Of the more than 20 Barrys locations Ive been to in the US and abroad, Id rank this one in the lower middle of the bunch. The mens locker room doesnt even have deodorant, you have to write down your shake order pre workout as opposed to just say it to the juice counter folks as at other locations and the staff generally are not the friendliest - all in themselves minor complaints until you remember youre paying $32 a class!
Nice place.
Great Experience, Beautiful Staff
This location is very convenient for me. It is in the heart of Copley Square. The workouts are always great, but if youre a first timer make sure you tell the instructor ahead of time that you are new so you get a lay out of the space and the flow of the class. Locker rooms are a bit hectic before and after class.
I love this location, set up, and instructors. A nice large check in room and very spacious entrance. The locker rooms arent bad, and can get crowded per usual at any Barrys class but also nice that they have options to lock your belongings up in the entrance area, preventing locker room overflow.Similar to any Barrys gym they provide towels and toiletries post workout for you.Easy to get to in the heart of the Back Bay via car or the orange line or green line.
Awesome.
Such a great studio! Instructors are great, weights/treads are wonderful quality, music always helps you run even faster. Smoothies are delicious, the lobby is really modern and nice, and the Oribe products are worth hanging around for afterward in the locker rooms. Always welcoming, and the most motivating and fun workout. So glad Barrys came to Back Bay!
Great gym in terms of the staff & coaches, but horrible location, hence the reason I took off 1 star. Don’t bother coming here unless you can walk or Uber or come to an early class (which I normally do). Parking near this location is an absolute nightmare!! There’s no relationship with a nearby parking garage for validated/reduced parking (as other gyms in similar type areas with minimal parking do), so you have to fend for yourself in finding metered parking. The owners should really make an effort to put such a program in place, as there are parking garages in the area.
I was bored of my own workouts and decided to see what the hype was about - it’s incredibly inclusive regardless of your fitness level, body shape, or comfort working out around other people.I have fun working out here, and I’m always feeling it for a few days after. 👌🏻
I started going to Barrys in Downtown Crossing a year ago and still look forward to my next class. Many of my favorite instructors from other locations are now teaching at the Back Bay studio. Old, young, male, female, everyone is always welcome. After being bored at the gym and working out by myself, I discovered Barrys and now have a fantastic, high energy instructor and class of like-minded attendees to keep me excited about working out and push myself to give 100%. Whats not listed on their website is the great community of people they draw. The classes are always fun and sweat inducing, but the high-five you get walking into class reminds you theres a class of people cheering you on.
If you really hated yourself, you could work yourself out like this.....Barrys takes the extreme to another levelBarrys is a high intensity work out split between treadmill and weights. Every day has a different concentration like Monday is arms and abs, Tuesday is lower body, Wednesday is chest, back and arms, etcIf you havent run on a tread at a 8 percent incline, run very hard for 2 minutes or sprinted for 1 minute, then be preparedThe workout is tough, but varied. You never do the same routine twice. Your muscles and endurance are constantly being challengedThe instructors are all hard core and excellent. They are not above swearing if necessaryIf there is one downside, there are 50 people to a class, so if you check your own form unlike a 1-1 personal training sessionBut if you want a challenge, then Barrys is for you
