
I had an identical experience as another reviewer. Two visits to Cabinet Discounters with exact measurements and was given the same brush-off sales treatment both times. Price estimates were very vague, ballparks on the overall cost of the remodel, which were higher than other quotes from competitors in the area.
In my opinion, like a book and its cover, do not judge the quality of a cabinet by its door. Be sure you get to see a complete representation of any cabinetry you consider purchasing and not just the door. Inspect the cabinet interior and shelf laminate closely for the level of quality. Examen all edges of the shelving to if they are “finished” and not just the edge that will be exposed when the door is open. Look at the underside of an upper cabinet see if cut edges of the wood are rough and unfinished. And keep in mind the word “discount” in the name of a company and exactly what that might mean.
We recently ordered our cabinets through Cabinet Discounters. The experience was great. Rebecca was awesome. She helped us design our kitchen and stay near our budget. There was no pressure and we took the time we needed to figure out what we wanted. The whole process from the beginning has been smooth and fool proof. Will update when our cabinets arrive mid March.
The experience at the start of the process was great. We ordered cabinets in December after going to big box stores and other locations in the area. We were not changing our layout- I had basic measurements. We picked out the type of cabinets and then the final measurements were taken. This was all done very timely and professionally. The cabinets came as stated and I awaited for my contractor to start the next day. This is where the issues started. The main top corner cabinet was completely busted in the back. There were 2 other doors that were damaged. I immediately called, emailed and sent pictures- my rep called me and asked if my contractor could glue or nail the crack and offered me $100 credit. I advised these are brand new and am not going to start off with a repair. I was then told that it would take 2 additional weeks for the cabinet to be replaced.I have been told that they cannot issue any credit since the cabinet is being replaced. I asked for a manager name I can call or email and it has not been provided. Our project is behind 2 weeks now- our contractor has to delay his next job and my rep does not think this is an inconvenience. You would think if they use the manufacturer as much as they do that there would be a process to expedite customer issues. Not very happy with the customer experience or resolutions.
This is the company my home builder used. when i moves in, kitchen cabinet and bathroom cabinets were broken. after long banter via email, they mailed a cabinet shelf and a sheet of thin ply to cover hole in the bathroom cabinet. i requested for the cabinet door to be fixed but it’s been a year and a half now. they have refused to respond to my request..i wouldn’t go here if i were you
We r working with Mr. Fine. He is great, explains everything, and we really like him.
We had an excellent experience with this company. Jim Walker was so patient with us and was so helpful in helping us pick out our cabinets and granite counter top. Thank you Jim for your excellent service!!!!!
Thank you Rebecca for trying to help me find a cabinet door 👍
The staff in the warehouse are a great bunch of guys
We waited several years before we could afford to remodel our old (1960s) kitchen and are delighted with the results. Working full-time we didnt have the time to coordinate many contractors and didnt know where to start. A friend recommended CD and we walked in one Saturday and Lorraine was kind enough to sit down with us that day and begin the process. We knew what we wanted and she helped us to realize all the details, improved on our vision and worked with our budget. We love our clean, modern new kitchen and were extremely happy with the process which went off without a hitch despite a snow day and was finished in just over 3 weeks. Thanks CD and BIG thanks to Lorraine.
We had a very good experience using Cabinet Discounters to renovate our kitchen. Great staff and quality materials. The designer had ideas that fit what we wanted from our kitchen and within the budget. The installation staff - carpenters, plumbers, electricians, tile people, etc. - were excellent, too. . Questions and problems (a few small things) were resolved promptly. The project came in on budget and on time. Well worth the money - we are so pleased with the new kitchen!Note: they do not paint. They told us upfront. Not a big deal for us as we did it ourselves, but if you have to hire someone else to paint consider this when budgeting for your kitchen.
We have done two bathrooms in 2016, with Cabinet Discounters, custom cabinets, floor tile, and shower tile. Jim Polzin, was a great help with designing the cabinets and helping us select all the tile. We returned this past fall to Jim for a complete kitchen makeover. Jim was very patient with us revising and tweaking the drawings as the project took shape. Custom cabinets, and Quartz counter tops. Cabinet Discounters stayed on delivery schedule and installation went without a hitch. We couldn’t be more pleased, and would highly recommend there services.
We decided to remodel because our old kitchen was dark and didnt function very well. After seeing my sons kitchen, we chose to work with Cabinet Discounters. Our designer Lorraine had great suggestions leading to a final plan. Our installation team (Neil and Joel) were fantastic with great attention to detail. We couldnt be happier with the outcome and love coming down to a bright and uplifting kitchen. Our new island provides us special pleasure, relaxing and enjoying the newspaper. If there is one thing we would change it is that we wouldnt wait so long to do this work!!!
Cabinet Discounters and in particular Jim Polzin has been providing quality products and service to our home improvement business for the past 12 years. Designs are always spot on no matter what kitchen configuration challenges he is presented with. Cabinet Discounters makes scheduling a breeze and quickly resolves any issues that we might have along the way. It is now time to do our own personal Kitchen remodel and I cannot wait to get started! Thank you Jim
Steve and his team from Cabinet Discounters took care of us well. After going to 3 other places, we decided to go with them and are very happy with the results for our renovated kitchen. He was patient, knowledgeable and they had a great showroom to make the experience pleasant. While we didnt go with their counter-tops (another place had an amazing sale), it all came together nicely.
Excellent experience all around. We started out at the Annapolis Cabinet Discounters and were totally unimpressed. Our tile supplier recommended trying the Columbia outlet so we did. What a completely different story. Couldnt have been more friendly and accomodating. Steve Fair helped us and explained every option that we should consider for our Master Bath Reno. He spend several hours with us and we ended up with a plan we were happy with. Delivery was exactly when they said it would be and the vanity and wainscoting that we got looks great. Highly recommended.
I am an interior designer and have worked with Cabinet Discounters (Jim Polzin) for the past 12 years and I have always been impressed with the quality of their product as well as their friendly staff. Designing a kitchen or a bathroom can be a very emotional process for some people. I truly appreciate the pleasant customer service and attention to detail that Jim gives to me and my clients.
Lorraine in Columbia is the best. Very attentive, professional, low-pressure, knowledgeable. We got exactly what we wanted . . . clean lines, modern concept. Impressed with the install team as well. Would definitely use them again~
Steve Fair and the craftsmen at Cabinet Discounters did an outstanding job renovating our kitchen and two bathrooms. Steve played a critical role in helping us design the renovations, pick the appropriate cabinetry, tile, bathroom fixtures, etc. We worked with Cabinet Discounters to select the work we wanted to do ourselves and the work their craftsmen did, helping us reduce cost and get the final product we wanted. The installation department was easy to reach and craftsmen were always on-time and very courteous. Ive recommended Cabinet Discounters to two neighbors who have seen the work and were very impressed.
My wife and I stopped in one day to try and get an idea of what cabinets we would need for our office. We had a general idea of the look we wanted, as well general measurements (based off our home floor plan that we designed a year ago). We were greeted by Steve Fair at the door and we told him why we were there, we also told him we were being referred by a previous customer of Cabinet Discounters. He proceeded to show us some cabinets and we told him our general measurements. He stated that “without actual measurements, we were wasting our time.” He gave us his card and I told him I would send him our actual measurements as well as what cabinets we wanted a price on. I sent him an email the same day with the actual measurements (our general ones were only off by about 6in) and what style cabinets we wanted. Well, that was about 3 weeks ago and I have not heard since. I was able to call another cabinet company and tell them exactly the cabinet styles and sizes I wanted and I had an estimate in about one hour. I guess the “discount” you receive here comes from the discounted service.
Excellent! They worked with us every step of the way. I was really impressed with their selection of counter tops and cabinets. The service was great and our kitchen is fantastic.
.Steve Fair at Cabinet Discounters, Columbia is responsible for my wonderful new kitchen. His honesty, humility, patience and excellent customer service helped me pick the perfect cabinets and counter top. Thank you.
I am a third generation builder working in Howard County, MD. I have been doing business with Jim Polzin for almost 20 years. I posted a review about four years ago and continue to be impressed with Jim and the entire company. He is the last of the truly competent kitchen men. Every order is complete, in great condition and arrives on time. Jim works well with customers for selection and design. He is available to meet with customers and solve any problems. Concerning service, many times Jim will visit the job himself to see if he can solve the problem immediately. If it requires a service call, he sets it up and it is taken care of professionally. Finally, Cabinet Discounters is able to meet every need by having control over every aspect of the cabinet business including kitchen and vanity cabinets of various levels, counter tops, service, shipping and design.
Awesome showroom. It help with my vision for my beautiful kitchen. Good service, products, and design.
My kitchen is full of life since Jim Polzin and CDI stepped into my home. He spent the time looking at my outdated cabinets and helped to come up with a creative solution that met my needs. Since its completion, our home has been the place that friends and family want to be when there is an opportunity to get together. I could not be happier with the sales process and attention to detail demonstrated by everybody involved. Jim responded quickly and professionally to my questions. The seamless installation was completed on time and without any complication.
This company has been nothing but nightmare. My husband put in these cabinets himself and by doing this, realized that many cabinets had some major flaws. Sections not glued correctly, or not glued at all, hardware missing or put on wrong. Dove tails were missing pieces or splitting the wood. We would ask for replacements and each time it would take 2 weeks or more to get to us and once received it would also be damaged. The store has even forgotten to order replacements and we were left hanging with an unfinished kitchen for months! When you have installers, you do not see the poor quality. Give it a few years and you may find out soon enough.
This is the last time my wife and myself will be using Cabinet Discounters. They’ve done a good job two prior times on separate homes, so we thought they would continue doing this good work; but we were wrong. The prior two times, they delivered the cabinets the same day they were being installed. This time they delivered the cabinets almost two weeks prior, filling up our living room and dining room with boxes. They had to be told what to do according to the contract (i.e. not installing two outlets they said they would install). We had to call back the electrician and plumber back several times because of their errors. We also had to tell them that they needed to even the floor, and they did not to a great job with that either. They requested the final sum prior to returning for the final inspection since we were paying via credit card, and we agreed. Through the final inspection over two weeks ago, there were some issues that were brought up. (i.e.: Cabinet not aligned, unevenness in counter-tops). They said that they would return and complete the work. Over three weeks later, there has been no word. The carpenter himself, I think did a very good job. I’ve gave them 3 stars because overall it looks nice. But when you sacrifice so much money, one expects not to have to tell them how to do their work. Be aware, they DO NOT PAINT, and they do not prep the walls for painting. (They will let you know that ahead of time).I guess I will have to finish-up their work.We put our review also in Angies List.
Always easy to work with.Jim Polzin always takes care of my clients.their efficient and that saves time and that makes me money!!!
Wouldnt recommend them but got a nice finished product out of it due to much effort on our end. Our initial experience with cabinet discounters was great. Our designer we worked with was super helpful and friendly. It seemed like this would be a great route to take for a full kitchen renovation. But little did we know, cabinet discounters (or the crew we got from the Columbia location) would not live up to their project management, quality and customer service promises. We had several complaints but it boiled down to lack of project management which I thought we were getting by going with a well established corporate entity. Our timeline was not adhered to and we felt like they took short cuts or tried to do as little as they could get away with. Here are some quick specific complaints:There were no permits pulled. I am no expert but I assumed they would need to pull permits with a full kitchen reno that knocked down a wall and moved water, gas and electrical lines. But perhaps not? But they did make a big deal about testing for asbestos (in case they needed to perform an abatement which = more $ in their pocket). However they werent all that thorough and careful in their clean up - there was confirmed lead paint but no asbestos. They did put up a plastic wall but since it took weeks, our house was full of dust and debris that kept settling and then kicking back up again once they began work again. It was a mess.Speaking of timeline, the length of the project was unnecessary long with unexplained downtime. According to the schedule, the project was set to be 5 weeks and 2 days. Originally, this seemed very long and even early on we noticed that there were days where no work was happening. The project ended up being almost 7 weeks and it was never made clear to us why it took so long and why there were days that no work happened. They were not accommodating when is came to unknowns. Our door wasnt delivered on time so they removed that from the scope but since they actually took so long to finish, the door DID eventually arrive before they were finished but they claimed they didnt have enough time to install it and it was already removed from the scope so we had to get it installed by someone else. I say they were just being lazy. Same issue came up when we wanted to add more tile, but nope, they didnt have time so we had to get someone else to do it. But when they found unknowns (extra electrical wires that needed to be hidden) it added so much extra time.Quality wise, it seemed like they were just trying to get things done, quickly. The electric outlets were not installed straight. You need to insert the plug at an angle. I had to make them come back to clean up and fill nail holes after they were all said and done. Dont expect them to do a thorough clean up. I had to get them to clean the inside of the drawers which were filled with dust and debris. And since they drilled through into/through the basement, there was tons of dust and debris that I had to ask them to clean up which they did a little but still not a very thorough job.Overall, we love the finished product but it was quite an annoying experience dealing with them which I chalk up to lack of project management and quality standards. Our designer, who was still great through out the project, ended up being our pseudo project manager which was probably alot on her. She was the saving grace of this project.
I have been working with CD and Jim Polzin for many years. Jim is a knowledgable and experienced sales person and meets the needs of my clients. After 100s of kitchen packages, I can say Jim and CD are a great combination for design and procurement of custom kitchen and bath cabinetry and countertops. Their service is great and the product comes in on time.
