I’ve used them twice, both times there wasn’t much communication. The first time the tow was set up by the auto body shop. The shop called me and asked if I was home with the keys so that I could have my disabled car towed from my home. I was not home with the car but told them I would go home to meet the driver. I was assured the tow company would be there within an hour. I went home for no reason because they did not show up until the next day at a random time and only called me once they were outside; no prior indication that they would be arriving soon.This didn’t bother me so much, and I needed to get my car from the shop now over to a dealership for a recall fix. Being that the dealership stated they frequently use this service, I booked them again. I called on a Friday, gave payment info, and heard nothing all weekend, called on the following Monday morning to see what was the story, and I was assured my car was assigned to someone. Monday came and went. Tuesday I called and was assured someone was assigned my car, and that I would receive a call once they got to my car or once it was dropped off. I received nothing but an alert from my bank that my information was processed and charged for the tow. I had to call around to see if my car was picked up and that’s a unacceptable. If I’m hiring someone for services, no matter how big or small I expect communication. If you’re too busy to accept a job, say that. My tow situation involved an auto insurance claim, and a rental car. Everyday I sat waiting for them to fulfill the service request was an extra day of rental allowance dwindling. The only reason I didn’t book someone else is that every time I called I was assured someone was assigned. They get 3 stars because SOME of their staff has a positive attitude and my car was at least transported safely despite their lack of communication.

Writing this review partly out of thankfulness for anyone still finding dignity in showing up to work, earning an honest wage, as apparently it’s super cool these days to take free money to not work, leaving the rest of society hanging. -And partly because hardworking folks who carry the extra burden especially deserve the credit where it’s due.I have the free towing with AAA, but Dale Old is always first choice, and worth every penny out of pocket. -Mainly due to his experience and decades long dedication to helping the public. Knowing the amount of hard work and sacrifice that goes into such a business, and to keep it going all these years is such an incredible endeavor, he deserves the business and a considerate, positive review. And the staff I have ever interacted with have a great, can do attitude and have been a blessing as well. (Thank you Tammy and Chris! -for going the extra mile...literally, to help me.) Besides firsthand personal experience, had dealt with probably all of his drivers when working at a garage over the last year, all a consistently higher standard than you would expect from a towing service.Out running errands on Tuesday and my car wouldn’t start when leaving Tractor Supply. Terrible timing in every way. Due to the urgency to get back home, I had calls in to both Dale’s and AAA, both with hours long wait times; Dale’s arrived in record time, even compared to full staff circumstances on a slow day. Really was anticipating to be there waiting another two to three hours at least. Not typically an issue, could have waited patiently all day, but was stressing about getting back to tend to livestock with the high heat. With minimal drivers working, and given Tidewater traffic and their heavy call log, they made it in amazing time. Huge relief when Chris called to say he was on the way, totally unexpected. He refused to let me back my car out for him to load it onto the rollback, and listened to my gabbing with a sincere smile all the way home. Full professional service and a great sport. Even helped quickly unload my supplies. Tammy was friendly and helpful on the phone and through e-Mail throughout the wait. The most pleasant experience dealing with a car issue ever.Thank you Dale Old for building such a blessing of a company to carry the burden for the rest of us. Tried to charge me 350$ to get my own personal belongings out of my car. Even though its completely illegal to do that in the state of VA.

They were professional and polite! I called other towing companies and got an unprofessional attitude or no return call. I will use them again if needed.

Not 24 hours at all! Called for a tow on Sunday night at 11:00 and was told he wouldnt do it to call another company. Ive used them several times in the past (and recommend them) and was always very pleased with their service, but after the RUDE response tonight I will never be using or recommending them again!

Was referred by Alcon Automotives, my car had been sitting for awhile and needed some repairs . Called Dale and scheduled a towing, less than 30-45 mins later they were at my house and hooking up . There value is good but the lady’s that answer the phones seem angry. They also left me hanging for two days said they would be there then not show up. I had to call another company. I wish they would give people notice if they are not able to pick up equipment. I have employees waiting on the job sucking money out of my pocket doing absolutely nothing.

Oldes picked my truck up for me and towed to the garage and accepted payment over the phone when I was out of town. They even took the face off my stereo for me. The woman on the phone was fast, professional, and courteous. I was more than satisfied.

Last weekend, while eating at Chesapeake Pizza (on a rainy/messy night), my family noticed an elderly veteran standing on the side of Battlefield Blvd. His car ended up in a ditch across the street from where we were eating. As a tow truck arrived we were quickly impressed by how the driver maneuvered the car from the ditch and got it safely on the bed of the truck during rush hour. After the car was carefully rescued the tow truck driver made a point to get the elderly man safely in the truck as well. We were so impressed by how the driver took such great care of the car and the man. Just from observing this particular situation, I would highly recommend this company. Not only did he take great care of the car, he cared about his costumer and it showed! I think we can all appreciate the kindness this man showed on a cruddy night of work.

I’ve used Dale Old Wrecker service before and they were great, that’s the only reason this is 2 stars and not 1. I Tried calling them today to use them again, and their receptionist was the rudest I have ever encountered. I Ended up using Hickory towing instead, and they were fantastic. Save your time and call people that actually want to help you

I was in a car accident, totalled my car. It landed on its roof. There were Christmas presents everywhere. I went to the hospital by ambulance. The tow truck driver made sure to pick everything up. The next day when we called to see if we could come get what I could out of the car they were so nice. They asked how I was doing. They told me the driver was so worried and would be relieved I was okay. When we got there they were so nice to deal with. The lady at the front was so caring. Thank you guys for being such a dream to work with at such a hard time!

Unprofessional, the man who came and got my car only had smart things to say and tell me everything i had done wrong with the car as where it was parked like i could ya know re-park a car that won’t start. THEN on top took the money out my wallet. Called to inform them about the money missing and the lady got an attitude with me about one of her workers being a thief. Definitely do not recommend. Do not trust and will not use again.

Dont use this company! I called for a tow at 10am and canceled at 330pm. The operator said police take precedence. Guess they dont have time for the little guy. Even with follow up phone calls they couldnt even give me an estimated time.

This place treated us very poorly. They didnt release the vehicle to us within 24h and charge us for more storage and admin fees. The will hear from our lawyer soon!

Felix came upon my accident on 12/26 (which was my fault) and was so kind! I am still blown away by his generosity and kindness. He of course was professional and really stepped in when things were getting unnecessarily hot between the other driver and his (awful) tow truck driver (metro). Im so appreciate of his cool head and honest desire to help. Thank you FELIX! I hope I never need a tow again but if I do, Im calling Dale Old and asking for you.

Rude staff answering the phone acting like your phone call is an inconvenience to them. Zero status updates on ETA of tow (broken down transmission). Called to check on status 2 hours later and am told busy day, 70+ requests infront of you, will get to you when we get to you. Meanwhile I missed my appointment time at the GMC dealership to have the car diagnosed, rental car is pending their findings of my transmission issue. Small business owner who is a sitting duck without access to a vehicle with kids to pick up from school in an hour. No thanks Dale Old - will happily take my business to where its not an inconvenience

BEWARE- Recommended this company to a friend only because there CHEAP, well Cheap gets you a driver that will destroy your car and after speaking to Dale Olds he could care less, he’s rude and as Unprofessional as they come and as another unhappy customer reviewed its not his problem its the owners problem that he hires guys they are unqualified and as unprofessional as he is. It’s worth doing your research, FYI Dale Olds you work for us, not the other way around.

Called to have them move my truck a few months ago. After the driver was informed the top on the truck was not secured, he decided to leave anyways with an unsecured load. This resulted in the top being dropped in the middle of Princess Anne Rd. Lucky no one was hurt, but the company will not talk to me to resolve my personal losses. The driver told the dispatcher that the was told the top was secure. I have documentation signed by the driver stating otherwise. I dont really want to file a lawsuit. Due to unprofessional company environment, I see no other line of recourse. I have called three times to work this out, they get me off the phone and dont call back.If you use there service and there is a problem, you will quickly learn it is your problem, not theirs. Truely hope they dont really hurt someone with their negligent and poor business practices. Use at your own risk, literally.

Dale Old owes me thousands of dollars because of a collision that happened a year ago. I am a college student with very little income. After using a $3000 student loan for damages by his company, I still have not been repaid.

Super friendly and came to meet us on a Sunday night in the middle of nowhere. We only knocked off one star for the wait. If we get into a pickle in this area again, we will call on this company.

HORRIBLE customer service! I called early in the morning and scheduled a tow for 3pm that day. They called close to the scheduled time and cancelled the tow. Ok, I can understand unforeseen circumstances may arise. At that time, I had scheduled another tow for the following day at 8 in the morning. The driver did not show up at the scheduled time. At 8:15 I made a call to their dispatcher (extremely rude woman) and she said the driver was in route. At 8:30, still no sign of the driver, I made another call and she said the tow had been cancelled (no explanation as to why). What a complete waste of my time! I would not recommend their business to anyone.

Called on Sunday at 230 told would be there in 20 mins.1 hour later no word from dispatch.then called told they are on the way.then called 3 hours later to tell me they didnt want to come back to va beach. To get me off the side of the road.will never do business with this shady company again.glad it only took 20 mins to get to me a better tow company to get to me.

On my way home from work last week. I drive route 17 North headed from Chesapeaketo Carrollton. Coming through Suffolk lanes merge a few times. One of Dale Olds tow trucks comes barreling behind me, passing me on the right, cutting me off and almost running me off the road and into the lane with head on traffic. I laid on my horn and he laughed. I got the license plate number and I called the company for two days after the incident. Dale Old has not returned my phone call. Some kinda business hes running.

Thieves. Very unprofessional towing service. Ive attached pictures of where I was parked when my car was towed. Special events are occurring in Norfolk this weekend, but the special hours of no parking are to be enforced today (Saturday), not last night (Friday). The tow truck driver would not speak to me. This company evidently thrives by wrongfully towing unsuspecting peoples vehicles.

Saw a driver of this company on 64. We were behind him for 5 miles. In that time he almost caused 6 accidents he was swerving so horribly while towing someone’s car. When we finally passed him the car was so full of smoke I couldn’t see his face.

I waited for more than 3 hours for someone to come and unlock my vehicle. I was first told 50 to 60 minutes. When the person arrived 3.5 hours later. He approached me while smoking a cigarette. I will never use this company again.
