I cant say enough great things about Decibel and their staff. Tucker really knows his stuff. Picked up an integrated amp here last summer and a pair of speakers last week. Why do I love this place? Great gear. Great expert advice and they dont oversell you. Sure you can spend a fortune on high-end audio, but Tucker advises to your budget or to your needs and doesnt push you to buy something you wont get the most value from. That approach builds long term customer relationships. Major credibility and major respect, in my opinion.

Ive bought, sold, and traded with these folks and its always a great experience. The owner is also a good guy and treats people with respect. Some other stores have a few more brands that I prefer. Though, if you need turntable service or advice - deciBel should be in your top three for Chicago.

The staff is absolutely amazing. They will let you demo some very nice equipment ranging from some harder to find (to demo) headphones, and some very nice audio setups. Going to this store is a fantastic experience even if you dont buy anything.

They have a great selection of super high end stuff as well as refurbed stuff more in the mid-range.They also have a large selection of speakers, cables, and accessories and they do repairs as well.I picked up a nice dual-deck Onkyo tape deck for $80 that they had fixed up into like-new condition. These guys know their stuff.In typical hipster fashion, I was in the market for a record player and didnt want to buy it from some box store like Urban Outfitters, so I walked over to DeciBel instead. I didnt know much (and still dont know much) about the best options/needs/requirements for setting up any sort of in home sound system.They walked me through most everything, I, knowing nothing, gave them wrong info. I ended up buying a record player that was refurbished and it didnt end up working. I took it back same day, and it turned out it wasnt something they would be able to fix quickly. So, instead of making me stick with a product that they could fix in time, they got me an upgrade to a brand new record player - for the difference of course.Through it all, they were excellent.

If you love the high fidelity, you will love this place. Great people!
