First off, I cannot say enough good things about AMP Fitness pre-, during, and now post-pandemic. They handled these transitions like true leaders and I greatly appreciate how they’ve helped me this past year (which is what prompted me to write this review). And to be completely candid, Amp Fitness has changed my life. I know that sounds cliche, but it’s true. I joined in 2015 with the simple goal of improving my general fitness -- moving better and more comfortably, improving my strength, and reducing tightness/stiffness.Not only do I feel better than I did in college, I may actually feel the best I have since I can remember. I move better and more confidently. I no longer have any physical discomfort. I’ve gained strength and mobility. And I (actually) enjoy fitness and actively managing my health. They make it easy.I own a small business, which means I have more stress and less free time than I’d like. Feeling better physically (and with less pain) has significantly improved my focus, productivity, and resilience to endure stress. I used to read every article I came across about this, but it was something I truly had to experience to understand. In addition to all of the above, the culture at AMP is second to none. They are some of the most generous and well-intentioned people I’ve ever met, and they care deeply about their Members and really anyone they come in contact with. They customize the programs and experience for each individual Member so you truly get to experience results EVERY time you walk in the door. The best part? They work so hard to make fitness accessible and judgment-free for everyone, regardless of a person’s fitness level or experience. I never understood the importance of having an extended fitness family, but it’s one of the (many) reasons I’ve stuck with it so long. This is part of what makes the culture so awesome.I can honestly say AMP changed my life. How many people can say that about their gym?

Joining AMP Fitness has been, hands down, one of the BEST decisions I’ve made since moving to Boston! Before discovering AMP – I had always gone to the big box gyms where you basically don’t make eye contact with anyone, get your workout in, and leave. At AMP, however, someone is always there to say “Hi” from the moment you walk in, motivate you during your class and/or session, and then have some genuine conversation after you’re done nailing your workout. The coaches and members are such amazing human beings and AMP Fitness is truly an all-inclusive family that loves and supports one another in and outside of the gym!

AMP Fitness was the first gym I ever joined and it was one of the best decisions Ive ever made. The coaches are knowledgeable, approachable, and fun. Ive had two injuries in the past year and both times the coaches were able to tailor classes and my semi-private training so I could continue to move during my recovery. This flexibility has been invaluable in both my recovery and in continuing my fitness goals.

When youre a member at AMP, youre a member of an amazing fitness family. AMP provides a truly unique, uplifting and most importantly, INCLUSIVE experience for members of all walks of life. The AMP team supported my fitness journey through thick and thin over the past few years. As a former 2 sport collegiate athlete, I wanted to train hard, but work within the constraints of my injuries. The AMP team was able to create a custom regime for me to push myself, and crush my fitness goals, all while protecting myself from further injury and adjusting my workouts as needed. My job requires me to travel most weeks, so it was also amazing to have a custom workout, all available through an app on my phone (with videos & instructions) to do while on the road. Overall, my experience with AMP has been amazing and I would recommend for ANYONE regardless of where you are in your fitness journey. You will have fun, crush your goals, meet amazing people, and be a part of a truly special organization.

Joining AMP fitness in January of 2020 was one of the best fitness and wellness decisions I have ever met. Period. Being new to Boston, I was looking for a gym with a good sense of community, where trainers and members actually know and care about each other. AMP fitness is all that and then some. For one, they are very inclusive. Second, and most importantly, Lindsay, Steven, and the all the coaches really care about every member’s fitness journey. They tailor the semi-private workout program to your skills, needs, and goals, and help you to just always be a little better version of yourself. I also like that they explain why they have you do certain exercises—they have all the knowledge that I expect of good coaches, and they also SHARE it with their members.During the COVID-19 closure of the gym, Lindsay and Steve somehow managed to create a virtual workout format over night. Both the virtual classes as well as the semi-private virtual coaching over Zoom are excellent. The team adapted all the exercises, so they could be done with minimal or no equipment. What I find even more impressive though was that Lindsay and Steve kept checking in with us members during that time to see how we are doing more generally. The quarantine was hard on everyone, and the fact that the AMP team cared so much about the membership during a time when they were facing a lot of hardship really says it all.I could go on and on about why AMP is truly one of the best workout places I have ever experienced. The bottom line is: You get to workout in a welcoming, inclusive community with knowledgable and caring coaching, and get 1% better every day.

AMP fitness is the best! I have been going there for about a year and it is the best part of my day. I feel challenged in a really supportive way. I am stronger and healthier and love being a part of the totally diverse AMP family. Everyone there is so nice and they really truly care about all the clients. I’m so happy I found this place.

Five stars is not enough! This team of coaches and the community I found at AMP will be very hard to replace. I started training here during a very busy period of international work travel and was looking for accountability. The semi-private sessions were the perfect way to get that, despite an erratic schedule. This team is incredibly knowledgeable and takes a holistic approach to fitness while maintaining a fun, enthusiastic and supportive environment. Highly recommend training at AMP!

To echo many of the reviews here - an absolutely amazing place. If you ever wanted to experience what it is like to work out with family (not the ones you hate, but the ones you sit next to at Thanksgiving and gossip about the rest of the family), this is the place! Everyone is welcoming. We are all at different levels in our fitness lives, but it all comes down to feeling included and cared about and achieving our goals. That means different things for everyone, but AMP does an stunning job at helping everyone achieve those goals. I know that I have seen major improvements since joining AMP - that is no coincidence. If youre thinking of joining, check them out, you will not be disappointed!

This place is the best! Not only do the coaches take the time to get to know you and learn what works best for your fitness goals but everyone is down to earth and makes you feel like you belong. Ive been going to AMP now for over a year. Steve, Lyndsey and their team have successfully created an inviting no judgment environment in which regardless of where you are in your fitness journey, there is a place for you. Myself have been attending the small (max 8 people) classes and love them. After a stressful day at work, I look forward to spending an hour bettering myself and having fun with others. The classes are always changing so there is no boredom.

I just started training with Steve and I love it! I dont like gyms, but I know I need to exercise to be healthy. The collaborative environment created by the small group training is terrific. It is different than small group training in a gym, since there are only a few people in the entire facility at a time! You get personal attention in a supportive environment. Great concept!

I often felt out of place in gyms and just wasn’t comfortable. The coaches at AMP create a warm and inviting environment and also give you the tools to reach your goals. I’ve learned so much in the short 6 months I’ve been here and look forward now to going to small group training and learning new skills. More importantly I’m excited to push myself and prove to myself what I am capable of.

AMP is just a happy place. The staff is full supportive and incredibly knowledgeable. The group classes are small and targeted, which makes a big difference. If you want to half-ass your work out here, that is unlikely to happen. There is a big emphasis on proper form and injury prevention and hey, as you get older, this stuff matters, hate to say it. The environment is welcoming and friendly and it genuinely feels like a family!

I started training here in May 2014 as a way to supplement my triathlon training and as an injury prevention measure. I find the discipline of having a semi-private class is a great way to get individualized trading at a very reasonable cost. The program they have been putting together for me has been very helpful in addressing some basic muscles imbalances that I have. The atmosphere here is very friendly. This is a great place for anyone who wants to get in shape no matter what their current state of fitness.

AMP Fitness has both individual sessions and semi-private sessions. I utilize the semi-private training sessions and have found that they motivate me to maximize my workout. Steve has created innovative programs that keep my workouts fresh. One of the most satisfying aspects of my time at AMP Fitness is that I feel myself progressing and getting stronger. I look forward to continuing at AMP Fitness I would recommend AMP Fitness to anyone who wants to boost their workouts in a comfortable and motivating atmosphere.

Last year I had a clinical rotation in Boston and was in search of a gym during my stay. I had high expectations for a gym but AMP Fitness exceeded all of them. Being in a new city for such a short time by yourself can be a scary, but AMP Fitness was able to provide a family away from home. They also helped shape my new fitness goals. Not only was I able to improve my form but I got stronger physically and mentally. If you are looking for a gym that not only cares about training you but also about you as a person, AMP Fitness is that place! AMP Fitness is here to help you become a better human, regardless of your fitness goals.

I started training with Steve several years ago as I recovered from two hip replacement surgeries. I had been a very active judo/jujitsu practitioner for 30+ years and basically wore out my hips. Steves knowledge of body mechanics, training techniques and rehabilitation issues has been invaluable in my recovery and my ability to regain functionality. Steve helps me not overdo my training and keeps me at a measured pace. I now move and lift and recreate much more easily and with greater confidence. The semi-private training approach is perfect. I want someone watching over me and helping with my programming and improving my technique but I dont need someone holding my hand and counting my reps. I wish I had started training with Steve 10 years ago since my self-training approach did not work out so well for me! Thank you Steve!

Can there be love at first site with a gym? I came to AMP via Class Pass after losing one too many trainers at my former gym. Almost instantly I knew it was the right place for me. Steve, Lindsay and Eric are all incredibly knowledgeable, welcoming and enthusiastic. The workouts are challenging, but the atmosphere is never intimidating.Workouts at my prior gym were a bit scattershot and I feel like I had plateaued. The workouts felt good, but I wasn’t really seeing any changes, either in strength or weight loss. That all changed when I started at AMP.Classes are based on kettle bell, band and body weight exercises and change on a monthly basis. Each week is progressively more difficult. It’s a great format that leaves room to work on form and never gets boring. Classes are small, which means there’s also a lot of individual attention.Semi-private sessions are a chance to really work on strength training and mobility. Programs are customized and are 4-6 weeks long. Everyone is encouraged to hit a personal record (reps, weight or some other goal) every session, which is a great motivator. The programs travel well too, so workouts don’t have to be skipped during business trips or vacations.I would (and already have) recommended AMP to my friends and colleagues. I would also recommend it to anyone who’s looking for a consistently challenging workout with trainers and fellow gym-goers who are supportive and happy to be there.

Before Amp Fitness I considered running for the subway a workout. Now, almost a year into my membership, I can do things Ive never dreamed of doing (hello planks, deadlifts and yes...even cardio) and I can do them in a safe, smart way. Ive learned to move and enjoy it and have even lost some of the weight I thought would never come off. But most of all, I just feel strong. My balance is better, my sleep has improved, and I dont get winded running for the subway anymore. The staff here are radically inclusive, super positive and deeply committed to every member while also making it a fun time. If you hate gyms? This might be the place that makes you change your mind.

Coming up on my 2nd AMP anniversary, which is in and of itself just short of miraculous. On my first visit I saw that a client had written on a bulletin board--this place will change your life. I rolled my eyes. Two years later I can say without question that this place has changed my life. I hate gyms and Im not even much on exercise but Im sold on AMP. Incredible training and just generally good people who know what the hell theyre talking about. They met me where I was and I feel great, in better shape than Ive been in years, and over 15 lbs lighter. It shocks me to hear myself say this but when Im traveling I actually miss it. Weird. If there were 10 stars, Id give AMP all of them.

I can echo all the reviews that say this place is AMAZING! I can’t believe I’ve been going to AMP for over a month now. Prior to AMP, I hated working out, I rarely exercised, and I never did anything but running or the elliptical. I pretty much had gymphobia and avoided it at all costs. Now I’m waking up 3x a week to work out before work!? Crazy. This is a huge testament to the coaches and philosophy at AMP. The semi-private and small class setup is a genius concept. The coaches are super knowledagble and can help you no matter your skill level! Also, the schedule and scheduling app they use is awesome for those with a busy schedule - very flexible! I definitely recommend this gym to anyone looking for personalized training from very talented and experienced coaches.

I joined AMP 2 months ago, looking to get stronger, feel leaner, and meet like-minded people. AMP has exceeded expectations. The 2 things AMP does better than most commercials gyms are: (1) They take the time to teach you proper form. Their small group classes (the biggest class i’ve been in had 7 people, most classes have 3-4) allow you to get personal attention to make sure you’re doing everything right, and (2) They provide community, not just fitness. I went to commercial gyms for years and never made any connections or friends because i’d rarely see the same people each week. At AMP, there are lots of high-fives and “how was your weekend?”— you’ll get to know people by name and leave feel not only accomplished but with a sense of belonging.AMP allows you to show up just as you are. They claim to believe in you until YOU believe in you and they deliver. If you’re looking for a warm, welcoming, sweat-inducing, muscle-creating community, AMP is the place for you.

I tried to book a class through the MINDBODY app and was told to call the business so I did. I spoke on the phone with the teacher of the class who say that there was room in the class and that I should come on over. But when I showed up, the teacher said sorry, this class is for members only which confused me because it was bookable by nonmembers through the MINDBODY app. I had traveled a great distance and passed up chances to work out else where. Yet the teacher just turned me away, which was frustrating and disappointing. Lame customer service indeed. If the classes are for members only, why not communicate that directly? Why display classes on MINDBODY and allow nonmembers to book? So lame.

AMP Fitness and Steve Bergeron offer a range ways to help you keep fitness in your life. I expect that Steve will get great reviews on helping his clients with a range of general conditioning, fitness and well-being, flexibility, fat loss and injury prevention goals. He knows those things very well. But the thing I like most about AMP is that the programming can be highly tailored. I have spent a lot of time competing in various sports and even more time in gyms, with reasonably good results. Currently I am interested in pushing myself to be as strong as possible while staying healthy. Steve saw that much of my lifting mechanics and form was sound, but he also saw many ways that I could do things better or get more out of my lifts, even if just 5% here, 10% there. He has put together a program has that has allowed me to push myself with strength training and compete in my first powerlifting competition, setting personal bests in every lift. Were aiming for another competition in the fall, and I have no doubt that I will be well prepared.

The good: If you are looking for a supportive community, this is the best place to work out! I struggled with consistency for years, and this is the first time in my life where I am looking forward to heading to the gym. Youll leave feeling amazing everytime, and the entire place celebrates PRs with you (rawr!). The staff is attentive, they listen to your goals, and the members just make it an incredible home. The best part, you get strong both mentally and physically. Seriously. The bad: This is a small gym. This is not the place for you if you are all about headphones and picking things up and putting them down. We like to blast our favorite jams and get a lil crazy. Whether it is in a semi-private work out session or at a group class in the batcave. Yes, we are cool [nerds] like that.

I started with AMP Fitness over a year ago and I was immediately hooked. I had been excising on my own to lose weight, but was becoming frustrated and bored with my training. Steve helped me quickly realize I was making things much too hard on myself. He and Eric have set up programs for me that are much more efficient and infinitely more effective than what I had been trying on my own.I am now a much stronger, healthier person than I was a year ago. The amazing team at AMP has not only helped me maintain my weight loss, but gain incredible strength, make new friends, and made the process unbelievably fun.I cannot say enough good things about the AMP process. Steve, Eric and Lindsay make sure to review your entire history, motion abilities, strengths, weaknesses and goals and somehow figure out enjoyable and interesting ways to help you get there. They change up the programs every five or six weeks so you do not get tired of your routine and they monitor you constantly to make sure your form is perfect and you avoid injuries. If you want to be Lean(er), Strong(er), Fast(er), Better! – I strongly recommend giving AMP Fitness Boston a try. The training experience is like no other.

I started out here on a trial ClassPass in April. I have been going at least once a week, if not twice, ever since! Steve, Lindsay and Eric are super attentive and dedicated. I never touched a kettlebell before entering this facility. Now im doing swings like a pro.I have knee issues and they are always on top of modifying exercises for me in class, which i really appreciate. Here the focus is on proper form and technique, and not so much do 50 squats in 2.5 minutes, go!. They want you to perform correctly, not quickly. They also arent afraid to give you a little nudge to move to the next level / kettlebell weight, etc (especially Eric!).A great gym with great people, trainers and clients alike. Everyone is wicked friendly and always available to help. Highly recommend!
