Do not go to this place. They picked my mower up for a weekend did not do anything to it, said they couldn’t find a problem and charged me $112.00. Took it to another repair shop, they changed the oil and spark plugs for $70.00. Runs smooth as butter now. The lady on the phone told me I didn’t tell her the exact issues with the mower. This really felt like a stick up job.

I have used Southwest Lawn Equipment previously to get my Troy-Bilt tiller working. They fixed it at a reasonable price.I had a cultivator that wouldnt start because the pull rope couldnt be pulled. It was as though the engine was locked up. So I took my cultivator there 1 month ago, paid the $35 diagnostic fee. A few days later they called and said that the cost to fix it may be more than the machine is worth. They offered to dispose of the machine or I could come pick it up. I had my wife pick it up and bring it home. Two weeks later I decided to tinker with it and in one hour I had the machine running and didnt spend any additional money on it. Southwest had lost my business which sucks because theyre only 2 miles away.

I wont go anywhere again to get my yard equipment. My old chainsaw finally went out on me so I went to go buy a new one and was going to buy one of the larger saws they had. Thev guy asked me what I needed it for he told me that the larger saw was overkill and sold me one for a hunderd dollars less. I appreciate honesty and somebody not trying to upsell me when its not needed.

We had called and asked if they could replace a drive pulley and belt along with a tune up on the mower itself. They did a partial tune up and reinstalled the drive belt. The pulley is still not turning aka they didnt replace it nor did they replace the belt in which part of it was melted onto that pulley originally which is why we wanted both replaced. They charged almost $400 and then just left it in our driveway with the keys in it. No acknowledgement that it was handed over or conversation about the fix. Very upsetting when you trust a company with a piece of machinery like this.Update: after about a week of trying to get a hold of them as to why they didnt do the job we had asked for and paid for they then took our mower for another 2 weeks and then preceeded to charge us not only for parts but for labor they should have done when asked to do the first time. Not to mention on their invoice stating this was new damage and I have pictures of the area from before even the first time with the belt ate up and the pully not working. They lie, they cheat and they steal. This would be zero. Also they never call someone back when they ask for a call back. BBB will be hearing about this. DO NOT EVER LET THEM TOUCH YOUR EQUIPMENT!!!!

I will not support this business anymore, I have spend countless money there, not only have they ordered my wrong parts and told me it was my fault they was the wrong part but when I called after that incident happened and tried to confirm the part number to make sure it was the right part. Their representative laughed at me and told me “they don’t give out part numbers, and that there is only one part that I was looking for”

Purchased a new Scag Tiger Cat II from them and I miscounted my money, received a phone call today and they told me I overpaid so I told them to work me up another deal on some more landscaping equipment which is in the works. Its just good to know that they are small businesses out there that are super nice and honest, which is the most important thing for a small business like mine. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends and business partner.

This place has a small town, hometown feel and like its been owned by the family for many years. Theyre friendly, caring, knowledgeable and well stocked (call first for availability of specific parts). I found them a couple of years ago because I needed OE parts for my Stihl equipment on a Saturday (current Saturday hours 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM) and no other Stihl dealers were open. Now I bypass 2 or 3 closer Stihl dealers to go here. One is so big you cant reach them by phone to check parts/equipment availability and their service work turn times are very slow. Other closer dealers dont have the knowledge or selection. Southwest Lawn Equipment doesnt try to sell you things you dont need. Wish there were still more places like this around.

DO NOT GO HERE - They are a complete rip off. Charged $25 for environmental fee and $25 for shop supplies and charged $26 for shipping and handling when I know they get their supplies shipped for free. They dont disclose this and when you ask to see where it is in writing it just appears on your invoice. NEVER GO HERE - they got too much business and could care less about customers. Go somewhere else. Complete rip off.

I just moved into the area about a month ago. I visited Southwest Lawn Equipment for some repairs on my mower. They greeted me as soon as I walked into the door and was very eager to help. I drop my mower off for repair and was told it would be about a week before they could look at it. I received a phone in 5 days letting me know what they had found on my mower and told me how much it would cost. I gave them the approval to fix it. The next day they called and said my mower was ready. I went in a picked it up a few days later. There is customer service was outstanding and my mower runs great. I would recommend Southwest Lawn Equipment for all your repair needs and the purchase of any new equipment that you need.

Bought a $550 blower there. They seemed nice enough, so I opened an account with them for my business. 3 weeks later I went in for a part (new exhaust valve) for my old backpack blower, and was basically told not to even mess with it, like they didnt want to deal with ordering me a part. Certified Lawn Mower was happy to, and didnt charge me shipping like Southwest was going to. Then, giving them another chance because theyre so close to my house, I called in search of a stihl tiller. They said they had to order one and they would have it in 2-3 days, which was no problem. After 8 days I went up there and they said they didnt have it because it was back ordered, so I called Certified Lawn Mower, they ordered one for me and had it 2 days later. So obviously Southwest just blew me off and never ordered it. Still havent heard from them about it over a month later. Needless to say, Im driving the extra 15 minutes to Certified from now on. Wouldnt give Southwest another dollar of my money.

Took Husqvarna chainsaw here for repairs Oct 31 last year. After 8-10 return visits, have been told it cant be fixed. Picked it up today, 5-29-18, have box of most parts...and carrying case.Money spent for initial repairs has been refunded, thanks, but being unable to use saw for 7 months was quite the inconvenience. And now I still have a saw I cant use. In pieces.....mostly.Service folks were always nice, respectful and helpful, especially Ken.I would have handled the business end of this differently in my shop.

We never do business there. Brought a machine to have minor work done, told it would take 1-2 days. Finally ready a week later and they charged me over $100 for two wheels that you could get at Amazon for under $80 including shipping. Also charged 1.5 hours and should not have taken half that long. Add insurance for shop supplies and environmental fee ripped me for another almost $20. They didnt even bother to call. Ashamed I brought a lot of business for the last three years.

Worked for them for 4 years, got hurt and they left me hanging. Like so many fly-by-night outfits, they hire unqualified jack-leg temp mechanics, and have shady (at best) business practices. Ive been dissatisfied with Southwest for the last time. Even though they are right around the corner from me, I will now bring my business elsewhere. This is the third bad experience Ive had with them and they are losing a good customer because Ive spent thousands with these guys - Ive bought three chainsaws, a green egg, kombi-system, attachments, etc.It seems they are trying to rip customers off because their prices are all over the place and the staff (with the exception of Ken) is not knowledgable or helpful. The last straw was today, I get a price over the phone for a chainsaw and go down to make the purchase and they give me a price much higher ($300 more for the 880!). I inquire as to why and get nowhere. I even tell them what MSRP is on Stihls website for the saw - no help, they didnt seem to care. Ill buy my Stihl equipment elsewhere.Ken, who works for Southwest is the exception - this guy is awesome, very knowledgable, friendly and helpful. 5 stars for Ken - he should work elsewhere.

I took my chain saw to Southwest Lawn the other day because it would not stay running. They looked at it and were able to start it once, then the saw would not start. They said it was a carburetor issue that would most likely be covered by warranty even though the saw was 3 months past its 2 year warranty. They said give them 2 days to contact Stihl and fix the saw. I didnt hear from them for 5 days and decided to stop by to see what was going on. They said they had not looked at my saw and it would be at least another week before they could. I told them I wanted my saw to take it to another Stihl dealer. They had their mechanic look at it right then and there. They showed me a peeling filter and said I put 15% ethanol gasoline in the saw which ruined the carburetor, fuel lines, and filter. I asked where i could possibly get 15% ethanol fuel?!?! They quoted me $140 to fix the $240 saw. I told them I used fresh, recommended, high octane fuel and Stihl oil. They said its not the saws fault for all the necessary repairs. I took my saw to Carolina Turf Equipment and had a totally different diagnosis. The carburetor, fuel lines, and filter were totally fine!! They replaced the spark plug and pawls on the pull start that Southwest Lawn broke. The bill was $30!!! Saw works great! Go see Carolina Turf Equipment in Gastonia!!
