The shuttle service to & from the airport was phenomenal, they were willing to extend my rental due to flight changes, and then when an extension wasnt necessary, completely refunded the extra day charge AND all applicable fees with NO HASSLE. Literally one phone call and 3-minutes later - totally resolved! Also, the cost of using their I-Pass is far & away cheaper than any other rental companys and a really important add-on when all tolls are non-contact in Illinois right now. Moving forward, this will be the company I check & book with first anytime I travel!

Beware locals! I rented from here through carrentals.com and got what I thought was a good deal! That is until I showed up to pick up my vehicle and they said the rate I was quoted only applied to people from out of town. He said it’s usually $40 extra/day but he’d “give” it to me for $10/day. If that’s your policy, then you should notify your renters before they show up. Another woman walked in and he said the same thing to her. So, is there really a $40/day policy or are you just making it up to get as much out of me as you can?!Since I was leaving town that day I didn’t have the opportunity to walk away and I paid it. The car was fine-not super clean (we found garbage and leftover water bottles under the seats) but worked well. I would definitely call ahead if you’re a local to find out how much you will really be charged!

They have way to many hidden fees. We had a car on hold and once we got there in order to use a debit card, we needed certain bills for prove of address. We couldnt just use a phone bill, they were very specific. Then we were told without those specific bills the 200 dollar deposit would go up to a 500 dollar deposit. We were told it would be 150 dollars extra if we used someone elses credit card. Mind you the car was small and looked like it was falling apart. We went to avis budget at midway airport instead. We got a rav4 SUV for way cheaper then that little peice of crapp they were trying to push on us.

Never rent from them. I had a reservation and when I landed and turned back on my phone I had a text that they dont have any cars available. They lied and said they had called and left me a message the previous day (they didnt) and basically strung me out to dry. The point of a reservation is to have a vehicle reserved. Unreliable and terrible customer service. Id give them zero stars if I could. I just had to spend $100 on a rideshare to get to the west burbs for a funeral. Unacceptable.

Derrick was helpful in that he gave me a larger car for only $15 for a weeks rental. Moreover, even though I had to go over the 150 miles/day, and told him I might when checking out on the front end, called before dropping off and he waived the excess fee - which was really appreciated!Giving 4 instead of 5 stars given location hard to get to going south on Cicero, not everyone was wearing masks when I picked up the car, and the condition of the car itself with numerous dents, etc. (tho when dropping off car there were a ton more cars in the lot which all seemed to look better).

DO YOURSELF A FAVOR....STAY AWAY!! If I could give them a zero I would. My rental smelled bad, it was obvious that this car had been in a previous accident and was pieced together badly. After 2 days of driving the brakes began to go out, the tire pressure went down several times, and the car would shake when going over 55mph. To top it all off, the drivers side door wouldnt lock with the key pad. And how did I discover that? My purse and tablet were stolen from the car after I secured the door and went into a store. I called the office and informed them but of course they had no interest in helping the situation as I did not use their insurance. The only thing he offered was to trade it out for a different hunk of junk; which I would have to drive 2 hours back to their location to do. No apologies no offer of a free rental day....nothing. So, learn from my experience this place is an accident waiting to happen. This place should not have the ability to rent cars. Do yourself and your family a favor....STAY AWAY!!

I was asked, if you owe more than $200 on your election bill, how do we know youre going to pay if something happens go the car. I had already paid for the car and the extra insurance.....by Al.This was the worst experience Ive ever had. I rented through a third party. I received the wrong number. I wasnt able to rent a car because i lived in the city and was behind on my electric bill. Who the hell isnt behind on something in this crazy time. However, they would have let me rent the car if I allowed them to put a $750 hold on my card. I was headed to a funeral and almost allowed them to do it. I changed my mind simply on principal. Untill the end of time, Ill let people know to NOT rent from these people just on principal.

I rented a car from Rent A Wreck on Thursday, October 15, 2020 and received a confirmation call the day before. Derrick made sure that I was very much welcomed when I got to Chicago. Up til the day I left I received nothing but professionalism from everyone. I left my wallet in the car after I dropped it off at 500am. I called and someone called me right back and Derrick came to the office at 0630 on the dot. The entire team is the truth. I will use them again.

Rent a Wreck is a car rental company that gives the average person an opportunity. You do not have to be in possession of a major credit card. There are many individuals who are dealing with credit issues and do not qualify for an American Express of Discover card. It didnt take me long to decipher that I needed a rental company that works with individuals from all soci-economical backgrounds. The only requirement that may present a challenge is the $350 deposit that is used as collateral. Other than that, I am pleased with the vehicle I rented and appreciate the fact that I am not restricted as Avis, Enterprise, and Dollar rental car have regulations that exclude a vast majority of the population.

Affordable rentals and super friendly people!! I will definitely be renting from them again. I was very impressed. Just be aware that the business is about 2.5 miles from Midway and traffic is terrible around rush hour time. All the employees were very Friendly and helpful but LaFay was exceptional. Normally I might get a bit annoyed with it taking 45 minutes to go 2 miles but she made the time so pleasant and calm.

I fly into Midway several times a year and mistakenly rented at the airport for a bundle deal, only to regret my decision. The agent gave me a significantly higher price than the bundle deal quote, and it was a serious hassle getting the price originally quoted. That and the painfully long line to begin with and it was a truly aweful experience.I have used Rent A Wreck on three separate occasions now and each and every time Ive been treated respectfully and professionally. They pick me up from the airport and shuttle me back, and it actually seems quicker than renting at the airport when its all said and done.They have also been very accommodating when Ive been behind schedule and made the return process quick and easy and got me back quick and in a hurry. I highly recommend these guys and will not make the mistake of renting at the airport again.

Their rates are outstanding and their customer service is excellent. I bought their gas package so I would not have to fill up the car when I returned it. Also if your going to be using toll roads, buy their toll package. And its worth it to buy their collision insurance so you can have peace of mind. All that combined is still considerably cheaper than the other rental car companies.

I rented from this company because i heard good things from friends but when i got to the establishment there is a young man that manages this location that came off as racist i felt very much so discriminated by the accusations that i heard him make towards another black customer was very disrespectful. i still rented the vehicle i came in on a flight the shuttle bus driver was awesome however the language and the unprofessional accusations that this young man made was just tasteless and i will be writing a letter to the better business bureau about this as well the young man name is Al and he is Arab..😡 Very Very disappointed that he is the manager of a very good business that does have very nice vehicles for a cheap price. However i WILL NOT BE RENTING from this business again as long as HE is managing!!!

This is my new go to for airport rentals! A shuttle picked me up at Midway, brought me to car lot (maybe 10 minutes), got my rental (nice clean little car), and was on my way in no time. The guys at the shop were friendly and got me in and out quick. The prices were the best I could find as well.

They were very courteous. They always made sure we had everything we needed. They even came out to make sure we got inside when it was raing. We will be using them again when we come back.

I love that they provide shuttle service to and from Midway Airport. The desk staff is extremely nice and personable. The locks on the vehicle we rented would randomly lock and would not let the passengers out until I pressed the unlock button three to four times. The car was fairly clean except for the glass in the trunk. Despite the hiccups with the car, we will probably rent from them again on our next trip to Chicago.

Be very, very careful about what you order as a vehicle through here. Apparently their prices do not match online versus in person.Got a compact (which we ordered a Medium-sized sedan), and they tried charging us way more than what we ordered through their site.

I would never recommend this place to anybody rented a car for birthday vacation on our way got pulled over on expressway and hounded for 1hr because the plates on car was expired got lots of tickets in different state when I came back from my weekend vacation on the way to return car got pulled over again for same issue expired plates car was towed to impound and had to find a ride in cold next day went on to explain what happened with car they called us liars even tho we showed tickets when we told them plates were expired they pulled out their own paper work that showed plates werent expired but we had tickets showing they were they wouldnt let me get my 700.00 deposit bk because car was towed due to their plates being expired employees were very rude and not helpful also seen that this was not the 1st incident of this kind wish I wouldve done my research before renting. 700.00 is a lot for a single mother to just lose the prices were reasonable but this is not a good business will never refer anyone here

Realistically, we wanted to save money...but does that mean safety doesnt come first?Before renting from this company I went to their company website to do some research. Rent-A-Wreck, really? The name should have tipped me off but the explaination for the company name gave me hope that it was just catchy marketing.When we landed at Midway International Airport, per our print out reservation, we were told to call the office and someone would come pick us up. An unmarked car, and driver without a uniform, came and got us after reaching us on our cell phone. The drive was about 10/15 minutes from the airport due to traffic. When we got to our destination, we went over the basic paperwork, gave our $100 deposit and proceeded to do an inspection of the car that was pulled up for us.We walked around the car noting multiple scratches, dings and dents. Once in the car, and ready to drive off, a strong perfume smell tried to cover up the non-smoking policy someone had previously ignored. On the dirty/sticky side, we tried to keep an open mind about the next 5 days wed have this car.In summary...the first day, the control panel on the right passenger door came up when my boyfriend wanted to control his window. The second day, the right windshield wiper flew off while driving in light rain. We wanted to return the car and get another one, but didnt want to take valuable time away from our family vacation. On the third day, the AC started making a loud clicking noise when first starting the car. Throughout the week, the car would kick back when trying to accelerate, eventually showing a red light on the dashboard. By the fourth day, it was just plain comical. We were thankful we left really early and were able to drop off the car on the last day of our trip. After waiting 45 minutes, we finally got a ride back to the airport with another disappointed couple, with just enough room to squeeze in our luggage.All in all, we will not be renting a car from this company again in the future.

Definitely a place to avoid, even with the cheaper prices. I made a rental reservation with them during Christmas because it was by far the cheapest option. They are not in the airport directly and I knew that going in, and the site is not far from the airport at all. When we arrived and I called to tell them I needed a shuttle, I was told that they do not have any cars....But I made a reservation. Yea, sorry we dont have any cars.I hung up and dialed the corporate line and was told by the corporate rep that he would call, but since they are independent franchises, there wasnt much he could do at corporate. A few minutes later, they call and tell me they found a car for me and sent a shuttle. When we got there, I was filling out the necessary paperwork with one of the reps and the owner is nearby tell us how lucky we were that someone returned a car. Anyway, car ran fine, no problems with billing or anything like that. But we found out that they do not have a 24 hour shuttle service, only during their business hours. So if you have a flight before they are open, you are on your own. They also, do not have a drop box. So since we had a 6am flight, we had to drop off the car during business hours the day before and get a ride to the airport that morning.Overall, the only way I can recommend using this service is if you are flying in and flying out during business hours and you can get some sort of written guarantee there will be a car available when you make the reservation.

This location is GREAT and bigger then the location in Hammond but no matter which one I go to I receive the same treatment. The staff is always friendly and professional and make sure Im satisfied when I leave. I prefer them over the major rental places and would refer them to everyone I know.

The people here were nice. The car was clean and in good condition, NOT A WRECK. But 2-stars only as it was not a truly less expensive option. Upon returning the car, there was no shuttle to the Midway airport. We had to pay $15 for a Lyft. The rental also had only 75 miles free.

I just recently rented a car from rent a wreck....they are awesome. I needed a car last minute because i was denied at budget and was due to leave that day for my sons graduation in Alabama. Mohamed was awesome!!! I got my car and was in and out in about 20 mins. I will definitely rent from them again.

They added a $71 extra charge onto my total for booking through Kayak, when I did NOT book through Kayak. Ive been worried about this for 3 weeks now, and Ive called them 4 times to clarify. Each time I call they say to call back when a manager gets in, or theyll call me back within 14 days (but they never did after I waited 14 days). FINALLY after weeks, I get through to a manager and she says the charge was for the miles I put on the car. This is understandable, but this business doesnt behave professionally and my attempts to contact them with simple but serious questions are completely disregarded. Would not rent here again, and I hope they take their customer service more seriously.
