I rented from Barzell for two years. I have dealt with numerous rental companies in the Columbia area and Barzell was the best I have rented from by far. They are reasonable on rent prices, reasonable with lease terms, and overall not intrusive and easy to deal with. Highly recommend Barzell for anyone looking for a reasonable landlord that is willing to be of assistance with any needs you may have.
Super great price for proximity to campus and downtown. The one bedroom apartment I am currently renting is very spacious for one person. Maintenance is nice and attentive. I had an oven that stopped working and they replaced it within less than a week! When I was first looking at their apartments, management was always quick to email back and willing to show different apartments multiple times. If they have any open apartments and youre looking for a 1-3 bedroom, definitely consider renting with Barzell.
Just great people and will go out of their way to help you find what you are looking for I just love my apartment Today (1/15/2018) they fixed weather stripping on my front door. They did a great job .They are always here for their rental customers. I just do not know how people can not give them an excellent rating. These are very kind and helpful people. Hats off to all that work for Barzell apartments.
I have been a tenant for Barzell for 5 years, and they have been amazing. Great price, great people, and great service. They go above and beyond to make sure that my apartment is safe and are always available in case of emergencies.
Ive rented from Barzell for about four years in two different locations. Their locations have been ideal for college life and downtown activities. Their management team and maintenance crew are always chill, prompt, and courteous. I recommend giving them a try.
Lovely group of people to work with. Always there when needed, and they offer very competitive pricing for their units.
I lived in Eagle Crest for two years while completing my Masters at Mizzou. The staff were always very friendly, addressed any complaints or issues I had immediately, and were always able to answer questions I had in a timely manner. Eagle Crest was a quiet, perfect atmosphere for a graduate student and I would highly recommend the location to anyone. The rent is affordable (even on a graduate student salary) and its close proximity to downtown was really nice. You have the closeness to downtown without all the crazy drunk people licking each other and screaming until 4AM. Earlina is particularly sweet and I could tell she really cared about the tenants.
Good apartments. Great price. Maintenance and management are very responsive for service calls.
Their apartments are cheap, but its not worth the price. They are very unprofessional and their places are run-down. The management always seems to be annoyed. They are always fixing something in the apartment complex. When an intruder came on several occasions, they were unhelpful and unsympathetic. The police, on the other hand, were very helpful. I would rather live under an interstate bridge than this apartment. It would probably be cleaner and safer. If a friend asked me whether they should live here, Id say DO NOT RENT BARZELL!!!!
Never before, not by Wal-Mart or any other business, have I been treated with such blatant disrespect. The Landlord knows we are students and is interested in little more than collecting our money. Her assistant, and main point of contact, is insufferable. Shes the type of person who will knowingly be inconsiderate just to establish their dominance in a situation. She shows up unannounced for showings all the time and took it personally when I asked her to call ahead.Barzell in a nut shell: I was woken up by my roommate at 7:30 A.M. on a Wednesday, he told me I had to move my car from the driveway. Barzell had sent roofers over UNANNOUNCED at 7:30 in the morning. I was asleep in my bed and next thing I know Im wasting their time. Huge trail taking up our driveway, constant banging and creeks above us. No call ahead, no thank you.The house was a mess when we moved in. The basement flooded, and they made us pay. You have one day to pay rent and then youre charged a late fee... You are just dealing with low class people at Barzell.
I lived at the Eagle Crest apartments they manage for a year and have no complaints. They never overcharged. They responded to maintenance issues. I give them a 3-star review, mainly because I found them okay. They left me alone and I got an affordable 2-bedroom apartment with a dishwasher, washer/dryer hook-ups that was close to downtown. It wasnt the prettiest, newest place, but it had no bugs or leaks or icky bathtubs. The only incident that brings them down is that there was several miscommunication mishaps the first couple of months while I settled. Accidental, and the manager was very professional about it, but annoying to me nonetheless.
Just renewed! The rent is reasonable and the staff is friendly and quick to respond to any request.
Its been one year renting with Barzell, no problems, the staff are very friendly and helpful
I rented from Barzell for about 4.5 years and never had a single issue with them. The rent is affordable and the staff are friendly and helpful.
I have been a Barzell tenant for 18 months. The staff are friendly and accommodating.
After renting from Barzell for 4 years during my time as an undergraduate, I am happy to commend them for their excellent service. The staff is always polite, and maintenance is consistently punctual. I had the pleasure of working directly with Susie and Earlina, both of who were extremely flexible and understanding. In an area where the horror stories of similar agencies-ahem, Remi-are oh so prevelent, its refreshing to work with a company that actually cares about their tenets.I was not compensated to write this honest and unbiased review. I just had a good experience, and thought Id share it with others looking to rent in Columbia. Avoid the mistakes of others, go with Barzell and you wont be let down.
Just trying to deal with these ass clowns has been a nightmare.Extremely unprofessional. After arriving at a scheduled appointment to look at a property (that was run-down and dirty) they called me to say that it was already leased. They recommended meeting me the next day to look at a place that was $150 more that clearly did not fit my needs. Then they recommended another place they had that was also $150 more and also didnt meet my needs and WASNT EVEN AVAILABLE!!! A tenant MIGHT want to sublease it in about a month. They only handle rundown apartments so you just know they wont fix things. Slum lords and idiots.
The absolute worst. Gas leaks every month. One month a gas leak leaked 5-6 cubic feet of gas per day into the apartment, I had to check myself into emergency care and they refused to compensate me even for the $150 gas bill when something was clearly wrong with the building and they even admitted the problem and came out to fix it. Also, kept over 3/4 of the deposit because their records showed I hadnt paid the full rent when I know with 100% certainty that I had--but, with moving, I lost some of the receipts and had others in different places and was unable to do anything about it. ABSOLUTE WORST. THESE PEOPLE SHOULD NOT BE IN BUSINESS.
THE WORST LANDLORD I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH...and I have dealt with the worst. DBC was a joke, but I would rent from them for twice what they are worth if Barzell was the only other option. They come in all the time, unannounced, and act like you are in their way. The maintenance is nice, and will work with you, but only within the restrictions of management. The apartments are old, smell, and are full of every bug you can imagine. The cabinet doors would just fall off in the kitchen, once almost hitting my newborn in the head. I advised them about BLACK MOLD in my 5 yr olds bedroom, and they DID NOTHING. They just let it go, along with BLACK MOLD in several places throughout the apartment. The upstairs bathroom flooded down into ours and it started to leak through the ceiling...all they did was fix the leak. They said they would not be repairing the ceiling. Then, after it had molded, and we all started to get sick...they tried to tell me it was my fault. They are awful people of the lowest standards in this town. THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF. Do not rent from them...trust all of us leaving reviews here...DO NOT RENT FROM THEM! Contact Dan Johnson if you want a quality place for the price...best landlord I have ever had!
Friendly people and good selection
