I had a great experience at Arthur and Lucca having two pairs of dress pants altered. During the fitting, everything was explained clearly and they had great recommendations about fit. I’m so use to some old man telling me “pant legs can’t be that skinny” and this experience was the complete opposite. Had my pants back in roughly 2 weeks (I was in no rush) fitting better than ever. Would highly recommend.
I am so glad I took my wedding dress to Arthur and Lucca! Nick did a wonderful job, made me feel comfortable trusting him with my dress, communicated well, and was so helpful. It was a pleasure to work with him! I referred my mom and MOH to him for their dress alterations as well and they both had a great experience. I will definitely be going back with future dress alterations!
Bad service. Went in to get a groomsmen suit tailored. They gave me a pickup date of two weeks and were not able to finish the alterations on time. On top of that, they never actually tailored my suit pants. Picked them up completely unchanged. Would not recommend.
My husband and I had to elope with 2 weeks notice. Since summer 2021 has turned into double wedding season, no tailor was available. I found Arthur + Lucca via google search and I am so glad I did.Nicholas was amazing! He was professional, thoughtful, and helpful when I had no idea what I was trying to do with my wedding dress. He made suggestions, but was not pushy. He also was incredibly understanding of the situation and had a very fast turnaround. He is still implementing COVID practices, which I appreciated as well. For having to rush my wedding dress, his pricing was reasonable and I was in and out for both of my appointments. Would highly recommend.
The whole staff is awesome! Very good customer service. They did an awesome job with tailoring my jeans.
Nicholas and the Arthur and Lucca team were INCREDIBLE!! I was in a wedding on July 17th. On July 5th I woke up and realized I needed to face the fact that my bridesmaid dress (bought pre-pandemic) was not even going to remotely zip. I panic searched for tailors, found Arthur and Lucca and was able to schedule a next day appointment. When Nicholas saw just how small the dress was, he didn’t over promise but he was so amazing! He was kind, explained all possible scenarios and recommended the best possible option. They had to do some serious work on it. They turned it as quickly as their schedule would allow. I anxiously waited and on July 15 (two days before the wedding) I went to try on and pick up and it was AMAZING. It fit like a glove. Such great work in such a short time. I cannot thank Nicholas and the team enough!!
I had such a wonderful experience at this alteration shop. Not only did they do a phenomenal job but the alterations folks are so kind and helpful. Their return On my wedding dress was 10 days or less which is great because I definitely accidentally waited until the last minute to get it altered. They have great and upfront prices and are generally just a joy to be around. I would highly recommend going to the shop for anyone who is looking to get their wedding dress altered!
I highly recommend Arthur and Lucca. Their work is high quality and the staff is extremely professional. I have always gotten my clothing back exactly how I wanted it after it was altered by the people at Arthur and Lucca. If you are looking for a great place to get your clothing perfect for you then look no further!
I took a wool overcoat to Arthur and Lucca to have the sleeves shortened. They did an incredible job at a fair price. The staff is professional, knows what they are doing and it was an overall pleasant experience.
Amazing work, very professional and good at what they do. They were able to alter both a suit and pants in just 2 hrs. Im always coming back here.
Service is great and alterations are top notch. I drive out from the suburbs to get alterations done here.
Amazing custom made-to-measure suits at some of the most affordable prices you will find, with in-house tailors for alterations
Great experience. Fast turn around too. Worth the cost for sure. Also Ashley (I think that’s her name) who helped me was very kind and great to work with.
We use them to make our masks and absolutely love the quality and craftsmanship of their sewers
I had my wedding dress altered here, two fittings in 5 weeks. While pricey, my experience was that the care to detail and final product were worth the dime. My wedding dress fit so perfectly, and the service was pleasant. I highly recommend.
My experiences were when the business was still known as Peter Field.Overall, sort of a mediocre experience, especially as someone new to suits. I bought 3 suits and paid about $500 to have a few alterations (pants hemmed, jacket brought in - thats it). Upon my first fitting, I asked for advice and basically got well what do you like? a dozen times back in return. It was really frustrating because I was looking for expert advice about how things should fit and I got very little help.Customer service was poor - the guy made the same awkward joke about my line of work three visits in a row and called me the wrong name repeatedly. Also, he gave me a hard time when I tried to explain why their booking procedure was hard to use (looks like they have a new site now) and when I asked for them to fix an undone hem less than a month after Id gotten it hemmed, he was quick to assure me that they wouldnt fix another one. I found the main guy (Steven?) to be really annoying and honestly hes the main reason Im not coming back.Prices are okay, turnaround time is okay, location is convenient. Has the trappings of a neat little boutique, but not the execution. I wont be returning.
I recently had three coats tailored and had a very positive experience. Due to heavy volume it took two months to get the alterations completed instead of the one month predicted. That said, the customer service in the store was top notch. Emily did a great job on the measurements and fitting. I am very satisfied with the service and the quality of the alterations.
They saved my wedding dress. My cousin, who lived in a different state, made the dress.Unfortunately, I was three weeks from the wedding before I got the dress after what we hoped was the final fitting. The dress was still too large and there was no time for me to fly to my cousin. Arthur & Lucca tailored my dress in rush, with a week to spare.I was very pleased and the prices are reasonable.
Amazing service. Amazing quality of work. Prices are worth it given their quality and service. Ive had 3 older Macys bought suits (jackets and pants) tailored (tapered, cut to length, etc.) and each one of them looks like a $1000 suit. I would highly recommend this business for anyone who wants any sort of non-simple alteration done.
I really enjoyed my experience at Peter & Field. I had a mens suit that required tailoring for a wedding to be more feminine (female groomsman), and I needed it in a two day turnaround. They did a marvelous job and rushed it. They do charge for expedited jobs, but it seemed fair to me considering I had no time to offer. Service was good. The shop experience was pleasant. It surpassed my expectations. It all worked out. I will go there again if I or my husband need tailoring/alterations services.
Excellent service and quality! Peter Field was recommended to me by a coworker, and Ive used them on two occasions since (thats also 100% of the alterations Ive needed.) Most recently I had some pretty significant work done to a tuxedo and was blown away by how good it came back looking. The prices are probably higher than you could find elsewhere, but I definitely felt like the quality of the work was worth it.
Best tailor I have ever worked with. Not only are they considerate and fairly priced, but you walk out feeling like youre part of their family with how personal they make the experience. Steven was fantastic and made sure that I was kept up-to-date regarding when my suit would be ready for pickup. I loved the end result and will definitely be back in the near future.
Strong knowledge of fit and how to get garments closer to your style
More expensive than your local tailor/dry cleaner combo but still fairly priced. Quality is amazing and turn around is quick for a little extra money. Highly recommend. Steven was very helpful.
Damn. I look good. Thank to Peter Fields. I brought a suit, a second pair of pants and shirt to be done before my uncles wedding and they were able to turn it around in two weeks. I am a fairly curvy woman who does not feel comfortable in dresses and womens suit tend to be a disaster of fashion. So I buy mens suits. And have them tailored. By Peter Fields. They take the time to go through exactly how much each alteration will cost and they leave the final decision up to you; they are not pushy about their services. You might pay a little more than you would at your local dry cleaner but if you want a garment to make you feel like a million bucks, these guys will do the job the right.
I took a brand new suit to Peter Field 5 days before a wedding to have it tailored properly. The place I bought the suit did an awful job. I met with Ben and we talked about what I wanted to have done and he gave me great advice on what would look best on me instead of trying to sell me on more alterations for the sake of doing them.I picked the suit up 3 days later (paid a little bit more for fast turnaround). It fit perfectly and was exactly as we had discussed. Prices are insanely reasonable too. My advice to anyone looking for a well-fitting suit: buy a decent suit somewhere and take it to Peter Field to have it fitted perfectly! I will definitely be taking my shirts and suits here to get tailored from now on.
Found Peter Field on yelp and decided to give them a trial run with a couple of shirts. The results were pure perfection, no complaints whatsoever and Im quite keen on details. It may be a bit pricier than some other places but Im willing to pay a premium to walk away 100% satisfied. Also Ben is very friendly and professional at the same time; he puts a personal touch with his customers and is very attentive. I recommend them highly
Outstanding mens tailoring shop. A brilliant idea, well-executed: Two young business guys have created the front-end for about a dozen Old World-trained European tailors. Terrific client service, impeccable tailoring. Ive had four suits, six sport jackets and over a dozen pairs of pants tailored by them. Completely satisfied. Were lucky to have them here in Chicago.
I called this place three time today asking if they could get pants altered and hemmed by Sunday (four days). On the phone they said it would be $30-35.00. What they neglected to mention was that cost was per alteration (not per item, or a flat fee). Otherwise they offered a four week turn around. Very disappointed, and unwilling to work with you to gain your business and satisfactory. Additionally, this place is on the top of level of four story building with an elevator that isn’t functioning. Avoid if you have a disability or need accommodations!
Hands down the greatest tailoring experience Ive had in the city! I went in last week to have a suit and shirt tailored. Today I now have 4 more shirts being tailored! Next week, Im likely going to be dropping off another 4... Service was great, location was great, their shop is great! You can not go wrong with Peter Field if youre looking for a tailor in Chicago! Oh, and not to to forget their micro fiber pocket squares, theyre top-notch too!
I am a regular at Peter Field and have all of my alterations done there. The staff is knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. The workmanship is superior. The prices are reasonable. Appointments are easy to schedule. Rush service is available and timely. Additionally, I have several of Peter Field’s custom pocket squares. They are very well-made, eye-catching, and stylish. Everything about this shop is perfect, and I recommend it to people all the time.
I see Ben at Peter Field on a regular basis, and hes always extremely friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Their work is also the best of any tailor Ive found in Chicago. They know modern clothing styles and cuts for professionals, and I continue to recommend them to friends on a regular basis. The only thing they could improve is opening another location closer to my office!
I’ve had 2 dress shirts and 2 pair of jeans tailored here. The shirts turned out great, however I was not contacted once the shirt alterations were finished so after waiting longer then expected I called wondering when the shirts would be done only to find out they already were. All in all ended up not getting the shirts back for 8 weeks when it should’ve been 5 weeks. One pair of jeans I had altered also turned out great, however the right pant leg seem split within a day of picking the pants up so I had to bring them back the following day to have it re-sewn. After the re-sew the jeans fit as expected, just inconvenient having to return to the studio and wait the additional week or so to pick up the pants. The second pair of jeans did not turn out as expected. I wanted them tapered from the knee down and shortened about an inch (from a 32 length to a 31 length). They were not tapered enough and the length was reduced to a 30 length. The tapering issue can be adjusted further so not a big deal, however the Alterations to the length obviously are not reverseable. Very frustrating paying for these alterations on top of the price of the jeans when the length is no longer satisfactory.
I have an amazing relationship with these guys and they do great work! Ive even had a suit made by them which fits me better than any other piece of clothing Ive ever worn. This is what having a real tailor should be like.Very highly recommend!
A friend recommended that I get my suit tailored at Peter Field. I was pretty shocked at how painless the entire process was. My suit looks great and I even brought back a few pairs of pants to get altered. Will now be my go to spot for tailoring.
Got my wedding suit taken care of here. Ben was the best! Spoke honestly. Made me feel confident that my wedding suit would look great... AND IT DID! Offered a little advice and suggestions for wearing it the right way & even provided a nice little garment bag for my travels. Would recommend to anyone & will definitely be back for all future alterations... Thanks, Ben!
As a Marine, I am very familiar with the incredibly strict uniform regulations and by extension, am very particular about how my clothes fit. Brought my USMC Dress Blues in to be fitted for my wedding and these guys nailed it. Have been coming here ever since for all my tailoring needs. I’ve worked with Steven multiple times since and am impressed with his skill, professionalism and personability.
My bad rating is largely over their communication and turn around time. I dropped off 3 items in send of February (25th to be exact according to my receipt) and didnt opt for expedited since they said 5 week turn around at that time. Well, its early May and I have not been contacted about my items being ready nor have their returned my calls inquiring about it. I would just show up but I dont think they keep all the items at their location on Washington unless you schedule a fitting appointment for pick up. This is ridiculous!
Have a truly bizarre policy of refusing to do a routine hem on a pair of pants because the person was not there to try them on. Just needed a hem to a 30” inseam... very easy request that turned into a total hassle. No problem at other similar places.
Great service! I had my wedding dress altered here, as well as a bridesmaid dress. The work is amazing, and timely. Definitely recommend!
Brought my suit in to be touched up before my wedding. Everything turned out great.
Go to a tailor and they recommend 10 different alterations, alterations that to be honest you probably dont need, but the game played is one where you may never come back so lets squeeze every dollar out of this guy. Or... You ask for advice, hey should I go full break on this? should I taper the leg? Maybe you dont even know what a taper is...Thats where I was, fed up with the traditional tailor looking for someone who gives you honest advice and tailors the suit to what YOU are looking for. If you are the type of person who highly values service and understands the importance of said service and the costs associated with it, because lets face it nothing worth doing is worth doing for free, go to Peter Field. You will not be disappointed.Ask for Ben.
Tremendous customer service and excellent quality at a reasonable price. Ben is knowledgeable, friendly and timely. Ive had seven suits taken care of here, and its safe to say the eighth will be as well.
Great service! One of the best custom tailors in Chicago. Beautiful new space just off Lake Street. Large dressing rooms. Nice selection of ties and pocket squares to go with your perfectly fitting suit!
Their tailoring is really exceptional. Have had them alter a few shirts and pants, going in today to have them tailor a tuxedo for a friends wedding.I have also bought a few of their ties and pocket squares which look great.
Simply put Nicholas, and the whole team at Peter Fields for that matter, is a professional. This is the kind of operation that I not only take all of my suits and sports coats to, but also refer all of my customers to. I have full assurance, from personal experience, that Nicholas and his team will deliver a suit that will exceed your expectations as far as tailoring. Not only will they make your suit look hundreds of dollars more expensive, as they use their expertise and passion for tailoring, they stick to the classic traits of tailoring (not wasting their time on trends, but giving you a product that will look as good today as it will in 50 years). The level of tailoring alone would keep me going back for more, but the customer service is also the real deal. Nicholas is an artist in his skill, but hes also the kind of guy youd want to grab a beer with (in your new suit). If you want to give new life to an old coat, dial-in an off the rack suit, or need some custom and classic neckwear, Nicholas is your guy.
I have been a customer of Peter Field for over 3 years and enthusiastically recommend their services. I have had nothing but a positive experience working with Ben and the team. The process is easy and convenient, and the work is always excellent. The fit is always perfect and this team knows exactly what they are doing.
Im a custom clothier and I had sent my clients here for alterations over the last year or so.Since they started their own custom clothing line, theyve been emailing my clients with their own offers. That is totally unethical. If youre a custom clothier, please beware.
Awesome service. They provided free measurements, three times in a row as new requirements came along, for a traditional attire I am getting from my home country. Dana is always really friendly and a pleasure to work with .
The first alterations place I took my jeans to said they couldnt help because of an intricate fringe hem. Peter Field did it quickly and easily at an affordable rate. Now my go-to!
Originally came in to have alteratoins on my father in-laws tuxedo for my upcoming wedding. We met with Ben and was great! Very personable guy, explains in detail what will be done, offer his suggestion/opinion and will do exactly what you want. Turn around time for tailoring garments has been great and the prices are very reasonable. Since the tuxedo fitting Ive been back multiple times to drop off clothing for alterations, Ben likes to get to know his clients and will carry on a simple conversation about how things are going with you. Ive also purchased some of their custom ties, pocket squares and shoe bags - all hand made. Im glad I came across Peter Field and hope theyre here to stay, its hard to find the right tailor that fits your style. Ive found mine.
I wanted to get some things slightly altered and most places that I go to they dont really even walk you through the process or what exactly theyre doing. Here, its a different story, very personable and knowledgeable staff will talk about the alternations, their effect on that garment, and how it fits in with where were at with menswear. I highly recommend this place.
I called them up literally the night before an event - Ben set me up with an appointment within the hour and for a reasonable rush charge, he had everything ready to pick up the morning after. He was super helpful, detail focused, and did an excellent job with my suit!
Great, fast service! Steven took my measurements, free of charge, for a suit I am buying from Thailand for a wedding. Very cool space in Chicago I will definitely visit again for measurements and/or tailoring.
I was happy with their service . No issues. Turn around is lengthy but is expected
Peter Field altered a suit for me in one week (including the Thanksgiving holiday weekend). Steven was very professional and helpful. I would recommend to anyone.
Rating only for customer service as I was never able to get a hold of anyone at this business despite leaving voicemails, emails via their website, and following their directions for contact via their voice message. Since their customer service was so poor before I was seen, I cancelled my appointment to find someone who will actually respond to messages.
I had a wedding in 5 days, and these guys worked magic on my tux. Scott was excellent.
I called Peter Field at the last minute for my boyfriend to get last minute alterations on a suit he needed for a wedding the next weekend. They came through and it fit perfectly, he looked fantastic and we were the hottest couple at the wedding.
There is a good chance you wont read my entire review so here is the summary: if you want the best tailor in Chicago, go here.Check out my Instagram to see some of their work: @DapperProfessionalI moved to Chicago in January and was looking for the best tailor in town to continuously assist me in getting clothes tailored 100% proper. I found Peter Field through Yelp and checked it out my first weekend in Chicago. These gents do it right. This is not your mom and pop tailoring shop (not that there is anything wrong with that). Ben, the owner, is one of the most knowledgeable gentleman I have encountered in this line of work. He knows the limitations of what can and cant be done through an alteration and he also taught me a lot of different alterations that can be done I have never heard of before. He ensures top quality work and you can sense it just by being in their shop. Is this the cheapest alternation in Chicago, no. But, their prices are definitely reasonable for the services they offer. If you need it right away, they can have it done right away, otherwise just prepare in advance for it to be a couple of weeks. In the past decade, I have worked with about a dozen tailors, these range from the classic Italian tailor to the younger edgy tailor. Ben and his team fall perfectly in the middle. They have the knowledge and quality of the classic Italian tailor, but they understand trends. Which is absolutely critical for any alteration shop. He can essentially consult you through the alteration which is extremely valuable, whether its your first time getting something tailor or its your 20th suit getting altered.I also shouldnt leave out the fact that the classic Italian tailor, well they have one of those, Michael, and he works in their shop. He can literally do anything by hand. They just got a button hole machine, which is the coolest thing (it will make your sleeve buttons on your suit jacket functional), which is a clear sign of a high quality suit.AND they have a cool bar, so I can enjoy a nice beverage.Reach out to me directly if you have any questions and Id be happy to answer them!
Fixed my broken zipper on the spot! Very helpful and friendly and its a beautiful place!
In the loop and always available for last minute alterations.
High quality/reasonable cost
This place is everything a tailor should be. Ive had nothing but fantastic experiences with the people here. Prices are fair, and theres a discount on all Bonobos items.
Always a pleasure.
One word: CLUTCH.
Amazing!
