The only positives about this complex are that it is close to the campus and that all of your utilities are included in the rent. Thats about it though. Before moving in, all residents fill out a housing form so that they can match you with someone compatible. I doubt that they ever even looked at those forms. My roommate and I were not compatible in anyway. She refused to clean anything in the apartment, saying that it was my job to clean everything. I never saw her use any of her cleaning supplies that were in our hall closet. But apparently when I cleaned, I did not do it how she wanted it, which would just cause her to try and instruct me on how to clean. Half the time while I was living there, her boyfriend also lived with us, making the space cramped. Her boyfriends daughter would also end up staying at the apartment alone. I would walk from my room to find a little girl alone in the living room! Apparently they thought that I was a live-in babysitter. My roommate would also allow her boyfriend to use my personal belongings, so I ended up hiding all of my things in my bedroom. At one point, her boyfriend menaced me (cornered me in the kitchen) and I decided that enough was enough. When I went to management, they said that there was nothing they could do about it. I was confused; one of their tenants feels that their safety is at risk and you cant do anything about it? Thats messed up! I could have continued living there until the end of August but moved out as soon as I could because I was tired of being screwed over. In conclusion, dont live here...ever.
I loved staying in falcon landing. I actually lived there for all 2 years of my MA program. Its nice that utilities are included in rent and the apartments are spacious. Its also close to campus and the leasing process was easy to navigate, especially for someone who couldnt afford traveling to BGSU again to tour apartments. Management is pretty friendly and responsive. The only problem I had was an extremely incompatible roommate even though I filled out a roommate matching form. She ended up moving out based on her own will and I got paired with someone more compatible.
Pretty okay. Never had a problem. If you are a grad student and dont have the ability to apartment and furniture hunt, its a good option for your first year.
Giving this apartment complex one star is generous. First off the promise that you will be living with a grad student or university employees is a lie. My roommate graduated last semester and has no affiliation with the university and as stated in the contract that tenants sign one has to be affiliated with the university to live in the complex. In addition, when I brought up the fact to the complex’s administration that my roommate had graduated and continued to stay, generally just being a bad roommate (ie staying up all night blasting loud music and claiming the apartment was his because he moved in first) they did nothing. All that they offered me was a more expensive apartment instead of addressing the problem head on. They also don’t read the roommate matching forms, and just put random people together. My roommate and I have nothing in common in any of the categories that were on the questioner. The roommate they matched me with was 9 years older than me and like I stated before no mediation was attempted on the administrations part. The living accommodations are very different than the showing room that is located in the front office and the promise of air conditioning in the apartment only extends to an air-conditioning unit in the living room with nothing in the bedrooms. For what you get its overpriced and you could find a much cheaper residency elsewhere in town. Limited parking space in the back that its gets so bad that often you have to park in the overflow parking at the church next door. The only pro is that there are washers and dryers in each apartment. Falcons Landing is a typical example of a slumlord realtor the only difference is its run by the university. Avoid at all costs.
