I cannot say enough great things about Body Alive!I used to be a college athlete, and I was dying for a team atmosphere and the feeling of a good workout.I love the body sculpt and body challenge classes! They are INTENSE, but you feel so accomplished. The instructors are ALL amazing (book a class with Bobby he is a perfect human), and so knowledgeable. In addition to the staff at the gym, the HR and people in their business department are so great too. I emailed them with questions in regards to my account and they got back to me within 10-12 hours. 😊The studios, locker rooms, and showers are so clean, and well maintained. They never smell bad, and always stocked! If you’re looking for a great workout, surrounded by wondeful people- this is the place to be!!!Thank you BA for pushing me to get back to where I want to be. I finally feel β€œmyself” again!!

I absolutely love Body Alive. I always struggled to find a gym and workout I could consistently commit to. I’ve been going to BodyAlive for 3 months now, consistently 5-6 times per week. I’ve found instructors who push me, classes I love, and have made friends to go with! The community Body Alive creates is incredible and I can’t wait to hit many milestones at this favorite place of mine!

I love love love Body Alive!! I have always struggled finding a fitness routine that excites me and motivates me since I left Planet Fitness. I joined Body Alive to try something different, but was nervous about the difficulty at first. I started with a barre class once a week and now a year later I am going to class between 5-6 days a week and have explored most if not all of the other class options. My favorites are pilates and barre, but have recently started taking yoga and bounce and have been loving those as well. I love the flexibility and how the instructors encourage you to modify your practice as you need. I injured my wrist in December of 2020 and certain exercises have become extremely difficult if not impossible. The instructors have helped me find ways to still complete the workouts without causing further injury.

This review applies to the Body Alive Moon Valley studio in Phoenix - different location, same owners. My wife and I were loyal patrons at BA Moon Valley since January 2020; supporting the studio from the time they reopened and sticking with them through the pandemic. For months, I was taking full advantage of the unlimited monthly package; practicing almost every day through both the recorded and live classes. That is until June 14, 2021 when I received the following email from owner Paul Bain:β€œI was very clear about what I wanted and you fully understood our conversation- I am not interested in arguing with you about this. I am sorry you were offended by our rules and the way I want my studio run, but it is my choice, correct? I was hoping you would respect that but obviously you dont. I think since there are so many other studios that will allow you to practice the way you want, you should go join one of them.As of today, your membership will be canceled and we will return any money owed you.”The β€œrules” he is referring to is modifying my practice to my comfort and skill level and not following the sequence closely enough. He claimed to be acting in response to complaints they received. He sent me this response when I dared to ask him to clarify himself about the complaints and my practice. So sad as that studio had such a strong community of practice when they bought it.V. Murphy

Love, love, love Body Alive. The instructors are kind and amazing and will help you to develop your practice as far as you want to go...or encourage you to modify and do what you need that is right for you. No pressure. No judgement. You can’t do yoga wrong there. I recommend for beginners through advanced. Be careful! It is totally addictive and you will gain strength and serenity...mind, body, and spirit!

I canceled my membership over a year ago and have email confirmation of cancellation. They’ve continued to charge my card every month, despite repeated unreturned phones calls and disputed charges with my credit card company. I had to get a new CC number to get them to stop charging me. The classes were good, but I’ve never had this much trouble with a gym.

Good spacing to allow for physical distancing. I feel safe there. The instructors are pretty good but the music and their microphones are way too loud. The loud music competes with the Yogis instructions which echo so if youre lucky you can hear 50% of what the teacher says. Thats still, I enjoyed the work out. Its so good to get a sweat on again.

Great hot yoga classes! Love to come once a week and sweat/meditate. Classes are great for beginner to advanced. Was not really a fan of how competitive the spinning was, but if that motivates you go for it! Overall nice facility, super clean, welcoming staff, inclusive atmosphere. My only critique is to maybe be a tad more instructive on the harder moves in the hot yoga. I would like to advance my practice but it seems like once we get past the moderate level you just see the advanced yogis doing their own thing....and I want to learn how to keep up with them!

Great studio for spin, barre and yoga.Ive only taken spin and yoga classes here, but thought they were great. The spin bikes are real ryder which are slightly different from your typical spin bikes, and can lean side to side. This isnt a bad thing, just different, and in theory gives you a better work out. My only complaint with the spin classes is the room temperature. Depending on the instructor, it can get pretty hot due to the lack of fans in the room. Usually the room isnt too bad though, as I said, it just depends on what the instructor sets the thermostat to.Yoga classes are great. Most of the instructors are very knowledgeable, and help students move through the poses at their own level. Only complaint about yoga is during busy classes, think Saturday mornings, the room can get a little packed. But that just shows the popularity of the studio. All in all, its a great studio.

I reached out to Katie (the one I emailed about the promotional package) immediately requesting that I not be charged because I was unaware of the automatic debit, and I no longer wished to continue classes, but she said no. I only attended 2 classes during the 2 month package because I quickly realized that I did not care for the classes. Typically when you purchase a package it ends when its expires and does not continue on.

Ive been doing the hot yoga (and my first hot Pilates yesterday) for two weeks now at the new Crestview Hills Studio. Its so tough for me, but I love it and with each class I find I do a little better and its not as hard as the one before. Shannon is wonderful and gentle corrects my movements and I know Im in good hands. Nobody judges one another and it is such a great environment. Body Alive auto-enrolled me in a monthly Orange membership after the conclusion of a trial membership without my consent. They acknowledged, in writing (via email), that the agreement I signed (when purchasing the trial membership in June 2018) did not indicate any auto-enrollment would occur. They clarified further that later revisions of the agreement included language related to auto-enrollment at the conclusion of trial memberships, but that my agreement did not contain this language. The representative stated that it is posted on the company website and in studios that all intros roll into memberships and that 72 hour written notification is required to cancel. However, if that was the case during my trial membership, I do not recall seeing them, and they may have been added at a later date. Regardless, posters in the studio and commentary on the website do not supersede the written agreement. Body Alive did offer to let me use these months at a later date or gift them to a friend, but Body Alive refused to return the unauthorized transactions and these resolutions were not acceptable. Body Alive stated that their policy is to not authorize refunds. This is an absurd policy and I personally have never heard of a business that makes refunds β€œagainst company rules”.Since the representative was unable (or unwilling) to resolve the issue in an ethical manner, I contacted my bank and also submitted a complaint to the Better Business Bureau (BBB) regarding the deceitful business practices. Less than a week after filing a dispute claim with my bank and the complaint with the BBB, my bank successfully got a refund from Body Alive for the full amount, $240.I urge you to NOT do business with Body Alive even for a trial membership. There are many other yoga studio options and many other companies with trial memberships and intro discounts. Based on the other reviews on Google, Body Alive has behaved in this deceitful way with other customers. This is not a one-time occurrence and they continue to conduct their business in an unethical way without self-awareness (or acknowledgement) of the ongoing exploitation of customers.

MY EXPERIENCE AT BODY ALIVE WAS PERFECT. The front desk was friendly and helped me orient to where equipment was. Facilities were clean and orderly. Fellow students helped me get set up. The workout (Fusion with Kenzie) was a great balance on cardio and strength. Her playlist was spot on for each set. The talk was motivational throughout without being preachy. Even better, rather than being a huge chain I learned Body Alive is a locally owned and operated company. Loved.

Hot yoga is pretty good. Havent tried cycling - it costs extra per class even with membership. Had a pretty bad barre class - resistance bands used in a manner that didnt challenge the targeted muscle groups, actually made core exercises super easy, shoulders burning with no challenge to triceps/ biceps and hip strengthening was not adequately addressed. I asked the instructor after the class how they receive training. The training is local to their studio, and they do not follow other barre programs or any nationally recognized programs for strength and conditioning. I have been to tons of group fitness classes in various cities and also at different studios in Cincinnati. In sum, its a cheap workout option, you get what you pay for. Dont go as a beginner to fitness, you will probably get an jnjury.

I bought the 2 month Groupon to try out the Kenwood location. It has been about a month and I have absolutely wonderful things to say about this location and its staff. The customer service is excellent and even had an instructor email me about my first time, welcoming me to the studio. The instructors are very supportive, understanding of limitations, and encouraging to try one extra pose or set.I have taken the following:Barre with Chelsea and Bethany: both have different variations in the exercises and I get a full workout that is worth every second of soreness.Hot Yoga with Lynne and Trisha: again, different approaches and I actually am much better at my poses under their instruction. They guide but dont wear me out with a bunch of dialog. I am picky with my yoga and want instruction on my poses one segment to the next but I dislike it when an instructor uses the class to talk too much.Cycling with Melanie and Alyssa: same thing, different routine, different challenges and wow, my most difficult class. I really suggest that you do not give up after the first try. I wanted so bad to walk out and sometimes I still do but just stick with it. It is a great test for you to learn how fit you are or are not. The seat is painful at first so I bought some cycling shorts to get me through so I am not so distracted. I didnt wear cycling shorts last time and it wasnt so bad. Just go at your pace, slow down and miss a rep or two to catch your breath, then try again.Hot Vinyasa Flow with Stacy: I have been going to Stacy at another facility. I think, coupled with the other hot yoga classes, I have began to see the difference with the hot vinyasa flow. Stacy is simply one of the most wonderful human beings in yoga so her classes are a must. She always changes up her flow instructions to give you something new to try. I would love to take out the chair pose but I shall suffer through it.Overall facilities: A clean and wonderful environment with respectful classmates. Fantastic customer service, great hours and class selections, and opportunities to get more instruction through workshops.
