They were able to repair the main issue, but more important, identified the causes that created my problem in the first place and took care of those as well so the problem does not re-occur. I called Chicago Heating Repair when our heater went out in the early evening. Kevin was the tech who responded. After more than 45 minutes of trying to diagnose the problem he decided that it was a faulty thermostat. I raised an issue with that stating that the Ecobee thermostat we had was only a year old and had been professionally installed. I offered him the original thermostat to replace the Ecobee but he insisted he couldnt install it do to warranty concerns. Out of desperation and it being 20 degrees outside I let him install this new thermostat at a cost of $379. I had AirBnB guests staying in the unit so I had no choice but to get it fixed immediately.Before we had a chance to test all the functionality of the thermostat he was racing out the door - the heat was on so I assumed it was working. It actually wasnt fixed and the fan ran all night. The next day when I called Kevin he was very defensive and combative over the phone and refused to honor the warrantee he promised on the new thermostat. Instead telling me I need a new circuit board ($795) and a new transformer ($295).3 minutes of googling and a 10 minute youTube video later I was able to accurately diagnose the problem myself. The thermostat wire was faulty. $6 worth or wire later from home depot and my system was working perfectly again - except for the air conditioning unit which he had disconnected and blaming part of the problem on.In the end they didnt honor any warrantee they promised and I had to eat $379 for nothing. Definitely would NEVER use this company again!

I just had my humidifier fixed, which broke due to a faulty hose. Sergey came to replace and was very helpful when I asked if he could try and come sooner than our scheduled appointment. Upon arrival, he was able to quickly fix the issue and further provided a lot of information about basic humidifier and furnace maintenance. If you want good service from a company that knows what they are doing, this is a good place to look. The rates are not cheap, but the service is can be trusted.

They do not service the south side of Chicago which is not a coincidence that the majority of the population is Black in those areas. It is not based on distance as this company is located in Chicago and they service areas in Dupage county which are 30-40 miles away. I guess all the great service that was spoken of in the reviews are for Caucasian neighborhoods only.

The day before Thanksgiving...furnace is malfunctioning...isnt that always the case? Sergey and his coworker (Im so sorry I forgot your name!) were great! Called at 1:30 and they were here 3 hours later. They agreed to come on two hours notice and showed up 30-45 minutes late. They came well prepared - they didnt know what was wrong with our AC when we called, but they had the part that needed to be replaced. They stayed about an hour in total - fixing the system, testing to make sure it worked, and explaining how to improve performance and do basic maintenance.

Very responsive to our.call after gas company noted a dangerous problem with our furnace. The technicians were very competent and friendly. They estimated how long the repair would take and when it took less time the head technician lowered the bill. We were pleased with the quality of the work and the concern expressed by the workers. Do your homework before you agree!!!I always feel its best to go local because the people are honest and hardworking. This was the worst local experience i have ever had!Kevin (the owner) arrived late the first day due to traffic. He did not find anything wrong with the unit and said if it did not work again he would come again to inspect the unit for free. Fast forward 2 day and we were still out of heat.Kevin was scheduled to come in the afternoon but 2 hours prior to the appointment he cancelled. I took a day off from work for a no show appointment and my heater was still not working.Kevin agreed to come in 2 days at 5.pm. when that day came he showed up at 6.30pm and wanted to bill us the late evening fee, which was only a result of his tardiness. I reminded him that he said this service would be free but he told my husband and I that he worded it incorrectly and still billed us.You would think that by this time I learned my lesson. At this point I had invested $180.00 and still had no heater. He found the issue in what seemed to be 5 seconds and said he would return. 2 Days later he arrived with the part and fixed it. This was over $250. But it was working and I was glad I no longer had to deal with no heat and disappointments. He did not give us a discount for coming late or the free visit as promised even after i reminded him. he did tell us that we could get a 20usd discount if we posted a postive review in front of him. which we did but only for the discount and then removed it as soon as he left.After he left i googled and called a few companies and asked for a quote for the job he had done. Needless to say we were ripped off.Worst local experience ever!

I called this company when I had an issue with my A/C. Sergey came out and explained to me that I had $500+ worth of repairs. He explained to me that he can get it repaired right away, and was trying to get me to approve of the charges that night (he even had me listen to the squeaking sound it was making while his partner was on the roof, I was never actually on the roof). I explained I wanted to review because it may be worth it to replace the entire A/C unit. After that he explained that it needed to get replaced because the motor is actually out and it will cost between $2600-$3600. I paid the $89 service charge, and $40 ladder fee for roof access (this is supposedly standard, but he said it didnt matter because it will just go towards the repair charges). Since he first said it needed repaired, then needed to be replaced after I said I may want to do that, I went for a second option. Turns out it only needed a little bit of refrigerant added, and it never made a squeaking sound ($50). The repair guy saw that the circuit breaker contacts were adjusted, so the A/C would not have been able to run unless someone familiar with the appliance would be able to start it up again. If he didnt do that, it would have worked after Sergey left. Dont even call them for an estimate because theyll charge you $129 and give you a dishonest assessment. I saved myself well over $500 just by calling someone else! If youre going to use them, I highly recommend getting a second opinion if the repair is over $100.

They came same day and diagnosed the problem, which was great. Although they were a subcontractor that was from a different company. The repair man tired to convince my wife to buy a brand new $5500 furnace (ours is 8 years old), get a vent cleaning (unnecessary per other repair services I called), and charged 25% more for the necessary repair than the company we went with. They called my wife back the next day still trying to convince her to buy a new furnace. And when she said that she wanted to talk to me to make a decision, their response was, You cant make decisions by yourself?All anyone wants from a repair service is honesty and to feel like they arent being ripped off. I can say they failed on both accounts.

My water heater broke down because of flooding in my basement. I called Chicago Heating Repair because they were close by and seemed reputable. I was wrong. I scheduled on August 18th and they gave me the option to do mornings or afternoons the very next day. I said mornings, they said expect them between 10am-12pm and that the serviceman would call me 20 minutes ahead to time to let me know of he was on his way. I called at 11:45 because I hadnt heard from them, they told me expect a call within 15-20 minutes as theyre serviceman was just finishing up a job. 45 minutes later...nothing. I called again, they said they were sorry and that wed receive a call within 5 minutes. 15 minutes later...still no call. This is totally rude and unprofessional. If your company is overwhelmed with business then dont lie and say you can handle a call. I ended up having to make other calls in the hopes some other company can fix my issue. Thanks for wasting most of my day off, your worse than waiting for a cable company to show.

When my A/C stopped working at 10pm Saturday night, on Labor Day weekend, I called around to see who I could get out ASAP. Everyone that advertises 24/7 emergency service either didnt answer their phone, or told me that they couldnt come out until the next day. Then I found Chicago Heating Repair. They showed up at 11pm, diagnosed the problem, and quickly repaired the compressor. They had all necessary tools and parts with them. During the repair, Sergei walked me through what they were doing and why they were doing it. Despite the fact that the unit was 30 years old, they had it up and running like new within an hour. The price was reasonable, and Sergei told me that if and when the unit finally dies, he will credit me half of the service call paid toward the purchase of a new unit. Moving forward, Chicago Heating Repair will be getting all of my business.

Were very happy with our experience with Chicago Heating Repair. They were able to make a service call to our apartment almost immediately. We scheduled for the following day and had an actual appointment time -- not a 4 hours time slot when someone would drop by. Sergey, our repairman, was courteous enough to give us a call to say he was a little late from traffic. When he came, he was very professional and explained everything to us so we could understand exactly what he was doing and what needed to be fixed. He went out of his way to clean around our heating area to remove excess dust that was causing part of the problem - as well as replacing the necessary parts on the spot. When he noticed some other problems, he informed us of the issues and did not try to sell us on having the issues fixed immediately.Turns out we have a few more problems with our heating system that need repair and we fully intend to have this company back to fix them. I was looking for a cost estimate to give to our lawyers for some small repairs during the closing on our home and after calling around a few places and being treated very rudely over the phone, I came across Chicago Heating Repair. Kevin was so nice and helpful on the phone that I called them again after we closed to do the repair. Sergey showed up promptly with his assistant and thoroughly assessed the situation. He explained all of the problems clearly and gave useful cost saving suggestions on how to keep our HVAC system running smoothly. The total cost was less that what the other companies were proposing and Sergey left with the area cleaner than when he arrived. I will definitely use them again and will highly recommend them if you are looking for professional, trustworthy, and friendly service.

They were able to come out to my house the same day I called and the repairman seemed knowledgable. However, the problem was traced to two loose wires. The initial estimate included a lot of work I had not asked for and was over $500. It also failed to provide a credit for the service call fee which I had been told would be credited against work done. The second estimate was down to $370 but included double billing and only a 50% credit for the service call fee. Finally, they gave full credit and removed the double billing - making my take away $200. They did find the problem and they were able to correct it but their billing practices left me feeling like I was being taken advantage.

Hello. There are few things about this company, which was represented by Steve. Seems like he is the only one over there, even though he claims they have guys. Company registered to a residential unit on 4600 n cumberland ave in Chicago, IL, so there is no real office. There is only one phone # which he barely answers. I have tried to call him about 20 times from 4 different phone numbers between 10am and 6pm, left a text message and a voicemail. Absolutely no response. There is one Yelp review, where lady describing the same behavior. Seems like he doesnt have a proper work ethics and customer service is really at 0 on a scale from 0 to 10. The problem occurred 3 weeks after he installed my AC coil. Drain wasnt properly installed so it started leaking slowly but surely. It didnt take long before i got my living room flooded, about 30% of it. Contacted Steve, told him what happened, he made a promise to be at my place between 4 and 5pm. I had to leave my work early so i could meet him and, of course, he was a no show. My living room is still flooded, drain isnt fixed, thats the result of a negligence on his side. Everything is documented, took video and pictures as well. I am planning to sue this guy. Please, think twice before using services of this company.

If I could give it 0 stars I would. We had an emergency issue with one of our properties late at night. The operator who took the information got confused because we gave him a few back up numbers to reach someone at the property in case the primary contact didnt pick up. Mind you we gave him a different number from where we called from because we wouldnt be on site .All we wanted to make sure they had no issue getting to the furnace at the property. He was obviously frustrated and stated you know what just take your business else where before he even paged a technician to help us. I couldnt believe it. I thought business like these were here to help the consumer and on our end we were not at all trying not to confuse the operator but make sure that when a technician went out there was absolutely no issue seeing the furnace. Absolutely horrible customer service

He did not give up until he found the problem and although he recommended a new furnace he also recommended how to repair our current furnace which was more cost efficient for us. I really appreciated that he had suggestions rather than saying Oh you need a new one. Sergey ordered the part we needed and came out right away to install. They were flexible with their appointments and always within the time window they gave us (never more than a 4 hour window). My 9 year old water heater needed to be replaced. Sergey came out around 1 pm to give me a quote (which was $400 less than the competitors) and came back around 6 pm to do the install. Sergey was very nice and friendly (as was .. Scott?), and they seemed to do a good job on the install. They were able to take the old water heater out of the tiny closet area with virtually no damage to the drywall.The only annoyance was that I was unclear on when the install was going to happen. When Sergey was over in the early afternoon, he said the guys would be back later that day to do the install. I assumed that meant during business hours and I was under the impression that there would be different guys doing the install. I tried to call the office around 330-345 to get clarification on the time, but I got sent to an answering service that could not provide any details. However, Sergey came back the same day and performed the install and they did not get out until around 8 pm.All things considered, I am happy with the experience and will definitely consider using them in the future.

These guys saved our asses during the polar vortex. After three different companies failed to get our boiler working (charging a couple grand between them for the privilege), Sergey at CHR identified the problem immediately, ordered the necessary parts, and got us up and running in no time.On top of that hes come by a couple times since, at no charge, to tweak the factory settings and give us the water temperature we want.I cant speak to other boiler systems, but if you have a tankless, these guys are the only experts in Chicago I found.

Sergey was able to come out within hours of the call and actually called me back to say they could come even earlier than we scheduled. As technicians, they were prompt, clean and courteous. They checked and double-checked their work. Like a good teacher, Sergey walked me thru his diagnosis clearly showing me where the problems were and how to fix them. All the charges were clearly itemized and explained. After discovering our humidifier was also broken and needed a new pad, I told him that I would like to try and repair it myself. Rather than rush off to his next call, Sergey literally spent 15-20 extra minutes with me to walk thru step by step how to do the repair myself. He was also so nice to offer I just call him if I had any problems and save myself another visit or service call. You just dont find this kind of excellent service anymore!
