I had the opportunity...nae, the pleasure to visit this beautiful community Beacon on 5th. I used the gym and pool, just a few of the great amenities offered here. Both were better than expected. The best thing about my visit was interacting with the energetic beautiful staff that is Beacon. All very welcoming and full of information about the community and surrounding areas. The way they interacted with current residents proved to me they have correctly created a positive culture for both work and living.Great job to the powers in charge.

Rachel was great to work with she was made for the customer service business. She was consistent and very transparent the entire process. It seems this community stay pretty full through the year and now I know why. I’m happy that I can call this place home.. I’m ready to be by the pool grilling with my friends and family. And they have a trail that’s easy to commute to UVA health, this was a MAJOR selling point!

I was planning on relocating to the area and Rachel gave me an in person tour of the complex. She’s absolutely amazing with explaining all of your options and easily available. The whole leasing office was extremely nice and very responsive and knowledgeable about all of my questions. The property is beautiful and has modern appliances and other features. Also, it’s very close to grocery stores and downtown. Some units get awesome sunset views over the mountains too. It’s a very quiet area and has trails around the property. 10/10 would recommend!

Honestly beacon is the most beautiful complex in Charlottesville with the best views. Located within minutes of everything you need. And the property manager is one of the nicest and most professional and knowledgeable persons I’ve met in the 13 years that I’ve been an adult and renting!!!

Awesome layout and very conveniently located. Decent entry-level ‘luxury’ apartments, can’t wait to use the gym when it opens. Wasn’t happy with some of the move in rules they had, but the staff worked with me and my needs to make it happen. I’d still recommend to others.

I love the beacon on 5th! I was in talks with Rachel for several months about apts, avail, prices, any questions or concerns I had prior to moving across the country to Va. The beacon gave such quick responses for anything questions I had via email, or phone. When I came in person to see the place it was everything like the photos. Everything looks brand new, well maintained and the people in this community are soooooo nice. Rachel and Skye have been so helpful during my transition. I even had a last min emergency come up when I have sending my car over and it would get there before me. The ladies said no problem we will accept the delivery! The community is very dog friendly. The beacon welcomed me with open arms and I can’t image being anywhere else. So glad I picked this complex! Also super close to worK (UVA) the trail behind the complex is a straight shot to the hospital.

Absolutely the worst apartment complex I have ever lived in. Our washer drier was broken for a MONTH before it was replaced. Only when we complained and wanted a rebated rent did we immediately get help. Front staff was friendly but management was extremely lacking. Surprised theyre still in business

These look very nice on the outside and inside, unfortunately once you move in you find that appliances, flooring, cabinets are cheaply made. If the rent was less expensive I think these would be a great value. There are also many minor fees that add up, like paying $12 per month to take your trash to the dumpster. It seems that once you move it you are surprised by fees like this as they are hidden in the 25 page lease. I think if Beacon was a little more transparent people might not be as upset about this. Staff are all very caring, which made living there enjoyable, but when help was needed for leaks, apartment trouble, etc my work orders were not responded to for extended periods.

Great place to live and pretty close to all the popular spots in Charlottesville. In general it is pretty quiet and very clean. My only two gripes are the quality of materials used on the inside (cabinets, flooring, bathtub) and the long list of rules and regulations in the lease. Otherwise pretty good value and excellent location.

I was one of the first to move into this complex when it opened. Since day one the indoor and outdoor staff have been friendly and attentive. The complex is great with awesome pool, grilling, and fitness areas. Tammy is always helpful when I go to the office for any reason. Brian and Jermaine are really friendly, always work with me and my schedule whenever I needed anything done in my apartment, and they did great work. Great place to live. Apartments and amenities are beautiful. Loved the pool and grills. They even have free coffee in the computer lounge with free printing. Staff is very nice and helpful. Brian is great! The gym is pretty well stocked but the weight lifting area is very small. If 3 or more people are in there it gets very tight.4 stars instead of 5 for 2 reasons:1. You pay all this money to have a pet including a $400+ initial deposit (turns out it is a fee) plus a monthly fee but if you have minor damages due to pet, all that money you paid wont cover it. So you are literally paying for your pet to exist and thats it. HIGHWAY ROBBERY.2. Rent increased by $100 after living there for one year. Already a bit pricey, and they had construction with inconveniences for most of this first year.I decided to buy a condo for $200/month less than what Beacon is charging and I can at least build equity that way in just as nice of a place with similar amenities.

Moving internationally from half way across the world is extremely difficult. I was after my first one bed room apartment, which I thought would prove difficult. Tammy and Brianne made this process extremely smooth and easy. Their communication is fast and extremely informative, while being friendly and understanding. Out of all the international renting companies that I have encountered the hospitality, community feel, and service of Beacon ranks at the top of my list. Highly recommend. Absolute legends!

We have been living at Beacon on 5th for about three months now and couldn’t be happier with the experience. The staff are so welcoming, responsive, and truly care about making this a wonderful place to live. Maintenance requests are responded to very quickly. I used to love this place but the kids from other neighborhoods have taken over the pool area and the managers could care less. It’s 930 and yet again the kids are screaming. Oh, the pool is green and nasty as well. Go somewhere else where the place actually cares about the tenants and are not afraid to do their jobs.

I hit a deer with my car on the way to work Monday and my car got pretty messed up. I attempted to put some of the wreckage back together, but I only had a screw driver, a hammer, and literally no idea what I was doing. I decided to walk down to the front desk and ask for tools to maybe try put a piece back together. Instead of just giving me the tools, Cleveland, one of the maintenance guys of Beacon assessed the issue, got the right tools, and did most of the assembly as well. Feeling indebted, I asked Cleveland what kind of food or beverage he liked, and he just said dont worry about it man. We need more people like Cleveland in this world, and I am glad I can count on him for help here at Beacon. The apartments and facilities are also very nice.

Have had a great time living here thus far. A fantastic place to live! Nice and quiet and a young professional crowd. All of the employees respond very quickly to anything that doesnt work. Fixed my washing machine immediately and gave me access to another one when mine did not work.Only reason Im changing from five stars to four stars is that we were told at lease signing we would have access to the computer lounge and printing area starting at 6am until 2am. But the management has limited access to the area from approx. 9 am to 10pm.That has been frustrating for me a couple mornings when I needed to print or use the computer lounge.

New to the area, want to get more information on the apartments. First I called and spoke with a lady name Tammy, she was very dry. sound like she just woke up. So I stop in the leasing office and it was not a warm welcome at all. Seem to have new staff that seem to be clueless. Ask questions about the different apartments and town homes they had available. So Desiree, showed me a townhouse an apartments. that she act as if she knew when it would be available the exact prices. Very clueless wasnt friendly. The apartment building they showed me it was trash by apartment doors. Grass look like it was not cut in weeks. Which I knew from there this was not the place for me. If you looking for not friendly people in leasing office dressed like they going to night club and apartments with trash piled up by the door then this may be the place for you.

We have lived here for a year now and have been very happy with our choice. Not only is the apartment community safe and friendly, but we love the convenient location within Charlottesville. I would highly recommend this location, particularly if you work at the university or in the immediate area.

Not worth it, the complex is extremely unprofessional and will rip you off any way they can. Parking is a nightmare, and your car will get beat up; the walls are fragile, and we could hear our neighbor clear her throat or caught through the walls. I’d recommend Avemore as that is where we stayed seven of the 13 months of our lease. Once you move out, they will bill you for a new apartment primarily and refuse to discuss it with you and trying to reach corporate is even worse. Avoid a headache and save yourself the trouble!

Ultimately, this is not worth what you pay.Pros: Its brand new with all new appliances, I liked the small touches like the crown molding and ceiling fans. Having a full size washer/dryer was a huge plus. The gym/pool are both really nice and well maintained. The deck was nice and my particular unit had a great view (definitely one of the best views of the entire place). The maintenance and leasing office people are very nice and responsive. It felt relatively safe and I didnt have any problems with noise or bad neighbors. The location was great, being close to the new Wegmans shopping center, I64, and the downtown mall.Cons: Ugh, the trash. There is literally one trash compactor for the entire place with 5 large apartment buildings and tons of townhomes. I had to drive my trash to the compactor, and found myself often in a line of cars doing the same thing. There is no option for recycling. The compactor would fill up and then people would be stacking their trash around the compactor until it was picked up. I was charged $12/mo for this. Which brings us to fees. The pet rent was too high, and this is after a very large one time pet deposit. There was also a water fee. I had almost $150 added to my rent each month after all the various fees. The parking was terrible. They changed the rules a few times and there were never really obvious spots for guests. I would work long shifts and when I came home there were never any spots anywhere close to my building. I lived on the top floor and the breezeway was constantly damaged because of water with leaks in the ceiling, and then there was a huge ant problem even on the third floor. I didnt have a dog, but for being pet friendly there were only two dog disposal stations, one of which was literally RIGHT NEXT to the trash compactor, which whats the point in that? Then there was a dog park which was a joke, it was so small. So, it was nice and there were nice things about it, but for that price, I wouldnt expect all the inconveniences it came with, which is why I left.

I cannot begin to express in words how happy I am with this community. I moved from Columbia, SC and the community that I resided there was not accommodating at all. Things were constantly breaking and the staff were not very friendly. However, I can say this particular community is the complete opposite. From the time that I stepped in the door when I was doing my apartment search all the way to move-in, I have been welcomed with smiles and understanding attitudes. Move-in day was very hectic for me, but the staff members at this particular community were so understanding. They stayed after hours just so that I could receive my keys to avoid the inconvenience of having to stay in a hotel that evening. Not every community will do this! Besides the wonderful staff and although the community is still under construction, the community is beautiful. There is a salt water pool with plenty of seating and entertainment. They have a state of the art gym, which I have already taken advantage of. The leasing office looks like it came out of a page in a interior design magazine. It is close to shopping centers, downtown and UVA! Last but not least, my apartment is fully updated and very spacious. I believe as renters, it is very easy to be able to look at the aesthetics of the community youre looking for. However, I can personally attest that the friendly culture of the managerial staff is what has completely sold me. God bless them for their friendly demeanors. Come and see and experience this place for yourself! --Signed a happy resident

I moved into my apartment the first day it was available. It is spacious and has a beautiful view of Charlottesville! I love my mirrored closets, porch, and of course the washer and dryer. The staff is always friendly and maintenance responds quickly. You are given ample notice of any construction or routine maintenance visits. It is also so close to downtown and the recently finished 5th street station which is wonderful for food, groceries, and shopping. I love it here and wish I didnt have to leave. Will be my first choice if I ever make it back to Charlottesville!

We are living here now, however cable and internet services are unavailable. Which is tough since my wife is a consultant and works from home. If the units are not complete why am I paying rent? Management blames Comcast, Comcast blames the construction company, no one has solutions.Lots of construction still on-going.The maintenance staff are professinal and friendly. Brian is great! Very focused and solution oriented. Seeks results. Goes above and beyond.Overall its a good apartment with tons of BS and headaches so far.

BEWARE!!! I signed my lease several months ago when there was different management and I was extremely excited about living in this new community. I was also especially impressed by Will because he was so attentive and enthusiastic. However, when I moved in, I was disheartened to find out that Will was no longer working here and instead there was different management. I soon saw that most of the units in my building were incomplete and several things in my apartment seemed to have been put together in a hurry. For example, the balcony had splintering wood, my shower head was loose, there was still tape on the outlets and on the balcony. The place was full of bugs including a cockroach. There is loud ongoing construction with copious amounts of red dirt at the entrances that is being tracked into the units. The worst part is that the unit was not move in ready as the building had not been released as ready for internet and cable. For me, as a physician it is imperative that I have internet access as I have patient care duties at night which require me to access medical records via the Internet to make management decisions for my patients. When I expressed this to management, they suggested that every time I get a call about patient care, I should go to the club house for internet in order to address it. This is completely not feasible and I will likely have to stay at the hospital to ensure timely patient care. It now looks like we will not have internet for a month after move in despite efforts to set it up though Comcast and the building management several weeks before the move in date. Had I known that this would be the case, I would have gladly stayed in a hotel until the unit was ready but now, I am already being charged the full rent. This has been the worst move in experience I have had and if I could go back in time, I would not chose to live here again. Please think twice (or maybe thrice) before signing a lease here.
