I’m from NY and was in the town for a few days. Needed a hair cut so bad and walked into this barber shop based on the reviews. Jocelyn was exceptionally great, friendly and professional in her work. She paid attention to every single detail I was expecting for. The whole staff seemed to be very welcoming and they all carry a positive vibe around the shop. Will definitely go there if I’m ever in the town again.
Always a top notch experience no matter who you go to! One of the premier destinations for a mens haircut in the city of Charleston. Dont hesitate to give them a try
Walk ins welcome & open on Mondays! Huge plus. Friendly staff + great cuts
We were visiting from out of town. Did a walk in and was taken care of. Great service and professionalism. Employees were professional and nice.
Thank you to the team. I came in with my grooms men for a haircut and beard trim that was kind of last minute. they had us looking so good. hair cuts and beard trims were on point. this might be my new permanent barber thank you again
Best place Ive been to since moving here and Ive tried more than a few.I highly recommend going and seeing Kelsey.I wont go anywhere else or let anyone else cut my hair from now on,my go-to.
Love this place. Great haircut for a great price and all the ladies are good at what they do.
I’m picky with my barbershops, just moved here and needed a quick cut. Well done.
All of the barbers here are fantastic. Its walk-in so you may have to wait a little, but its a comfortable wait.
I went in without an appointment on a Saturday and waited about 20 minutes for a haircut and full shave. I enjoyed the hot towel and warm shaving cream. Barber did a great job with the straight razor, and I had no irritation the next day. I felt like it was a good value for both services.
Polite and efficient staff, I had no wait despite five other customers present.
It was my first time at this barbershop and I was happy that I made that choice of choosing to go here. Liz gave me the exact cut that I wanted, so Id recommend getting a cut by her! Not sure if they give student discount, but they are $22(cash only). Not too bad :)Will go here again!
Simply put, the staff at Broad Street Barber Shop are the best in the tri-county! Regardless which barber you get, you are guaranteed a great cut. It is easy to talk about the big points why they are so great but it is the small things that make them stand out! They take their time to make sure you are comfortable. They make you feel present - you are important to them and that they care. All I can say is dont waste your time with the rest - just go to the best ... Broad Street Barber Shop!
I know some of yall are wondering so Ima just say it, if youre black you might wanna be extra specific on what you want. Not saying theyre bad, but using the same descriptions that I do for a local in Summerville (a temp fade with a shape up) I can get a much better and more crisp cut for just $15. Take in consideration the time at which you go as well because for the last hour the cut took 15 minutes and for a different visit around 3pm it took around 30 minutes from two different people. The 15 minute one was not as good, just being straight up.
Great spot for quick cuts. Very talented barbers in here
Friendly, Clean, Safe. Getting a professional cut here from our favorite stylist is a must. The wait it tolerably and prior appointments can help to reduce further. Professional setting with skilled stylist.
Great place. Super professional. Reasonable prices
Ana did a fantastic job on me. This was my first visit, and I will definitely be returning!
Loved going to this shop and they are always quick to get people in and out through walk-ins, but since Covid they have not been taking proper measures to protect themselves or other customers. Went recently and two barbers had no masks at all, two were wearing face shields (which do not prevent covid), multiple customers did not have masks, and I was asked to take mine off for part of the haircut. While I understand it makes a haircut a little more difficult, it can be done. I felt very uncomfortable and unsafe because it is such a small area with 8+ people close to one another. I should have just left.
Always top of the line service from this place always
They do a great job! Its quick and cheap. What more can you ask for?
Jocelyn is to cutting hair what Michelangelo was to carving marble. Mozart to the piano. Picasso is to the paintbrush. Gretzky to the hockey stick. I walked in as the abandoned church on the street corner and left the Sistine chapel. As I have no natural born heir, she is who I shall entrust my estate to in the event of my untimely departure from this earth. It would be my last act of good faith to this world to provide for her to continue to cut the hair of Charleston’s finest for many generations to come.Seriously she’s the best. I’d go 6 stars but it won’t let me.
Broad street barber shop is the place to be. All of these women are hard working, extremely talented and create an easy going atmosphere that welcomes all. Its natural for people to feel unsure and uneasy after the virus however I felt completely safe as I got my most recent hair cut, all tools and chairs were cleaned before I was seated and masks are welcomed but not required. Ive been coming to this place for years so its a bummer to see this Lachlan guys post as most of it sounds like misdirected anger. Support small businesses!
Good, simple, clean, efficient. What more can you ask for. All for $22. Add good value. Only issue: not everyone wearing masks.
Go here for the absolute best professional haircut and/or a shave (Im talking about a 30 minute shave) in the area. As of 10-22-2020, $22 for the haircut, $30 for the shave.
I have been coming here for about 6 months now. I have never gotten a bad haircut and all the women are fantastic barbers, but Kelsey really stands out to me. Her attention to detail and dedication to getting my hair perfect every time is outstanding. Like I said, all the women are great barbers and I highly recommend getting your haircut here over anywhere else in Charleston.
Always a great cut no matter who does it!
If you need a perfect haircut at an awesome price, Jocelyn is your girl. I have been going to her for almost 4 years now and have never been disappointed. It has gotten to the point where I dont even tell her what Id like done. I sit down in the chair and she knows exactly what needs to be done in order for me to present my best possible self. Anybody I have ever sent to her has said the same thing and continue to go to her as I have. Her skill combined with her entertaining personality make for an unparalleled barbershop experience!
Perfect cut for my sons... Thank you
Great beard trim. These people are PROs, long or short beard they do a great job. Kudos! I came from out of town too so don’t be nervous lol! Good safety precautions as well.
Best barber shop in town in no doubt. Jen, Karen and Kelsey are all fantastic. Good conversation during the haircut, worth the price of admission alone. P.S. wish they did appointments
Was in the area for a few days and needed a haircut. Couldnt have found a better place. Very friendly and offered great advice on a new style I wanted to try out. With their help, it turned out better than I expected.
Been going here for the past 4 years. Never had a bad haircut. Wait can be long since its a popular place just a heads up. All the ladies there are great but Kelsey has always taken the extra time to make sure I left with a great cut.
Best in Town, all talented, and reasonable fee
Easily the best barber shop in Charleston. I have always gotten fantastic haircuts from Jocelyn, and everyone is very welcoming and polite. Prices are quite reasonable. Highly recommended!
I’ve been coming here for years. Hands down, the best barber shop in Charleston. Jen, Abby, and the rest of the staff are awesome. If you want a 5 star haircut at a great price, this is your spot.
My stylist extraordinaire, well my artiste works there. Her name is Ashley and she is superb. I love the location and the vibe of this place. It really is an old fashioned barber shop and its the oldest in Charleston from what I hear (70+ yrs)... they take cash and personal checks so be sure to bring one or the other. Also, being in downtown, why not take a short stroll? Lots to see and do.
Visiting Charleston from Florida and was looking for a place to get a straight razor shave. Found this gem with great reviews and an average price. Called to confirm they allow walk-ins before showing up. Arrived at the barber shop and signed in and waited nearly 45 minutes before my name was called to be told they don’t do straight razor shaves after 3pm. For anyone looking for a shave, just note that you must do so before 3pm that way you don’t have the same experience I did.
Best kept secret in Charleston. Great place for the kids to. Very friendly and professional. And downtown on Broad and King. In and out.
Jocelyn is simply the best. She has been my stylist for 3 years now. She is professional, provides fantastic service, and is an outstanding stylist.
I visited a few barber shops in Charleston before deciding on Broad St. Ive now had my hair cut by 4 different women there and have been very pleased with each experience. Theres free coffee and a wide range of things to read while you wait. They offer quality products there as well that theyll let you try out and show you how to use. Their prices are competitive with all of the other places I checked out. Altogether a great business.
Been going here for over 4 years now. Always friendly, priced fairly, and keeping me fresh. I always recommend Broad Street to my friends. Theres even parking nearby.
Ive been going to Broad Street Barber for over 10 years, and Ive never had a bad haircut. The ladies are welcoming and very knowledgeable.
No matter who you see, you will receive the same quality hair cut each time. And that’s coming from a guy who has hair that’s hard to cut! I have tried several other shops since I’ve lived here and none compare to Broad St. Barber.
Been going here 20 years. Sadly, the stylists are refusing to wear masks now since theyve reopened after the COVID-19 shutdown. Apparently making a political statement about masks. I have elderly people in my family and cant risk their political statement.
Jocelyn does amazing work. I will not go to anyone else to get my hair cut.
I get a haircut here about every 6-8 weeks for the past year and have had great experiences every time. Its a unique shop downtown and its all women cutting hair from what Ive seen (I dont mind--in Richmond I have a guy barber but I know some men want a male barber). Its about $18 for a haircut and cash only. The wait can be long sometimes.
Took both boys and they did wonderful job. Really cool atmosphere if you like that old school feel.
Very quality cut. They do exactly as you ask for your haircut, and also they make it look better than you thought it would look. Very nice ladies as well!
Top notch cut for the hair
Great service, good conversation, and superb haircut that was quick and classic. Non-pretentious setting, with stylists who listen and like to have fun. Also the music playing in background was pretty awesome as well. I will be back because the haircut was far from “meh”.
Abby did a great job as always
Best place in town. Awesome staff.
Great place. Have been looking for a good barbershop downtown. Prior to coming here, my last haircut was really bad. Jocelyn did an amazing job working through the problems and fixing everything that had been done wrong. This is now my new barbershop. Great, friendly people who know what they are doing.
Avoid. Went with my Dad and we both had really bad cuts with different lengths on both sides and hair that sticks out. Guess Ill be wearing a baseball cap until this mess grows out. Cannot understand how theyve gotten any good reviews after what we experienced. Would definitely not recommend.
Liz is the best!
I have had some terrible haircuts in my life, after giving too many second chances to franchise salons. A relative works here, so I decided to make the drive from Summerville - without an appointment for myself and 2 sons. Since, she was already booked for a shave and a haircut over the next hour, we took a gamble with the other stylists. These were the best haircuts Ive had/seen and will not go anywhere else. My trust has been earned!
As a regular here I have liked all my haircuts, until today. Seemed extremely rushed and mostly wanted me out of her chair. Left with much to be desired in all aspects of getting a haircut. Treated poorly to say the least.
Awesome staff. Always have great attitudes. Wait times can sometimes be long and its first come first serve.
My husband, sons and have been coming here for years. I decided to give it a try and had the best haircut Id had in years and it did not cost me $100! My new go to place...I have short straight hair
Great barber shop! I always enjoy going here by the hospitality and professionalism. I also enjoy the classic style shave!
The staff is absolutely amazing!
Guessing Ed D’s the only one who gets insecure in the presence of the ladies who work @BroadSt barber shop. I’ve been getting my hair cut here for over a year. The cuts are great, the staff is friendly & professional, conversation is light & fun. Cowboy up Ed, it’s far above ‘meh’.
Stow the strobe lights and techno shampoo stations at your sisters salon...no need for the flowbie bowl cuts they hand out a supercuts... This the best barbershop in Chucktown period.
Always an Incredible experience, even if theres a wait, its worth it
Consistently the best haircut! Fun atmosphere, always had a blast. Will miss yall!
Excellent Barbershop, reasonably priced and excellent haircut.
Good cuts, friendly staff and fair prices. Ive been once so far and plan on making it my usual spot. Also, they have a Keruig machine for free coffee.
This place was recommended by a friend after several barber shops in Charleston just butchered my hair for the past year. I wish I started out here. excellent service with an even better haircut. I will certainly be going back and telling everyone about this place.
Convenient to work, been going for years.
Only place in town where I get a cut or shave without regret. Outstanding group of barbers in this establishment!
Good cut for a fair price. Might take me a little while to find my new barber, but a good experience overall and everyone else seemed happy with their cuts.
Love the people and the price at this place. Heads up its cash only!
Awesome place to go. I was real picky with my fade and they did it just right. My barber was Jocelyn. She even razored in the hard part I requested. Will definately be going back!
NEVER be too cheap to pay a great stylist. I had gotten the worst haircut of my life from sport clips, and I knew I had to get it fixed ASAP. Went to Jen at broad st barber shop and not only was she a great conversationalist but she fixed my hair so well. I recommend this place to any guy who wants an emaculate haircut. A+++!!!
Broad Street Barber Shop is one of Charlestons best and most reliable businesses. I have been going for years and my family has been going for generations. I have a specific barber that I prefer but if she isnt there even I come in, I still get my haircut because they all do an excellent job. If youre a local in need of a haircut, do yourself a favor and head to BSBS and then go grab lunch at Burbages.
Great barber shop. Skilled staff
I cry after haircuts. They never go well. Today I gave Abby total freedom to cut my hair however she wanted.Im still crying after, but this time theyre tears of joy.See you in a few weeks, Abby!!
Good old fashioned barber shop. All the ladies are great!
This is the Traditional Barber Shop where Charlestonians go to get haircuts.
Great place for the value and nice people. I think they could be a little more up front as to when they close, however I don’t know how to leave 4.5
Best cut I ever had in Charleston l!!
Great mens haircuts at a very reasonable price in Charleston. The barbers are super nice and will cut it any way you like.
They did a great job of cleaning up a bad haircut I got elsewhere. Thank you so much.
The ladies here are hands down the most attentive barbers in town, they are awesome!
The ladies at BSB are hands down the greatest at what they do and for what may potentially be the least expensive haircut in the city outside of Sports Clips and the like, they go above and beyond. Only place I get my haircut in all of Charleston.
Good haircut at a reasonable price.
Ive always thought of getting a haircut as a chore but here it is something I always look forward to. I drive 30 min each way to get my haircut here and its totally worth it! You cant beat the price, service, and straight razor neck shave.
Friendly and fun staff, cool patrons, and great haircuts for a good price. Im from out of town here for a bachelors weekend, but if I wasnt from out of town I would make this my regular shop.
Been hitting broad st for fifteen years since moving to Chas. Best place in town.
Unfortunately, not mask friendly
Jen is awesome and has been cutting my hair for years.
They gave me a great cut, but horrible shave. Also, they jacked up the price for no reason. The prices was listed as $8 for shave and $17 per cut. I had to pay $50. Also, they didnt really shave my neck.
Great staff and haircuts. Jess is the best.
Good neighborhood barber shop. Sometimes has a very long wait.
