Car was towed out of my townhouse complex on a Friday night and of course no one was available to release the car till the next day...after 4 pm. I was towed for β€˜blocking a walkway’ where there was no ramp and zero evidence provided to prove that I was in the wrong. Just a shoulder shrug from the guy who reluctantly showed up, late, to release my vehicle. Found quite a few scratches on the rear of my new vehicle of course that they claim they are not liable for. Pretty much the definition of predatory towing.

Supposedly my car was parked in the grass and not completely on the driveway. Mind you 1 the car was towed in to my driveway. And 2 when it was towed in there was snow everywhere. So the issue was a variance issue as my front drivers tire was half in the driveway and half in grass. They claim they put a sticker on the window the day before. Yet there is NO sticker and NO residue from any tape on ANY of the windows. Ended up paying almost $300 for it to be towed from south Academy to 8th st. They are Total Scam and Con Artists. My family visited a complex of town homes managed by Z and R Property Management (stay away from them too). We arrived to unload a crib near the front door of our hosts home. As we approached the front door, a hooded man walked past us and continued up the street on foot. After being in the house 10 minutes, we headed back toward our vehicle to load the crib, only to find our truck was taken. It turns out that Fire Lane signs in this development do NOT need to be modified to current build codes. One and ONLY one of the signs is faced parallel to the street, making it impossible to see at night. We found out that Collins Towing is permitted to tow from properties managed by Z and R Property Management. When my husband went to pick up his truck from Collins Towing the following day, he quickly recognized the business owner as the hooded man from the night before. When he questioned Collin about his presence on the street before the tow, Colin denied being on site. In the same breath, he admitted he was the one who took the photos of the tow that I was disputing with the property manager. There is a racket going on between them.

The woman at the desk had a child in her lap, and was extremely rude and had an attitude the entire time. Their, office stinks and needs a good cleaning, their staff should be trained on professionalism. The only good thing that happened was when the rude lady left with her kid, and the younger gentleman, kept the place open a little longer as we were waiting for help to pay for the rest of the tow. There was no reason for this experience to be so bad. Had they been a little more kind, and less rude, especially when asking them questions, I would have given a higher rating.

I saw a man with white hair last night in our community at 12am who had parked the towtruck in the fire lane illegally, and he was walking around the entire few blocks looking for cars. I watched him, and when he noticed me a sped off very violently zooming down the street. This company doesnt even give the legal 24 hours notice. They are on the hunt to basically steal your vehicles. This specific towing company is not one that my HOA even uses. I have two numbered parking spots, and my roommates car was towed by them overnight for an alleged flat tire. In a privately owned parking space! I called my HOA who put me in contact with our towing service, and they didnt have her car. These scam artists, Collins towing, had her car.. They stole it. Watch out for them. He walked over to leave and the tow truck said they would not let him leave unless he paid them $70 for parking in a spot with out a visitor permit! They had to have been right around the corner. Both the garage and door to the house were open.My husband and I walked outside to find Collins Towing chaining to my Jeep. His response was, If the doors had been open, it would have been fine to have your Jeep there for a few minutes. I have had issues in the past where people moving decide to take a 3 hour break and think it is okay to leave their car in a fire lane.Wonderful company, huh? Well, just because Texas doesnt put the sticker on the plate, doesnt mean my tag is invalid. If he had taken the 5 extra steps it wouldve taken him to knock on my door, I could have shown him proof that my tag is neither invalid, nor expired. Instead, I had to stand outside (on my ONE leg I might add) to scrape off the sticker from the window. While I was struggling in the wind, the guy drove slowly by, with his window down and I hollered to him. He acted as if he didnt hear me and continued driving on. My recommendation of this place?!?! They obviously dont get much business or they wouldnt need to go around vandalizing innocent peoples vehicles. Speed, dont walk from this business.

We parked our Hyundai in snow conditions so one tire was half way dangling off drive way hovering above grass line so this company thought they should tow our car by dragging it and leaving a streak on our drive way backing up and their tow truck leaked oil all over the neighbors drive way across from us which a neighbor witnessed. No one knocked on our door and said hey your car tire is hanging over a bit now that the snow has melted. I have photographed steaks on drive way and oil all over neighbors driveway. We called the police and they said its a civil matter unfortunately but the officer thought what they did was really wrong. Tow company was unapologetic and said take it up with the HOA. These people are looking for any excuse to tow and make a buck. They said they can make a snap judgement and tow any car they want for Even the smallest of issues. Definately a great way for them to make money. This is so morally wrong. I should have my dad who is a minister pray for these guys as they dont currently treat others as they wish to be treated (golden rule). We live in a nice attached home complex off Reasearch and Austin bluffs on Snow Cap Vw and we are friends with our neighbors and get along with all so we knew it wasnt anyone here pulling this stunt. I live in a duplex and my cars plates expired at the end of Jan. On March 1st I notice a huge yellow sticker on my car saying they will tow it on March 2nd for having no valid plates. This is not an apartment complex, my car was parked in MY DRIVEWAY and is the car I use on a daily basis. Ill admit I failed to get new tags in time, these things can be overlooked, happens to the best of us.Also want to point out my vehicle is valued at around $30,000, which may not be much to some, but should exempt it from the typical towing of broke down or otherwise unsightly vehicles to keep the neighborhood looking nice. They may have some sort of agreement with my HOA but from what Ive read from other reviews, they will try to hold your car as long as possible to maximize the fee to release your vehicle. Taking it on a Friday, turning customers away because they dont have time that day to release it, and then charging them 3 times as much the following Monday to pick it up. Can anyone recommend someone to file a complaint through? Someone at the city level who can actually do something about it. Theyre not BBB accredited either and Im sure everyone will agree that their shady tactics should not be allowed to continue. On a side note, is there a city law stating how long they need to give warning before towing? On the BBB website they replied to a complaint stating they gave the owner a 2 hour notice. What good is a two hour notice? Also, just because you place a sticker on a car doesnt mean the owner saw it and shouldnt constitute as said owner being notified. Personally I think a week would be enough notice to fix whatever issue your having and the owner surely would see the sticker within that time frame. Unless they are deployed but thats a whole other issue entirely.

This rating is based on their customer service. Am I mad that they towed our car after giving a warning two days previously? Am I mad that they towed us at 1am on a Sunday when the DMV isnt open and we cant get a new sticker for the license plate unless the DMV is open? I am a little mad. But I understand that they have a contract with the HOA and are just doing their job.My review is about the treatment I received. Their location is scary, dirty, and the office is a shack with no heat. We were made to wait a while in the freezing cold (like 25 degrees) inside the office. When the last customer leaves, the man is rude and short with us. I asked numerous questions and wanted to see the contract with the HOA. But half of the questions I asked or things I said were ignored by the man. He spent most of the time on his cellphone texting and even answered a phone call and walked about for a few minutes in the middle of our conversation without apologizing or excusing himself.I would caution young women to be careful before going here alone. Its not a safe area, and the people that were around made me nervous (and Im from Chicago so Im not being oversensitive).Lastly, the charges we were given were not the same as the contract with the HOA. He was contracted to charge a certain amount and charged us more. When I pointed it out, he said to talk to the association because hes changed his prices. If you have a choice, do not do business with this company. If you get a warning, go hide your car in a garage or park on the street away from your driveway. They will be back soon and theyll take your car and charge you fees and sometimes more fees than the contract authorizes them.

This companys practices are unethical at best and border line illegal. They park blocks away and walk to the complex we have been working at inorder to tow as many people`s cars as possible. They are cowards and are afraid of getting caught breaking the law which they continually do so they lurk in the shadows. After working yesterday and leaving for the night I arrived back to work at8 am only to go to my vehicle at 9 30 am to find it gone add well as my dog who was in the car. Against the advice of the humane society they refused to give my dog water as he sat in the sun in a car with no windows down or any other ventilation for hours while I tried to figure out who had my car as there are no signs posted anywhere about anything having to go with a car getting towed period. When I finally found both my car and dog he was burning up in the sun thirsty and scared to death. To top it off the hit my new car with yet another vehicle that was towed from this same Complex and denied any wrong doing even though it happened on their property. I almost had to pay an extra storage fee because there was nobody available at their own establishment to release my vehicle. There are certain places where cars are towed and it is completely justifiable (Fire Zones, specific streets, areas where a TOW AWAY sign is located...) but having your car parked beside a curb that no such sign exists, nor curb painted red is not justifiable for $300 in towing fees. I wouldnt rven give them one star, really...granted nobody is going to be happy about getting their car towed, and I take full responsibility for parking in a reserved parking space but the towing fines these money hungry scumbags impose is insane .... $300 towing charge that I had to pay! Might as well be straight thieves!
