Brittany was amazing! She asked very specific questions about how I wanted my haircut and walked me through what she was doing each step of the way. She was very friendly and gave me a few suggestions on how I should style my hair. Everybody was pretty friendly and it felt like I was welcome there. I Will definitely get haircuts from this place often!!

I imagine the cuts here are probably good. However, I was a little surprised today when I was told that the shop was completely booked for the rest of the day, because there were zero people waiting and zero people getting haircuts when I walked in. Im not sure the walk ins welcome sign is appropriate.

As a woman in Boulder your options are to pay $60+ at a hair salon for a trim or go to the barber joint and pay half the price, a fair price. I made an appt with Brittany and she was AWESOME. Super friendly and although she does prefer to cut mens hair, she had no problem trimming a good 5 inches off of my hair for me. She was wearing her mask and everything was nicely socially distanced. The only other people in the shop was another barber and 1 customer. I felt completely comfortable with their cleaning methods. I highly recommend going to the barber joint for a womens cut.

As a black man in Boulder, I struggled looking clean until I started getting cuts from The Barber Joint. Hope was the first barber I ever had here. One of the best barbers Ive had in my life. Great conversation lively place and feels like the barbershop I had growing up in the suburbs. The hairdressers here are super nice, listen to you, and give great advice on how to help you with your hair in and out of the chair. Its great seeing them grow in their location and see them become the busiest spot on The Hill.

I had a great experience getting my hair cut by Megan. She was very knowledgeable and was very good about letting me know the mask procedure during my cut. I really enjoyed the affordable prices and the chill ambiance. Would definitely recommend!

Leslie and Ricky have done a great job building a positive reputation and a super team of stylists. Each is highly skilled and has clearly been well trained and has the experience to handle any request. I highly recommend making an appointment; they are popular enough now that while they do take walk-ins, you could be waiting a while.

I would give this place a 5 star review FIVE times if I could. I walked in close to the shops closing, and within minutes was being helped. In addition to performing a last minute haircut for me, they still took the time to give me a razor shape. Im ridiculously happy with haircut, the prices, and the people. A really nice place to get your hair cut. Friendly people and great service. They are on the slow side but this is mostly because they have more customers than they can turn through and they really take their time. I got my haircut by Ricky and he did a great job, they really take their time and focus on the quality of the cut rather than how many people they can cycle through. One of the better hair cuts I have ever had and I will be sure to go back.

Both my uncles own barbershops out east so I have pretty much been going to barbers my entire life. When I saw a place called the Barber Joint I figured I could get a traditional mens cut from someone who is capable with the clippers. Wrong! I knew I was in trouble when the first thing my barber asked me was what number I wanted. What the hell? She snapped on one of those clipper guards and cut away. Those plastic guards are sloppy, they leave uncut hair between the gaps and my hair was not really faded, pretty much the same length on the sides. Every barber I have been to asks me what length I would like my hair, how high I would like my fade and they use the metal blades which cut much cleaner. The straight razor shave on my neck was nice but it takes more than the ability to shave a neck to call yourself a barbershop. I also thought they were very overpriced. I was going to ask for a shampoo and maybe a cleanup on my short beard but that would have brought the price to nearly $40, no way. Ill keep looking. If youre looking for a traditional mens haircut from a barber I really cant recommend this place.

I have been getting my haircut here for awhile now and always walk away satisfied. If you work close to the hill or are a student looking for a good haircut at a decent price, do yourself a favor and check this place out.

Its been a pleasure. I get a classic crew cut and a beard shape up. I saw Megan. her lines are sharp and even. Her fades are subtle and clean. She is very intuitive when it comes to styling. Everytime she has made a suggestion it has worked out better than I could have imagined. Shes really about her business.

Decent little hair shop. I never make an appointment, but I am usually able to walk in and get a quick haircut done. Of course, if school is in session then it sometimes gets crowded, especially Thursday afternoon through Friday and Saturday nights.

I have been getting my hair cut here for the past 2 years. I dont live in Boulder anymore and I still get a cut everytime I am in town. All the barbers are awesome and the vibe here is great. Come in here to get my haircut, I know better to ask about razor fades, because it seems only one or two people there know how to do them. I was told to come in the next day, when they would have someone there to do it. They always ask if I have an appointment but never seem to be able to make one for me, they just tell me to come in whenever. I even made sure they would be open, and was assured they would be there til 8. Got there as soon as I could at 6, I live and work in Estes Park, and was told that the guy that could do it was on his way out and wouldn’t be cutting my hair. I just drove an hour for nothing, again. This happens every other time I come here. Last time it’s going to happen again. Taking my business elsewhere.

I love the barber joint! Leslie has been cutting my hair for about 2 years now and I get stopped about once a week with people asking me where I go and I have several friends that have switched to her as well. She is great with color and style and always listens when I am ready to mix it up a bit and want a little change. I love the laid back atmosphere in the shop and there is always fun conversations going on. I look forward to going and always come away smiling.

I was always pretty happy with my cuts when they first opened, but they seem to have gone steadily downhill. I understand a fledgling business needs employees, but it seems they will hire anyone. The end result has been a mix of cuts from average to less than average. In my book quality is every bit as important in employees as quantity, if not more so. One of the owners Rick is always consistent and a good guy, I hope they get this figured out soon. In the mean time, I cant in good conscience give them a top recommendation.

Im in my fourth year at CU and Ive been coming to see Ricky and Leslie since the second week of my freshman year. Their attention to detail and care for their customers satisfaction on a personal level (for the extremely reasonable rates that they offer) makes them the best place in Boulder to get your haircut. Not only are these two talented, they have a keen sense for who can cut hair. On the few occasions theyve been too busy to fit me in, Ive been lucky enough to have other members of their staff cut my hair with the same precision. I have and will continue to recommend the Barber Joint to anyone I talk to.

Pretty average, especially for close to $25.00 with a tip. My stylist just cut the sides with guards, trimmed the top, matched them up and I was on my way. I didnt feel like I had the barbering experience you would expect from a place called the Barber Joint. This is not an authentic barbershop at all, a lot like the franchise places, but more expensive. Definitely better options for better barbers in this town.

Have visited this place a handful of times and every experience has been great. Yvette is awesome- the only instruction Ive ever given is to do what she thinks works, which has been a fireproof plan for a great cut. Highly recommend.

I really wanted to like this shop. Yes, the people are friendly. I would expect that from any business. Yes, they play good music and the cutting chairs are very cool too. The problem is they just didnt do a good job on my haircut. Granted, my hair is not easy to cut, Ive had more than one bad cut in my life. My hair is very straight, thick and dark. Combine that with my white scalp and apparently that makes for a tricky high and tight. I guess it was too much for my young stylist. My fade was uneven, to the point of looking blotchy. Instead of the smooth, graduated cut I like, I left with several low spots and shadows. I didnt feel my girl had much experience with shorter military style cuts. Im all for a fun shop, but where the rubber meets the road Im looking for a good haircut, not to be entertained or meet new friends. They may be ok at longer hair I dont know, but I wont be back for another cut.

There is no other place I want to get me haircut. The owner Leslie is the nicest and a really fun person to talk to. I try to get her to cut my hair every time I go. When I cant, I get one of her equally skilled barbers that nail my haircut every time. They have the know how to nail any haircut you ask for, and will use tricks you may not know about to make it even better. Theyre the best kind of people and they know what theyre doing. I wouldnt go anywhere else!

Leslie not only knew exactly what she was doing, but she showed true artistry and craftsmanship in her work and helped give me exactly the look I wanted. I have a large bushy beard and rock and his team are the only ones I will let touch it. I tried other barbers in the past but I found myself going home and touching up their work myself. Rick has always killed it for me and at an affordable price as well.

In a word inconsistent. I have been here three times The first cut was pretty good, maybe a little on the short side, but nothing I couldnt live with and it gave me a little extra time before my next cut. Id say 4 stars. My second cut was pretty bad, hard thick line on my neckline, not my usual taper and I felt like my stylist was rushing it, maybe 2 stars. I went back a third time hoping to get the same results as my first cut. No deal, not as smooth and finished looking, shorter than I asked for. Not awful by any means, but not exceptional, 3 stars for this one for an overall 3 star average. Would I recommend The Barber Joint? Judging from my experiences Id have to say maybe if youre the gambling type, its a roll of the dice.

Walked in without appt, there were 3 barbers cutting hair and no one else waiting. Took 45 minutes before any of the 3 finished their cuts, then someone with an appt came in and jumped me (and two others that arrived after me) in line. Understandable because we didnt have appointments, but then the second barber finished her cut and had an appointment in ten minutes and said shed take me if he didnt show. Unacceptable to wait almost an hour for a basic haircut without being warned that appointments were on the way and it would be a long wait. Another customer and myself left after being told wed have to wait at least ten minutes (and a lot more if the appt showed) for a cut.Unprofessional barber shop and barbers - there is no excuse to allowing a nearly 1 hour wait and not at least providing some warning to walk-ins about upcoming appointments.

I have a husband, two sons, a nephew and foreign exchange student who all get their barbering done at the Joint. Im personally very picky about who touches my hair, so I always book an appointment with the owner, Leslie, but the entire staff is great. We always leave feeling very happy with our service and our hair, eyebrows, necks, faces.... Its a fun yet professional atmosphere, and I recommend it to everyone.

Best barber shop with great atmosphere!

I came here yesterday, and I got the worst haircut since I moved in to Boulder. One of my friends suggested this place to me, but apparently, this place has several barbers. However, not all of them are good. When the barber told me what I want, I showed her a picture of what I want for my hair, mustache and beard. She, surprisingly, gave it a quick look and she said ok. I tried to show her the picture again, but I felt she was frustrated and she said ok. As expected, the haircut I got at the end did not match what I really wanted at all, which made me so angry about that. In addition, after she finished the haircut, she tried to praise the haircut she made and was intended to finish and stop without doing anything for my mustache and beard, which made me even more angry since it was obvious she did not pay any attention to what I showed her in the beginning. Moreover, she charged me $32 at the end, which was the most expensive charge for on of the worst haircuts I got in Boulder and probably in my whole life. This was my first visit to this place, and it, of course, will be my last one. The whole experience was really bad unbelievably.

I stopped by because I really needed a haircut for the next day. The website says they close at 6, I leave work at 5:30. Im not far away but I knew it would be close. Called, no answer but again the voicemail said open until 6, too busy to get to the phone? I get that. I hate to be the late guy, but I wasnt too happy with my cut somewhere else last time and they are not too far out of my way home. I almost killed myself on my bike trying to get there on time. Pulled up at maybe twenty till six, it couldnt have been much later than that and they were closed. No sign on the door, nothing on the website or voicemail to indicate they would not be open or were closing early. Thankfully, I found a place nearby that took good care of me. Ive found my new shop, and it wont be one that doesnt care enough about their customers to let them know they wont be open.

As a black man I’m really particular about who cuts my hair. Having just recently moved to Boulder, I was looking for a place to get a tight fade without driving all the way to Denver. I had almost given up hope. Then I found Ricky @ TheBarberJoint!Ricky’s technique is on point. Whether you are looking for A classic fade, Taper fade, Box Fade or any other haircut, Ricky is the Man!

I’ve had good experiences here. But I’ve had Megan cut my hair 3 times and it’s been a total disappointment. I say use a #3 she uses a #2. I tell her to cut my hair a certain way she says it’s going to look stupid. She also is against letting you look in the mirror while she cuts your hair.Other barbers are amazing tho.

Always have a great time here, the girls are hilarious and always give great customer service and haircuts. Jenny always knows what I like; All I gotta do is say, “Slice me up.” Dess is always lining up some dudes with cleanest, freshest, bringing a whole new meaning the word “straight”, kind of line. I was expecting more judging from the reviews, maybe too much. First off, the shop itself is awkward. The chairs are lined up in a hallway like fashion with only a wall and no mirrors behind the chairs. Most barbershops I have been to have mutiple mirrors so the barber can see the work being done through multiple angles. It felt claustrophobic, rather like being cut in a hallway. The staff is young and unfortunately my girls inexperience showed in her work. Their web site says over 70 years combined experience, not sure how they came up with that number as the girls all look to be in their twenties. My cut was choppy, and my fade was much higher than I generally wear it. I look like a light bulb, too short and too high on the sides for my thick hair on top. I know people new to the profession have to start somewhere, but I would prefer it not to be on my hair and not for $27.00 including the tip.

Lousy service and hair cut from owner. Ricky, the owner, kept checking his phone and texting during my hair cut. The sides and back of my hair were not even and, when I asked him to even it up, he got visibly annoyed and basically checked out on his phone. I ended up going to another salon that day to get my hair re-cut. I DO NOT recommend this salon.

Just moved to Boulder, first haircut here and I wasn’t disappointed. Ricky gave me one of the best fades.

I was not too happy with my haircut. Its pretty basic, long clippers on the side and long on top. My cut was not blended well into the top. There were very obvious areas where my hair was too long and the overall outcome was choppy and heavy. I went elsewhere to have it evened out. After paying $22.00 for a cut, then paying to get it fixed, I cant say I recommend the Barber Joint.

Disappointing. Sad attempt at a mens barbershop, over priced for average stylists. I explained exactly what I wanted, its the same cut Ive worn for a few years, short fade into a light weight line, longer on top. There was no fade involved here, just a high cut to my part line. As for the top, Ive been growing it out for several months and now have to start from scratch, she cut off almost twice as much as I asked her to. Save your money and your hair, go elsewhere.

Anyone who has spent any time at all in a barbershop knows the difference between a barber and a hairstylist. Just because you cut hair with clippers doesnt make you a barber or a barbershop. Its an entirely different skill set. Very misleading.

Stopped in today to get cleaned up after I got a terrible haircut yesterday going somewhere else. Hope hooked it up and gave me one of the best haircuts Ive ever had. I wouldnt go anywhere else in Boulder.

New in town and looking for a new barber to keep my monthly fade tight. Ill have to keep looking. My old barber back home took well over a 1/2 hour to cut my hair, used a clipper over comb technique, checked it out from different angles, and rocked one hell of a taper. Here I was out in fifteen minutes tops, plastic clipper guards, and she never once looked at my cut in the mirror. Its shorter at the bottom, but not tapered, just cut from a short guard. Not my kind of barbershop at all. This is a salon that does clipper cuts, with the same kind of plastic guards they use at Super Cuts. Save your money.

Pretty average. I had to go home and even out my sideburns. The left was about a 1/2 inch longer than the right. The top of my head was cut too short in the back it sticks up a little but I can fix it with gel. I dont know what a five star haircut is supposed to look like but I know I shouldnt have to fix it. The cut deserves three stars but Im taking one away because they charge 5 bucks for a shampoo. Id rather leave hairy.

Desserea did a great job on my hair! I asked for a full cissor cut and showed her a cut I had about a year ago. She took care of every meticulous detail. I havent seen such attention to detail in a long time.I didnt have an appointment, but I recommend people to grab one. The place tends to get crowded with walk-ins, and I was lucky to arrive right before the crowd.

Maybe I caught my stylist on a bad day, or just didnt get a good one, either way I was unimpressed. For the price, close to $30.00 with the tip, I was expecting more of a skilled barber. Instead I got an average stylist who did most of the cut with guards. More boxed than faded, she did cut it a little shorter at the hairline, but definitely not the clean tapered neckline I am used to. I didnt find this a five star worthy barbershop at all. Maybe good at womens cut or long haired men, but what I got here I can get anywhere in town for much less.

I was not happy. My haircut is much shorter than I asked for. I came in wanting a little trim with the number three guard. The girl that cut my hair did use the number three, but cut it really high on my sides and back. I know short hair is big these days, but I didnt want to look like I was in the military. The top is so short its hard for me to comb it to the side unless I use a lot of heavy product, which I dont like. Nothing to do now but wait for it to grow out. I wont be a repeat customer and I suggest you go somewhere else.

No!!!! I have been growing my hair out for a couple of months. I went in for a little trim and asked for a 1/2 inch off. When she got out the buzzer I thought she was going to clean up my neck. Instead she took a swipe and cut the hair on my sides down to a 1/2 inch! I didnt say anything because the damage was done. My choices at that point were to freak out or just go with it. Maybe I could have kept my long hair in back and just started wearing a mullet! Great place to come if you want a rookie who doesnt pay attention to what you ask for.
