The price was good and drop off staff were nice. I recommend them. The only problem was that Burbank airport location at that time 9 pm, only few staff were working and there was a long line which was moving slowly.

Price was great! Longer wait times and minor inconveniences for that benefit. The vehicle we drove was nice, but needed a better cleaning and had personal items left from the previous renter. Towards the end of our trip it was clear the vehicle also needed minor servicing. All in all, nothing I havent experienced from companies that cost twice as much, and I would likely use this company again.

Honestly the car was great.... BUT I had to wait in line for 1.5 hours. It was a joke... if I knew I was going to have 3 workers who also work for budget, avis, payless, and etc checking me and everyone else out their cars I would of gone with someone else to not have to wait that long.... The waiting in line that long was terrible.

We arrived at Burbank airport expecting to turo, but when my phone updated, rates were well over $500 for the weekend. We desperately checked every rental agency and between the enterprise/national, Avis/Payless, and third (who I am certainly forgetting at the moment) none of the rental agencies wanted to even check to see if they had a car for me except for Avis/Payless. I was told I needed to make a reservation online for best pricing, and that my AAA card would help with a discount. Upon reserving and going to the counter I was then told that if I booked with Payless they could actually save me more money than if I used my AAA. So we did and were quickly issued a key, paperwork and sent on our way.The car was fine, little ford escape or something, kinda small. I did note that it had definitely been smoked in before (didnt smell overwhelmingly so) but I was assured they were aware and I would not be charged upon returning it, they also profusely apologized that it was their last car and they felt bad about the smell. Not a deal breaker by any means.Overall it was a quality experience for being without a car and their staff was very friendly. Id use em again over the competition for the level of effort to help us when no one else would alone.

When we wanted to extend our rental, we had to go back into the airport at the crack of dawn. Not able to do so on the phone. When we got there, my son had used the wrong name but the man at the desk couldnt fix it. It had to be cancelled and a new one made. That took another hour and a half, and several lost calls- you just broke the connection multiple times!Not efficient. Not easy. Not helpful.

I loved the car that I was upgraded to. It was enjoyable and had more features than my car. I wish I had it another week but I didnt understand what would have happened if I extended it. I tried to rent another week but once I agreed than the rate increase almost double, so I didnt get it

Ive rented from here multiple times to always average service and fine cars, but this time was horrifying.Worst part: a food wrapper was left in the drivers side door, making me assume the entire car hadnt been cleaned. Id already driven too far to return it, and Im appalled new COVID cleaning guidelines arent being followed.Speaking of, employees need to be trained to follow these guidelines. The man who helped me at the counter was taking his mask on and off the entire time he was helping the person in front of me. After asking him to wear his mask, he responded rudely, but complied. Also, there is a sign at the front that says employees will wear gloves and use the plastic barriers, none of which he was doing. If there wasnt a customer at the other counters, other employees decided they didnt need to wear their masks in this public space...3rd: my car check engine light turned on TWICE. I returned the first car, then on my way back the check engine light turned on again in the new vehicle! I was driving the speed limit and wasnt pressing the vehicles performance.

Possibly the worst experience in car rental. The staff are super unprofessional. I tried to dispute all the additional charges they include because it’s not on their policy, because they say so, condescending because it’s not that much of a fee, they don’t have options for your request like speak with a supervisor or add coverage over the phone. Also have I mentioned they hang up the phone when you challenge them or request to speak with a supervisor. The unprofessionalism!

Zero star if possible.I cannot get a copy of my bill. I do not know how much I have been charged. 1800 number CS person say he does not have ability to look that up. When I call the number printed on my agreement and given to me by aforementioned cs agent on the phone, its for Budget rental and they tell me they absolutely cannot help Payless customers. Worst run about ever. BTW, when I returned the car, agent refuse to print paper bill. The email version is being rejected due to attached computer virus. This is the most ridiculous situation I have been in.. zero mode of communication provided. Contact me

Do not even waste your time. Stay away.. Frustrating business model and unprofessional.I waited 2.5 hours to he picked up, called many times.Shop pretty far ride from airport. Cars are beat up.They charge full deposit ($350) + car rental and you need to wait to eventually get deposit back.I wished I read the reviews before I waisted my time.

This place is incredibly shady. I actually rented the car through Payless on line, but only dealt with Avis employees the entire time. I would never use Avis or Payless again.I rented a minivan from here to do an ikea run. I live a mile from the place so thats why I picked it. I picked up the van from the large parking structure at the airport, was told the keys were in it and it was good to go. I got out to it and sure enough, it looked great. Keys were in it the seats were stow and go so I took a minute to put those down and I was on my way. No one was there at any point to go over the car with me. The only person I saw after the sales counter was a security guard who checked my paperwork and let me out of the lot.I then drove the 5 miles to the Burbank Ikea, bought a couch, drove it the 4 miles to my house, assembled the couch, and drove the van back without any incident.All in all I went a total of about 10 to 15 miles and certainly not anymore than that.When I got back to the lot, Cristal, an employee of Avis was there to check people in. She looked over my paperwork and looked over the car for a minute and then starts looking at a small spot on the windshield. I was puzzled and asked if everything was OK since it was taking longer than it should have already and she asks me if this chip in the windshield was there when I picked it up.After her pointing it out I noticed that there was a tiny chip maybe 1 to 2 mm in size. I said it had to be there already as it definitely didnt happen while I was driving. The ride was so short I didnt even turn music on and I was only at a speed where that could have happened on the highway for maybe 60 seconds. Even a small chip would make a noise and be noticeable when it happened.Cristal then tells me shes gonna have to talk to the night manager, who isnt here, and find out if they need to do a report and asks me if I reported the damage to someone when I picked it up. Well, no I didnt, Cristal. Because I failed to notice a 1 to 2 mm chip that you would have to have an eagle eye to catch, also there was no employee other than the parking lot gate security to speak to at all in the lot.I again say theres no way that occurred while I was in the car, because there wasnt.About 2 hours later I get an email from Cristal saying theyre now reporting this and essentially that theyre trying to pin it on me. I bought full coverage through Allianz regardless but this is still a joke and completely ridiculous. Never rent from Avis or Payless. Never trust anyone named Cristal. If you do have to rent from a business this shady get out a microscope and spend a good 45 minutes checking every single inch of that car so they dont try and pin something on you like theyre doing to me.

Awful service awful people they lie to my face.There’s people are running some kind of scam they rip me off for $100 and I want my money back I asked all the questions I needed to ask where there be any additional fees at the end of the rental Andrew behind the counter said no when I went to return the car I had $100 in additional fees for absolutely no reason. Deceitful extortion that’s my best way to describe this place.

Just returned a Jetta here. Ran really well, overall nice people I suppose (even though I hate how they push the added services, but all rental places do that). The only thing is it looks like the built the whole rental car facility first and then added this company, because all the signs from the counter to where you pick up to where you drop off the car were obviously added later, and its probably the hardest one to navigate in the area. Still, prices were lowest after Fox (wouldnt go with them because of their horrible reviews) and didnt seem to have any issues.

Clean car, ran well. Quick service. It was a little tricky to find the Payless booth and rental car area because their signage is small and hard to find, but otherwise it was a good experience. There were about $20 of airport fees I was not aware of, so keep that in mind. Otherwise it was as good an experience as I could have expected for the price.

Giving this location 4 stars because the tire pressure light came on right as we left for our destination and our rear left tire went almost completely flat before our return trip. Other than that the car was great! The staff was friendly and very accommodating - we had to upgrade from our compact 2-seater to a mid-size vehicle because our luggage wouldnt fit and they gave us no trouble at all and made sure we got what we needed! Easy to check in and easy to check out.

Just had a bad what i would consider a racially motivated experience with this car rental place. I booked a car online, looked at their policy for using debit cards ( I had to use my debit because I accidentally left my credit card in another state while traveling), made sure i read it correctly and then headed to the Burbank location. Once I got there the woman at the counter tells me that she could not accept my debit card because their policy changed March 31st 2017... oh really?!!! Even though she couldnt find an email, flyer or written policy that it had changed! I asked for a manager and he told me that their particular location doesnt take debit. Even after showing them the email i received when i booked the car with the policy clearly written. They wasted 2 hours of my time when they could have easily had the new policy online.!!!I had my mom (who is white) call the location a half hour later to ask them about debit cards. She was told that there may extenuating circumstances that would prevent them from allowing the use of a debit card....HHHMMM, I wonder what those circumstances are!!!!Ive lived in Cali for only a few months and Im finding an overwhelming amount of unnecessary racism.

The employees are great at this location. But this company is AWFUL. Google Payless scams and youll be flooded with information. They hit me with so many hidden fees and fraudulent charges. 1 article in the search stated that BBB gave them an F rating and that they were under review by federal police for fraud. I assure you, the 5 star ratings are either bought, or because the front desk was exceptional and people didnt notice the Savage extra fees. Go with anoyone else. not Payless

When I arrived at the Burbank facility I was promptly greeted and served. Cars were sold out but I had a reservation and my reserved car was ready. While at the counter, another party came to the counter because their car had a problem and Burbank was the closest Payless location to get a replacement. As cars were sold out, prospects for getting a repalcement were slim. But the associate made some calls and got a car released for them. My service was typical, but they received exceptional service. The weekly price for my level of car was the lowest I have ever received in five years of renting at Burbank. The only thing I do not like is the long walk required from the bag claim to the rental car facility in Burbank. It is the worst I have ever seen.

Leave some time for the pick up because you have to walk nearly a quarter mile to the Payless Rental counter at the far end of the airport property. The car looked and smelled clean. The check in - check out process was an easy and pleasant experience.

Horrible they over charged me when I extended the vehicle it was 21 dollars a day I had the car 1 month should have been around 700 after fees and taxes instead they charged me 2200!!# They said the rental per day was 260 for extended in small print It should have been 21 a day not 260. I didnt buy the car. 1400 extra they just took!!

Terribly slow service. The people are not engaging, friendly or helpful. My husband had to return a car a day early due to an emergency. We didnt have the car for even 48 hours and they refused to only charge us for 2 days (like another other reputable rental company would do) and charged us for 3.Lastly, for a small midsize Nissan Sentra the advertised price was $18 per day... after all of their excessive fees, for just 3 days charged it was $197!!! Thats not even including insurance.Save your money/time and go anywhere else!!

I needed to return the car one day late and at Orange County instead of Burbank where I rented it. I called their Burbank office (took hours to get someone to answer the phone) and they told me I could return it in Orange County for a $75 fee, plus the cost of the extra day. When I got to the Payless lot by the Orange County airport, it was run by Fox Rent a Car and they refused to accept the car. They said they only accept Payless cars rented at LAX. After a long time, they said to call Avis which is a parent company of Payless. Avis said I could return that car at their on airport location so I did that. Now Payless is charging me $800 because they said it took them a long time to get the car back.They gave me wrong information, are hard to get through to on the phone, and are dishonorable. I will never use this company again and I recommend anyone who uses them to be very careful. They are fly by night and have terrible customer service and do not admit their own errors.

Easy rental! The gentleman that assisted us that morning of the 17th of this month March, was very cooperative and was able to give us a better deal than the one we were looking at online, lol! After frustration of trying to rent from others which were too high, he finally released that frustration and easily did it and we were able to get a beautiful Dodge suv which we enjoyed for two days for a great dealtoo and fully insured, although I had my full insurance too! Thanks! I will definitely go back to you and reccommend my friends to do so! Just one tiny problem, Im trying to call the phone but its a fax? Trying to ask something important about payment, cant get through :/

NEVER RENT with this company! 4 months after my rental they have randomly charged my card 50usd twice! When i asked customer service about it they said i have to snail mail their corporate office and wouldnt even give me an email address to sort out my complaint! I turned my car in before 7:00 AM. They were not open yet, so an Avis agent checked my car in. He said that he would give Payless my information and they would email me a receipt. That has been three days ago. I have been calling them, but they do not answer their phone. I need the receipt for billing purposes.
