Upon a friends recommendation, I had highlights & a cut at Hair Elite. The owner, Alaine, was heavy-handed with, and over processed my highlights. The next morning, I also woke up with a burning sensation on my scalp. I felt her $175 rate was overly pricey for a very poor service and a salon environment that was messy, and had other patrons hair on the floor and on my chair.When I went elsewhere for a repair, the experienced stylist additionally pointed out the many technical errors including foil slippage and blotchy application. She also corrected my hair cut, which was not balanced.I was not happy at all with my cut or highlights at Hair Elite, will not go there again, and do not recommend their hair services.

Worse service ever! took my daughter to get her hair done and get purple hair. the lady told us that blue was the same as purple but obviously not. please make sure you step up for yourself when they try to “fix” their problem

The salon is uncleanly, overpriced and the stylist was inattentive and rushed. Im not sure they even know how to properly cut hair. Do not come here, simple as that.

By far the nicest place Ive been in Boulder. The owner is extremely nice, all new equipment. Highly recommend!!

As a longtime customer at Hair Elite (and loyal customers to Al), I can’t believe I have to write this review. Please take the time to read this.After seeing continuous declines in Al’s professionalism and customer care of the years, his behavior today topped it all. I came in for my scheduled haircut, only to be met with disappointment by Al that I was “only here for a haircut”. He then wanted to convince me not to have my hair washed, even though this has always been how he has cut my hair. After he complied, he cut my hair the fastest he has ever cut it, paying little attention to details. During this time, he proceeded to trash talk other customers, belittled the owner of the salon on how she is full of “BS”, and mentioned how he hated the salon anyway and didn’t even think he would be working there much longer. He was extremely racists to a customer that came in during this time, declining to schedule her because “black hair is so hard to work with and if she couldn’t pay the price, he couldn’t do it”. At no time did this customer ever mention that price was the issue. Al continued to brag about how he has received so much education and knows exactly what he is doing, that it was making me very uncomfortable. He finished my hair cut, used only one product, even though he typically uses multiple products, and dried my hair with the blow drier and his hands. I asked if he would be using the round brush (which he has done every single time prior to this) and he angrily replied, “no because you have to pay more”. I have never experienced this behavior from him.My sister had an appointment right after me. Her and I both wanted to explain to Al what haircut she wanted, and he yelled at me and said, “Don’t talk! I know what she wants”. This was so rude and uncalled for, I didn’t even know what to say. He wouldn’t let my sister speak either. I went to run some errands while she received her haircut. During this time, she says Al yelled at her about how we were control freaks about our hair, how he doesn’t like when people tell him what to do with their hair, how our tips sucked, how he didn’t need our money and that our mother is the reason why we are such bad control freaks. My sister was speechless. For the last several years, we have gone above and beyond with our tips, besides that I tip based on customer service. When I went to pick my sister up, he charged us $120, which did not include any products or proper blow-drying. After I paid, and even gave him a tip, he told us we needed to find someone else to cut our hair as he could no longer do it. Again, I was speechless. Al practically harassed and begged us to take his cell phone number to make sure he could keep us as customers when he left Hair Elite. He is extremely two-faced, and as someone with a background in Psychology, I could go on and on about Dissociate Identity Disorder…This behavior is unacceptable and I am sad to say that Hair Elite will be losing 5 great customers. What a shame that this is how he represents the salon he works for. He clearly has anger towards his job that he should not take out on his paying customers.
