As far as equipment and price probably the best around. However as far as cleanliness I honestly say Ive been in gyms for the past 30 years and this hands down has to be the dirtiest gym Ive ever walked into. Every day the trash cans are overflowing with trash always all over the floors doesnt matter the time of day and the mens bathroom is no better I have yet to see any employee clean anything
Have been coming to this gym for a few years. It is right across from my office so very convenient to go after work. The place is kept clean and well maintained. The equipment is up to date. Three levels provide ample space. I like the open walking track and the variety of machines that they have. Sauna available and indoor pool. I do also enjoy the womens only area. They have very professional personal trainers so consider getting into that too. Some feedback: One small annoying thing is that a few machines are always down for maintenance and sometimes it can be a while. This is fine if there are multiple of the machines and yet its challenging when they only have one. I do also wish they had more squat racks. Those are always full.
This facility is flooded with natural light and provides all the equipment and amenities expected at a LA gym! What really sets it apart is the staff! Zach and Miles provided me with exceptional customer service from beginning to end and everyone greets you with a warm smile when you walk in the door. Highly recommend to anyone in the area!
Allison is amazing. Best salesperson they have in their arsenal.Fantastic facility comprised of over 3 levels, all with a multitude of sections to fill any and all needs a gym goer could ask for.How many gyms do you know of that have a track, pool, and indoor cinema?
Supposed to open at 8:00 am on weekends. Staff doesnt show up until after 8:00 on a routine occurrence, today came at 8:10 (Sep. 5th). About 15 people waiting outside for staff to arrive.Like other posts have shown, the place is dirty, especially the bathrooms, weights are not placed back on racks and machines are broken, not in good conditions or functioning properly.Management just seems like they dont care about their jobs and with this the place and experience is going down. Not worth the money, compared to what other near by gyms offer.
Nice gym. Its what you would expect from LA Fitness. Had a one month membership while my apartments gym was under construction.
This gym is awesome! Its my favorite place to ever work out.Tons of equipment, staff are friendly, great sauna
They were very nice when I called! Great customer service
Love the atmosphere always appreciate the staff when I come in they all have smiles and are happy to greet you when you come In Allison is the reason why I signed up for this gym if it wasn’t for her amazing negotiating skills and patients I would have gone elsewhere thank you guys for helping me on my journey to better my health
This gym is very clean and provides the avid or beginner lifter with all of the weights and machines they need. I thoroughly enjoy working out at this gym because it provides an experience unlike any other gym I have been to before.
Currently inside working out and I’ve seen more than 10 people without a masks. Not just hanging below their chin but actually not even wearing one and the staff walks around without saying anything. The fact they’re not enforcing the mandate just shows how careless they are. Not coming back. Also they only have like 2 squat racks despite being big enough. Not worth the money.
Great service and awesome group of people. Very nice facility and well kept. Shout out to Davon Loney and the rest of the sales team!
There is a big variety of equipment and things to do here. This is way better than any other box gyms like P.F. The one cool thing about this is there is a womens only workout area right next to the locker room. They know the gym to be awkward for us so that makes it even cooler that they think of that. 2 words, Indoor Track. Its on the 3rd floor. No matter how many people are in there, this place is big enough to where you dont feel like you are on top of other people.
Water filter needs replacing, lock boxes for valuables are still broken. Some machines are also still broken. There is no air conditioning in mens locker room. At this point I wonder if LA Fitness is going out of business because there is no justification for any of this. When asked about these issues, the LA employees are clueless.
I wait for an hour and 15 mnts so this sales men can be flirting and talking about his social life with that old woman.... This is very unprofessional they should told me over the phone that he was more interesting in making friends that helping new clients..
First class gym... Sharp, clean, professional.Devon and Ben were extremely helpful in every way and very attentive.Would recommend this gym if you’re in Charlotte. 10/10.12325 Copper Way, Charlotte, NC 28277
The sales associate Ben was helpful getting my membership setup. The gym itself is clean. It could use another squat rack, but overall a great place to workout.
I like the big space with a lot of equipment, and they have only woman work out room. But the running machine handle is sticky like is not clean. I don’t like the women toilet floor wet everywhere, is slippery, they need to check the floor. And some abs machine is old and is not working, they need a lot of replacement.
Very nice gym, clean and staff are friendly.
Its never less than 78 degrees inside. Some equipment needs to be oiled to change the weight spoke more easily. Its carpeted so it smells like feet. The upstairs mens restroom is seldom ever cleaned.
Ben us a spectacular sales consultant. I will start my work out schedule tomorrow. Ben made signing up easy and informative. The gym is clean with beautiful views of Ballantyne. I look forward to my work outs🙂
Outstanding atmosphere with well maintained assortment of equipment.
The place is not very clean. I like the space and the equipment, but the bathrooms are dirty and smell very bad!!!! Also the equipment is not getting cleaned well. It used to be better before Covid, not sure what happened...
Went to a labor day event 101.9 had and it was lit. Very nice but a little expensive
The gym still isn’t clean which I figured the pandemic would make them clean a little harder, the equipment is messed up more than it works and NOT socially distanced and the mask mandate in this gym is a joke. I saw too many either not masked or wearing them under their chin the duration of their workout and when I asked staff about it was informed that if you have a medical condition you don’t have to wear a mask..if your condition is that serious why would you be in the gym? I tried but I ended up opting for fitness connection as everyone in their in masked and they don’t buy into the medical excuse thing and they actually clean their gyms!Dont be fooled by the pictures in the misleading advertisement, this location is acquired by Fitness International LLC, it is NOT the LA fitness the corporation has been advertised.First of all, the pool is only 20 yard long in a shaded location in the back of the pool. The PH balance is always WRONG, see and smell by yourself. There are also used bandaid, dead bugs or hair sitting in the pool for days (same centipede, same cockroach) before clean up. Not to mention the shower is constantly has hot water. The pool was closed 2018, after the alleged maintain, the PH is still not at the right place.Second of all, the outside of the building looks new, but you can tell by the rusty dumb bells and the smelly cardio room that this location has been old.Thirdly, when you sign up, you have to pay an initiation fee, the first month and the last month. If you try to cancel, the LA fitness personnel will push you to the corporate, go online, email this talk to that to cancel it. You first and last monthly fee, plus the initiation fee are all go down the drain!

I love the gym, the staff I haven’t dealt with yet. So I don’t know. I hope I am in a good place. My question is: How is it safe for us to use the same few lockers during the Pandemic. 100 people using 100 different lockers is much safer than 100 users using 10 lockers. The probability for contamination and spread is way higher! Don’t you think? It’s just simple math and logic. And is there a ban on using showers during the current phase? Washing our bodies with soap is a good thing after using the gym equipment I think.
No employees ever on the work out floor for safety or guidance. Patrons lift and then just sit on machines reading their cell phones. It is hard to get a fast workout in when machines are used more for Facebook than lifting weights.
Absolutely love this gym.
Good things: plenty of equipment, most of the staff is pleasant, has a separate women only room, cardio theater and track, has a pool.Negative things: The bathroom sinks need an upgrade, I don’t wanna have to press down the handle the entire time with my hand (esp during a pandemic), they’re the old-fashioned kind - please change!!They need better air conditioning or something it’s always pretty muggy in there on warmer days.Another thing is that I felt deceived. When I first signed up, I specifically asked about their cancellation policy and I said since there’s a pandemic I want to make sure I can absolutely cancel with no difficulties and not having to pay additional fees to get back. I remember asking if I’d have to repay the initial deposit if I cancel or take a break and they told me I wouldn’t, that’s a one time fee and I can cancel as I want and come back. Well that’s not the case. With Covid cases going up I decided I wanted to pause my membership but they told me I couldn’t without paying a $10 monthly fee and that when I came back I would have to repay the deposit ($125 - that I just paid when I signed up a few months ago). They eventually let me pause without charging but it was misleading! They should be more flexible during a pandemic of all times, and they should make sure the staff all have common knowledge of their procedures and that they properly communicate that.
They do not clean the showers or maintain the pool correctly. The water is foggy and irritates your skin.
Most unhygienic and dirty gym in this world! They do not clean the girl’s bathroom and it is the most disgusting thing I have ever seen in my life. People leave the weights scattered everywhere and I never saw the workers clean the floor. Customers barely clean up after themselves. In a nutshell, a gutter gym!
This is appalling. Discarded masks all over the place. Crumpled up paper towels all around. Temperature is way too high for a gym. What the heck is going on here?!
This is one of the best gyms in Charlotte if you need a gym to go to! Great staff and great equipment to use.

A lot of sanitizer available to wipe down equipment.
Great Gym ! Great environment
Josh and DaVon were great to us. Treated us like VIP. Nuevos amigos!
I’m typing this review as I’m showering from the very showers of this gym.I’ve been holding off writing a review because I wanted to give this gym a chance but no more. This gym, especially the showers are disgusting in every sense of the word. When I tell you guys these showers aren’t washed in weeks, that is truly the case! I’ve seen hairs, dye bottles, bags, empty body wash bottles, bloody bandages, weird substances on the shower walls, and more! The grime, scum, and probably cum (sorry but I’m blunt) accumulate in these showers. Today was the last straw when I walked into the shower, and as I was, I saw little drain flies flying around the walls and ground, which was the first time I’ve seen them here but I’m not surprised. By how quick these things multiply, we’ll have a ton of them in just a few days. Disgusting! It smells like funk, gunk and junk in here. Like a constant body odor or something of that nature! I’m sure in the cracks of the shower stalls there’s mold and other stuff just lurking! People have skin conditions, there’s bodily fluids that fall onto these showers, accumulated nasty stuff that I shouldn’t have to shower with. There’s no reason why the maintenance/cleaning crew is this horrible and uncaring when this is a heavily trafficked gym and I’m sure these members pay a hefty price to be a member here! Like WTF! the other day there was a huge leak that took place in the men’s locker room that had taken over the tile floor and carpets. And they are STILL working on it! That’s not only a leak, it’s a safety hazard. Of how much ground that leak covered, there’s no reason there was ONLY TWO yellow watch your step signs! These people are ridiculous! Get it right, I chose y’all over other gyms here!Smh*theres more pictures but it’s not allowing to post all of them*
Terrible - difficult to cancel your membership, they wont work with you, even in the middle of a pandemic. Find another gym if you can
Great gym! Visiting out of town and I highly recommend this gym!
I visited Sunday 9/13/2020 and 70% of the members weren’t wearing face mask. We are in the midst of a pandemic and I tried to stay away from those that weren’t wearing a mask. On two separate occasions I had members not wearing masks invade my space because the machines weren’t socially distanced. I had to stop my workout and move to a different part of the gym because these careless, maskless individuals want to workout next to me breathing their droplets all out into the air.I will not be returning. It’s not safe and some people could careless about infecting others with COVID-19. I was disappointed that social distancing was not enforced! LA Fitness should care more about it’s members. I’ll be returning to Fitness Connection were mask are mandatory for everyone!
Great job of social distancing and felt good being back in the gym.
Want to know what a gym will look like if we colonize the planet Mars? Well this LA Fitness will be a pretty good representation of a space gym. The interior design is just strait up fancy. I will say that there was a machine or two that was a bit out dated. I am pretty sure NASA would not approve. But in general this was a great experience.
Please note that this review is for this location only. All 2+ dozen LA Fitness clubs that I visited either earn a 4 or 5 star rating. Equipment and club is outdated and needs remodeled. Items stay broken for weeks or longer before being fixed which is unlike other locations. Club does have a good layout and could be very nice with some attention. Also, club is kept clean.
Pretty good 👍
Beautiful gym! One of my favorite LAs for sure! 3 levels. Super clean always! Only down side is that this location does not have a hot tub on site.
This gym looks amazing from the outside and then you go inside. Its somewhere between a planet fitness and a Cal Fit. The equipment is very lacking for athletes and professionals. No deadlift area? Hex bar?
Really liked this gym, but recently canceled. I was billed a couple extra times after I canceled it, but someone took care of it without too much hassle. They stopped fully staffing the child watch area right before we canceled, so you ended up having one adult watching a lot of kids. They also charge $10 per child or $15 if you add the child after your membership. We added our newborn baby and were charged $15 for her since we didnt have her on when we joined (prior to her being born). The movie room is great, but the movies arent always the best. The projector breaks once a month, but theyre pretty good about fixing it quickly. I thought the gym itself was a pretty good value. The hours arent bad- especially if you want to go late. Loved that they stayed open until 11 during the week. This gym really could be something if they staffed up the child watch area again, trained the kids at the front desk a little better and spent $100 to get some better movies. I think they do a good job maintaining the equipment. They have a lot of what the Y has with a pool, group classes and a sauna, but for much cheaper. Great option if youre single.
My favorite place
I am a new member and was a little nervous about what to expect, but I met with Heather today, who really took the time to teach me a lot about effective workout, body dynamics, and strategic dieting to really maximize results. Heather then put me with Darius to walk me through some of the recommended exercises for my personal goals and he helped me through an upper body workout designed to meet my personal goals and match my starting point. Both are extremely professional but friendly and approachable. I feel good about my membership and excited for my path forward. 5 Stars, thanks Heather and Darius!
I’d say it’s a total dump but I’ve been to planet fitness. This club:1) worthless staff but the leave you alone2) clean and not clean3) paper towels and disinfectant always running out4) lousy hours on weekends: Sat 7pm, Sun 5pm5) has a bunch of treadmills no one uses, while they jettison good machinesThis place probably won’t be able afford the rent much longer.
I recently moved to Charlotte and when I started looking for a new gym I toured this location off of Johnston Rd. When I walked in I was greeted by the front desk and then introduced to Rob for a personal tour. He was very knowledgeable and friendly! This location has everything I was looking for, yoga, spin, free weights and my favorite bonus feature -- MOVIE ROOM! So I joined and started training with John V. - who has been excellent! He is so nice and really knows what he is talking about. I love that he personalized the workout just for me and that there is a different routine every week. After every session I always feel like I get a full body workout, and I always seem to leave smiling. I highly recommend a one on one session with John V.
This is one of the worst LA Fitness I’ve ever been. All the gym equipment is rusty.. I mean ALL!! Me and my wife were actually disgusted in using the gym equipment. If they don’t even do simple maintenance on their gym equipment, would they even clean them?! A huge place with lots of cardio.. but we struggled to be able to work out with simple equipment.. like there is only 1 abduction and 1 adduction machine... the building is the nicest thing about it. I wish there was another LA Fitness near as I’m seriously considering canceling my membership, since I moved here from Florida.
I love this LA Fitness. The club has the most modern equipment, I love the Zumba classes, and there is a pool. The only thing missing is a hot tub! That would be lovely if they got that. Otherwise, this is a great LA Fitness.
Ron is an awesome trainer and really help me reach a new level in my work out! Definitely would recommend. Heather was able toMap out my goal and visualized it for me. They’re both awesome!
I just joined the gym last week and have enjoyed the classes and facilities at LA fitness! Today I had my complimentary fitness evaluation with Heather which was very helpful and I feel like I have a good point at which to start to work towards my goals! Also worked with Matt today for a personal training session which was super helpful and I felt like he did a great job targeting the muscles that I wanted to work.
I went on a tour of this gym considering joining. They have quite a bit of machines, classes and amenities which was nice to see. But, the layout of the gym is for individuals who want to be “seen” or “on display”. Their women’s only workout room is quite small and dreary. Also the women’s locker room only has one private dressing room. All of these things seemed fine for the members that were there but, if you’re a bit on the shy side or just a private person you may want to look elsewhere.
Best gym in the Charlotte area. Clean equipment with lots to chose from and great building layout, no complaints here
This gym is not clean and I wish they took more pride in keeping the equipment clean. There is a woman’s only room, which is nice. However, the staff doesn’t not clean any of the equipment and there is not a culture where people clean their equipment. Disgusting. The equipment is older as well. Not worth the money. Go to planet fitness.
I joined this gym about a month ago and really enjoy it. I started training with Latesha and she is fantastic. She is always positive, encouraging and pushes you to realize you’re stronger than you think. Everyone I’ve encountered at the gym have been very friendly making it a great environment to reach your goals!
The girl at the front desk in the morning always has a smile on her face and she is very nice. Its always good to be greeted no matter how early it is when you come to the gym with that kind of warm welcome. The gym itself is always very nice and kept clean
Good gym. Its pretty run down, especially for the amount of money spent for the membership. A lot of members camp on machines while doing multiple sets which makes it difficult to work out efficiently. They have 3 squat racks in the entire gym and no dead lift area at all. If you like doing curls while looking at yourself (and others) in the mirrors this is your place. There is a deli though, when its open, that would be an excellent place to put a power lift area with squat racks and dead lift area.
Good place but no one to guide you where the facilities are. Few employees to provide information
Love this gym. The child care worker is super nice. I also like that they have a track on the third story.
This place was great when it was urban active, not anymore, they need a better management, and more welcoming crew, more attention. They have a great structure that Urban Active left, if they have put the right team and programs this could be a great gym, I will check back again in one month hopefully my review will change to a better one, hopefully new equipment will be installed, not the same equipment since 2009 La fitness took over two years, they just started covering the Urban active signs and painting over it.
Just stopped by to get some quick info on memberships. A lady was standing at the door and was turning people away saying they were closed I saw people inside and asked when the closed. She said 7pm, it was only 640pm. I told her we just wanted some quick info and prices. She said we couldnt get that, wed have to come a different day.Incredibly poor customer service. LA Fitness lost our business today.
I love this gym.
I love how nice this LA Fitness facility is. Even on the outside the architectural design of this one is really amazing. Inside its always clean and never too crowded Im always able to get a great workout at this gym.
This LA Fitness location has an amazing track and also great space. Friendly Staffing new equipment makes for a great gym
This place has so much potential but it seems they don’t care. I went on a free trial wanting to purchase a membership. The black guy at the front desk didn’t welcome us and made us seem like we were interrupting him from his phone. Didn’t ask if we had any questions or anything. Just went right back to his phone. The sana is out of service and has been for ever according to the members. The water fountain button was missing, and the showers were FILTHY. To top it off there was no shampoo in the dispenser. I felt even grosser leaving the shower than when I got out. When leaving... no “thanks for coming have a good night”, he was still just staring at his phone. Very disappointing.
Great place to go. Not crowded. People are dressed appropriately. Good equipment. It just feels good to be there. Glad we are members. I like it lots better than the YMCA.
It’s actually a very nice gym. Better than most out there. The only complaint I have is the men’s locker room. It stinks there so bad. Smells like dirty rug. Maybe because of the carpet at the locker area itself. Please either remove the carpet or at least shampoo them regularly. I cant last a minute in there.
Love the gym however the repair staff are beyond poor. The sauna has now been out of operation for near 2 months and showers have stayed broken for weeks at a time as well as workout machines seem to be on the back burner here. Have seen many people leave and it’s too bad
Ive been going to this LA for 3 years now. There are a lot of regulars who go to the location, and most are respectful and friendly. Music inside is not overpowering, and the layout is well equipped. Some stuff stays broken longer than I would like to see, but having worked for a gym I know the politics involved.
Good gym for Charlotte. Ask for Chris if you want to join...he knows the deals. Gym is well maintained and clean. Felicia at AM front desk is a real pro also. So...good staff, good location, good equipment...at a Fair price.
This is probably the nicest LA Fitness Ive ever been to. It has a pool, indoor track, dumbbells up to 125 lbs, plate loaded machines, cable base machines, a ton of cardio equipment, free weights, benches, everything you could possibly need for a serious strength training workout. Everything is really clean too
Typical LA Fitness gym with pool and sauna. i think they only have 1 racquetball court on the second floor (i havent checked the first floor yet). no basketball court also. there is a track on the 3rd floor where you can walk, jog or run. the track goes around the gym. it has a great view of both inside and outside of the gym.the only bad part is the stinking smell of the mens room. you can smell it even before you come in. terribly disgusting! thats the reason for 3 stars😷
My son and I Love this gym! The kids zone is awesome and the classes are amazing. Refuse to go to another gym.
A nice gym with plenty of space. Nice track on third floor for indoor running. I wish the staff was a bit more friendly or engaged. They are often on their phones and look a bit bored.
AWFUL customer service, from the VP down. They charged my wife over 1000 dollars in training after we asked to have our account paused when we found out she was pregnant. I’ve been with them for over three years. Terrible customer service! Worst I’ve ever seen. Do not trust these scammers
Overall a good gym. Has a nice variety of classes. Guest policy sucks, I should be able to bring a friend occasionally without paying $15 a day when I pay $30 a month.
When my wife and I decided to look in to a gym we wanted something close with a lot of workout options. I was impressed that they had a pool, and 2 more levels of workout equipment. It seemed to have many squat racks along with enough free weight equipment and machines to get the job done. There is also a nice track.By far, what I like about this gym is the kind people that seem to work there. Each time I go, someone greets me and says hello or helps scan my card. When I have had questions they have answered them. I am thankful I have joined this gym. I hope they dont let me down in the future. Keep up the good work.
This La fitness clearly needs new management. The most unprofessional and egotistical man I have ever met in my life. Denied my brother and I a tour because I wasnt interested in joining at that exact moment. If anyone is looking for a membership at this la fitness I highly recommend that you dont and look elsewhere. From the outside it is a beautiful facility but only interested in making more money instead of helping people become healthier.
Coming from south Florida I’d put this gym at an 8 out of 10. It has everything you need and I’ve always been a fan of the multilevel design for aesthetics.
Great Appearance, Clean Facility, Spacious, enjoy my time when there, only constructive criticism would be I wish they had a tad bit more equipment, would make peak times not as congested for certain machinery or weights..... Other than that, loving it.
It is the better of LA Fitness locations Ive visited. They could easily go to four and a half stars by simply repairing equipment within 2 business days and making their training staff enforce gym etiquette on the floor (i.e. put away weights, strip machines, remove cable accessories when done, etc.) Or use their downtime to clean up. Hint: In gym nomenclature cleaning a machine does not mean wiping it down.
Good gym
I signed up for their complimentary guest pass and unfortunately I wont join LA Fitness. The equipment is absolutely disgusting, filthy, rusty, and dusty. I didnt even bother checking their lockers or restroom. The staff was helpful but had to wait 15 minutes to activate my guess pass. I believe this gym has a lot potential with a new makeover.
LA Fitness is not a bad gym whatsoever. The people at the front desk are friendly. They have a lot of machines. Now if you are going to workout I suggest skipping Monday and instead workout on Tuesday. As Monday is the busiest day at the gym.
Great club stays busy, lots of equipment. Robin was awesome at helping me to get some items addressed.
I have been a member for about a month now and I enjoy this club. I like the classes, although it would be nice if they offered more. The staff has been friendly and helpful to me. It is clean and has many machines available, but I often go at non-peak times.
LA Fitness offers Silver Sneakers exercise classes as well as personalized fitness programs.
Ive been a member here for 5 years and the best thing about this gym is the childcare. When something breaks it takes way too long to get repaired. I notify the staff and have emailed their corporate office and things still dont get fixed. They just push it around to different people in typical corporate fashion. There is a mirror by the Smith Machine that has been broken for 4+ months with a red smear right in the middle of the break (use you imagination as to what that may be). I brought it to the attention of the facility manager and the regional manager that was in the club all summer and it is still broken. Today I started my cardio on a piece of equipment and when I finished my warm-up and tried to increase the resistance the buttons didnt work and I had to change machines. These are just a few examples... its very common for a piece of equipment to break and it take months to get repaired. Its really sad because from the outside it looks like a great place. Why do I still go here? I made the mistake of paying for my membership in full. When it runs out I wont be renewing.
Overall a good gym. The management could do a better job keeping up with broken equipment repairs & general building maintenance. However, the membership is a good value.
