I love the gym, been a member since this location opened. I signed up because they were a 24 hour gym which worked out well for me because I have to be to work at 6am. However since the pandemic, they changed their hours and have not gone back to 24 hours. I keep asking and no one seems to know. I keep hearing hopefully soon but that had been for months now. I have been trying to hang in there but not sure how much longer I can wait. Will have to cancel and sign up with planet. One person said they were talking about extending the hours until midnight. I suggested opening at 4am. Instead of extending it later open a little earlier to accommodate all clients.

Considering this gym has everything you would need for a great workout (except no pool); I have an issue with their basic maintenance upkeep. I have been coming in no less than 4-5 days a week for over a few months now. If you go right when they open at 5 a.m., why are the free weights strewn about in various corners throughout the gym instead of on the racks where they should be? This happens A LOT! People are not mindful to put equipment back for the next person and the closing staff doesnt do it either. Also the cable machines are missing some C clamps so if you catch a machine not in use, you still cant attach the proper handle to it. One of the handles has been broken for weeks rendering it useless. I know these things happen in lots of gyms, but not usually right after they have opened up for the day. So annoying! Constantly having to modify our workouts because we cant find the right free weights or handles for cable machines. These photos are just an example of what people left around. All of the free weights, the dumbbell and the barbell should be on the other side of the gym. These were taken in the morning so they were left out from the night before.

Good gym, mostly friend staff. But you need a LOT of patience with inconsiderate people to work out here. Nobody puts their weight back, hog piles of weights and put them back in the wrong place or not at all as pictured. Nearly every workout when we have to use more than 3 plates on each side we have to scour the gym for available plates in any size since racks are always mismatched or bare. Lastly, It would be nice if the updates like temp closings ect. Would be communicated a little better (We already have text and app updates and still get blindsided by holiday or temp closings)

This is a great gym if you can stand the lack of etiquette from the members. A specific example is there is a lady who trains there who takes a preset easy bar (which they only have 1 of ) and takes it for her whole workout and uses it as her tripod while she films herself working out. I spoke to the manager about this and he has obviously not done a thing about it because she continues to do this. B#%^# buy a freakin tripod.

Great gym and the staff is awesome only bad thing is the hours on Sunday they need to open earlier.

Once again as I embark on my journey to become more fit, it was a given that I would seek out Fitness Connection. The West Harris Blvd location works out perfectly. Its less than five miles from my place of employment and less than five miles from my home. The facility is clean and staffed with some of the most knowledge personal within the fitness community. The atmosphere is positive and relaxed. The equipment is always operable and they have a complete assortment of various equipment. They have an abundance of supplements that include a vegetable based protein assortment. And with a five am opening and a ten oclock closing, its a perfect. I can hit the full time and drop by for an early evening pre-work out. And then stop in after doing my Door Dash thing for a late night workout. 💪🏾

I have never worked out here before. but yesterday i met Anna yesterday who works here and i asked her does she works out and she told me yes come check you guys out. she was really helpful gave me some really nice tips and she was very nice and professional. so now i’m setting an appointment up tomorrow to come get a tour from her bc she really made me wanna come check you guys out. thanks Anna i really appreciate you for your helpful and great tips when it comes to working out. that was super nice of you to help me especially off the clock.

This place is Awesome, Hugh, and the staff is very friendly. If you cant find equipment to use, you didnt got to exercise. I love this place.

Larry and the other staff went above and beyond to make my visit there wonderful! They answered all my questions and was very helpful. They really care about health and will show and help you achieve your goals. Larry and another staff even took the time to retrieve my friends air pod that got got stuck in the equipment lol! They are wonderful. They follow the guidelines and keep the facility clean and sanitized. I definitely recommend!

Theres a decent amount of equipment and space to train, as well as, a separate female training area, basketball courts and racket ball courts.

Fitness Connection University is a great space. Its quite huge with really high ceilings. Good mix of cardio machines, free weights and strength machines. And its super affordable.

The so called manager Star, was very unprofessional and did not try to help me with something very simple. I don’t understand how she is even a manager when she can’t even speak correctly. I wouldn’t recommend this gym just because of the employees that work there. They have no common sense or compassion. Try to planet fitness down the road they are much nicer to the paying customer

Always enjoy going here. This is a large facility with loads of equipment and activity areas. There is a full locker room, shower, and sauna area as well as a Store for proteins, drinks, and other items. If you are looking for a good gym in your area then this is definitely one of the best selections. Also membership cost is typically pretty low especially when compared to a variety of other gyms.

I have gone to many gyms, they give a space and time for customers to join. But this gym, once you enter they will force you to keep yours with them, too money minded. For that, they will tell you joining fee may increase tomorrow. Nice clean gym plenty of free weights and pulley systems. No need to wait on equipment to free up. Cleaning supplies everywhere and easily accessible.

Extreme lack of equipment. Hardly any weights, barely any cable attachments, and just poor quality attachments in general.Worst part is the people that come here. Very ghetto crowd. These people do not re-rack their weights, they hollar and scream the whole time and they mean mug you for no reason.This gym is not even worth the $10 a month. I’m switching asap

The most horrible experience I have ever had in just trying to sign up to join a gym. No employee will give you the same information. It all started with signing up for a free 5 day pass to try out the gym. Then I was contacted by Brian and pressured into purchasing the $9 special so I didnt miss the deal they had before the prices sky rocketed back up. But I was guaranteed a refund if I didnt like the gym. I scheduled an appointment to view the gym on Monday at 7PM. However, I received a text saying my appointment time was slated for 2PM which was not I had scheduled. So I called on Monday morning because they were closed on Sunday to get the correct appointment time. Once I arrived for my tour the tour guide toured me for about 3 minutes and I noticed people where not properly wearing masks and I was told if I didnt feel safe I shouldnt be there. (instead of people being made to properly wear PPE to protect themselves and others). After I left, I thought of another question in reference to bringing guests, so I called inside and they said yes you can bring guests. However, when I arrived back at 8PM I was rudely informed by the tour guide that you couldnt bring guests at that time. So I called back the next morning and asked if now was a good time to come with a guest and I was told a totally different story about guests. So when I asked to speak with the manager, he didnt care to hear my experience only interested in canceling my membership and not giving me the refund I was promised by Brian. When I called to ask to speak to GM to resolve all the matter, the only thing I get is Ty Hoffman is in meetings. My suggestion is to stay as far away from Fitness Connection as possible because you will not get your gym goals met. I suggest going to Planet Fitness on University and ask for Dani- she is the BEST! hassle free and knowledgeable on their services. GO PLANET FITNESS!

My first day I came in and I was finishing up working out when I was approached by a young man who threatened to call the police if I did not leave, but told another guest that he could stay as he walked into the bathroom.

The staff is very kind and welcoming every time I go in! I really appreciate the fact that they check temperatures at the door, walk around every 10-15 minutes to clean up, and enforce others to wear their face mask if not doing so while working out.Thank you for reopening! The only downside is that the gym is no longer open 24/7, but other than that I really enjoy going to Fitness Connection!

Would not recommend. They steal. What makes this company think they’re entitled to an additional month after a person wants to cancel their membership? We paid an additional month and I 100% feel like they stole from me because of this. It’s a scam. It’s unfair to their customers. They did NOT tell us this during sign up. That would have turned the majority of us off. So they lie. They steal. They put it in their contract but it is a BS policy. Just don’t do it. Their facility is big and the equipment is alright, but they do not deserve your money and it’s as simple as that.

Upon receiving numerous notifications of my account being past due, I am contacting the corporate office since my emails and calls are not being addressed. I was caller 98 on November 4th where I was on hold for 2 hours and 28 minutes. I called again when receiving another notification and was caller 88 no answer. As I write this review, I am on hold now as caller 99 and simply want to cancel my membership. I am pregnant and am not willing to take the risk during this pandemic. I have, also, sent an email to my local Fitness Connection in University of Charlotte, NC with no response. I dont know what else I can do at this time to try to inform you all that I do not want to continue my membership since I am protecting the health of my baby. I have emailed three emails that have been rejected or neglected so far. This is very frustrating. Now 2 hours and 13 minutes later I am caller 1 and am still holding.

Larry was amazing and very knowledgeable about the facility. He was able to reactivate my account and explain all plans and options I had at all Fitness Connection locations.

I love the gym and I have been a member for a while. I haven’t had problems with billing at all since the reopening. I do love the safety precautions but lately I have seen a large number of people not adhering to the mask policy. Also you may be following guidelines but it’s starting to feel a lil overcrowded at times

Not crowded at 5am. Some equipment moved or disabled to promote social distancing. Basketball and racket ball courts are filled with equipment. Only bathrooms available in the locker rooms. I wash my hands and disinfect my phone after working out. So far I have no COVID concerns.

DO NOT SIGN UP TO THIS GYM! Not only is the gym dirty, but the customer service is atrocious. I was never notified that Fitness Connection was opening up post pandemic because the person who signed me up did not put my email in correctly. Because of THEIR error, I was billed close to 100$ for services I never used once. Ethical companies like the YMCA did not bill you until you physically came back to a gym to use their services. I am being made to pay for Fitness Connection’s mistake in not ensuring my contact information was imputes successfully. I would not trust this company whatsoever. Put your money into an organization that cares about their customers. If I could give Fitness Connection zero stars I would.

Shady company. I was with Sports & Fitness before Fitness Connection bought the gym. Canceled billing when I moved away to an area where they had no locations. Billing disappeared then random charges started hitting my credit card after several months of not being active with thy gym. Took several attempt and hours waiting to reach them. When I did, they declined to refund and stated they would continue to charge me for at least another month. Interesting they dont have their Facebook page showing reviews either. Super shady business so buyer beware.

Canceled a 5 year membership here recently. Was needing to freeze for Covid reasons but told I have to come in person to make changes, even though I had my contract and membership numbers handy... Ticked off about the situation, because it didnt match the website, I called a branch across town. They helped me immediately with no issues. The manager had lied to force people to come in during a global pandemic that needed to make changes..... It is a great gym, but that had me cancel to shop elsewhere, at least for the time being.

The equipment is always misplaced but the biggest problem is the men’s bathroom is constantly closed every time I come. Every day this week, it has been closed for at least an hour. I understand they’re trying to keep it clean because of COVID and whatnot but does it really take that long?

I enjoy the gym and the variety of equipment but overall cleanliness of the facility is a mess. The womens room was a total disaster. Dumbbells were all over the floor, the dumbbell rack was literally empty, and dumbbells were misplaced. I was there at about 9pm on Thursday and it was still packed. One thing that had happened to me while I was working out was when the cleaning lady vacuumed the hip abductor machine while I was sitting/using it. Clearly it was pretty empty but she had to vacuum that machine first.

Horrible... not worth....I am just being robbed, i cannot cancel the subscription even if there is no contract signed or ahreed and the customer service number has an automated voice that keeps you holding for 1-2,3 hours every time i call and no one attends.Membership meter keeps running every months though it has been few months i have not been and the accounts froze up after lockdown without consulting with the customer this gym membership just charges you no matter what.Things like these need to be reported to consumer federation department.Fitness Connection management if you reading this act on it please.

The place itself is nice. They just need to take better care of the equipment!. A treadmill that click or stationary bike making noise can sometimes mess with your Concentration!

I enjoy this location. The staff is always nice and inviting. I recently came in and had a minor issue and staff member Que was extremely helpful at getting it resolved. He’s always around and knowledgeable with whatever questions I have. The equipment always clean and available and The hours here also helpful with my day to day schedule l.

Big gym but useless. So crowded and all gym equipment and machines are not distributed correctly. You have to keep rooming around to find the machine you want to work on.

This gym they scam people. I join this gym in October. I was told I was gonna be charge $18 the first month and after the first month I will be charge $10 every months. They charge me the $18 in October and charge me $10 on November 2 and charge me again$46 on today which in November 20. They told me that $46 it’s an annual fee and it was on the contract and I told them I read the contract and didn’t see anything about the $46. I was told they can’t find the contract that I applied online.

So I got the membership to have something for me and my son to do on days that I didnt feel like going to the park. But they have the worst child care that I have ever seen. They barely greet the kids when they get there and sometimes they just dont at all. I go to check with him on him sometime. And most of the time no one is paying attention to the children at all. Literally the last time I went there one girl up front looking at herself in the mirror any other girl was talking to another co-worker there. It looks like they just would hire anybody to fill the position just to say that have someone looking after your kids. Not happy at all. Not going back. In fact I am canceling my membership. Its always crowded around the time child care is open. Its not worth it to me. Not the drive not the money nothing.the only reason I did not give them one Star was because I did enjoy the cycle class they had there with that a lady named April teaches.

When First Arriving it was very welcoming. Nataly B helped with it all. She was very professional and seems very knowledgeable. Gave me all info I needed and with the best smile. Every morning I’m in she and all other staff great me with the best smiles. Wishing me a great workout. This is my fist gym membership and I highly recommend it. The best feature yet.......... Kids place. That’s how they won me. They have toys, books, tablets and even a theater for movies. Me & My kids love it there.

I like the gym but I do wish they would expedite fixing the machines that are broken. Especially the ones in the womens center when there are already a limited amount available.

There is no reason why the bathrooms should be closed in the middle of the day for cleaning. Ive worked out in gyms all over the world and I have never seen this kind of unprofessionalism. This needs to change. Its absolutely ridiculous to close the bathrooms when your crowded, they should hire male cleaners to clean the mens bathroom bc Im guessing this is the reason for them always closing the mens bathroom. Deep cleaning should be done at night when the gym is closed. Id give this place a zero star if I could.

Been going to the gym for the quite some time now .dropping the enrollment fee to 0$ and 10 a month is great but your bringing in the serious and the not serious the good and the bad making bullying possible like what happened to me the other day ..people using a machine how ever you try to use the other one you get a rude voice saying hey Im on that machine too while sitting playing with cell phone ..some people are not three to workout I could see that .there is a lack of supervision. Ill continue going to that gym Im not giving up on it ..as this gym is close to my house and business the place is clean no problem with the crew just need some supervision and some rules like limiting cellphone usage and not use more than one machine at same time blocking others from working out and no bullying as this could turn ugly really fast

Cancellation process is very confusing and you will end up paying for extra fees and in my case i had to pay 2 months of fee plus annual charge. Very bad experience.

If you enjoy going to the gym to socialize or look at your phone, then this is the place for you. Overall its cheap membership with lots of equipment and space. However, the crowd it brings brings a negative impact to the standards. I would honestly only recommend this gym if you go during weird hours like very early or super late due to the fact of the community inside.

There’s is more than enough equipment. I never have to wait to use any machines. It’s also a very clean gym. The staff is also very pleasant. Morque is always there to greet everyone with a warming smile. He’s very knowledgeable of the different membership programs and supplements. He really helped me out on my start to my fitness journey. I’m up 11 pounds and got 12 to go to reach 200 pounds

It’s a fun gym . I like people watching and I go there mostly to let off steam. If you are the scary workout person that judges everyone else’s workout routine this isn’t the gym for you . Personally working out is away for me to escape the real world. It’s a fun gym with great energy and most of all it has a movie 🎥 theatre I’m sold 😃.

I am trying to resolve an account issue. They contacted me by text and told me to call my local gym but, apparently, no humans work at the University location. I have tried for a month, numerous times, and no one answers the phone. I have now been holding for almost an hour and I am still number 6 in line. Grrrr.

Whos up for protesting against Fitness Connections business practices of charging people against their will during a pandemic?

I was granted a 7 day trial to try the facility out. I went in the facility on day 1, then went in on day 2, I was not allowed to use the facility because I was not a member and they had 260 persons in the facility and the max capacity is 450. But if I joined RIGHT NOW then I would be allowed in to use the facility. Only Members are allowed in at the moment. What they don’t know, I was 100% leaning to join after the 7 days trial period but currently NOT. This is BAD customer service at its worse. #Vistorsbecomemembers

I’ve been to this gym on two separate occasions. Never a bad experience. I’ve been to multiple gyms in many states and this one meets or exceeds my expectations. For $10/month it blows that purple place out of the water. I’m so glad that someone finally made a great gym affordable to everyone.

Aye besides it being packed this year the gym is awesome and the employees are great. One guy in particular stands out more than others and that’s my guy Morque. He’s a really outstanding guy anything I need I go to him. 💪🏾Thanks

BEWARE OF HIDDEN CHARGES!This is the absolute worst gym in terms of hidden costs and fees. They start charging without any notice to you at all. 40$ cleaning fee every year. Also, keep in mind there is a 30 day notice period so I have pay for one more month even after cancelling. Bonus point, there have really bad customer service. I has on hold 1 hour 40 minutes just to get to talk to someone!! DO NOT JOIN!

GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. After years of going to this gym, I moved out of the area so I needed to cancel my membership. They make it borderline impossible to cancel. I was on hold 2 separate times for 3 HOURS. On top of that, they make you pay the next months fees due to the contract. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.

I have to say this is by far the best gym experience I have ever had! The classes alone are so worth it to me. Every instructor is great and extremely welcoming. Sheridan, India, Tanya, Keecha, and Marcia are wonderful instructors!! If you are looking for a gym as a beginner and not sure you should definitely try FC University:)

It is the worst GYM ever, and they make it extremely hard to do a cancellation. I went to the customer service at the Gym and told them I want to cancel my membership, but they refused to help me out and told me go online and do it yourself, so I went online to see how to do it but was too hard. Anyway, I canceled it online but they didn’t sent me a confirmation and try to call them none answered my phone.I think they make money from scam people and keep collecting money and interest not from the business itself. Be aware of what they are doing and find better Gym that respects their members.

I really enjoy the group fitness class Mixxedfit taught by Keecha Finley! The class is so energetic and she is very engaged with the crowd! I also love the “movie room” to enjoy a peaceful workout.I gave the review a 4 star because the locker room can be a little cleaner, and the sauna breaks quite often.

$10? YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. Gym is FILTHY, bathroom smells like URINE, weight room is OVERCROWDED with EX CONVICTS and STRIPPERS (yep $10 a month will attract that) so be ready to wait in line. Probably the worst gym in America. They advertise $10 a month but wont mention the $40 annual fee. They have a 30 day cancellation policy so they will bill you once more after cancellation. THEY MAKE CANCELLING YOUR ACCOUNT SUPER HARD. Cancelled my account in December but they tried to bill me an annual fee in March because their policy changed in 2019 and my billing period rolled into January of 2019 although its been over 30 days since cancellation...see the loophole? all they want is to bill you as quickly as possible because they know you will cancel. Join a better gym. This gym is TRASH, staff is very unethical. HORRIBLE...Even if they make an error, its your fault. They do not refund.Please, even if you are paying a bit more...join a better gym..you will actually be able to exercise and be healthy instead of paying $10 a month, not getting anything done, and be miserable and angry after working out. Invest in yourself and dont be cheap like this trash corporation.

It would be nice if heating elements work properly in ladies sauna room. Its been over month now to my knowledge that only 1 is working and the sauna too big for that. Have reported several times but nothing so Ive decided to write a review.

I had an amazing experience signing up here. Morque’ was informative, speedy, and a pleasure to speak with as well. His customer service was above and beyond. I adore the positive energy I felt and would recommend others to join and go see Morque’ while you are at it.

Morque is very friendly and helpful. The sign up process was fast and easy. He explained the process with great detail.

Once you warm up to this gym, it’s fine. I was very intimidated for the first year I went, as there are lots of “big” guys who workout here and can intimidate you if you don’t really know what you are doing. Working out in the morning or early afternoon is when there will be the least amount of crowds. Wish people put equipment back or rules were better enforced. Locker room and gym area is clean, for the most part. The fitness classes are fun and are the main reason I work out here. All in all, good gym for the price you pay.

This is a premium place for people of all ages either you want to work out hard or you can create your own spot treatment.The place is clean and the staff is wonderful.

I’ve had mixed experiences here but the price of the membership makes up for the cons. This is the lowest costing gym in the area. I did not have a good initial experience though. I knew I needed a gym membership but I wanted to try out the gym before committing. On the site, it lets you sign up for a week trial before signing up for a membership. I came in for the first time but they immediately made me pay for the membership fee plus the initiation fee which was $100. They said I couldn’t get the $10 per month price as advertised on the site unless I signed up then and there. This made me really upset. They didn’t even show me around first. They wouldn’t really listen to me and what I wanted because I wasn’t ready to commit. They were very pushy and the sales associate seemed annoyed that I wouldn’t go along with it so I had to talk to the sales manager. I ended up getting it because I was with my partner there and she said it was fine for her for now. I still have the membership so following that incident, I don’t interact much with the staff unless they stop me as I come in or leave to ask me to refer my friends which happens often. They do have nice amenities including a sauna, movie room while you work out, women’s only workout room, basketball court, and two racquetball courts. There are plenty of different equipments which usually work. If they don’t, then it’s fixed Worthington a few days or so. There is also a turf area for floor workouts but I wish there was a bit more room since it’s limited. Overall, you can get the job done here.

Not worth the $10. Pay for a better experience if you value your time. Too packed unless you go early. Weights are NEVER re racked. Dumbbells and bars are frequently all over the gym floor. Staff is rarely working to help clean the floor. Childcare is a joke.

I went to this gym today to buy a day pass. In order to do so, they had me sit down with a membership sales associate and go over all the details of a membership. Not only did they not listen to my request to simply purchase a one day pass and try to sell me the membership (keep in mind I was only visiting from out of town and mentioned this multiple times), they proceeded to ask me why I wanted to work out or be at the gym. The only options were listed multiple choices answers from “tone and firm” to “lose weight”. When I responded to the girl that it was simply to just be healthy and get some movement, she replied by saying “Well you have a wedding coming up so I’m sure you will want to get in that dress”. Then proceeded to continue talking about about losing weight to fit in the dress and even proceeded to write down dress under my answers on her paper.Seriously? That’s how you promote your gym? To try and make health about looks and weight loss? I am recovering from an eating disorder and that is the last thing a person in recovery needs to hear. This gym needs to teach staff to be conscious of their words and understand not everyone is looking to just “fit into a dress”. I hope this review allows you to train your staff to understand you don’t always know what others are going through and to be mindful when speaking to others. Incredibly disappointing experience.

I love this location. I always get a great workout in. Also a big thank to Morque for always being a big help and motivating me .

I really like this gym. Every now and then I work out here and enjoy it. Recently someone ran thru the racquetball door. I have never heard of this in the 10+ years but that is what happened. The issue that I have is that we have only one court and it has been over 1 1/2 months since it happened. Every time you ask about it the door they say 2-3 weeks. I am starting to believe the door was never ordered! It just feels real disrespectful when it seems like they careless about THE ONE REASON YOU JOINED. They need to do better and get the door up in less than 2 months!!!

Love my new gym home. Clean. Inviting. Great staff. Decent prices. Professional staff. Live the fitness classes offered and how the floor plan is set up. Reasonable contract as well
