Thom was extremely knowledgeable about the issues I was facing. When I brought my ‘05, 104k-mile Wrangler in, it has a lot of rattling going down the highway. Hitting a bump cause a lot of noise. Great and friendly service! They offer detailed diagnostics and also organize it in terms of priority, which makes it easy to know what jobs your car absolutely needs. I would just recommend asking other shops for estimates before telling them to start working on your car :)Update: Although their service consisted of great customer service I will not be returning. I took my car for a second opinion at Jiffy Lube. According to Thoms Four Wheel Drive, I needed to get my front and rear suspension. After taking it to Jiffy Lube for an alignment (as they did not include this when they changed my tires and balanced them) they told me nothing was wrong, so they proceded with the alignment. Jiffy Lube told me that my wheels needed to get balanced, which I got charged for at Thoms Four Wheel Drive!!!! As I said before, I would recommend taking your car to different shops to double check if your car really needs that work done (+ prices may be more affordable).

I cannot say enough about how amazing Thom and Greg and their team are (and Lindsay who is so on the ball). I’ve had some serious issues with my Toyota RAV4 and the team at Thom’s have stuck with me and worked tirelessly to get to the bottom of every problem. Took my XJ Cherokee to Thoms because my heat was blowing cold and spoke to Gregg. Little did I know I would find my new favorite shop on the Northside. After they flushed the system thoroughly my heater is almost TOO hot without any pricey repairs! They could have just skipped that step and told me the whole system was shot, but they know what theyre doing and saved me hundreds of bucks. Being a 2001 Jeep, naturally they gave me a comprehensive list of recommendations for other maintenance via text message including photos which was awesome. Never at any point did I feel like I was being upsold or pressured on anything. Returned the following week for a couple more maintenance items and once again had a great experience - on time and friendly service. If time allows, theyll even have your Jeep/4x4 washed when you arrive. They are a little more pricey than average, but you get what you pay for in this case. Good service Gregg and Thom!

I recently purchased a Honda CR-V from a nearby dealership and was looking for a shop to inspect the car and make sure it was in good order before finalizing the purchase. Thom’s had great reviews and they live up to it for sure! Set an appointment, dropped off the car, picked it up in the afternoon after a very thorough inspection. Greg explained everything in great detail and let me know about what needed repair. Mechanic shops are always pushy or tack on unnecessary items. Not here! My dad is a mechanic and pointed out the exact things listed by Thom’s inspection so they have my trust and will absolutely have my business once I decide to go through with these fixes or need anything else. Don’t bother going elsewhere, you’ll be very happy you chose Thom’s!

I have problems with my staring, far as the steering fluid line broke. And I need a shocks in my front suspension. And a few bearings put in. And other work done as well. But great service done.

The service at Thoms is impeccable. I went in for a routine maintenance and for a first-timer, I felt right at home. No repair center Ive been so far has ever offered me that.I was in and out in no time with oil change, new filters and a complimentary car wash. I am a happy customer.

Always professional and honest, Thoms provides excellent work quality. I called yesterday morning after arriving to work, my battery seemingly died on the drive. I called Thoms, Greg quickly diagnosed the problem as alternator malfunction, and advised having it towed to the shop. They have towing companies they work with. He got them on the phone, and within an hour my car was picked up and taken to the shop. Once the car was at the shop, Greg called and said it was the alternator, they could order one and have it by the end of the day. However, didnt have time to repair (it was nearly 4 by then). He would call me when it was ready. The next day by 9 am, Greg called and said the car was ready! It was cleaned and washed when I picked it up and purred like a kitten! Ive been going to them for years, always reliable, honest, good hardworking people and I respect their knowledge and training. Highly recommended!

My search for a good, reliable and trustworthy mechanic is over!!!!! Thoms four wheel drive and his crew went above and beyond my. Was dealing w/ wheel alignment issue. The team address the issue and I walked out a very happy person.

Had a slow leak in a tire. Fixed it for ~$45 within an hour or two of dropping it off. Drove home before I realized the valve cap was missing. Called them up and someone was able to come to my home and put the cap on. Very satisfied with the service.

I definitely rate Thom’s 5 stars! I took my Diesel truck and my car here for repairs, and they did an excellent job. They worked with me to help prioritize the repairs with what I could fit on my budget. Will use them again in the future!

Thom and Greg (and all the guys) are awesome! They were thorough and explained everything in detail. Took very good care of my 4runner and even stayed late to get the work done the same day!! These guys are fantastic! I found out about them a couple years ago and have been going there ever since. They replaced the full front axle and added lockers to my rear differential, before my last Jeep trip(Moab, Utah)everything is still running perfect. I can’t recommend them enough, excellent customer service, they go above and beyond. They even washed my Jeep before giving it back, I don’t even wash my Jeep.

We had our Jeep Grand Cherokee towed for a second time in 8 months. I should have had it towed to Thoms the first time. The shop scheduled a tow for me since I was at work (HUGE help!). Got everything diagnosed in ~30 mins and called me to confirm the next steps. They had the parts at their warehouse to make it easy and I had our car back in roughly 24 hours. Their quality of service and automotive knowledge is the best Ive seen in the city. I cant recommend them enough! They have a customer for life.

Happy to have a mechanic I can trust!Took my 2001 Jeep Cherokee here for an un-diagnosed MPG and noise issue that had stumped a different mechanic. With a brief description of the issue they had a guess at what the issue was and were correct: Camshaft position sensor and actuator assembly. Problem was fixed quickly, and my Jeeps performance is back to normal.They also noticed another issue that a previous mechanic had brought up (ball joint) and I was confident in the work Id get done here at this point.After all this they kindly humored me when I had a noise issue after getting my Jeep back (that I INCORRECTLY thought might be related to the work they had done). It was just a loose fan from shoddy work at a previous mechanic. The clips were replaced in 5 minutes and I was on my way. All work done with confidence and professionalism, as I stood there embarrassed at my oversight of an easy issue.I drive from the NW Suburbs to bring my Jeep to Thoms and I will continue to do so!

Had some work done on my Dodge Dakota that was out of my wheelhouse they gave me lots of options and other suggestions for improving it the future. But the truck rides a whole lot smoother now on the front end. Worth the cost.

I have a 06 Wrangler and have been driving it since 09. I cant remember it ever driving better than it does now.

Needed work on car: brakes, check engine, oil change, and odd rattle.They were able to take it in the day I called ( called in and dropped it off in morning). Did everything and said brakes were fine. Finished same day.They’ve done work on my Jeep also, maintence and small stuff.Always quick and professional.Will and have gone back several times.

There is a reason this place has five stars. The most honest, decent humans on earth. I brought my Jeep Wrangler to them last week with an engine oil cooler leak. Greg inspected it, called the dealer where I bought it and informed me that it might be covered under my CPO. He saved me almost $1,000 because it was covered by the dealer!! They could have easily lied and just fixed it but did the honest thing. BTW - they didn’t charge for the inspection to confirm the leak either. Great place.

I took in my Jeep Wrangler in for service on my exhaust and to have an inspection done. They did a thorough inspection of my Jeep and walked me through each line item of what they found. What I appreciated most, aside from their detailed explanations, was that they prioritized the work for me telling me what needs to be addressed immediately and what work can be done in later phases. I had a great experience at Thom’s and feel that they are trustworthy and very knowledgeable mechanics.

Though I didn’t expect a significant brake replacement, I did appreciate their thorough assessment of my SUV. After discussing the components 5 year usage I concluded it was necessary to proceed with an overhaul on all 4 breaks and apply new components.

I really appreciate the quality service we received and highly recommend Thoms Four Wheel. We had a problem with water leaking into the interior of our 2016 Nissan. We had grown frustrated with the incompetent (at best) technicians at Berman Nissan. The dealership techs concluded that our car had sprung leaks on two occasions within eight months from two unrelated causes. As a result, our car was soaked and we were looking at thousands of dollars in repairs. My wife and I smelled a rat and we took our car to Thoms Four Wheel for a second opinion. He showed us that the dealership techs were completely wrong. They had twice missed a factory flaw around the door seal that allowed water to pour in whenever it rained. They fixed the problem and kept us informed of every step. Now our car has been repaired properly and it remains bone dry. Thoms Four Wheel also carefully documented their findings and work with photos and video so that I could see that the problem was fixed for good (and I could try to obtain restitution). We will always return to Thoms Four Wheel for all our car servicing. You can trust the quality workmanship here! The quality and integrity of this company is the best.

My son was stranded nearby with a blown wheel bearing. These guys were great in arranging a tow and fixed his Ford Explorer in plenty of time for him to get back to work. They went far above the regular service and provided me with up to date information. I HIGHLY recommend them.

Really appreciate how thorough they are here; typically a shop just drains and fills oil and if you want them to check anything else you have to ask and hope they do it. The guys at Thoms always nod and smile when I ask, and then when we pick up the car they also point out a bunch of little things that I didnt think about. Also very accommodating on scheduling and timing. Lastly Id heard they were expensive but compared to other shops theyve been same/lower every time. Even if they were more money it would still be a good value for the attention to detail and trust you get here.

Ive been coming to Thoms for almost two years now. I started there with a Jeep Wrangler and my husband has a Chevrolet Truck. Thoms has done successful work on both of them. Recently, we sold the Jeep and bought a Subaru. The Subaru was from a used dealership and needed some work. It was a relief to know after Thom and Greg looked at it, that I had people who I could trust do what needed to be done.It can be expensive. But, they say you get what you pay for and if the people working on my car are honest workers, then I dont mind having them be paid a higher amount for it.

As an owner of a 1999 Corolla with 280,000 miles on the odometer, I have been to many different mechanics. Over the years I have had every repair done to this car. Last week I was fortunate enough to find Thoms. I asked them to do an inspection and see what it would take to keep my car running safely. They kept my car for two days and went over it scrupulously. The verdict was not good for my car, but I was impressed with the detailed analysis of what the car would need, and with the fact that after all that labor, Thoms refused to accept any money from me because, we dont normally charge for inspections.I feel very fortunate to have found Thoms auto repair. He could have done just part of the work, charged me a lot of money, and not left me with any options, but instead he did the ethical thing.

Clean looking place with minimal concern for their customers.Called previous day and explained that I needed to have vehicle looked at and I could not leave it. She said, no problem, if your here at 8am well have a mechanic unsorted itI arrived @7:50am, THE slightly arrogant receptionist guy says that theyll look at it as soon as one of the guys finishes.4 hours later its 12pm and they still had not looked at my vehicle.Waisted over 4hour of my day in the waiting room.They had No remorse what so ever.If thats the way they treat their customers, I would hate to see how they would neglect our vehicles.DO NOT RECOMMEND.WILL NEVER GO There AGAIN.

Take it from a Jeep Owner of over 25 years: the only place to take your Jeep is Thoms.

Helpful staff and took time to call myself and husband each to explain the issues. They are walkable distance from the blue line train. Just sad I had a lot to fix on my car and costly to repair. My father in law who works on cars in Michigan said the prices here were comparable to Michigan. Which is good considering everything is over priced usually in the city.

I never feel as if I’m being pressured into unnecessary repairs—in fact, they are always transparent about what needs to be done right away, what can wait, and what’s optional. At the front desk, Jennifer is super friendly and an integral part of the team. Their services are in demand and they are consistently booked up, so you might wait a few days for an appointment, but it’s worth it.

Generally a great experience here as they normally are honest and thorough. Had an issue getting my vehicle done the day I brought it in. While I was apologized to for it not being completed, having to lose a second day of work and not being compensated in the slightest with almost $1000 of work being done isn’t what I expect from anyone.
