I love Ovens but Im vertically challenged! Short! A seat on the floor always has someone taller in front of me. I now choose the Grand Tier. I made the mistake the first time of choosing row A but as you can see from the photos, there is a bar that ran directly across my sight line with the stage. Grand Tier center, row BB is now my choice in Ovens. The restrooms were impossible with a full house at intermission so dont have bottle of water before being seated! LOL!
Theyve added more bathrooms, but theyre not easy to find unless you leave the balcony area. They require masks at all times. No concessions as of 9/11/21 when we visited for Wicked. It is very hard to go 3 1/2 hours with nothing to drink. I hope they ease up on this restriction, because it was very hard on my body with the medications I take. Made it almost unpleasant and difficult to enjoy the very excellent musical!
Wonderful place to see a show! Always a good time. Beer, wine, liquor, soda and light snacks are available from the friendly staff. Great place to bring a date or a group of friends!Be advised, the rules around food/drink inside the auditorium differs per show (especially with covid). Some prefomers dont allow food or drink inside there shows. This is determined by the performer, not the venue.
Show was amazing!!!! The place was packed, EXTREMELY hot, no air flow and no water was allowed. We wont be back until this pandemic is over.
Super hot inside during Wicked. You would think with everyone masked, the facility would be properly ventilated and cool.
Went to see Wicked. Very nice facility. Holds about 2400 folks. Everyone was masked. Efficient processing through lines, etc
Felt very safe. Checked purses, had to show proof of vaccination or negative test. Masks REQUIRED. People not complying are asked to leave.
Wicked was hands down the best show I have ever seen. Omg and the aww of everyone being back on stage after a long year of Covid really felt magical. It was a magical experience. I will never ever forget going to the theater after a very long isolated year. And everyone was in this together it felt like a true pandemic success that we can do things together if everyone participates and makes it happen. It was a truly once in a lifetime opportunity. I hope we never have to experience Covid round 2!
The parking and getting into the theater was very easy and convenient and no extra charge which was nice! As far as inside the actual theater I can only rate based off our cheap seats in the back. There was not much leg space so I was uncomfortable the whole time with my knees crammed (I am 59). We also could not see the actors and actresses faces from our seats. Maybe if we were on the lower level or closer we could have seen more and potentially leg room is bigger in the more expensive seats.
Great theater! Comfortable seats and honestly I dont think there are any truly obstructed views in this auditorium. We sat in Tier Right letters jj and kk and even being on the wall( last seats over) we could see well. I would choose Tier Right again. They had an ample amount of restrooms which was helpful and they also announced the time every so often during intermission which was also helpful. The parking was done well with plenty of space. I would definitely go back to this theater in the future. The only issue was you cannot even bring water into the building which was very disappointing.
Nice place, the show was awesome, easy entry, police blocked off one lane of the highway just to make the exit easier.
Plenty of parking, great show, good sound, chairs were a little tight for me but everything else is fine.
In the seats we could afford, I couldnt make out the actors faces (but if the lady two rows in front of you decided to put a bun on top of her head, thats pretty much ALL you can see anyway. Thanks lady). The seats were super uncomfortable with no leg room. The kid behind me kept bashing her knees into my seat. The line for the bathroom was ridiculous. I waited for the entire intermission and then had to rush back before they closed the doors. My biggest concern, though? If there had been a fire, we would have been trapped and/or caught in a stampede. We were in the balcony, or as the (THIRD) ticket checker told us, up in the air, packed in like sardines. The only exit signs visible to us were down by the stage. It seemed like an awful lot of people for four exits. Although the sound quality was excellent, its definitely my least favorite Belk venue.
Me and my family went here to see Wicked. We had an absolutely amazing time. The staff were incredibly nice and amazing, the building is beautiful. There were plenty of bathrooms to provide for the large amounts of people that were in attendance. 10/10
Great Wicked performance - $200. Seats unfortunately very small, dated, little leg room made them very uncomfortable ! Charlotte needs to Update this much used conveniently located Venue.
The theater is dated. The chairs are not made for big people. Theater needs to be updated. The shows that come are amazing but uncomfortable to watch in the high school auditorium seating.
A little weird being around so many people in one place again!! Great production of Wicked.
Nice improvements. Good staff.
Wicked was so much fun!! We had such a good time. Thank you Ovens Auditorium
Saw Wicked. Everyone was super helpful.
Great venue and easy to get to since it’s right on Independence Blvd. Ovens can support crowds of approximately 2,500 and they can handle everything very smoothly. The parking is joined with Bojangles colosseum next door so there are tons of spaces. In the main lobby of Ovens there are concessions stands, restrooms, coat check, and artist merchandise areas.Very good venue to be able to see from so many spots.
Had a great time seeing Fluffy. I have 1 complaint. Im a curvy girl with hips and the chairs is uncomfortable.
My wife and I saw the Russian ballet Nutcracker here. We had great seats but I didnt see any in the auditorium that would really be bad. Parking was great, directly across the street. Snacks and drinks were sold and were allowed inside the auditorium but there are no cup holders so if you have kids with you as the people next to us did, keep in mind you may be juggling drinks during the performance.
They have completely upgraded the venue. Its extremely nice!
Very clean & comfortable. Nice seating arrangement.
Amazing place, seats comfortable, everything clean, bar near the door
Awesome place to see a show. Great acoustics and clear clean audio from any seat in the house. Parking is great with little to no delay in arriving and leaving. The staff if friendly and accommodating and their drinks are on point. Ive been to two shows here so far and Im looking forward to going back whenever I get the chance.
I bought a bottle of water for $4, they unscrew the cap and hand me the bottle. Ten feet away from where I bought it they tell me I cant take it into the auditorium. I paid $4 for literally nothing.
Uncomfortable, tiny seats. Very steep stairs. We witnessed two people literally fall during one performance. Plus, the lobby is dingy and the parking lot is worse than a gravel pit.
I got my virus shot there they were very fast and very good nice people.
Solid theatre that feels recently renovated
Fluffy was unbelievable. Staff was friendly and professional.
Always enjoyed performing here and watching the performance. A new building connects Ovens and the Coliseum, now Bojangles Arena.
Opening night of wicked 2021+
I enjoy the concerts they have but the walkway overhangs are in serious need of updates. Like walking in a back alley in some places with ugly leaky concrete overhangs. Also who has cheap letter signs anymore, it not old or fancy enough to be classy vintage, even most churches dont have these anymore. Need a modern led screen sign. Id def look to have my events at a diff venue.
You guys are great! The lady that gave me my vaccine was wonderful . I didnt faint!! Thank you Starmed!!
A totally awesome experience
This auditorium is fantastic to see live shows. They handled the large crowd well and had several vendors selling drinks, so the lines werent very long. Saw Hozier here a few weeks ago and the show was amazing! My only complaint is that they use ticketmaster to sell their tickets. Not a problem but they are considered certified resale tickets, and you wont be qualified for any bonus promotions through the artists. We were supposed to get free copies of Hoziers latest CD with our ticket purchase. TM said we dont get them because they are technically resale tickets.
There to receive the first dose of vaccine. Brought back memories of seeing the Charlotte Symphony play when on a school field trip as a child. Decided to choose a flute as a result. Memories!
Great place to see a show
Went to see Death Cab for Cutie. Sound was excellent.Drinks were reasonably priced - $8 for pints of craft beer.My biggest concern going in was the size of seats. Im 63 and 260# and I was reasonably comfortable. We were in the bottom half of the balcony, but from there I dont think there is a bad seat in the building.
Staff was nice loved the show
It was great!!We went to get our drive thru covid-19 screening. I know this is not the information youre looking for, but there it is. The people who were conducting the clinic were fabulous and professional. We are thankful for this service. ☺️
Starmed covid response vacinne clinic happening and wifey and I got our first vaccination. The new breeze way joining ovens and bojangles arena is very nice.
Great place for a show
No air on right side of coliseum but beautiful place to visit for sure
Great experience!
It was pretty good. Thanks.
Awesome concert venue
There for a graduation, spacing was great.
Very good views it would appear from any seats. Easy access to bathrooms and concessions. There are a few snack and drink options. The seats could be a bit larger and further apart. We had trouble even getting our daughters booster seat centered without it sliding off one side or the other.
This is a nice auditorium but it needs a little updating. The seats are narrow with very little leg room. Also it woube nice if it had a better entry set up. You park in the back and have to walk around to the front. Its a long walk, especially for older or handicap people, not to mention in bad weather. They do have good shows though. It beats going uptown.
Ovens is a great venue. Everything is always clean and the sound quality at the shows over attended there is good. Prices seem on par with other venues. There is lots of parking as well, though it is an $8 fee. All in all, I enjoy this venue and am happy to attend events here!
All seats have a good view of the stage and the sound quality was very good. The place is very dated (opened ca. 1955) and could use a face lift. The bathroom was small and the layout made it very hard not to trip over everyone there. The sink hardware was old and difficult to turn on.The seats were very uncomfortable! I am not that tall and my knees were against the back of the seat in front of me. The person next to me was very tall and had to sit at an angle so their knees were not against the back of the chair in front. After a three hour show, my behind was sore and my knee was stiff (even after getting up to stretch at intermission). The show was great, but the atmosphere has a lot to be desired.
We were in row K. Seats were fabulous. The singing voices, particularly Lizas, were wonderful. The sets were terrific, and we were amazed the way they moved around rather than having stage hands setting them up . Everything but the traffic and parking was first class. We just sat down in our seats, and the show started. Well leave more time in the future.
I loved the Celtic Woman show I give them 100 stars! But this auditorium was not hitting on much they did not offer hardly any snacks of any kind. Not everyone drinks mix drinks and such. But that’s not my biggest problem the seats where horrible worst I have ever set in some people did not make all way through the show due to the seats where so horrible. We where literally seating on top of each other. No leg room, no arm room the side of the chairs where digging into your side.I will never watch another show at this Auditorium.Seriously needs help with seating.. my back was hurting so bad when I left I could hardly walk.Bad part we couldn’t enjoy the show and we had pay a lot of money for these tickets for our anniversary getaway for the weekend. And I am short so I had a hard time seeing also due to the seats.
Good selection of food and drink from which to choose.Size of arena means that even in the nosebleeds, you still have a pretty good view. Its size also is big enough to get some good entertainers into addition to regular hockey.Loses points for bathrooms, not enough. Try to go at an intermission... good luck.
In order for me to be able to attend Les Miserables production, I needed to purchase last minute discount tickets. Every one of the staff- the maintenance crew, the supervisor of tickets, the parking attendant all helped me obtain my tickets. I cannot tell you how pleased I am with the staff, the facility ( even though under construction) and the Les Miserables production.
Great venue for 1k+ people.Plenty of room to move about, facility is easy to navigate, and the staff was awesome. Parking was good, and close. If I had one complaint, it would be the entrance is restrictive, and if the weather is off the is nothing to shield a line waiting to get in.
Had been a very long time since I was last here, was surprised at what a great job they did renovating and updating the place. Saw a Checkers game. The game was great, but could do w out them blasting music at every whistle. Overall, a great experience.
Got vaccinated‼️🖤❤🖤 clean and updated facility
